TBL 6×10: The Chinese Yum Cha Temptation of Inevitability
Previously on The Biggest Loser Sarah-Jayne’s bitchy attitude caught up with her at Elimination!
Tonight, Sarah-Jayne’s elimination causes The Duncans to blow up at those who voted her out.
Also, Temptation is some disgusting Chinese yum cha type affair. And it looks like quite a few people will be partaking.
Out in the loungeroom, waiting for the verdict, are the Blue and White teams. Emma calls Sharlene “Ma?”
Sharlene’s still a bit upset about Craig putting himself in her place. She says it’s like he’s abandoned her.
Lara says he must have been feeling pretty crap to want to go home. Jarrod tells us he hopes the Red and Black teams grant Craig’s wish and send him home.
Which, of course, they haven’t! Cue Red and Black walking into the lounge room.
Sarah says it’s nothing personal against any of them, it’s just a decision that had to be made.
Sharlene bursts into tears, expecting Sarah-Jayne to walk around the corner “with her lovely big happy smiley face.”
But then Craig comes around the corner and Sharlene screams she hates him but gets up and goes for a hug. Awwww!
Meg’s shattered. She asks us why you’d send home someone who was working hard every day and wanted to stay over someone who wanted to go home.
Jarrod says last week Greg said he wanted to go home and they honoured that. So it’s kind of disappointing the others didn’t do that, too.
Jodie says that Sarah-Jayne said she could do it at home.
Craig wanted to go home, he’s wasting his chance there, Emma says. Craig’s sick and on the floor most of the time, doesn’t go to the gym a lot.
Emma’s not happy!
Nathaniel tells us that White got SO MAD. Thanks, Nathaniel, we hadn’t noticed.
Lara then, finally, speaks up and says that she doesn’t want to fight about this because they’re going to have to do it every week.
Jarrod tells us he thinks they’re all weak… so White’s going to walk away. Erm, okay.
But he assures us it’ll be like a red flag to a bull and they’ll go twice as hard this week. We’ll see.
Big gym isn’t big gym, shortly thereafter. Everyone wanders in to find the gym decked out with lovely Chinese decorations, including a big dragon and some paper lanterns and fans.
Hayley says that since The Duncans enjoyed their Chinese so much they thought they’d tempt them all with a Chinese yum cha banquet.
And the prize for winning? Immunity. Not for one person, for the entire family. So they’re all thinking they’ll be needing that!
There’s six courses. For each course each family will be served the same dish. One person can do all the eating or the whole family can share the load and the calories.
If a family passes on a dish or doesn’t finish a dish, they’re out.
First, tempting, yum cha treat?
Not sure, yet.
Blue’s not going for it. Leigh was a little tempted but he knew Shannan would be annoyed. So Westrens are out.
Shortly followed by the Challenors, because they’re not taking part in Temptations.
With two teams out, Moon family decides to take a punt.
Or Sarah uses a stomach problem, post-elimination, as an excuse to participate. She says she missed out on calories.
None of the other girls seem overly impressed by Sarah’s decision.
Jarrod then agrees to take part because they couldn’t let The Moons have a free run.
And then suddenly Sharlene decides the Westrens will in fact take part.
First course is a dish worth 176 calories. Sarah’s hoping it’s not seafood. Guess she’s not a fan of fish?
After an ad break we find out it’s… steamed prawn dumplings!
Sarah’s making faces. She’s horrified. Serves you right you massive idiot.
Kellie takes one for her team and eats them all though.
Most of the others seem to be dividing them, too.
Next dish comes out, apparently it smells alright. Emma’s hoping for honey chicken.
All three families have another go.
This time it’s 300 calories worth of chicken’s feet.
Lara’s making claw hands at the camera.
Sharlene’s the first to brave them and Lara’s giggling and says, “Yuck! Shar you just ate a foot!”
