TBL 6×23: Loser Legends: Are They Still Masters Of Their Domain?

Previously on The Biggest Loser the Loser Legends rocked up to Camp. Unlike previous seasons they’ll be sticking around for an entire week of the Loser lifestyle.
For all the horror stories you hear about reality TV it sure seems like a lot of ex-contestants like coming back again!

Tonight it’s family weigh-in time… still. It started last night and we didn’t actually get to see anything interesting. So prepare yourself for a bunch of meaningless numbers to start the night.

And then prepare yourself for disappointment as The Contest starts later in the episode. Even the official Loser twitter says it “starts” tonight, an admission it won’t be finishing tonight!
The Contest Champions this week will be the Loser Legends for each team. So Sam’s probably got that one in the bag.

But first! Family weigh-in.

Greg from the Challenors is back on the big TV. He was annoyed at putting on weight last week but he’s tried to prop himself back up this week.

Greg Previous: 165.7kg
Greg Current: 159.4kg
Greg Loss: 6.3kg

Great to see Greg turn back around. Hopefully he manages to stay on track for the coming week!

Challenor Start: 693.4kg
Challenor Current: 569.8kg
Challenor Loss: 123.6kg
Challenor Percentage: 17.83%

That’s a whole bunch of weight lost between them!
Damien’s pleased they’ve turned the corner this week after their disastrous week last weigh-in.

Next up will be The Duncans, of course, since they’re missing two people from their team.

And there’s Jarrod and Sarah-Jayne on the big TV!
Emma and Meg announce they’ve got a new member of the family. Obviously Adro’s not quite in shot so Emma moves him across a bit and then SJ recognises him and says “Adrooooooo… You’ve got hair!” Much laughter all round.

Jarrod Previous: 121.6kg
Jarrod Current: 118.5kg
Jarrod Loss: 3.1kg

Much better after gaining weight previously.

Sarah-Jayne Previous: 103.6kg
Sarah-Jayne Current: 99.8kg
Sarah-Jayne Loss: 3.8kg

Woo, under the magic 100! SJ says the last time she was under 100kg was when she was 14 or 15 – about 14 years ago, she says.

Duncan Start: 537.5kg
Duncan Current: 427.9kg
Duncan Loss: 109.6kg
Duncan Percentage: 20.39%

First place!
Meg’s very proud of them and says they couldn’t’ve done it without each other’s support. Awww!

Next family will be the Moons.

Moon Start: 499.9kg
Moon Current: 415.9kg
Moon Loss: 84kg
Moon Percentage: 16.8%

Third place. Of three families to weigh in so far. Weaksauce!
Sarah’s proud of getting to 84kg between the four of them.
Rebecca continues to bitch and moan saying they should have lost more than that, maybe some of them aren’t giving 100%, etc.
Lisa says they need to fire up now.

Westrens will need at least 96kg between them to topple the Duncans. Pretty sure they’d lost more than that last week, hadn’t they?

But first, hi Craig!
Sharlene and Lara both go oooh! Sharlene’s missing Craig, though not missing his nagging.

Craig Previous: 96kg
Craig Current: 97.3kg
Craig GAIN: 1.3kg

Sharlene is gobsmacked. Not sure why, I think everyone else was expecting it.
Craig says it’s just the transition period going from the very regimented lifestyle at Camp and back into regular life. He says next week he’ll be right back on track.

Westren Start: 470.6kg
Westren Current: 371.9kg
Westren Loss: 98.7kg
Westren Percentage: 20.97%

First place, again! Sharlene and Lara both squeal and throw their hands in the air then hug Leigh. Yay, happy times!

Usually the winning family gets to choose the champions at The Contest. But not this week. This week, the Loser Legends will be taking the role of their team’s champions.

And now the Westrens get to ditch their workout gear and head out for a team bonding lunch at a snazzy restaurant. “Garfish”, if anyone knows it?
Bob sits them down and starts running down the menu to try and work out what would be okay to eat and then…

… then we see Craig strolling into the restaurant behind Sharlene with a big bunch of flowers. Lara and Bob see him first and Lara’s shocked…

AD BREAK!

Craig leans down and gives her a peck on the cheek and Sharlene nearly jumps out of her skin in shock. “Happy Birthday!”
Awww, big squishy hugs!

They’re all eating green leafy things and fish and other crap that ISN’T REAL FOOD.

The lunch doesn’t get a lot of coverage, just Craig turning up and some happy reunion then goodbye!

Moons are in the gym training. Lisa asks how Commando’s handled the team being last at the family weigh-in? Not well, the girls confirm.
Steve’s not happy! They’ve still got all four members in the house and they still can’t get off the bottom of the ladder. Sarah says they don’t want to be last anymore, it’s “be-littling”.

But Steve says he’s hoping Lisa being there will provide the extra kick they need. Lisa’s been there before and she’s the first female winner, so she knows how to get it done!

Steve’s got Sarah kicking away at one of the bags. Sarah’s talking about how each kick represents something holding her back… I think talking while kicking is just an excuse to do less kicking, personally.

But Steve’s happy to see them all working much more consistently between training sessions. It’s a good sign.
The girls all insist they won’t be going below the Yellow Line.

Sarah’s got some kind of awful scab on her upper lip, has since last night. And tonight I’ve noticed Rebecca’s got a cut on her lip. Cat fight? :-D

Then Lisa’s got an extra surprise for them.
It’s a mirror! A full length mirror. Lisa had done it with Shannan when she was on the show and it had helped her a lot to see how far she’s come.

