TBL 6×06: Temptation Tempts Terrible Teams

Previously on The Biggest Loser, Biggest Whiner Greg was eliminated, Jarrod was the week’s Biggest Loser and his family won Biggest Losing Family on top of that.

Tonight the fallout from the first elimination commences. Nobody seems real happy about the Challenors throwing Greg under the bus but really, what did everyone expect? They had to put someone up and the only other fair option would have been Joe, who used to be super healthy and would probably do fine on the outside.

… oh.

Also tonight the first Temptation. Because Temptation hasn’t gone off and DIED yet.

Everyone’s in a lounge room waiting for Rebecca or Greg to come back from elimination. Well, Red and Black are waiting, Blue and White already know who’s coming back!

Black team breaks into squeals and giggles as Rebecca comes into the room.

… and Red all have small smiles on their faces. Nathaniel’s a little surprised that Damien and Joe seemed pleased. Which is a crock since he was smiling too. It didn’t upset you at all, Nathaniel.

Sharlene’s surprised at Greg having been up for elimination and questions Red. Joe says they had no choice, someone had to go up.
Sarah-Jayne asks why they seem to be happy Greg’s gone. The Duncans came in as a family, even with their weakest moments.

Joe says it’s been a struggle all week, they’ve tried and tried to get him going. Then he pulls out the “What do you with a chain that’s got a bad link in it.”
Emma says you stay and you fix it. Joe says at some point it gets rusty and bad and what do you do, wait until it snaps?

It’s not flying with the Westrens either, who’ve had their struggles in the week. Lara says if they’d given up on each other they’d all be gone.
Sharlene says it is a struggle and maybe they should’ve given him a chance.

Next morning they come downstairs in a double line, totally natural-like. There’s a letter telling them to go outside and follow the trail. At the end of their trail their fate awaits.

Why couldn’t we just go straight from the Elimination bit to Temptation?

Oh, I see. The trail is a trail of gingerbreadmen. So the fatties can drool over the sight of sugary treats and want to eat them because they’re fat and that makes for great TV, I suppose!

They’re at North Head Fort for their first Temptation, Hayley announces. And they’ll be playing for $25,000. Wow. That’s a lot of money, especially this early in the game.
Which Nathaniel also says shocked him.

There’s ten picnic hampers on the table behind Hayley. One of them holds $25,000. The other nine have food in them. Ranging from 50 calories to 2,000 calories.
If you open the money basket, you get to keep the money. If you open a food basket you have to eat it.
You can either pass or participate.

There’s some kind of foot race first. I guess to get to their selected picnic basket?

Red team’s strategy is to not even go there.
Jarrod’s meant to be White teams sacrificial bunny but when the race starts Meg goes bounding towards the table too.

And much, much later Leigh trundles up as well. He figures the worst case is that he’ll get 2,000 calories so he’ll have one go.

Black team had discussed beforehand. They weren’t going to go for it either. But then they discussed it and Jodie gets a nudge from her team, saying she could burn it off easily.

What made Jarrod have a go? “I’m just hungry.” Oh yeah, Tiffiny’s going to kick your arse mate!

So Red’s the only one without a basket? At least Michelle will have one reason to be thankful!

Jodie’s revealing her basket first. If they don’t have the money in the Black Team’s basket she’s hoping for chocolate. Because she loves chocolate!

After the inevitable ad break… It’s a chicken drumstick, crumbed, 250 calories. And a sprig of parsley! Don’t forget the parsley!
It’s oily and cold, Jodie says. Her stomach’s churning. Jarrod’s laughing at her. Your turn still to come!

At least it’s only 250 calories. The Commando probably won’t murder her.

Meg’s turn next.

Ohhhh. “Ultimate picnic meal.” Half a roast chicken, with stuffing, potato salad, coleslaw and potato salad. And a bread roll with butter.
2,000 calories.
Yep. Tiffiny’s going to murder you!

No way she’s going to finish it. She’s already thinking she’ll be sick. She says she doesn’t really eat that much at home, she’s more of a drinker.

Jarrod? Jarrod can’t stop laughing. At his teammate. Who he relies on not to fall under the Yellow Line. He’s also happy the $25,000 is still in play.
He even says it would have made a nice meal! Good lord.

