TBL 6×27: Family Weigh-In Reunion Log Cutting Thingydooby

Previously on The Biggest Loser Meg won Immunity from elimination, which is doubly important this week due to a surprise elimination being scheduled to take place as well as the regular elimination on Sunday night.

But we don’t know when or where the surprise elimination will take place. It could be in the first 5 minutes tonight. It might be 5 minutes before the Elimination on Sunday night.
Personally my money is on it being right after the regular Elimination so they can send the two victims off somewhere together… or at least plant that idea in the brains of the contestants!

In any event tonight is another Contest night. Logs will be sawed, it seems. The Champions for the families will need their log to weigh a certain amount, else they’ll have to saw another bit of log off to try and hit the mark again.
But first the Family Weigh-In gets started for reals. We left it last night just as the eliminated contestants were strolling into the weigh-in room for a visit.

But before THAT we need a bunch of recap footage, naturally. Argh!

Tiffiny bounces in joy when her ninjas wander back in. She even pounces on Jarrod for a big cuddle. Awww!
Sharlene runs to hug her husband and Greg even has a hug for nephew Nathaniel!

Winning family at the weigh-in will get to choose the champions for the Contest. Jodie says it’d be good to have that power.
Yeah, that’s so going to happen!

Moons weigh in first.

Moon Start: 499.9kg
Moon Current: 400kg
Moon Loss: 99.9kg
Moon Percentage: 19.98%

Sarah’s ecstatic, hooting and hollering. Steve has a small smile on his face. He’s obviously not thrilled but still pleased they’re losing weight.
Steve says they’ve had a lot of problems along the way and instead of yelling and screaming like he’s done in the past they’re just getting back to the basics in every way.
Steve tells us the Moon’s loss is “not too bad” but he’s pretty sure the other families have lost a lot more.

Challenors are up next.
Joe says the three boys still in there are pulling really good weight (Really? You’ve been under the Line twice!) and Greg needs to get his head back in the game because he’s pulling them back.

Challenor Start: 693.4kg
Challenor Current: 550kg
Challenor Loss: 143.4kg
Challenor Percentage: 20.68%

The percentage isn’t that impressive but in terms of raw numbers? Crikey!
Nathaniel’s start weight, or thereabouts.
Greg says it’s been hard on the outside but he’s starting to enjoy it as he loses the weight, he feels better and can breathe properly for a change.

Greg’s lost 2.8kg since the last time they saw him. Not a huge figure but on the outside it’s a good result, as Michelle confirms for us. She says most people would be stoked to lose that much on the outside. Michelle is very pleased by the changes in Greg since the starting days.

Next up, the Duncans!

Duncan Start: 537.5kg
Duncan Current: 416kg
Duncan Loss: 121.5kg
Duncan Percentage: 22.6%

Smashed the all boy team and the all girl team.

Meg’s super impressed by how good Sarah-Jayne and Jarrod look, says the TV doesn’t do them justice.
SJ has lost 3.3kg since we last saw her which is, again, very impressive for the outside!
Meg says that the biggest change is Sarah-Jayne having a neck! She never used to have one.

Emma’s also lost .7kg since being eliminated.
Jarrod’s only lost a kilo this week. But a loss is a loss!
Jarrod was devastated to learn that Meg would be there by herself now.

Westrens will need to have lost a total of 106.4kg.
Didn’t they have more than that last week? Or close to it?

Westren Start: 470.6kg
Westren Current: 352kg
Westren Loss: 118.6kg
Westren Percentage: 25.2%

More than a quarter of their body weight has been dropped, very good effort.
Craig’s amazed by how good his family looks, saying it’s only been a few weeks but they all look great.

Last time we saw Craig he’d put on weight and he said that’d never happen again… and this week he’s lost 5.2kg. Sharlene screams OH MY GOD and Lara is speechless.
Craig says he’s been getting moving a bit more often… and he’s got a new person who comes to the gym with him – their daughter Emma.

Oh and she’s in a wheelchair.

So she doesn’t walk at all. But Craig set her up on a rowing machine and went upstairs to do his training. He came back down later and she’d done 4km of rowing, just with her arms!
Sharlene’s in tears and so thrilled to hear that Emma’s been able to do something like that. Then Craig says he had her on a bike once as well, causing most everyone to laugh. The Moons still look pretty sour. Probably because they’ve been soundly thrashed AGAIN.

So now The Westrens get to choose who’ll be the Champions.
Leigh says they’ve been playing with integrity and respect so he wanted to make it an even playing field going into the contest.

Kellie from the Moons, for her endurance. Damien for his strength. Meg, because you can’t pick anyone else! And Lara for her knowledge.

Rebecca’s not having a bar of it, she tells us the Westrens are playing the game, picking the weakest people from each team. Erm, really? The weakest on your team is Sarah and we all know it!

And then it’s time for the eliminated contestants to go home again, awww.

Early morning in the Moon family bedroom and they’re all having a sook about their sleeping conditions, of course. Worst sleep ever, etc.
Commando Steve has the girls in the kitchen (ha!) for a lesson on nutrition. Bananas are bad for you?! Apparently they’re high in energy. Other things like rice and bread and sugar are obviously not so good. But bananas? Sigh.

Steve’s got some examples of what they SHOULD be eating. Lots of green salad. Breakfast should be some cottage cheese, strawberries, grapes, rockmelon and some almonds, he says. The portion sizes are what they’re meant to have, not another quarter cup of cheese or some extra grapes or what have you.
Sarah says she used to eat 15-20,000 calories a day?! That can’t possibly be right. If it is it would certainly explain how she got fat! And it wouldn’t’ve taken long!

