TBL 5×58: The Marathon continues being Marathon-y!
Previously on The Biggest Loser the Outback Marathon was won by Phil, though Joe also completed it.
The marathon with the eliminated contestants also got underway. There’s a heck of a lot more of them, though, so we’re having to wait…
… until tonight! When they’ll continue running and eventually they’ll run past the finish line and one man and one woman will be returning to the game!
Rick’s running, Daina and Teneale’s running, Phoebe’s running, Romi’s plodding, Michelle’s standing beside the jogging path laughing at something or other?
Everyone’s looking forward to the rest of the race. They want to do well and get through the entire 42km, of course.
Wayne’s in first place at the 30km mark with a decent lead on Rick, he says. But Daina’s not far behind Wayne, still.
Teneale overtakes Jarna who is no longer running with Phoebe?
Romi’s in 6th place. Her legs and shins are in agony but she’s reached the 21km mark which is immensely impressive for a Week One eliminee!
There’s a bunch of people there cheering for her, not relations that I could see, just Geoff and various other people.
And at the 23km mark she’s had enough. She decides to pull out. She’s sad to not finish the entire race but she’s ecstatic to have made it to 23km, as well she should be!
Michelle catches up with Caitlin around the 18km mark. Caitlin’s head is hurting and she feels sick and has sore legs. She’s not sure what’s keeping her going. Michelle says it’s like she’s learned nothing, she’s back to the old Caitlin.
Caitlin says she doesn’t want to write herself off for the rest of the week just to make 42km. Michelle asks her is she’s for real? She’s already thinking that she may have to quit?
Michelle tells her she knew there’d be pain involved, she knew it’d be hard work. Michelle tells us that she’s talking herself out of it because that’s the easier way out.
Caitlin says she has pain in her legs, worse than what she had in the 21km race.
Michelle wants to remind her that she’ll regret it if she doesn’t do her best.
Caitlin’s in the mindset of just getting to the 21km mark and then she’d be done.
But of course at the 21km mark is her other sister and her Dad. Her other sister looks a lot like Daina. A redhaired version of Daina. Bit strange.
Caitlin breaks into a run and arrives at the 21km mark and gives her Dad and her sister a huge hug each. Her Dad tells her that she can do this, just keep putting one foot in front of the other, keep plodding along.
Caitlin says that having her Dad and Cassie there convinced her to turn herself around and keep going.
Phoebe’s in the right mindset, of course. Knowing she needs to finish the marathon because it’ll be the best thing ever and so on.
Wayne’s first to the stadium. He’s stoked that he’s almost done and proud to be the first to be almost finished.
Wayne says when he came to Biggest Loser he was facing the same things his Dad did – an early grave via a heart attack. He was even worse than his Dad, probably.
But now he’s achieving something he thought would be unachievable 3 months ago.
And second into the stadium is… Daina! Very impressive, ahead of the other boys. She’s proud of having put the hard work in and she’s thrilled to see it pay off. And happy to see her sister and her Dad waiting there in the stadium.
She finishes in a time of 5 hours 28 minutes or so.
So that means Wayne and Daina will be coming back into the competition.
And David loves the reinforcements for The Firm!
Teneale then enters the stadium. In third place overall, second female! Amazing effort!
She comes in at just under 6 hours, too. She’s amazed at having run the whole thing in such a time.
Then Jarna enters the stadium, 3rd place female. Even ahead of Rick? Wow. Where’s the other boys? Man up, lads!
Shortly thereafter Rick enters the stadium. Second place male.
Jarna can hear Rick catching up behind her and she’s hoping she can hold out long enough to beat her.
Rick finally catches up to Jarna. Back in the 10km Rick had beat her at the end.
But Rick doesn’t want to beat her this time. They’ve both just run 42km so when Jarna puts her hand out Rick takes it and they cross the line together. Awwwww!
6 hours and 5 minutes. Very good stuff!
Phoebe then arrives. 4th place female. She’s still trotting along.
Phoebe doesn’t think she’s ever focused on one thing like that before.
6 hours and 43 minutes and she’s really pleased with that time. She’s done her best.
Back beside some road Michelle is waiting for Caitlin. Caitlin’s very, very, very sore now. She’s cramping up a bit, but she’s kept on going. She tells Michelle she was right and Michelle is grinning from ear to ear.
Elise is thrilled to have also finished the 42km. 5th place female.
She says it’s a fantastic feeling to have finally completed it.
7 hours 5 minutes!
Jenni and Allan run into the stadium together. 6th place female and 3rd place male.
They’re both still plugging away, neither has given up. And they come in at 7 hours 7 minutes.
Caitlin’s bringing up the rear… but she finally gets to the stadium, 7th place female. And the cheers for her as she enters are LOUD. Everyone is obviously thrilled to see her manage to finish the 42km.
She’d managed to change her thinking partway through the race and that’s really helped her realise she can do that in the future.
She runs down the final stretch and her grin gets bigger and bigger. She finally crosses in a time of 8 hours 4 minutes. Not fast by any means but she did get there!
Hayley tells them all they should all be very proud of themselves for having run so far today.
Wayne and Daina have now won their way back into the game and now have a shot at being part of the Final Four.
Come up and collect your Black Biggest Loser T-Shirts.
They’re both very happy to get back.
Only two tickets available today so the rest will be returning home. But Hayley congratulates them all and says she looks forward to seeing them all at Finale!
Lots of hugs and kisses all round as the people going home leave the group.
Tomorrow night it’s back to Masterclass. Excellent!
And they’re having a seafood cookoff as the Masterclass challenge at the end. Ew.
