TBL 6×24: (Not so) Little blue dune buggy.

??Previously on The Biggest Loser the family weigh-in saw Westrens take out the top spot yet again!

The Contest got going and the final round is Sam versus Adro in a benchpress competition to see whether Red or White gets some advantage or other at weigh-in.

Tonight! Find out who actually won the damn Contest.
Also this week’s Challenge will start, leaving us hanging until Sunday no doubt…

Hayley’s counting out the repetitions for the boys.
Adro’s looking a bit uncomfortable at the start but he settles in after a few reps.

Fifteen reps go past. Neither seem to be struggling with the weight so far. Nor are they at 20. Sam tells us his arms were starting to burn a bit at that point and he was hoping Adro would just give up.

Forty! Both Legends have trembling arms at this point. And neither of them has a spotter, which is surely unwise?

Then Adro’s struggling to lift the bar and… oh, I see, there’s a safety rail stopping them from getting squished. Nice idea!

Anyway, Sam wins again. Go Sam!

Hayley says afterwards that it was great to see Biggest Loser’s toughest competitors go head to head. Starving yourself doesn’t make you tough, Chris!

Sam’s won a very important advantage for one member of his team at weigh-in – immunity!
Sam says Damien and Joe are both in the right headspace already but Nathaniel really needs more time to get himself sorted out. And Sam can see some of himself in Nate.

Joe then gets his head in our face and, surprise surprise, he’s annoyed that Sam gave Nate immunity. Because he says they wouldn’t put up Damien for elimination (OH REALLY) and thus it’s Joe’s head on the chopping block.
Yeah, you might’ve got some sympathy if you’d been up before… Instead of going for the sympathy vote by pushing Damien under the bus.

Then the trainers turn up for the weekly loungeroom chat post family weigh-in and post The-Contest.

So the contestants recap the activities surrounding that.

Mish seems pretty lukewarm on Nate getting immunity. Sam says that they’re all going to pretend nothing has changed and they’ll keep training just as hard.

The other teams head off for training but Mish keeps her boys back for a chat first. She wants Damien and Joe to devise their own 80 minute workout, burning at least 800 calories from the time they enter to the time they leave.

Meanwhile the Westrens have been training hard. Leigh says that Shannan’s a bit of a pussycat compared to how hard Bob’s been working them out.
Shannan laughs and obviously Leigh’s going to cop it in training today. Shannan says to us that he’s been kind of disappointed that Leigh’s not reaching his potential.

After Leigh finishes it’s Lara’s turn for some one-on-one. Lara says she can feel her lunch sitting not too well and she can tell it’s not going to be a fun training session.
She looks quite unwell even before she starts.
But she keeps pushing on through. She tells us her body’s aching and she’s not sure how long she’s going to be able to do this.

And Lara ultimately does the one-on-one session in the best time between herself and Leigh. So even though she’s feeling a bit green around the gills, she’s still a powerhouse. Bob says she’s a powerhouse in the whole competition, not just in her family.

Leigh’s got something to prove, then. Shannan wants him to do 10 reps of each of the exercises, 8 exercises in all, in 120 seconds.
Leigh says nope, he’s going to do 11 reps of each in 120 seconds. Shannan’s not sure he can get that done, he asks Sharlene if she heard that?
And Shannan says that about halfway through Leigh was 2 seconds behind so if he wants to get it done he’s going to have to give 100%.

And, for once, Leigh does just that. Finished in 1.59.26, Shannan says. Good work!

Mish tells us Damien and Joe need to work out how to do their exercises on their own, since they might be back on the outside soon enough.

Meanwhile she’s taking Nathaniel and Sam to the beach to get them out of their comfort zone. Or at least Nate, who doesn’t go to the beach, doesn’t take his top off around people, etc.
Mish is hoping that Nate will also be able to train a bit better out from the shadow of his uncles. And it turns out to be a wise choice as she says Nathaniel’s training quite differently, competing with Sam instead of his uncles.
Even Sam can see the difference, saying he’s not seen Nathaniel train so hard before.
Michelle is very impressed by Nathaniel getting right into the beach training without being so self conscious.

Meanwhile back at Camp Tiffiny has her ninjas doing a circuit of training.
She asks Emma if she’s going to let anyone take her place above the Yellow Line? No!
Emma tells us that the other teams have been training harder since the Legends have arrived and the twins are a little worried at what numbers they might pull now that they’re actually training hard.

Meanwhile Meg and Adro are having a chat about their past. Meg and Adro were both fat kids, so they have quite a bit in common.
Adro says she needs to go home as a new version of herself. And when she loves herself, others will love her too.
Meg wants to be a beautiful butterfly!

Then it’s time to head off to The Challenge for the week. Some nerves, some excitement.

