TBL 5×67: THE BIGGEST LOSER AUSTRALIA 2010 FINALE!
… and now, The Biggest Loser Finale. WOOOOOOO!!!
Lisa, Wayne, Joe and Shannon are the Final Four competing for the big prize. The other contestants will also be competing for a minor prize.
Except for Chris, who accepted a payout.
And except for that guy who’s up on charges of possessing nudie pics of minors.
But otherwise they’ll be trying to win money. Yeah!
Hayley wanders out on stage in a shiny sparkly black dress. Off one shoulder. Hair all slicked back. Makes her look kinda plastic.
And now LET THE REPEATED FOOTAGE BEGIN!
Woo, training montage! Woo new-host Hayley! Woo, Commando Steve! Woo, lots of running! Woo, 42km Marathon!
Woo, Daina in a bikini again!
Awww, Geoff leaving again due to ill-health. Yay Chris taking the money and running again! Aww lots of other people getting eliminated!
Tonight… who’ll be the next Biggest Loser? Who’ll be the 2010 Biggest Loser?
Oh right, Hayley reminds us that Chris taking the $15,000 payout means the final cash prize available is actually only $185,000.
$370,000 if Lisa wins, due to the Double bracelet. $0 if Shannon wins, due to the Nothing bracelet!
First couple to step out on the stage is the first couple eliminated – Romi and Allan, the married couple.
Romi’s still quite overweight but she seems a lot more healthy than she was.
Allan’s actually made the more progress of the two. Still overweight but looking much healthier than he was. Can never really expect too much from Week One eliminees.
Next to return… Geoff! He’d left due to medical issues rather than being eliminated. Still obviously overweight but nowhere near as pudgy as he was when he was on the show. But he’s looking better.
He says it was tough but the support from family and friends helped a lot and he’s feeling great now.
Then it’s Jenni’s turn to hit the stage. Still overweight but not the blob she was in the past. Looking much healthier and happier now!
She says that she learned that while the number seems huge that you need to lose, you can definitely do it!
And now it’s time to see Joe returning home after his final day at Camp.
Heaps and heaps of people there to greet him, including his brother Rick who’d been his partner.
Joe’s Mum is surprised at the change. And his Dad says he’s proud of both of his boys.
Joe’s girlfriend says he looks amazing. She can’t stop grinning up at him.
Joe says he’s glad he kept fighting because it was all worth it in the end.
Week 4 montage. That was the week The Firm was revealed. Also the week the twins, Elise and Teneale went home. And I had a sad!
Week 5 was Caitlin and Daina versus the other couples. With the girls emerging triumphant and sending Wayne home!
Week 6 – no more Couples! And Chris was a bastard at the challenge, tossing everyone’s tires outside the course!
Time to welcome back The Pink Ladies Elise and Teneale and… Wow. Both are absolutely stunning. One still looks hotter than the other but I still can’t remember which twin is which, sorry!
Okay, it’s Teneale that’s the hotter one. They’re both happier and excited for the weigh-in and so on.
Time to welcome back… Chris! Who is finally clean shaven. Must have spent some of that running-away-money on a razor? Good for him!
He’s still looking quite solid but not really fat anymore.
Chris says he’s got no regrets for leaving, despite seeing all the others do things in New Zealand and so on. The $15,000 has been put to good use.
Jarna’s turn to come out on stage and… well, not much can be done about her face but she’s not fat anymore. Not by any stretch of the imagination. She’s looking pretty good!
Hayley calls her one of the hottest principals in Australia!
Jarna says it’s one of the hardest things she’s ever done and one of the best.
Caitlin’s up next. As you’d expect for such a large starting weight, she’s still obese… but there’s actual attractive curves to her body now, not just endless rolls of fat.
She was the heaviest girl to ever come on the show and now she’s looking amazing. Caitlin said she never thought she’d walk down a catwalk in heels in a pretty dress with her hair down and so on. She knows she has a ways to go but she’s sure she’ll get there in the end, now.
And now Rick. And oh man, he’s got to be a good chance at winning. If you didn’t know what show you were watching you’d think he’s just a model strutting down the catwalk.
He’s always wanted to be a police officer… is that a possibility now? Yes, yes it is. 7 weeks to go till his girl has her baby, too. And he’s really looking forward to that.
And now we see Wayne head back home after the last day at Camp.
