TBL 5×61: Elimination. Yes, another one. Don’t act surprised. It’s Monday.

Previously on The Biggest Loser Wayne and Daina won their way back into the game by virtue of being the first man and woman across the finish line at the marathon.

And tonight, after the weigh-in last night, David and Daina face elimination. David would seem to be the bigger threat but he has the Nothing bracelet and Daina’s obviously got the determination to go far in the game – she just ran a marathon, after all!

Who’ll go? Probably David but you’ll have to stay tuned to find out…

Everyone files into the loungeroom after weigh-in. The main point of discussion is of course David’s near 2kg weightgain. That’s quite a gain for one week, especially with someone who has supposedly been doing the work and getting his nutrition right.

Daina’s really happy by her loss though also disappointed that it wasn’t enough to keep her safe.

Shannon says to them all that it’ll be a hard decision. Wayne instantly pipes up and asks if he really thinks it’ll be hard? Sounds like Wayne’s got some pre-conceptions about how the voting will go.

Daina and Lisa have a chat first. Daina’s quite comfortable, she doesn’t think she’s as much of a threat as David. Daina’s unlikely to win and so she’s using that as her strategy.
Lisa says to Daina that her and Wayne have only just come back in, so they’ve got a little more weight available to lose. And she says to us that David’s been there the whole time and given up all the same things Lisa herself has given up…

David and Shannon have a chat after another ad break. David’s hoping that him having been there since Day One will count for something with Shannon.
Shannon’s not buying into it too much though. Because last time he put on weight the week after he lost a massive amount of weight.
Shannon’s worried that next week if Daina’s still there and he goes under with Daina then Shannon will get the flick, which obviously he doesn’t want to happen!
But his decisions have always been based on what’s best for him strategically and David says he knows and he won’t hold it against him either way.

They finally all file down to the Elimination room. We didn’t even get to see either person put their case to Wayne? Interesting.

Daina’s done well since leaving the house, but not quite well enough to ensure she’ll be there next week.
She’ll be disappointed to go home after coming second in a marathon and first amongst the girls.
She’s not sure whether the loyalties and friendships will save her. And if she does stay then she’ll have taken David’s spot, despite him having been there since the beginning.

Then Hayley talks to David. David’s been a big threat throughout the game. And if he gets sent home today he has to decide where his Nothing bracelet will go, too.
David really only ever expected to get halfway through and so this has been a bonus. It’s only this week he’s really started to think he might be in with a shot.
He’s hoping that having shared some experiences with Lisa and Shannon in the last few weeks might count for something but he also knows they’ve got to vote strategically, too.

Lisa gets to vote first. She considered her position in the game and how David and Daina affect that. In order for her to survive next week’s weigh-in she has to consider who is the biggest threat on the scales… so she’s had to vote for David!

Shannon’s turn next. If he votes for David, he’ll be eliminated. Vote for Daina and it will be one vote each and it will come down to Wayne’s vote.

Shannon says Daina and David should be very proud of what they’ve achieved. David’s broken a number of records despite his injuries and Daina’s breakthroughs and making it back into the game via the marathon.
But in the end it has to come down to strategy… so with that said he’s voted for THE WHITE GLOW. OF COURSE.
Sigh.

And after the ad break…

Shannon has, of course, voted for David. Shannon wishes him all the best. David has that obnoxious smile on his face again. Oh, right, we won’t have to see it much longer. HA!

David says he has mixed emotions. He’ll leave with a smile on his face. He’s achieved what he wanted to achieve. Despite his injuries he’s got his name up on the honour board four times and he’s impressed himself. Despite being away from his wife and his kids he’s happy to be him right now!

Daina’s relieved to still be there.

Wayne says David’s done very well. He’s exercised as hard as anyone and his diet’s been spot on. And it’s no secret Wayne’s got David’s name on his plate. But Wayne’s really liked coming back on the show because it gave him a chance to get to know David a lot better than he did the first time around.

David says he’d sum The Biggest Loser up in one word: Fantastic!
It’s saved his life, it’s changed his life, it’s given him a new life. He’ll sing the praises of the show till the day he dies – which won’t be for a long time, now!

But before David goes home he has to pass the Nothing bracelet on to someone else.
GIVE IT TO WAYNE! GIVE IT TO WAYNE! GIVE IT TO WAYNE! GIVE IT TO WAYNE! GIVE IT TO WAYNE! GIVE IT TO WAYNE! GIVE IT TO WAYNE! GIVE IT TO WAYNE! GIVE IT TO WAYNE! GIVE IT TO WAYNE!

David doesn’t want it to give someone with a real chance of winning because he doesn’t want to deprive someone of the chance to get the prizemoney at the end.
So he’s decided to give it to Daina, even though he’d prefer not to. Strange decision. Might keep her safe if she goes under with… Well. Nobody, really. Everyone else is more of a threat than she is.

David goes around dispensing hugs and words and kisses and so on.

After David heads out the door Hayley says change is the only constant on the show. We’re closing in on the final stages of the game. Soon it’ll be decided who’ll make up the Final Four. Which also means Phil and Joe will be back soon to take the final spot in the Four.

So go get some rest, she’ll see you all soon.

Phil and Joe rock up to a hill where Commando Steve is standing near a pile of junk he probably wants moved?
120kg trailer. Take it to the top of the hill. There’s a big rope in the trailer, the 80kg log, 44 gallon drums to represent the marathon. On the way up they’ll get rid of each of the items.