Then they arrive on location and there’s a whole bunch of sand!
Big, huge, mountainous pile of sand on the beach. With flags placed in a line up the hill…

Today’s challenge will test their commitment, strength and courage, Hayley says.
Each family must fill an empty bucket from the lake (? Oh, it’s a lake, not the ocean? Okay!) and transport them 250m up and over the sand dunes to fill an empty barrel.
Each family has 8 buckets at their disposal. Six 5L buckets and two 10L buckets.
Once their barrel is full of water a key will float to the top and they need that key to unlock and raise their flag.

Each team has to choose three champions, one of which must be a Loser Legend.
Red sits Damien out because of his limited mobility.
Moons will have Jodie, Kellie and Lisa competing.
Sharlene’s sitting out for Westrens.

And The Duncans only have 3 people left anyway!

And now Hayley’s going to tell them why they’ll want to win and why they’ll not want to lose.
The winner gets a 1kg advantage at the weigh-in.
The last family to finish gets a 1kg weight penalty!

So it seems Black will be getting the penalty, then?

Ready, set, go!

Sam takes an early lead. But he wants to put in a big effort. They’re the Loser Legends, after all, not the Loser Pushovers!

Blue’s trying to carry as many buckets as they can in each trip. Sam’s carrying the two 10L buckets so that should be a good advantage for his team.
Black’s got a plan for a relay system – Kellie carries the buckets partway up the first hill, Lisa carries it up and over the first part of the hill and then Jodie carries it up the rest of the way to the top.
Sam puts his buckets down beside the barrel and immediately springs off back down the hill. Literally, springing his way down the dune!

Joe tries to follow suit but he doesn’t go for very long.

Black is very pleased to have Lisa on their team since she was the first female winner and she may be small but she’s very strong!

Blue is the last team to get someone to the top but they’re all carrying more buckets than the other teams per trip so Lara’s still confident they can win.

White, meanwhile, are doing it tough. Meg’s boggling at how big the hill is as she trudges upwards.

Everyone wants the 1kg advantage. So they’re all trying really hard, etc etc.

Nathaniel’s really impressed by Sam’s efforts in the Challenge. He says Sam’s obviously so fit and that that could be him when he’s done!

Adro recalls the sand races from his own season. He’s not liked sand ever since then.

Lara’s still plodding along. She’s crying a bit as she comes up the hill at one point but she’s not giving up, even though she’s obviously very exhausted.
She’s carrying 15L each time, 3 buckets of 5L.
Bob’s carrying 20L in the 2 10L buckets. Bob’s calling on his experience climbing the mountain with The Commando and Nathan while carrying a heavy rope. And he’s making slow but steady progress.

The Challenors are in the lead at 85L in their barrel. Or thereabouts. Not sure how exact that measurement is. But it’s 5L ahead of The Westrens, apparently.

Damien’s really happy with Nathaniel’s reception of his encouragement today. A few weeks back Nate had cracked the shits at Damien constantly in his ear. Today he’s being very appreciative.

Lara’s calling encouragement to Bob and Bob asks how she’s going and Lara says alright but she’s got tadpoles in her water. “So long as they don’t drink anything” fires back Bob!

After another interminable ad break the Challenors and Westrens are level pegging with Duncans 15L behind and Moons 5L behind them.

As Lara empties her bucket into the barrel she tells Sharlene she’s got a tadpole in her bucket and Sharlene laughs and has a look. Then it turns up in the water gauge thing on the side and is still moving, hooray!

Damien’s still calling down encouragement, very very loudly!

Lisa’s encouraging her team, telling them to just keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Sarah tells us Lisa’s a big inspiration and role model, not just to their team but to every woman in Australia.

Meanwhile Adro’s stepped into Jarrod’s shoes, attempting to carry the team to victory again.

Red’s barrel is starting to get filled to the top and Blue’s isn’t far behind.

But Leigh’s struggling. His legs are feeling like they’ll seize up.

Damien’s yelling out “We are so close! We are so close!” And Sharlene tells us she really wanted to tell him to shut up for 5 minutes!

Nathaniel’s pouring in the final two buckets of water and they finally rescue their key and raise their flag!
When Joe puts his water into the barrel as well the measuring tube overflows.
Sam thinks it’s a real wakeup call to Nate and Joe, showing them how fit they’ve become.

The Westrens aren’t too far behind. Sure, the Challenors won but they’re happy to finish in second place.

Sunday night! Who’ll come last? Pretty sure it’ll be the Moons!

Also, the Legends go home. Awww!
Parting gifts on the way out though, weee!

And then “the dark side of The Moons”! Jodie’s going to lose 3.1kg, apparently, and that’s going to cause a walkout by Sarah?
Are the lighter sisters going to outperform Sarah for the seven hundred and forty second time and finally mention how bad Sarah is at losing weight?

Find out on Sunday!