Fairly small gathering for him but it’s his second homecoming so not so surprising.
Everyone looks really excited to see him though and tell him he looks fantastic… and then he drops the “Final Four” bombshell to a bunch more cheers!
Phoebe’s wearing a purple dress!!!
Oh yeah, Phoebe’s turn to come out on stage. She doesn’t look that different to when she left. Phoebe entered the show as a 19 year old and left a lot more confident in herself and so on.
David’s turn to wander out and… He’ll be fighting it out with Rick for the title of best of the eliminees, methinks. Dude’s skinny as! And totally hamming it up for the crowd.
David says being home with his wife and kids has been great, kids are happy, he’s been skydiving with his wife (!!!) and biking and so on.
Now it’s time for… Commando Steve to come out on stage. Without his sunglasses! It’s like he’s naked!
In a nice suit, no tie of course. Probably a safety precaution. He might use it to kill someone.
Hayley’s a little scared of him still.
Steve says the boys he had did the training just like any soldier… dodging Hayley’s question of whether they’d be in his special forces unit…
Phil’s turn on stage now. And yeah, he’s still a mad idiot Bulldogs fan. Big surprise!
He’s looking very skinny though! Hayley reminds him that he and Joe said more than once that the Commando had a screw loose and we get a shot of Steve grinning and nodding. Bwahahaha!
Phil ran the marathon in the desert and actually ran the fastest time out of everyone, apparently.
Daina’s the last one eliminated so she’s the last one on-stage and hoo boy. She’s stunning in a beautiful red dress.
She confronted her own demons, even though she originally only came on the show for Caitlin’s sake.
And now we get a bunch of montage footage of all the Masterclass stuff!
Hazem El Masri, Joh Bailey and Janella Purcell are in the audience watching on, too.
And now it’s time for Shannan and Michelle montage, woo!
Michelle says her job is fantastic. She gets to change people’s lives. Shannan eats, lives, breathes and dreams Biggest Loser. His heart and soul are invested in his contestants. His ultimate goal is to show people a taste of how good it feels to be fit, happy and healthy. Michelle’s not there to be their best friend, she’s there to show them they’ve got more they can give.
They both love being a part of giving people’s lives back. Michelle loves the show and what they do.
They finally come out on stage. Shannan’s in a grey suit with a black muscle shirt underneath. Michelle’s in a mauve piece of wrapping paper/heatshrink plastic she must have picked up backstage or something.
She looks great, but she always does. Dress is pretty ugly though!
Shannan says the contestants were tough but also tough to train. His most memorable moment was when Shannon had gone down for the third time before the 600m mark back on Day One. Shannan thought he was beyond saving. But after 18 years in the fitness industry he’s still learning just what people are capable of. That Shannon’s in the final four is a real credit to his determination.
Michelle’s most memorable moment was the marathon. She tells them all well done for doing so well in the marathon.
Hayley gets choked up when describing the wonderful bonds and friendships she formed.
During her montage she says she was a huge fan of the previous four seasons and never thought she’d be hosting the show.
Her saddest moment in the show is always that Day One weigh-in and the best is when they start losing the weight. And her highlight of the series was getting the opportunity to teach Shannon to swim. She says she got just as much out of it as he did. She’s proud to be part of the show because it helps promote healthy living and changes people’s lives.
Hayley says it’s been inspirational, life changing and the best thing she’s ever been involved in.
And now begins the Eliminated Contestant weigh-in!
Everyone’s out of their fancy duds and into their black shirts and shorts.
Geoff’s not eligible to win on account of leaving due to medical reasons, but he’s done so well on the outside they want to show the country how well he’s done anyway.
Geoff hobbles up to the scales.
Start: 161.6kg
Now: 117.8kg
Loss: 43.8kg – 27.1%
For a guy who had to leave through illness, that’s extremely impressive!
Chris also can’t win on account of already taking the money and running, but we’ll weigh him in, too!
Start: 128.9kg
Now: 104.2kg
Loss: 24.7kg – 19.16%
Even old man Geoff thrashed him. Sad!
The remaining contestants are in the running to win the Eliminated Contestants crown.
Romi’s up first.
Start: 99.3kg
Now: 85.8kg
Loss: 13.5kg – 13.6%
Yeah, that’s fairly underwhelming, but she was only there for a week. And she’s now on top of the leaderboard!
Allan’s the first to challenge Romi.
