TBL 6×13: Weigh-In Night. And it’s a corker!
Previously on The Biggest Loser… no, wait, it’s another endless plug for Glee. Who cares about rewinding Live TV? I’d much rather be able to fast forward!
Aaaanyway, Friday on The Biggest Loser saw the families competing in a Challenge to win letters from home via stacking up a bunch of sandbags on scales.
The Duncans, as usual, were winning pretty comfortably at the end of the show.
Tonight we find out if they go on to win The Challenge. Then later another weigh-in rolls around. Who’ll face Elimination later tonight?
Time to find out!
Nathaniel reminds us as the episode starts that the winning family get letters from home along with a 1kg advantage at the weigh-in. Not really huge.
Leigh and Jarrod are having a bit of fun, digging at each other back and forth. Lara (jokingly) says that Sharlene suggested she go out and trip one of the Whites on their way to the scales or block them from getting there.
Shortly after the episode starts the Duncans win, of course.
But The Westrens aren’t giving up, they’re going to keep adding weight to their scales.
And, surprisingly, Joe actually comes over and compliments The Duncans on their victory. He’s also being encouraging towards the other families, which Damien is pleased to see.
Now the Duncans are done they offer to help the Moons and Challenors to fill up some of their sandbags since they’re still so far away from being finished. The Westrens manage to finish not long after the Duncans and immediately move over to help the other families.
At one point Damien is carrying his medicine ball along with the requisite sandbag.
The Moons finish last of all with all three of the other teams helping them and encouraging them. The mood afterwards is “fantabulous”, Nathaniel says, compared to the start of the week and all the aggro.
The Duncans finally get to receive their letters from home reward.
Jarrod’s got a letter from his girlfriend, Kelly. She’s proud of him for doing it and she tells them they better keep it up and not get cocky, causing chuckles all round.
Meg’s in tears as soon as she starts reading. Her husband has very girly writing. Surprising given how macho he looks!
Emma’s husband’s letter doesn’t cause tears right away but it does happen. They’re newly married, apparently, so giving up this much time is a big deal. Their wedding song is “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You”?
Laaaame!
Commando Steve has come in for training for the day, but first he checks on the task he’d set them – 24/7 on the spinbike.
And he’s happy with their times and calories burned.
Off training in the warehouse for Black today. And Commando Steve has their letters from home in his pocket. Do what he says today, no complaining, no excuses, and they can have their letters too. Yay!
Their circuit today is being done to the time of someone running 200m on the treadmill. So the faster they run, the less time the others have to do strength training stuff. Lifting weights, jumping up onto a tractor tire over and over, etc.
Sarah usually only runs at 7km/hr on the treadmill apparently but today she’s managing 12km/hr.
Steve finally lets them have their letters out on the paradeground.
Kellie’s husband asks if her and Jodie have killed each other yet. Much laughter!
Everyone misses her. Her son has been doing well at kindy but every now and then he asks where Mum is. Awww.
Jodie’s got a letter from her son. He misses her, they’re keeping the house clean, Dad’s doing the bills, he can’t think of much else so bye!
Sarah, who has a very ugly looking bruise on her elbow, has a letter from her girlfriend Kim. She’s proud of Sarah and misses her. But Kim knows it means a lot to Sarah.
Rebecca’s got a letter from her husband. Him and the kids are missing her a lot. Awww.
Her husband says he’s finally realised what an excellent job she’s done over the last ten years at home, looking after him and the kids.
Shannan’s super proud of his people this week so he’s got a reward for them after their training session. Can you guess what it might be? Yes! It’s letters from home!
Sharlene and Craig have a letter from Emma, their daughter. And a cute picture of Emma sitting on some gym equipment.
We don’t get to see who Lara and Leigh got letters from. Awww.
Challenors get their letters in with Damien, who’s the current ball babysitter.
Damien’s wife misses him but she can’t wait to welcome the new-Damien back home. His son is also proud of him.
No letter revelations for Nathaniel or Joe, either.
And after another ad break it’s weigh-in time. And everyone’s nervous!
Except for the Westrens since they have immunity, of course.
Hayley’s in a red dress today. Is it a sign? Or a random selection?
First to weigh in will be The Westrens, since they’re basically irrelevant.
Craig’s hoping to be under 100kg. Sharlene and Craig have a competition for who can get there first.
Craig’s Previous: 105.1kg
Craig’s Current: 101.4kg
Craig’s Loss: 3.7kg
It was the old Craig who was begging to go home last week, he’s changed since then, he tells Hayley.
