TBL 5×31: Head-to-Head Weigh-In
Previously on The Biggest Loser the four head to head couples faced off with the losing Losers losing access to their trainers and equipment.
Tonight, can the have-nots compete with the haves?
Caitlin’s in the intro saying there’s a 50% chance she’ll have to go home. Yeah, right! We all know you’re safe.
Michelle and Shannan arrive at Camp. Shannan says they’ve not seen them in over a day! Not a whole day! They might all be 400kg if they’ve had a whole day to themselves!
Everyone’s bickering over who’ll tell the trainers about the lack of trainering being available for four of them today for Last Chance Training.
They think the trainers will be upset. We’ll see.
First they lay out the details of the challenge. Recapping who won and who lost.
Apparently because there’s 4 of them who can’t train then only one trainer can train the others. So Michelle says it feels like the trainers are up for elimination!
They’ve picked Shannan because he’s aware of more of the injuries of the various people because they were mostly in his group.
Michelle says that everyone was kinda holding their breath waiting to see how she’d react. You can tell she’s disappointed at not getting a chance to flog them!
So Shannan takes his people off for Last Chance, which is intense intervals… again.
Shannon’s hoping for at least 6kg at weigh-in this week which he hopes will be enough to beat Phoebe. Phoebe’s a great mate but he’s there for himself, not anyone else.
Rick is struggling really badly in Last Chance. He’s got no energy and feels exhausted. Shannan says his mind just doesn’t seem to be in it today.
Rick says he’s had enough of this journey. He doesn’t know why, he just has. He wants to go home.
He wants to go home and fix things there, look after his pregnant girl, get back to work and so on.
Shannan asks him what he’d be like if he’d stayed home instead of coming on the show. Rick says he’d probably be 190kg and then dead by 30.
Shannan wants him to get some determination back. And he’s got the light back in his eyes now.
Shannan tells him to focus on the good things. He loves and misses his girl but he doesn’t show that by going home, he shows that by staying in the game and trying to win and get his health back.
Now it’s time for a catch up with Romi and Allan!
They’re both still looking chubby but Romi in particular is looking much lighter. She says she used to be a size 20, now she’s fitting into a size 16. Nicely done!
The no-equipment no-trainer group grab a bunch of shopping bags and water bottles as impromptu weights. They also grab the doorstops for their rooms as they’re quite weighty.
They’ve worked out a routine where one person runs back and forth up and down some stairs as the timekeeper. 5 laps while the others do squats, step ups and back arch thingies.
Joe says Phoebe’s a total warrior in training, he’s impressed by her efforts.
Next training session is running up and down a hill. When you get to the bottom of the hill you do five pushups, then up the hill again.
Well, Caitlin sort of trots up and down. But to her credit she’s not stopping, she’s soldiering on.
At the “end” of the training session they decide to throw in a minute of “plank”. Phoebe’s egging them on to keep going. Phoebe gets to 1min 30secs.
Caitlin’s cheating by sticking her bum way in the air but she manages two minutes in the end.
And then it’s finally time for weigh-in. And everyone is nervous!
Well, except for David, who has Immunity.
Hayley reminds everyone that today’s weigh-in is a series of head to head battles.
But since David has immunity, he’ll go first, all by his lonesome.
David: 113.3kg
Loss: 2.5kg – 2.16%
Well, he’s water loaded then, hasn’t he!
He says he was expecting more like 4-5kg but he’s happy with any weight loss. And his BMI is now only in the “overweight” category instead of “obese”!
Caitlin and Rick will be the first head to head couple and Rick will be the first of them up on the scales.
Rick: 116.6kg
Loss: 5.7kg – 4.66%
Not bad, not bad at all.
He’s not sure it’ll be enough to beat Caitlin, but he’s done his best.
And his goal weight is only 6.6kg away now. And he’s feeling a lot more positive about getting there.
He’d been telling himself that he’d get to 110kg and then go home, but in Last Chance Training he realised he needs to stay there as long as he can.
Caitlin will need a loss of at least 6.4kg.
Not outside the realms of possibility. And Caitlin says she’s had the best week since she got there. So hopefully she’s done enough!
