TBL 6×07: Leigh decides if he should stay or if he should go. And another Contest kicks off.

Previously on The Biggest Loser The Challenors got put in the doghouse for dogging Greg.
Leigh “won” at Temptation, giving him a choice between staying in the game or taking $25,000 and running away.

Tonight we find out if he’s going to stick around. Each of the families will also weigh in together, rather than seperately.
Then The Contest begins again. Weightlifting this week!

As the episode starts everyone is filing into the weigh-in room. Everyone is a little baffled, thinking they can’t possibly be weighing in again already.

But Hayley says yes, they are in fact going to be weighed again. This year, it’ll be twice weekly weigh-ins. But this time instead of one person weighing in, it’ll be everyone weighing in. So they can see how much the family has lost as a whole.
Because we can’t do the math for ourselves, I suppose. This is going to get real boring if they persist with it.

But before all that, unfinished business with Leigh!
Is he going to take the money and go home or is he going to stay?

Leigh says it’s been a hard decision. The money would be super helpful. They could pay for most of their wedding stuff, Lara’s ring and dress and so on.
Sharlene’s crying and says she’s proud of him regardless of his decision.

Leigh’s had a day to think it through so what’s his decision?

“Hayley, guys… I’ve decided to take the money…” “Whaaaat?” “And put it back into the competition.” Damien interjected with that.
Afterwards you can see Lara saying “Fuckin’ hell!”
Hayley says even she was fooled for a moment.

Leigh says he needs to be there more than he needs the $25,000.
Sharlene says they’ve won now, just seeing the change in Leigh. Awww!

So the prizemoney is intact. And the $100,000 for the winning family remains. And they’re going to get an update each week on how much each family has lost.
Oh, I see, that’s why they’re weighing in together.

… it’s still kinda boring.

Westrens Start: 470.6kg
Westrens Current: 433.6kg
Loss: 37kg
Percentage: 7.86%

Not bad.
Sharlene says she’s feeling good. It’s a start. She can’t wait to get it under 400kg but it’s a start!

The Moons weigh in second.

Moons Start: 499.9kg
Moons Current: 472.9kg
Loss: 27kg
Percentage: 5.4%

Wow, the four of them weigh almost half a ton! Or weighed. Don’t anymore!
Not bad considering they faced elimination on Sunday.
Sarah says it’s a huge reality check. They were walking into their graves before. Now they’re turning it around. It’ll be Sex in the City style, Sarah says. They’re going to be hot.
Mmmkay!

Challenors turn. Nathaniel’s been standing around looking like a right fucking grump throughout this.
Only 3 Challenors, don’t forget!

Challenors Start: 516.2kg
Challenors Current: 484.1kg
Loss: 32.1kg
Percentage: 6.22%

Again, not too shabby considering they were facing elimination on Sunday.
Damien goes to give Nathaniel a high five and Nathaniel gives him a very halfhearted response. Obviously the tensions are still running high in that family.

Just The Duncans to go. They were the Biggest Losing Family on Sunday with Jarrod the overall Biggest Loser. Meg had just eaten 2,000 calories the day before, Emma reminds us.
Yeah, they don’t count so much when you puke them back into a bucket, Emma.

Duncans Start: 537.5kg
Duncans Current: 493.7kg
Loss: 43.8kg
Percentage: 8.15%

So the Duncans have a comfortable lead at this point.
Meg says it’s amazing, seeing the 40+ loss for the whole family. Means they’ve done about 10kg each which is great!

Hayley bids them a fond farewell and tells them to remember to expect the unexpected!

Damien tells us he’d like to see the White Team come undone this week. They’ve been acting cocky and he’d like to see them off their perch.
Oh, Damien, you had us backing you because you’re the biggest contestant ever. Don’t throw it away by being a jerk and a sore loser. Work harder than them, that’s the way to knock them off their perch.

Shannan wanders in to see his team down a member and says to them, “No chance! No way he took the money.” Not falling for their tricks this year? Smart boy!
Sharlene mock-throttles him and then they discuss the team weigh-in/weightloss thing.

But then we’re off to the Black Team with Commando Steve wanting to build his team up so they don’t fall below the Yellow Line again.

Sarah’s already doing the kettle bell lifting wrong. She’s told to watch Jodie a few times to get it right and Steve shows her some more and she still can’t get it right. Rebecca tells Sarah to do what he says.
“I AM! I AM! I FREAKING AM!” Rebecca tries to tell her she just needs to keep her arms straight and Sarah then starts screaming again about how everything she does is wrong.

Yeah, no shit, you’re doing the exercise wrong and they’re trying to help you do it right. Sigh.

Sarah’s sobbing and in tears, again. Steve tells her five more and she does slightly better and Steve finally lets her off the hook and gets them to do some running and get down to the ground and do a pushup then get back up and run again.

Steve says you could describe it as tough love, but he trains one way – he’s not going to back down just because he’s training women. Good man!

Sarah’s finally settled down and now Rebecca’s freaking out, saying she’s had enough of this.
Rebecca says her heart is beating out of her chest and it hurts and Steve says if you can talk and you can breathe, you’re fine. It’s just a high heart rate because you’re exercising!
He’s not asking her to do anything she can’t do. He believes in her, she should believe in herself!
“Why do you believe in me?” “Because I believe everyone can do it!”
Steve says he’s only asking them to give 100% physically and mentally. Yes, you’re going to get knocked down but it’s how you get back up and keep fighting. Never give up!