Meg’s struggling on through it. She gets through quite a lot of it. But then the inevitable happens and they have to get a bucket for her to puke her food back into.

Well. At least she won’t have the calories to burn off!

Sarah meanwhile says what a lot of us are thinking – “Sucked in!”

Meg says she won’t be playing Temptation again. Finally, a smart move!

In Jarrod’s basket? A Tim Tam. 100 calories.

Wait, what? Those suckers are 100 calories a pop? Holy crap.

Jarrod gobbles it up so fast nobody really gets a chance to look at it.

Leigh’s lucky last. What’s left? 50 calories of grapes, 75cal cracker and cheese, muffin 400 calories, 500 calorie cheesecake (one of Leigh’s faves), and a 1000 calorie slice of black forest cake with cream.

How would Leigh spend the $25,000? He’d pay for a nice retirement home for his parents!
Or, perhaps, his wedding to Lara. Aww!

Leigh opens his basket and lifts up the napkin… TO FIND TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS! SCORE!
Lara and Sharlene are screaming and in tears of excitement.
Leigh can’t wipe the smile off his face.

But Hayley can!
In order to take the cash there’s something he needs to know…

AD BREAK!

To take the money he’ll have to leave Camp Biggest Loser.

Oh, snap. :-/

Dude, you’ve got to say no. Your life is worth more than that!

Everyone’s devastated for the Westrens. They were planning a wedding with that money.

And something else they need to consider – that $25,000 will come out of the prize money for the Biggest Losing Family.
And because it’s such a hard decision to make Hayley will give him a day to think about it.

And now, finally, the trainers arrive at Camp to find out who went home at Elimination.

“Kind of predictable. Three Reds, Greg’s gone.” Michelle’s not at all surprised though she doesn’t look too happy by her family’s decision.

Red trot out their excuse of them thinking maybe the other teams wouldn’t send him home because of how dysfunctional their family had been.
Sarah-Jayne immediately takes issue with this as that’s not what Red were saying last night.

Damien tells us Sarah-Jayne had no right to jump in. Sarah-Jayne asks us who they think they are, lying to their trainer like that?

And today they’ve had a Temptation.
Michelle’s amazed at $25k being up in the first week.

And then Damien starts up being proud of not going for Temptation. Michelle gives a very halfhearted, sarcastic clap at that. She can’t look at her team.

Steve’s a little ticked off at Jodie having gone for Temptation. He says you can’t put a price on your health. He thinks his team has a lack of self confidence.

Tiff’s not too annoyed when Jarrod reveals his 100 calorie Tim Tam.

Then it’s Meg’s turn to reveal what she had. Tiffiny is horrified. And she says to us that this experience is priceless and they’re willing to give it up for $25 grand. “Shame on you, Warriors.”

Then Leigh’s turn. Shannan’s disappointed that Leigh went for it. But he doesn’t want to judge him without hearing Leigh’s reasoning. Leigh says he only took the chance for his wedding to Lara.

Then Shannan says Temptation is a metaphor for life. $25,000 is nothing compared to $300,000! “You don’t believe in yourself? You can’t be number one?” Shannan tells us that $25,000 won’t buy Leigh the self-respect he needs.

Michelle’s got a real kickass training session in mind. Lots of cardio and boxing and high intensity stuff. They’re a man down and Greg doesn’t have a chance so now they’ve got to pick up their game.
Joe says it was because of all the troubles they’ve had over the last week with Greg.
Michelle asks them if they’re happy Greg’s gone? Nathaniel says he’s not happy about it.

Michelle puts it to Damien that they’re annoyed they got caught in a lie. Damien says it wasn’t a lie, the main reason they put him up was because they didn’t think he’d be voted. “That’s the main reason?” “Well, not the main reason, but it was a reason, Michelle.”
“Be careful Damien because I am a smart woman!”

Cue montage of Greg flopping around the gym. That’s never going to get old, is it Mr Editor Man?
Michelle asks Nathaniel how Greg got put up. Greg wanted to be put up, Nathaniel says. How does he decide between Joe and Greg?
Nathaniel starts getting a bit teary and Michelle tells him not to cry!

