TBL 5×43: Weight gain at the weigh-in? DUN DUN DUNNNNN!!!

Previously on The Biggest Loser there was makeovers and exercising and Temptations and exercising and…

Rick has Immunity for the upcoming elimination as a result of Temptation.

Tonight is Last Chance Training for all remaining contestants, plus weigh-in. And someone still at Camp has gained 500 grams, apparently!

Shannan and Michelle rock up for Last Chance. Michelle gets the feeling early on that they have something to tell them…
Rick’s nervous about having to tell Michelle about Temptation as he indulged quite a lot.
He recaps for her all the things he ate. It keeps going and going and after three things Michelle’s head has already gone down.

She’s dumbfounded. She tells us his list read like a teenager’s parents had gone away for the weekend.

Rick’s a bit ashamed by how many calories he had but he’s proud he’ll be there another week.

Michelle ultimately says she can understand it with their alliance being down to two people plus Rick also has the gold bracelet on his wrist.

Shannan’s 3 have the big gym all to themselves!
Shannan wants them to do 10km on the spin bikes, 5km on the cross trainer, 600 punches and 300 crunches each.
In 60 minutes!

Shannon thinks this’ll be a big test for all of them. I think that was Shannan’s idea!

Shannan’s letting them do them in any order they like so they all start out on the spin bikes to knock out the 10km first.

Phoebe’s powering through. She’s doing 5km on the cross trainer next which usually takes her half an hour, apparently.

Shannan says that Phoebe and Lisa look like they’ll make it fairly easily but Shannon’s struggling.

Shannon’s doing everything he can to make sure David’s under the Yellow Line with whoever, so that they can vote him out since there’s no opportunity to vote Rick out this week.

Phoebe finishes the circuit in 51 minutes 43 seconds!
Lisa’s still struggling along and eventually finishes in 54minutes and 12 seconds.

Shannon needs another 500m on the cross trainer and 100 crunches in the final 5 minutes. He doesn’t want to be the only one who doesn’t finish.
100 crunches come down to the last 100 seconds. Lisa and Phoebe do some more crunches too.
Shannon finally finishes in 58 minutes and 50 seconds. That sounds a little suspicious, Shannan!

Shannon’s happy though. Personal bests all round, Shannan says. And he says they’ve shown him they have what it takes to be top four and one of them be top one!

Now it’s time for a catch up with Daina…
She’s looking great. Quite brown. Guess she’s going out in the sun a bit more… or at least to the tanning salon.

Back in the Northern Territory… Commando Steve is saying his motto is “No excuses!”
Last Chance Training today is to clear some of this road.
Uhh, what? That’s a road? It looks like a very dusty dried mud creek bed type thing. Not at all a road!

First task is to grab the equipment about 100 metres away and drag it up to the other end of their section of road.
First part of the task is to carry two jerrycans full of water, 15kg each. And they have to crawl under the random roots that’ve grown across the “road”.

Phil says 110% for the Commando is more like 1000% in anyone else’s scale. Sounds about right!

Then the lads have a tire each, with added weight, plus ropes to help them drag it along. They also carry back the sledgehammers.
Phil’s using his weight gain last week to keep him motivated today. He’s hoping that he’s at least lost some weight this week to get himself back on track.

First part of the actual work is smashing up a “wall” of rock hard dried mud to make the “road” driveable again.

Commando Steve says that Phil lacks intensity. He might train for long hours but when training with Steve he needs the strength, stamina and perserverance to pull through. And a lot of that is in your head.

Afterwards Phil says it’s really hard work and he’s got blisters all over his hands. Awww!

After they finish doing 10 sledgehammer whacks in time they’re finally done and are told to go get cleaned up and Steve will see them at weigh-in!

And now a catch up with Chris.
Chris is still quite fat around the face but the rest of him is quite skinny by comparison. So he just has a fat head, naturally. Who’d’ve thunk it.
His type 2 diabetes is gone, he tells us too, which is very good news!

Michelle’s got her boys doing a “triathlon” for Last Chance, Biggest Loser style!
2km rowing, 8km cycling, 4km run. Three different disciplines with their own barriers to push through.
And to keep them going hard they’re competing with each other.

David’s only done about a kilometre before on the rowing machine so after that he’s starting to struggling a little bit. Rick’s also finding it a super effective exercise. He’s hurting quite a bit by the end of it but it’s not time to finish yet, cycling time!

Michelle says David’s got a great attitude this week. David killed off the guy who came into Camp and he believes in himself now, he’s backing himself to be above the Yellow Line this week.

David can only walk 2km at a time at the moment so he’s walking on the treadmill while Rick has to jog his way through the 4km.
David finishes quite a bit earlier than Rick so David hops on the spin bike to continue exercising while Rick finishes out his run.
Michelle bumps the speed up a bit for Rick at the end and oh boy both lads look well and truly knackered afterwards!