Start: 155.8kg
Now: 131.5kg
Loss: 24.3kg – 15.6%
He actually looks lighter than that, surprised it’s such a low loss.
Jenni’s turn. She needs at least 20.4kg to topple Allan.
Start: 130.6kg
Now: 84.3kg
Loss: 46.3kg – 35.45%
WOW! Given how long she’s been out that’s a very impressive result!
Time for Lisa to head home. To Perth! She was the only Mum of the season, Hayley says.
There’s a large crowd waiting for her. Her girls are peeking around the corner and eventually they can wait no longer and run screaming to their Mum. Awwwww!
Her Dad’s so proud of her, as is her husband. Her daughters say she looks so much younger and happier… and Jarna reckons she can do it, she can be the first female Biggest Loser.
So after an ad break Jenni’s still in the lead.
Elise’s turn. 37.1kg is her target.
Start: 104.6kg
Now: 66.7kg
Loss: 37.9kg – 36.23%
Elise is now in first place…probably just in time for Teneale to knock her off.
Teneale will need 33.5kg to do it.
Start: 97.4kg
Now: 58.8kg
Loss: 38.6kg – 39.63%
Wow! Considering her relatively low starting number that is a very impressive loss!
Jarna needs 47.1kg which she seems quite doubtful about…
Start: 118.8kg
Now: 75.5kg
Loss: 43.3kg – 36.45%
She’s really stoked by the loss. It’s not enough to knock Teneale off but you can tell she just doesn’t care!
Caitlin needs 65.1kg.
Start: 179.4kg
Now: 124.8kg
Loss: 54.6kg – 30.43%
Doesn’t knock Teneale off either but that’s a very good result for the Biggest Girl EVAR!
Rick needs 62.6kg. Less than Caitlin but not by very bloody much!
Start: 172.6kg
Now: 97.2kg
Loss: 75.4kg – 43.68%
Crikey! Teneale’s grinning and applauding. She doesn’t seem to mind too much. Rick’s pretty happy to be in first place now.
But before we see more of the eliminees weigh in it’s time for Shannon to head home.
Shannon’s got a nice group of folks waiting for him including his Mum, who can scarcely believe the change in him.
Chris is there too to give him a big hug. Awww!
And Shannon’s little sister is there, awww!
And his fiancee! Awww!
Daina’s going to need at least 46kg. Daina seems very doubtful on that count!
Start: 105.2kg
Now: 77.8kg
Loss: 27.4kg – 26.05%
She’s done well, but not well enough!
Phoebe needs 50.7kg. Yikes! She dances up to the scales though!
Start: 116kg
Now: 76.9kg
Loss: 39.1kg – 33.71%
“I was close!” Yeah, not bad Phoebe!
David needs 72.4kg. Oooh boy. He might actually have that in him.
Start: 165.6kg
Now: 99.2kg
Loss: 66.4kg – 40.1%
Now enough to bump Rick off but he’s obviously ecstatic to be under 100kg!
Phil needs at least 64.2kg to win.
Start: 146.9kg
Now: 93kg
Loss: 53.9kg – 36.69%
Meaning Rick is the winner of the Eliminated Contestants crown, yay!
Rick wanted to be a good role model for his son or daughter, due in 7 weeks and now he will be!
And now we’re going to have a look back at previous winners and first up is Adro… who is actually in the studio!
Also from first series, Tracey. Really? Oh hey, she’s actually skinny now.
Season 2’s Courtney, looking faaabulous of course!
Season 3’s Sean, also looking great!
Also Alison from Season 3, who of course looks stunning as we already knew because we’re always seeing her on ads!
Season 3’s winner Sam, who still looks just as he did when he won.
Season 4’s hotness that is Meaghan, who is still hot and also very hot and in a black dress being hot!
Sam from last year is also back. She’s lost more weight since her Finale and is looking great.
Sharif’s there too, looking pretty spiff.
Bob’s back, too. We saw him the other day of course so we already know he’s looking like a distinguished older gentleman instead of a big grey boulder as he used to.
Hayley says that next year’s series will be the very first Family themed series. Families of four in any combination are invited to apply via the website. Foursomes!
Time for the Final Four to strut their stuff!
Wayne’s recap first. Looking back at him at the start is just nuts. Even comparing to where he was at when he was originally eliminated, let alone the time of the marathon.