Caitlin: 131.5kg
Loss: 5.4kg – 3.94%
Not enough, Rick is safe.
Caitlin’s safe too, realistically. But she says that she’s not disappointed by losing, she’s found a new strength now.
But she still needs to be there, she’s not ready to go home. She’s hoping to be there a lot longer.
Maybe someone will remember she has the Double bracelet? Caitlin actually mentions it for the first time in practically forever. Sign of things to come?
Phil and Joe face off next with Phil weighing in first.
Phil: 94.1kg
Loss: 3.9kg – 3.98%
He’s quite happy with his loss. He knew that once he got under 100kg the numbers wouldn’t be so huge, especially after last week’s amazing loss.
Phil says he and Joe have said the best dog will win, they’re not going to let the head to head affect their friendship.
Phil thinks he might just have Joe on percentages, but it’ll be close. He doesn’t want to go home but maybe his number is finally up.
Joe’s turn. He’ll need at least 5.3kg to beat Phil. Joe doesn’t think he’s done enough. He’s had a shocker this week and has had to really bash himself to get going.
Joe: 126.5kg
Loss: 6.1kg – 4.60%
So Joe is safe and Phil is now under the Line. As one of the top dogs in the competition he’ll be at serious risk this week.
Joe thanks the girls for their help this week with the training regime they’d worked out.
Then we see a shot of Joe back at the start and I’d forgotten how massive he was!
He’s looking forward to being able to go to restaurants and not worry about getting stuck in the seat. And can go to the beach without a shirt. He probably won’t even own any shirts!
Phoebe and Shannon are up next. Shannon gets to go first. And he says they don’t call Phoebe a superfreak and warrior for no reason!
Shannon: 157.9kg
Loss: 7.1kg – 4.30%
He looks a little disappointed at first and then I think he realises he’s actually done well, not badly like he was expecting. And then he’s very excited!
Shannon says that without Biggest Loser he’d be dead. He was over 200kg and he’d given up. Was making funeral plans and everything.
That’s a pretty epic failure…
Jenni catch up interrupted Shannon’s weigh-in. Grrr!
Still fat but she’s definitely lost quite a bit more weight since leaving so she’s done well on the outside, too! She’s looking forward to being at Finale and showing everyone “The New Me”!
Phoebe will need at least 3.8kg. Certainly doable, even at her size. It’ll be tough but she can get there.
Phoebe: 85kg
Loss: 2.8kg – 3.19%
She’s below the Yellow Line but doesn’t seem too upset. 2.8kg is still a good result. She’s over 30kg in total loss. She’s not a lazy potato anymore, she says!
Last two opponents are Lisa and Jarna. Ooooh this is going to be ugly. Lisa’s crying already and she’s first up…
Lisa: 84.7kg
Loss: 5.1kg – 5.68%
Making her the current Biggest Loser of the week with only Jarna to go!
She’s shocked, as is Jarna.
It’s been a hard week for both of them, but if Jarna comes up and beats her now it doesn’t matter.
She knows some of the relationships in the house haven’t blossomed but her’s and Jarna’s has. Awww!
Jarna is last to weigh-in. To stay safe she needs at least 5.2kg. Oof.
Jarna: 86.3kg
Loss: 4.2kg – 4.64%
Not far off, but not enough to avoid facing elimination. And given who she’s up against it’s likely she’ll be going home!
She says she’s glad it’s not Lisa below the line. There’s worse things than going home. If this is her week to go she’s leaving at 86.3kg, which is only 16.3kg from her goal weight. Which would have seemed impossible before, but now she knows she can absolutely do it!
Phil, Caitlin, Phoebe and Jarna will now face elimination tomorrow night.
But congratulations go to Lisa for being the Biggest Loser of the week!
Tomorrow night, so many reasons to question loyalty. And at elimination it comes down to one vote. Possibly David’s. David might betray Phil? Some mate he’d be if he did…
And later they’re going to do some stuff with V8 Supercar driver Craig Lowndes it looks like? Towing his car through pitlane, manhandling tires and so on. Looks like fun!