Steve says they’ve learnt that things never get easier but they’ve learnt the resilience to take things head on.
Having said that, lets make things a little harder!
Steve hops off the trailer, pulls a knife and stabs one of the trailer’s tires. Evil!

Phil and Joe are struggling from the get-go but they’re not giving up, they’re giving it everything they’ve got.
Eventually Steve’s helping them along a bit then they get to the first stop where they can dump the rope out of the trailer.

More pushing, more chatter about how much stronger they are, another pit stop and out goes the log… and then in goes Commando Steve. So evil!

Flat tire and all, they’re doing it. Pull it up the hill some more then dump out the barrels then get back on the trailer and get to the top of the hill.
It’s empty now so it should be easier, right?!
The baggage is gone and Joe says he knows now that he’ll never quit. Phil says at the summit it’s like walking through a gate to a new life for both of them.

Steve tells them to go clean themselves up, that was a fantastic effort, he’ll see them at the next training session.

Shannan and Michelle rock up to Camp and are surprised that David is the one to have gone home.
Lisa knows Michelle will be devastated.

Wayne says they’re in for a shock and Michelle is like, “Really?” Only a mild touch of sarcasm there, nice work Michelle!
They recap the numbers for the trainers. They’re impressed by everyone’s numbers. Shannan’s particularly proud of Shannon’s attitude, after his disastrous Day One.

Michelle thinks Lisa has the potential to be our first female Biggest Loser.

Then Wayne says that David put on 1.9kg and Michelle is stunned. But she’s sure David will turn it around and look fantastic by Finale.

And now Daina’s got the Nothing bracelet?

Last week! Shannan is more excited than the contestants. Michelle says this last week is really about finishing the job.

But to start the week it’s time for another off-site training session.

The contestants all turn up to… a vacant car lot somewhere in Sydney. Erm, kay, that was worth the effort.

There’s boxes and boxes and boxes of apples. And cars. Honda Jazz cars.
They need to move 3 cubic metres of apples into these Honda Jazz’s.
Lisa bursts into laughter.

Michelle says it’s a training session and the rest of the week will have the same competitive theme.
Michelle says they’ll need a strategy going into it because they’re going to find it difficult to squeeze them in.

Lisa can’t carry any heavy weights so her car has been moved much closer to the apples and Shannon has to remember he’s not allowed to run.

No mention of a prize being on offer. So it’s just bragging rights?
Shannon’s determined to beat Wayne. Wayne’s so determined that nobody will stop him? Well, Shannon’s going to!

Everyone else is sticking wih the buckets to start with so Daina decides to start with the wheelbarrow instead to try and do things a bit differently.
She tries to tip the wheelbarrow up and into the boot of the car but she realises it probably won’t work so well so she shifts to moving them by hand.

Shannan says the exercise is quite unusual but that’s kind of the idea. They need to learn that there’s things in day to day life that they can do to maintain their weight in the long term.

Lisa’s having all kinds of trouble. She only had a few apples left in her box so she thought she could lift the box up and into the car… but no. The box isn’t strong enough for that and they fall out and all over the place. But she’s having fun with it!

Shannan and Michelle are encouraging Daina to use the wheelbarrow instead and it seems like the competition will mostly be between Shannon and Wayne.
Shannon’s overtaken Wayne, finally, but Lisa’s still working away not far behind them.
Daina has finally swapped to buckets as well. Guess she realised the wheelbarrow was a little too slow?

Wayne’s got the car most of the way filled up in front… then realises he hasn’t done the windows up so he’s going to struggle filling the car up entirely. So he has to climb in the back and reach over the back seat to try and wind the windows up. They seem to be power windows, fortunately!

Meanwhile Lisa’s overtaken everyone. She does have a bit of an advantage, but it’s still quite impressive!

Shannon’s got two boxes to go. He loves that people don’t see him as a threat too often, that might help him get to the Final Four, so he’s quite happy!

Suddenly it’s a battle between Lisa and Shannon, Shannan says. A big change from how it started out!

Lisa’s looking to show everyone she’s got what it takes. And she’s got about three buckets of apples to go, with plenty of room up the front of the car… But she’s got two remaining underneath the car. How’s she going to get there with her moonboot on?!
She manages it and throws her last two apples in. Shannan says well done, put your bucket on your head! Lisa puts her bucket on her head with a laugh.
Congratulations Lisa, you’ve won!

Shannon says, “Lisa’s top of the leaderboard, she’s wearing a double bracelet, she’s got a massive boot and she can move apples faster than everyone else. She’s got everything going for her!”

Bring on the rest of the week, Michelle says. It’s going to get hot!

David finally arrives home to a huge gathering. His kids seem real excited to see him home. Awww!

David looks great in his catchup and says he has so much more energy to play with his kids. Awww!
His audition tape shows how far he’s come. Old David was a blob. A shapeless, empty, sad blob. Now he’s grinning a lot and skinny and generally looking a lot healthier!

Tomorrow night… SUPER CHALLENGE TIME!
Climb down a ladder and grab a flag.

Oh but the ladder is suspended under one of those skycar things in the Blue Mountains.

And training tests them emotionally and physically… before Phil and Joe make their spectacular return.
And oh boy, it’s spectacular!