Wayne comes out from behind the sliding doors and… well, he looks much as he looked when he left Camp Biggest Loser. There wasn’t a whole lot of fat left on him when he left and he’s probably replaced much of that with muscle now.
Wayne says life outside has been sensational.
One more weigh-in to come though and Hayley says we can’t wait!
Lisa’s turn next.
Looking back at her at the start, her face is still recognisable but the body has changed so much.
Part of the flashback montage has her on a beach with Shannan declaring she’ll be there at the end. Very impressive!
She comes out from behind the sliding doors and looks absolutely stunning in a sparkly dress with a wrap thingy around her arms, presumably to hide the chicken wings…
Lisa’s main goal in coming on the show was to be a role model for her girls… and to fit into her wedding dress!
When she was told she couldn’t do the running marathon she decided that she’d do a marathon on the spinbike instead, which she thought was 150km but Shannan informed her was actually 180km which Lisa figured would take her about 6 hours.
And in 6 hours she actually did 205km!
Shannon’s recap now. Seeing him again at 214kg is heartbreaking.
Shannan says when he met Shannon he was a dead man walking. But when he got back up on that first day he earned Shannan’s respect every single day.
Even Wayne, his competitor, says that Shannon has been an inspiration to him.
Shannon comes out from behind the double doors and he’s looking AMAZING. Oh, sure, he’s probably got a girdle on under the shirt but his arms and legs are so much thinner and it’s probably more of a loose skin problem for him now. He looks great!
Hayley says he’s the cutest thing she’s ever seen and his fiancee looks so happy.
Shannon says his mental changes have way outweighed the physical changes. He thought he was mentally strong before coming on the show but he learned within 600 metres that he was extremely weak.
Hayley says we heard all the time how important his fiancee is to him, but also his trainer Shannan was very important to his journey and Shannon thanks him yet again.
Last of all is Joe. Joe back at the start was so large. So large!
Michelle says he came on strong and hard in training and made huge strides.
Jarna says putting someone like Joe into training with someone like The Commando? Makes him unstoppable.
Joe comes out from behind the sliding doors and… he actually looks like a 20 year old again! Well, 21 year old. He had that birthday after all.
“Joe, you’re hot!” – Hayley
Hayley says he was the youngest male on the show but Joe corrects him, saying that Rick’s 5 minutes younger!
Joe never thought he’d get to the Final Four but he’s stoked to be there, of course!
It’s currently 10.36pm. The show was meant to end at 10.30pm. Time management fail!
Time for the Final Weigh-In. No more eliminations!
If Wayne or Joe win, they receive $185,000. If Shannon wins, he gets the title and nothing else.
If Lisa wins she’ll be the first female Biggest Loser plus, as wearer of the Double Bracelet, she’ll take home $370,000!
And Lisa gets to weigh-in first… so she probably hasn’t won. That’s a shame.
Start: 121.9kg
Now: 65.7kg
Loss: 56.2kg – 46.1%
You can tell everyone is very happy for her to have lost so much but especially her family!
Wayne’s next. He needs to have lost 74.5kg. He doesn’t think he’s got that.
Start: 161.5kg
Now: 98.7kg
Loss: 62.8kg – 38.89%
Not enough to topple Lisa, but he’s obviously happy to have finally nudged under the 100kg mark.
Shannon’s next up to bat. He needs to have lost 98.9kg. Shannon shouts “YES!” For reasons he’s mystified by, apparently. As he goes past Lisa he says he’s got her!
Start: 214.3kg
Now: 124.7kg
Loss: 89.6kg – 41.81%
WOW. Okay, it’s not enough to topple Lisa but that is extraordinary for one person to have lost that much weight in a matter of months. And he seems thrilled.
And then there was one.
Joe’s “proper nervous!” He’ll need to have lost 83kg. Lisa calls out to him, “You can do it!”
Start: 179.9kg
Now: 97.2kg
Loss: 82.7kg – 45.97%
OH MY GOD A WOMAN HAS FINALLY WON! By the narrowest of narrow margins, but she’s done it!
And as holder of the double bracelet she’s just won $370,000. “I’M ALLOWED TO CRY NOW!”
Family and friends rush the stage as Hayley delivers her byebye speech and… that’s it for another year!
Congratulations to Lisa, the first ever female Biggest Loser in Australia. You’ve done extremely well and should be very proud of yourself!