Sarah’s first to step in front of the mirror and she smiles when she sees how much thinner she looks. She takes her exercise top off and Lisa offers to hold it. Sarah apologises for it being sweaty and Lisa says it’s okay. They’re all sweaty, after all!
Sarah’s even more pleased by how she looks in the mirror.

Kellie’s in tears seeing herself in the mirror, says it’s a big improvement.

Rebecca’s still not happy at seeing herself in the mirror. Pudgy belly still. Lisa says she still looks in the mirror and sees bits she doesn’t like.

Jodie has a look in the mirror and she thinks it must be a trick mirror, she’s looking so much thinner. Lisa promises her it’s not a trick mirror.
Jodie’s in tears as she hugs Lisa.

Lisa says they’ve got the potential to be the Final Four. They’re all still in the house and they’ve got each other’s backs. They can do it!
And even though they’ve just trained, she thinks they can probably do some more and they all agree with a smile. Huge improvement!

But now it’s time for The Contest! Lisa’s feeling the pressure of having to compete with the boys and having the girls to look after.

Lara tells us there’s some rowing machines and also some big bowls with chains and pulleys attached to them. Interesting!

Three knockout rounds. Endurance, knowledge and strength will be tested.
Hayley says they want to win this contest. They’ll get a huge advantage for their family at the next weigh-in, if they do.

Endurance is the first test. 2km rowing race! First three to finish will proceed to round two.

Ready, set… GO!

And then they’re rowing and rowing and rowing and rowing.

Adro believes rowing is about getting a good rhythm going. Bob just wants to win it for his family, wants to be sure he’s thrown everything into it.

Sam, of course, is going very well. But he’s also impressed by how well Lisa is going. Lisa’s keeping a strong, steady pace.

But at the first Hayley-check Sam is well in the lead, having already achieved the 500m mark.
Bob’s coming last but he’s only 115m behind Sam. Given the huge age difference, with Bob being near 60, he’s doing very well.

Sam says that once he got past the 1km mark he was still feeling alright, but wishing it was only 1km he had to do.

Surprisingly Lisa is pulling ahead of Adro, though Sam is still very much in the lead.

Sam finishes in first place, which pleases him greatly. 3 years ago he was 155kg and now he’s stepping up against the best Loser has to offer. He’s very proud of himself.

Lisa finishes in second place. Sweat’s pouring off of her and her face is bright red. But she’s still got the energy for one of her trademark grins!

Bob and Adro are still slugging it out for third place… until Adro’s foot slips out of the strap on the pedal bits, causing him to lose his rhythm but he’s still got a 70m lead on Bob.
Both boys say everything on their body is burning at this point.

Adro eventually gets to the 2km mark ahead of Bob. Bob’s disappointed by not making it past the first round but his team don’t mind, they’re still amazed by his success.

Next round the Loser Legends will be the Brawn in the equation while one of the contestants will be the Brains.
Adro chooses Emma as they’ve been working calories all week, apparently.
Sam says that Mish has told him that Nathaniel’s got to do everything Sam does this week and so Nate’s going to be the brains for their team.
Kellie’s Lisa’s chosen brain. Kellie’s pleased since she says she seems to be the only one who reads the calories book anyway.

The challenge for the next round is the brains will answer questions and the bucket the brawn is holding up will have a 5kg sandbag thrown into it for each wrong answer.
First to drop their bucket is out!

A glass of full cream milk has more calories than a glass of full strength beer?
True or False?

The answer is true!

How many calories would an average sized person burn walking 1km at a steady pace?
60, 120 or 160 calories?

They’re all wrong, the answer is 160 calories!

Bob’s the official weight loader so he gets to lift the weights into the buckets. Quite a workout this could be!

How many bones in the human body?
206, 306 or 406.

Correct answer is 206. Emma says 306 for some reason.

Approximately how many calories should a woman in a healthy weight range consume in one day?
1200, 2000 or 2500?

Correct answer is 2,000 calories
Kellie gets it wrong!

Which sandwich spread contains the most calories?
1 tablespoon of mayo, peanut butter or nutella.

Mayo is the correct answer.
Kellie and Nathaniel both get it wrong.

Lisa’s struggling a bit at this stage.

We then go through a bunch more questions in quickfire fashion without hearing the questions or answers.

Question 15, they’re all wrong again!
Lisa’s on 25kg by this point and isn’t sure how much longer she can hold it.

When do you get the most out of cardio training?
Wake up before breakfast, after breakfast or evening after dinner?

After the inevitable ad break, the answer is revealed as being when you wake up before breakfast.

Kellie got the right answer but unfortunately Lisa couldn’t hold it any longer anyway, so she’s out.

Now it’s down to Sam and Adro for the final round – a test of strength!

Round 3 will see the Legends having to benchpress 20kg. The Legend with the most reps, wins.
Pretty straightforward.

Sam and Adro get into position.

Ready, set… TOMORROW NIGHT!
Which Legend will win?

Then, hardcore training prior to the weekly Challenge.

The weekly Challenge which sees “Heartbreak Hill” return to the competition. It’s a very steep, very tall sandy dune and this time they’re going to be carrying water up out of the ocean to the top of the hill. Presumably until they get a certain amount of water to the top.
Should be fun. If only we didn’t have to wait until Sunday to find out who wins…