Shannan says today’s session is about Leigh proving he can step up and be a man. Going to be a hard training session!
Shannan wants Leigh to beat Lara in the training session. She’s been beating him in every training session so far and he’s getting frustrated by that.
Lara says Leigh’s stepped it up today and it was good to see!

Michelle’s got her boys outside on the basketball court. Damien and Joe are beating up a tractor tire with sledgehammers. Not with a lot of conviction.
Nathaniel’s lugging a tire that has bricks inside it. As usual, he looks super excited by being there.
Michelle says that now Greg is missing the other three have to bring something extra to make up for it.

Mish tells us her team has been on the back foot from the start and then they decided to send Greg home and that’s been even more traumatic.
But they need to get over it and move on or their team is going to fall apart.

Joe says he’s bringing more weightloss. Damien’s bringing commitment – when Mish sets homework he’ll have it all done.
Nathaniel says he doesn’t know what he’s going to bring to the table.
Michelle then puts on a surprised face and says to us, “I’m sorry? What?!”

Michelle takes Nathaniel aside for a chat and asks him what’s got him so upset? Everything about being there has upset him. But things like having to send one of his uncles home was hard.
We then get footage of Damien from the elimination decision saying that Greg’s going to cut and quit anyway so they may as well put him up. Didn’t see that before! Puts a very different spin on things, that does.
Nathaniel was closest to Greg of the whole team and so he’s been feeling it the most, too.
Michelle tells Nathaniel he should look at it like he owes Greg to stand up and fight. Make his sacrifice worthwhile.
“You got what it takes?” “Yeah.”
Afterwards we get a side bit with Nathaniel saying he hopes he can pick things up now and get going. Most of those side bits have been with other people, this was the first with just one contestant that I can recall!

Tiffiny’s got Yellow Belts for her Health Ninjas if they’ve burnt 2,000 calories each. Sarah-Jayne did 3,896 calories. Emma was unwell and thus only did 1,363 calories, which Tiffiny says is good.
Meg did 4,753 calories, causing Tiff to bounce with glee!
Jarrod turned his off after 2,000 calories, but he got there too.
Their Yellow Belts represent being closer to their goals and they’re coming along on their JOURNEY.

Tiff and Jarrod are on the treadmills. Tiff’s going to race him for a while. “Chase me, Jarrod! Chase me!” If he won’t, I will!
Tiff asks Jarrod to give him 10 more seconds but he cuts out 5 seconds early and Tiff gets him back on the treadmill after a short rest.
Jarrod says Tiffiny really knows how to put the pain into his body!

Lots of “Good boy!” comments from Tiff. It’s like she’s training a little ninja puppy!

And now it’s time for The Contest.
Some weight benches are set up in the shed. Everyone’s hoping to win this week with last week’s reward showing how important it can be to win. Commando Steve’s eviction put a real damper on Black Team’s training.

Jarrod says he really wants to win over the Red Team, purely because he doesn’t like them. Ordinarily a comment like that would annoy me but you know what? After the revelation of Damien’s behind the scenes behaviour tonight I’d say it’s a pretty fair call!

Tonight’s challenge will be one of strength!
Damien reckons he’ll have it in the bag. Sarah’s going to be the Moon family champion. Sarah, the quitter, is going to be their champion…
Jarrod’s going to be The Duncan’s champion and Leigh will be the Westren’s champion once more.

The first round is curling weights. 10kg bar. How many curls can you do?

Expecting a lot of anguished grunting from Sarah a few curls into the challenge!

Champions have to complete one curl to Hayley’s count. If you fail to complete a curl in time, you’re out.

One! Everyone manages the first, of course. And the second. And the third.
Seven. Sarah’s struggling already. Jarrod figures she doesn’t have much of a chance against the three guys.

Twenty-One! They’re all still hanging in there, though Sarah’s curls are getting a bit sloppier. She’s still managing it though, very gutsy performance!

The count gets to 25 and Sarah can’t quite manage it. Hayley says she should be really proud of herself anyway and her teammates obviously agree.
Sarah says three weeks ago she wouldn’t’ve managed even a single curl. But she gave it her best and that’s all she can do.

Round Two? Ante be upped, yo! 15kg bar this time. Same rules as before, keep up with Hayley’s count. Curling yet again.

One! Damien’s already puffing a bit early on. Leigh looks to be struggling a little. Jarrod’s totally in the zone, very composed.
Thirteen. They’re all strill hanging in there, though Damien’s obviously doing it a bit tougher.
But Leigh’s showing the strain even more when the count hits 29, then 30.

Leigh eventually gives up in between counts. Gives up! Quitter!
Leigh wishes Jarrod and Damien good luck as he returns to his family.

Round three, the bars will have 20kg on them. After every ten curls the weight will increase by 5kg. Sudden death! Last man standing wins!
Jarrod says competition brings out the best in him and wishes Damien good luck. Damien says Jarrod’s sounding like a bantam rooster at the moment and says he should keep it up.

One!
Both manage the first lift, of course.
Eight… nine… ten!

Time to up the weight. They have to put it back in the cradle for the weight increase so they get a short break in between.
They’ll now be curling 25kg.

Jarrod’s straining a bit harder this time. Seventh lift comes hard for him but his team is cheering him on…

Tomorrow night The Contest continues with Jarrod and Damien still lifting but Jarrod obviously doing it tougher than Damien.
Then the weekly Challenge – run up and down the stairs at a stadium 100 times. Ouch!

And it seems Red is missing from the Challenge… because they’re going to go visit Greg? And Damien’s going to beg forgiveness? Yeah, that’s going to be totally heartfelt.