Mid-morning snack? Half a cup of yoghurt. Three almonds. Kellie says to us, “Half a cup of yoghurt and three almonds? Are you kidding me? Hardly seems worth it.” Yep. No mystery why you’re fat!

90g of tuna and about six cups of salad with some cucumber and tomatoes tossed in.
Rebecca can’t believe how much lettuce they have to eat. No mystery how…

Dinner? 90g of cooked chicken. One cup of green beans. One and a quarter cups of broccoli. 3 cups of bok choi.

Steve says he knows it’s hard, but this is back to basics stuff. This is your daily intake. This is what they need to do though, they need to change their headspace, etc.

They won’t last a day!

Michelle has her team out on the driveway with a bunch of random crap to lug around. Sandbags, jerry cans, logs, tires. Lug em up the hill!
The Contest is on tonight, she tells Damien, but she’s still going to work him hard!
She asks Damien if he’d’ve thought he’d ever be lugging two sandbags up a hill and Damien says he didn’t imagine it would ever be possible.

Damien recalls the start of his journey where everything was causing him pain and now he’s carrying sandbags up a steep hill without complaint.
Damien says he feels like Lazarus come back from the dead. He asks if Michelle knows the story and she says no, so Damien explains it to her while walking up the hill. Big, huge change. Before, he could barely walk and talk at the same time.

Damien tells Mish that he sucked as a Father and as a husband. He was heading for a very early grave.
Mish says that man would have given up. The new Damien catches his breath and gets on with it!

Mish says this is the change she knew they had in them.

Joe says it made him sad to hear Damien say he sucked as a Dad and Nate says he’d be happy to have Damien as a Dad. He always had a smile on his face and would play with Nate when he was a kid.
Damien’s quite taken aback by that, in a good way though!

Mish wants Damien to win The Contest. It’s his time to shine!

Michelle had timed them lugging the junk up the hill and now she’s urging them to beat their time when taking everything back down the hill again. We don’t find out if they do though, aww!

The Contest has four trestles set up, each with a log atop it.
This challenge has strength, knowledge and endurance rolled into one, Hayley tells us.

The aim tonight is to cut a piece of wood off their log as quickly as they can. But not just any old piece, oh no! It must be a specific weight in order to be counted.

Lara says she’s the wrong person for this contest because she hasn’t picked up a saw since… highschool. And what was that, 5 years ago, Lara? Sheesh, you’ll be fine.

The winner of The Contest will get an advantage at The Challenge. And The Challenge will be when the Elimination takes place, so they’ll want to win tonight!

In round 1 they have to saw off a 1kg piece of log, give or take 20g, to finish the round. The first three champions to finish will move on to the next round.
Three rounds, last man standing wins!

None of the girls have any idea how to saw, it seems. Though, shockingly, Sarah knows you should let the saw do the work. Who’d’ve guessed she’d have some clue about hardware?

Damien’s the first to finish and his first log is 1.791kg. Kellie’s next, 915g!
Lara’s weighs 956g. Sharlene squeals until Hayley reminds her it needs to be between 980g and 1020g.

Damien gets another log done and this time it’s 1087g. Still too much!
1276g for Lara’s next log. Still not good enough.

Meg’s got her whole body wobbling while sawing which surely can’t be helping her endurance.

Kellie’s next log is 1137g.

Meg’s next is 1013g! First one through is the only one not getting any encouragement!

990g for Damien’s next log.

Down to Lara and Kellie. Pretty sure Kellie’s next piece is going to be too heavy as well. We’ll see!

964g for Lara’s next attempt!

Kellie brings her next piece up to be weighed and… it’s 870g? Wow, it looked way too big.

Lara has another piece up… 995g, congratulations!

Moons lose at yet another thing!

Second round they need to cut a piece of log 2000g in weight, give or take 50g this time.
The logs seem a bit chunkier this time around so I think Damien’s first piece is going to be over.

Yep, 2298g for his first attempt but at least he got done first, letting him adjust for his second piece.

Meg’s is 1681g. Nowhere near enough!

Lara must have dropped her log on her foot on the way over as she’s laughing and hopping as she gets to Hayley.
1795g. Still not there.

Damien’s doing really well at the sawing and he’s quite pleased by that, as he should be. Well done!

Damien’s next attempt is 1995g, sending him through to the final round.

Meg and Lara to go. Both girls are sawing like maniacs trying to get the first bite at the cherry.

Lara’s log weighs in at… AD BREAK!

Post ad break we learn that Lara’s log weighs 1966g, sending her through to the final round. She goes over and apologises to Meg, awww.

So now it’s Lara versus Damien for the final round. And boy, big logs for the final round!

Damien wishes Lara luck and Lara says thanks, she’s going to need it!

Final round is a 4kg log, give or take 200g.

Damien gets sawing very well once again while Lara continues fighting the saw all the way.

So it’s probably going to come down to who can more accurately gauge the 4kg required.

Damien’s first attempt comes in at… 5094g. Way too much!

Lara says she’s getting really… sore. GEDDIT?
Yeah, I don’t think she was cracking a joke there.

But she keeps sawing away, although Damien’s about halfway through his next slice of log by the time Lara’s done with her first attempt.

Lara’s log comes in at… some weight we’ll find out tomorrow night. ARGH!

Tomorrow night The Moons will struggle in training, again.

Then they’ll struggle in the Challenge which seems to be a Commando style obstacle course.

And the family that wins the Challenge? Gets to eliminate anyone they want from the losing family. Yikes!