Sharlene says she’s never eaten chicken feet before and probably never will again but the flavour wasn’t too bad. Well, der, obviously people like eating them, that’s why they’re on proper Chinese restaurant menues!
They’ve had the sour, now the sweet.
Egg Custard Tarts, worth 700 calories.
Sharlene says it’s become a bit like a competition, they’re all kind of laughing and not thinking about the calories.
Red’s thinking about what the trainers will think…
Next dish is steamed pork buns! Lara and Leigh are excited, despite the 1,000 calorie count. Apparently it’s the first, second, third, fourth thing they order. And then for dessert.
Now they’re all laughing and munching away… Think they’ve all forgotten what they’re there for.
Fifth course is an extra tall steam container. 2,000 calories of egg-fried rice. The Black Team are sharing the rice around to lighten to load.
Sarah says to her teammates that they’ve eaten all these calories already, they can’t stop now? Stupid. Quit while you’re behind.
Sixth course is the final course. It’s a massive steam basket, like large pizza size.
Lara gets a whiff and wants to throw up right away.
3,000 calories for the final dish.
All three teams are going again.
Sarah says to her teammates that she’s got to keep going. Jodie’s horrified, as are the other two. Keep asking her if she’s sure.
Peking Duck. 3,000 calories.
Damien says that’s 2 days hard work, just for that. Nevermind whatever else they’ve got stored. Red’s quite happy they didn’t participate.
Kellie won’t eat duck. At all. Sarah’s practically drooling great big puddles before she starts eating and then says she’ll do anything for immunity.
Craig is trying to help Sharlene get through the duck. Lara’s holding a serviette over her nose and mouth. Obviously not a fan.
Sarah’s getting cramps in her belly from having too much food in there and she’s looking at her cousins and hoping one of them will start helping her. I guess she’s going to threaten them with more of her customary growling if they don’t.
Jarrod doesn’t mind a bit of Peking Duck but he sees the other families still going and he needs to keep going to get immunity.
Meanwhile Sharlene’s verging on throwing up but Lara tells her to keep it down or it’ll be a vomit-fest!
Meg’s eaten about half the peking duck in the end, she says, but her and Jarrod have gotten through it all. Congratulations, I guess?
Westrens have also finished.
But Sarah’s still going. And looking really disgusting with her mouth stuffed full of duck, grease running out of her mouth. Revolting.
Meg says that the Moons are playing as individuals, the other girls aren’t helping Sarah at all. Probably because it was Sarah’s stupid idea to participate in the first place.
Which is pretty much what Rebecca says to us, too.
Sarah finally gives up and spits what she had in her mouth into a bucket.
So, well done, you ate a bunch of calories for no result!
Meanwhile we have a tie between the Westrens and the Duncans. So it’s down to a decider-plate.
First, each family must nominate a member to indulge in the final course.
Sharlene’s the sacrificial goat for Westrens and Jarrod’s volunteering for Duncans.
Final course comes out. Not a big basket this time.
Jarrod and Sharlene lift the lids to reveal…
Oh, god. No. No, no, no.
It’s a Chinese delicacy, the century egg. They’ve been preserved in clay and ash for months.
And they have to eat not one, but two! Worth 160 calories.
Apparently the smell’s pretty bad, Sharlene informs us. I gather this will be first past the post as Hayley rings the bell to indicate the start of proceedings.
Sharlene’s threatening to throw up a second after putting a half an egg in her mouth. And Leigh’s egging her on, saying she can’t throw up now. She’s got them into it, she’s got to get them out of it!
Sharlene then finally manages to choke it down.
Jarrod, meanwhile, is taking advice from his sisters to cut the eggs up and swallow them in pieces instead. But he can’t keep them down and eventually spits the parts in his mouth back up.
Sharlene only has a final piece to go and she says she didn’t think it would go down. But she did manage to choke it down, eventually!
Sharlene says she won’t be doing it again.
Making me sick even thinking about being in the same room as those eggs. :-X
The Westrens are now guaranteed a safe spot for next week.