Michelle tells them they all gave up on Greg long before elimination. She knows he quits in training, she was there, she saw it. But if they’d done everything she asked them to do they’d’ve dropped huge weight and they’d’ve been safe anyway.

Then during the proper training session Michelle starts giving them a kick up the date. They were all in the bottom half of weightloss. Girls half their size were losing more than them! They’re not stepping up to Biggest Loser standards.

Michelle’s going to give it to them today. They can’t stop today, tired or not, they have to keep going, no matter what. She’s going to be very annoyed if they’re under the Yellow Line again.

Nathaniel’s a bit upset. Michelle thinks he might be feeling a bit of remorse.

Nathaniel thinks they gave him a chance, asked if he was sure, Nathaniel was close to him apparently.
So if they gave him a chance, why’s he crying, Michelle asks? “Because we’ve just sent him to his grave.” Yeah, everyone’s going there eventually…

Meanwhile Commando Steve is back in his Army-Gym-Shed-Thing. He says there must be a reason their weightlosses weren’t up to scratch. He’s given them the dietary tips and exercise advice they need.

Jodie was going to be the one put up for elimination, Steve asks what happened? Rebecca says she gets along with everyone else in the house and she wouldn’t get voted out.
Why’d she put herself up? Because she thinks of everyone else ahead of herself. And in the future she won’t be putting herself up for Elimination.

Steve says they’ve obviously not been working hard enough. So he’s pushing them hard today. And bogan Sarah is puffing and panting and grunting away on the spinbike while Steve questions her about her exercise and food eating.
They’re trying to get to the bottom of why Sarah’s loss was the worst.
Kellie says whenever they say something Sarah takes it as a personal attack. “It just feels like it. It’s what I’ve had all my life!”
Steve tells her he’s not expecting her to get over it in five minutes. But she needs to start coping with it better and needs to really start working a lot harder in training.

Last week White was the team to beat, Tiff says. Winning weigh-ins and competitions and challenge.
“I’m worth more than a chicken!” Tiffiny’s got Meg slamming a ball into the mat over and over, repeating various mantras.
Tiffiny tells us she’s glad her team made the mistake in week two, when they could still correct their way of thinking. Later on? Not so much.

Leigh’s still pondering whether to take the $25,000. Craig says it’s only four or five months at work (WHAT THE HELL?! DJ’ing is obviously very fucking lucrative!) is it really worth his health. It’s only the price of a car.
Lara says it is a lot of money though.
Leigh says he could stay and throw away the money which will hurt. Or he could take it and kick things off on the outside for him and Lara.

Lara says she’d be in the same bind if it had been her.

Be amusing if Leigh left, leaving Lara with her potential in-laws but not her partner!

Off at training with Shannan and the Westrens, Leigh is really copping it today.
Shannan’s really egging him on today. “Leigh’s lazy and weak.” Shannan says it’s why he doesn’t have a job. He does some DJ’ing here and there but Lara’s the breadwinner of the family.
“Where’s the man that’s going to make decisions for your family? Where is he, hey? Crawled into a picnic basket?”
Oh man, Shannan’s going to get bagged for that.
“If you want Lara to marry you, you want to be a husband like that, you earn her respect!”

People’re going to call him a chauvinist but he’s spot on. Lara’s a strongwilled woman in her own right. She can hold her own against a big, strong, proud man.

Shannan sits them down afterwards and says if Leigh takes the money, this is what their life will be like. “What sort of man do you want to marry?” “One who’s able to support me and my family.” “And how do you get like that?” “You get strong and you work hard.”

Shannan says he wouldn’t tell them what to do, but… he’s not ready to get married. He’s not man enough yet.
Both Lara and Leigh nod and bow their heads at that.
Lara says it was the right thing to do, getting into Leigh’s head like that. He didn’t say don’t take the money at any point. Lara says it’s hard, going to work every day while Leigh isn’t working.
She loves him but she can’t just support him anymore, not if he’s going to get out there and work, stick with a job longer than 3 months. It’s hard!

Leigh still hasn’t decided and we’ve run out of time. So I guess we find out tomorrow night!

Where Commando Steve will also be doing battle against his team of women and their inevitable bitching at each other.
Also, The Contest is back and this time it’s about lifting weights. Lots of weights. A lot of times, presumably. Fun!