Sharlene’s Previous: 103.6kg
Sharlene’s Current: 100.8kg
Sharlene’s Loss: 2.8kg
Not quite enough to beat Craig to the punch!
Lara’s Previous: 94.2kg
Lara’s Current: 92.9kg
Lara’s Loss: 1.3kg
She doesn’t look too impressed by the number but hey, it’s another 1.3kg!
Leigh’s Previous: 115.7kg
Leigh’s Current: 115.1kg
Leigh’s Loss: 0.6kg
WATER LOADED! Nobody says it but I bet some are thinking it.
Westren’s Total: 8.4kg
Westren’s Percentage: 2.01%
Not great, but they have immunity anyway.
Shannan’s putting it down to them taking part in Temptation. He says every diet on the outside fails because they eat well for 3 or 4 days and then have one bad meal and are back to square one. Lesson for everyone there.
Moon’s next.
Sarah’s Previous: 141kg
Sarah’s Current: 137.5kg
Sarah’s Loss: 3.5kg
Can’t’ve expected too much after that massive pig out at Temptation and Sarah acknowledges as much.
Rebecca’s Previous: 105.9kg
Rebecca’s Current: 103.6kg
Rebecca’s Loss: 2.3kg
She seems pleased by that.
Kellie’s Previous: 117.8kg
Kellie’s Current: 115.3kg
Kellie’s Loss: 2.5kg
Jodie’s Previous: 94.9kg
Jodie’s Current: 94.1kg
Jodie’s Loss: 0.8kg
Don’t think that’s going to be enough! Jodie says it’s terrible and she’s disappointed because she’s trained hard.
Jodie says she’s missing her family but she needs to be there.
Moon’s Total: 9.1kg
Moon’s Percentage: 1.98%
Challenors need at least 9.3kg between the three of them. Should be fairly easy, 3.1kg each?
Find out after another bloody ad break.
Joe’s Previous: 127.3kg
Joe’s Current: 124.5kg
Joe’s Loss: 2.8kg
Slipping behind already!
Nathaniel’s Previous: 128.2kg
Nathaniel’s Current: 123.6kg
Nathaniel’s Loss: 4.6kg
Nathaniel’s dragging them back from the edge again.
Damien needs at least 1.9kg. Should be easily doable for the big man.
Damien’s Previous: 209.9kg
Damien’s Current: 202.2kg
Damien’s Loss: 7.7kg
Huge loss from the big man. He’s happy with that but he was hoping for 10kg so he’d be under the 200kg mark already.
Hayley tells him that since Day One he’s already lost 32.2kg. Big round of applause from everyone at that.
Challenor’s Total: 15.1kg
Challenor’s Percentage: 3.24%
That means they’re in first place and The Moons are now below the Yellow Line. But with The Westrens being safe The Duncans still need to beat The Challenors.
The Duncans need 11.1kg, though they do have a 1kg weight advantage to make it a tiny bit easier.
Jarrod’s Previous: 126.8kg
Jarrod’s Current: 122.5kg
Jarrod’s Loss: 4.3kg
Good start!
Meg’s Previous: 123kg
Meg’s Current: 118.6kg
Meg’s Loss: 4.4kg
Family total at 8.7kg.
Emma only needs 2.4kg!
Emma’s Previous: 120.3kg
Emma’s Current: 114.8kg
Emma’s Loss: 5.5kg
Romped home!
Duncan’s Total: 14.2kg – 15.2kg with advantage
Duncan’s Percentage: 4.11%
Very, very impressive. And added on top of that Emma is also the week’s Biggest Loser.
Challenors and Moons will be facing Elimination. Not so bad for Moons, they can pick Jodie as they were going to before.
But The Challenors? Oooh, that’s going to suck. Joe seems the most sensible option, but will they do it? Since Joe’s not well liked he’d be an easy choice to vote out. Smart choice would be to send Damien in since nobody will want to vote the big fella out…
Ad break in between, obviously.
After the ads we’re straight into the Elimination Room.
Who’s going to walk in?
Jodie and Damien!
Lara just comes right out and says it’s ridiculous.
Personally I think they should give a big “EFF YOU” and vote out the bigger threat – Damien!
Lara’s disappointed in the Red Team putting Damien forward and in Damien for putting himself forward. He needs to be there and he knows it. Why’s he sitting there?