Duncans are now really disappointed about eating 7,000 calories for nothing. Going to be a hard week.
Especially when the trainers turn up. Going to suck to be anyone but the Challenors after the ad break!
All the trainers rock up for the day. Steve’s not too worried because they were above the Yellow Line so at least he’ll have all his people.
Tiff’s upset to see she only has three ninjas left. Awww.
The contestants explain the elimination bits and bobs, Craig putting himself up instead of Sharlene. Craig’s had enough and Shannan tells us he thinks Craig’s a man in distress.
Sharlene says Craig’s been a basket case and she’s been copping it a bit as a result.
Shannan says that yeah, he’s had a hard week, but he needs to pull his socks up and get on with it.
But wait, there’s more! They’ve also had Temptation.
They explain that the reward is immunity. Tiff laughs, Michelle says it sounds tempting.
Joe puts his hand up and says they were the only ones not to participate. Sharlene says, quite sarcastically, “Go get a star, Joe.” Yeah, they did well to turn it down but bragging on it makes you look like a dick, Joe.
Six course yum cha, thousands and thousands and thousands of calories and Tiffiny’s getting more and more annoyed. Mish is stunned by it being over 7,000 calories.
Sarah explains that she hadn’t eaten much due to being ill so that was her “strategy”.
Steve says from what he’s hearing, Sarah did most of the eating. He says to her that he hopes she can run because she’s going to need to. Sarah then explains that the doctor’s have told her not to do any exercise as they think she may have an ulcer. So she’s even more of a massive idiot than we thought!
Sharlene says she ate it all and won immunity. Shannan tells us he’s not going to accept any excuses from Sharlene, due to how many calories they ate.
Commando Steve takes his people off to the gym and shouts lots at the girls to urge them on, since Sarah, the one who got them into this, can’t train.
Rebecca’s getting upset over being yelled at because she’s trying as hard as she can and she just wants to tell him to back off sometimes.
Afterwards Steve tells her she’s done well and that kind of effort is what he wants from now on.
Mish congratulates her team on arriving in the gym for not partaking in Temptation and having the confidence in themselves. She’s got a huge grin on her face, Damien says.
Damien says he’s actually starting to enjoy his training sessions with Michelle, which is a big turnaround for him.
But Mish says that one of the biggest things for Damien would be something that is quite a small thing for most of us.
It’s been three years or more since Damien’s managed to put his own socks on. And during this week he decided to just have a try and he managed to put his own socks on without any dramas at all.
Damien says the next progression is for the pressure stockings he has to wear during training to go away too.
He’s also looking forward to “getting down and dirty” with his son. Erm…
Shannan’s working his team very hard. He’s disappointed that Blue won immunity via an eating competition. They need to change the way they look at their time at Camp Biggest Loser.
Craig knows he needs to get his mind in the right place. And he can’t be dragging Sharlene down into a hole with him.
Nowhere to run or hide in the boxing ring, so Shannan gets him in there for some boxing training.
Shannan’s trying to whap him with the mitts, as he was doing to Leigh. Keeps whapping away to try and push him further and further.
Shannan tells us that as the rounds go on, Craig starts to realise what it takes to fight on. And Sharlene says she finally sees the spark in his eyes and he comes back fighting.
Craig still has a long way to go, Shannan says, but he was getting it there at the end. Discipline, put your hands back up, prove there’s a bit of fight left in the old dog. Protect yourself and protect your family.
Time for family weigh-ins again!
And this week, the winning family will get control of The Contest. Whatever that control might entail.
First family to weigh in will be The Duncans.
And even though SJ got eliminated, she’s still very much a part of this competition?!
Tomorrow night, will SJ make a shock return at the weigh-in? Ooer.
And Commando Steve will be on the warpath, getting his people out in the rain and mud to train with the heavy rope once again.
Annnnnnnd The Contest will start, but we all know we won’t find out the result till Friday so let’s not get too excited.