After Last Chance Training Lisa, Phoebe and Shannon sit down for a chat about where they’re at.
Phoebe says it’s imperative that David be below the Yellow Line this week.
They’ve turned the tables on the old alliance and have the majority of the players remaining in the game.
The worst case scenario is that they have two of them below the Yellow Line and then they don’t need to worry about the voting because it’ll be out of their hands.

Whatever will be will be, though. Shannon is confident someone can push David below the Yellow Line, but he’s not sure who’ll it’ll be.

Back in the Northern Territory it’s weigh-in time. Joe and Phil are both pretty nervous about it.

Commando Steve wants no excuses this week. He’s trained and pushed them hard so he expects good results!

Joe’s weighing in first.

Joe: 115.3kg
Loss: 7.2kg – 5.9%

Good result! Joe says he reckons that’ll be enough for Biggest Loser of the week!
Joe says it’s been tough out there but it’s paid off.

Phil’s turn now of course. He can’t gain two weeks in a row you’d think…

Phil: 91.2kg
Loss: 7.8kg – 7.9%

He spouts some crap about being proud to be a Bulldog, “Loyalty, Strength, Courage!”
Sigh.
Most of that was due to his gain from last week I expect…
Phil puts it down to watching his diet in particular.
Joe congratulates him on a job well done, too.

Meanwhile, back at Camp Biggest Loser… it’s also weigh-in time!

And everyone’s nervous!

Only five remaining this week, Hayley informs us. In her blue painter’s smock outfit.

Rick goes first as he has immunity.

Rick: 111.6kg
GAIN: .5kg – 0.45%

Everyone is absolutely stunned. Rick’s gutted.

Hayley then says Rick, according to The Biggest Loser rules, as you have gained weight you have been stripped of Immunity. So you are now eligible for Elimination if you’re below the Yellow Line.
Everyone is even more shocked as they realise this.
Hayley then says that the only way he can be below the Yellow Line is if two other contestants have also gained weight.

Rick’s changed his training a little, doing a bit more by way of weight training, which he didn’t think would cause him to gain weight at this point.
Rick says Joe would be a little disappointed to see him gain weight and he was really hoping he’d still be there when Joe comes back to the competition.

David’s turn next. He’s very worried now that Rick’s put on weight. He’s hoping he hasn’t done the same.

David: 103.5kg
Loss: 4.3kg – 3.99%

David is now in first place. Big surprise!
He’s relieved though still flat after Rick’s result.
Will he now admit he’s a threat in the competition? Yeah, okay, he’s a threat as much as anyone else and he’s in with a shot at winning the title.

Lisa’s turn now.

Lisa: 78.6kg
Loss: 2.9kg – 3.56%

She’s now in second place and is into the 70kg range. Which has made her very happy!
And she’s finally starting to love herself, she says in response to Hayley’s question. She now wants to live her life and do things with her kids she’s always wanted to do.

Phoebe will need a loss of at least 3kg to beat Lisa and guarantee she stays safe for another week. Could be a hard ask given how small she’s getting now!

Phoebe: 80.3kg
Loss: 2.2kg – 2.67%

Third place, pushes Rick below the Line with no hopes of getting back above it. Ouch, dude!
Phoebe was hoping for 2.6kg to get under the 80kg mark but now she can smash through it next week.
Seeing her Mum was great, she’d forgotten how cool her Mum is. Awww!
She also feels really good about finally saying sorry to her Mum for the things she’s said in the past.

Phoebe says Lisa’s probably her biggest threat right now and she’ll totally take Lisa on!
Lisa mimes karate stance at her on the way back and they have a giggle and a hug.

Shannon needs 4.1kg to beat Phoebe and stay above the Yellow Line. He’d been hoping he’d lose 5kg this week but he’s had a few big weeks and it’ll be hard…

Shannon: 145.1kg
Loss: 5.5kg – 3.65%

Meaning Shannon’s in second place leaving Phoebe and Rick facing Elimination tomorrow night. Meaning Rick will be going home tomorrow night!

Shannon says he can hardly complain about losing 5.5kg. He’s in the 140s for the first time since the 90s!

And this means David is the week’s Biggest Loser. Third time he’s claimed the honour, too. And he’s quite proud of doing it this week.

Shannon thinks he’ll be the deciding vote at elimination because he’s close to both Rick and Phoebe… but he sees Phoebe as the bigger threat compared to Rick.

Tomorrow night is elimination night with all the drama that entails.

Plus, pack your bags you’re going to New Zealand!

… can’t they find somewhere else to go for a change? I hear Tasmania still has some trees left, why not go there?!