Lara asks him if he’s ready to go home and Damien says it’s up to them. Hayley asks him as well and Damien says he needs to be there, going home might let him slip into bad habits again, that much closer to the grave.
VOTE HIM OUT. Don’t let the shitty guilt trip work!
Damien’s “taking a hit for the team”, he says.
Jarrod says it’s disgraceful that Damien’s sitting there. Joe should have manned up and volunteered to go home for the team, as he should have done the first week.
And then Craig finally speaks up and says what I’ve been saying for the last few paragraphs – they’re going for the sympathy vote, Craig says. They’ll put Damien up every week because nobody will vote for him. And Craig’s not going to be played for a fool.
Lara asks him if he cares about his body at all. Her heart ached for him when he walked in on the first day and when something gets hard she thinks to herself if Damien can do it, she can do it. It’s a gamble he shouldn’t be taking, she says.
Jodie had breast cancer in 2004, apparently. She put her kids through a lot of grief at the time and she doesn’t want them to go through it again. Earlier this year (2010) she had a twisted bowel and her nine year old found her on the floor, bleeding, and he thought she was dead. :-(
She’s not trying to fish for sympathy, she says, it was the yoyo dieting that caused her bowel to twist and she doesn’t want to put her family through that again. She’s not ready to go home, she only lost 800grams this week, she hasn’t lost 32kg like Damien and she’s no threat.
Damien’s last plea? He has lots of reasons to be there. They know why he needs to be there. His son wrote to him that it would be good to see him running when they see the new Dad.
Arg, don’t fall for it people. If they want to play the game SHOW THEM HOW IT’S DONE.
Anyway, time to vote. First person to four votes will go home. No ties this week, either.
Lara’s first to vote. She says it’s a hard decision as she’s friends with both and one of them is a real inspiration every day.
That said though, she needs this person to understand how serious this game is, for their life. That playing russian roulette with their life like this isn’t okay and she’s really disappointed with them.
So Lara’s voted for Damien. GOOD GIRL!
Emma’s next. Emma’s sorry she has to do this, but she’s really disappointed in a few people for putting them in this position, but she’s also voted for Damien. GOOD GIRL!
Leigh’s next. Leigh says Jodie and Damien both need to be there a lot, both are inspirational – Jodie because of her injury (?) and Damien because of his weight.
But Leigh can see through the tactic Red are trying to employ and he thinks everyone can tell they’re not happy about it. So he’s also voted for Damien. GOOD BOY!
One more vote and Damien’s going home.
Jarrod says the person he’s voting for, it’s a tough choice but he votes tactically every time and if they want to play russian roulette with their lives, he’s happy to pull the trigger – he’s also voted Damien. GOOD BOY!
Four votes for Damien so he’s been eliminated and it serves him right.
Damien says it wouldn’t’ve mattered who they put up for elimination (true, but Joe would be fine on the outside) and the sympathy vote was in the background (lies. that was the primary motivator and we all know it) but the gamble hasn’t paid off.
Jodie’s very relieved to still be there. And she thinks Red playing “the dirty card”, even though she doesn’t like to call it that, but she’s calling it as she sees it. She says everyone there knows they’ll keep putting Damien up if they think he won’t be sent home, and that’s not right.
Damien says it’s been an amazing journey. Lots of the girls are in tears, Lara’s bawling. Damien thanks them all for being part of his life.
Damien thinks it’ll be tough doing it on the outside.
Lara’s really upset, she tells Hayley. Sharlene looks pretty peeved that they’ve upset Lara so much. She’s disappointed in Red and she’s upset they’ve sent the one person who needs to be there more than anyone, all because his stupid team put him forward. And she actually says stupid team!
And nobody is disagreeing!
Hayley says she speaks for everyone when she wishes him the best of luck. But it’s time to say goodbye!
He, unlike Greg, actually gets a bunch of hugs. Awww!
Damien says his journey was short, but he’s changed a lot in that time. He’s lost 34kg and he’s still got a long way to go. More hugging for Lara!
Damien tells us he owes it to his wife and kids to keep going. But he’s ready to go home, he’s learned enough he thinks.
Wednesday night… EXPLOSION! Jarrod comes right out and calls Joe gutless for not standing up for his brother.
Then a shock return to the weigh-in room. Each team will cast one vote in some Biggest Loser twist that will turn the game on its head?
Hayley says they’ll get to vote for one family they want out of this game. Yeahhhh, they’re not going to eliminate an entire family. Especially since gutless Joe and Nathaniel would almost certainly get the majority of votes!
