TBL 5×26: Sisterly Eliminationly

Previously on The Biggest Loser Phil made history with the biggest single week loss on record!
And Caitlin and Daina fell below the Yellow Line.

Tonight it’s sister versus sister! Heart versus mind! Strategy versus being a bunch of tools.

Daina and Caitlin are quite sad about the results. Daina says to everyone that it was unexpected.
Joe says to us that it wasn’t really all that unexpected, they’ve not been getting their diet right and not putting in the work and that’s what happens!

And everyone is amazed by and proud of Phil’s efforts in the past week.
He’s a bit sad though because he considers Daina and Caitlin to be friends.

Daina and Caitlin chat to Phil and David, Joe and Rick. Daina says she’s hoping they’ll all stick to the old The Firm plan of voting out the smallest Loser for the week.
Phil and Rick agree readily to vote for Daina. Joe and David don’t really say much at all…

Phoebe and Shannon are chatting about the votes. Shannon wants a heads up this time instead of always going in blind.
Lisa wanders in to see Phoebe and Shannon chatting and asks if this is the Leftovers discussion. Phoebe says she’s Switzerland! She’s part of neither camp!

Shannon’s chatted to Joe. He was explaining to Joe that if Joe went under the Line, Caitlin wouldn’t hesitate to vote Joe out.
Phoebe says she doesn’t think Jarna and Lisa would hold her vote against her, either way. But she could make herself a target by voting for Caitlin, because she’d be going against The Firm. But she’s okay with that as it’s the right thing for her to do.

Shannon puts the question to Lisa and Phoebe: Will you vote for Caitlin? Lisa and Phoebe both say yes. Then Lisa and Phoebe ask if he will be voting for Caitlin and Shannon says he doesn’t know.
But then laughs and says yes, of course he’s voting for Caitlin. Funny man!

Everyone heads to the Elimination Room. Some look somber, some look like they’re pretending to be somber…

Hayley has a nice silvery silk top thing on tonight. Very pretty!

Hayley explains the heart/head thing. Caitlin needs to stay while Daina would be fine at home. But Caitlin’s a much bigger threat and Daina’s not really a threat at all.

Daina’s hoping to go home tonight because she wants Caitlin to stay. She wants Caitlin to get her life back. She was worried she wouldn’t have any love or respect for herself and Daina’s still worried Caitlin’s still in trouble.

Caitlin’s worried about being alone. She’s never been alone before, the longest she’s been away from her family has been a week. It’ll take a lot of effort for her to stay there and keep working without Daina.
She thinks it’s fifty-fifty as to whether she’ll be going. The longer she stays the bigger the threat she is.

As there’s 8 people voting tonight there’s the potential for a tied vote. If that happens, Daina will be going home as she had the smaller percentage weight lost.

Phil’s first to vote. He’s fond of both girls. They’ve been friends and allies for a long time but he made a promise to one of them and he intends to honour it.
So he’s voted for “Diamond Daina (The Glamour Filly)”. Ooookay.

Joe says the girls have been great friends and allies and he wants to be known for being loyal and playing with respect, not for dogging anyone.
So he’s voted for Daina, too.

Daina’s thanked both boys so far.

Jarna’s turn now. Pretty obvious who she’ll be voting for but let’s go…
Jarna says she’s got a bit lost in the game and not been losing as much weight as she possibly can so she’s voting strategically and therefore for the sister who poses the biggest threat to her personally.
Jarna votes for Caitlin, of course.

Lisa’s next. She says she’s reflected a lot this afternoon on why she’s there and she wants to be there as long as she can so she’s voted strategically, too.
Caitlin now has two votes.

Caitlin whispers, “Yet she’s higher than me on the leaderboard.” Yes but she only has two options you stupid bitch.
Daina tells her to relax.
Hayley asks the girls if they want to share anything…

Caitlin says it’s no surprise at all, but Lisa’s higher on the leaderboard than her so she can’t really work that out.
Oh god, please be an upset elimination and send the moron home…

Rick says there’s been alliances from day one and the girl’s stuck by the agreement sending the twins home. He made a promise too, so he’s sticking by it as well.
Daina now has 3 votes.
One more vote for Daina will send her home.

Shannon’s up next. Obviously he’ll be voting Caitlin…
Shannon says that if he’d been under the line with Daina he’d’ve been going home because of the past alliance. So he’s had to vote for the person who’ll push him under and that’s Caitlin!

All tied up at 3 all.

Phoebe’s turn to vote. She says it wasn’t a difficult decision for her because even though they’ve said they’d have her back when it comes down to the crunch she doesn’t believe they’ll have her back because of the alliances they have with others.
She knows this might have some backlash but she’s going to vote out the person who’s the biggest threat to her.
Caitlin!

Caitlin looks fillllllllllthy with that decision. Should’ve worked harder!

Only David’s vote remains unrevealed. Whoever he votes for will be sent home.
Ouch, poor guy.

David says it’s been a tough time for him and it’s a hard decision. It’s a singles game and if you want to think strategically then it’s obvious where he should vote.
Yes, he should vote out Mr White Glow, of course!

After the ad break Hayley needlessly repeats what she said before the break…

David repeats what he said before the break, too.
He goes on to say that he’s mindful of the girls saving his bacon by sending the girls home. So it’s come down to which decision he can live with. Which will sit comfortably on his shoulders.
So he’s voted for Daina!

Daina thanks everyone for voting her out. She says she can’t speak highly enough of the others. Caitlin says even if she goes home next week her life will be so much more enriched by having known those guys.

Daina is very relieved Caitlin gets to stay, though it will be hard to leave her behind.
Caitlin says she’ll be spending all her time with the four who voted for Daina, she’s wiping her hands clean of everyone else.
They were trying to keep Phoebe safe and if she couldn’t see that then she’s done with her.
So she’ll be sticking by and working hard with the four boys.

Yeah, until you get eliminated next week!

Phoebe says she knows that the loyalty The Firm built was a long time before she was in it and when she was in it the only part she played was to stand behind Wayne while he voted for what she thought was the wrong couple.
Shannon says that he made his reasoning quite clear – he didn’t vote for Caitlin because he doesn’t like her, or because she doesn’t deserve to be there. She needs her life back just like he does and he understands that. But at the end of the day they were never part of the alliance and since Day One they’ve been doing everything they can to make sure there’s not a chance to send them home and they’re fine with that because that’s just part of the game.

Caitlin’s angry that Daina’s going home now. Um.
Caitlin then apologises to the other four and says she’s proven to herself that she still needs to be there because that outburst isn’t the person she wants to be. She doesn’t want to be bitter and angry and defensive but that’s how she’s lived her whole life and she’s thought the world’s against her and everyone’s out to get her and she doesn’t want to be that person anymore.
Which I’m sure has nothing to do with trying to avoid elimination next week.

Daina is glad they came and had this journey together. And she’s going home almost 24kg lighter than when she arrived!

She’s leaving tonight but we’ll see her again at the 42km marathon.
Time to say byebye!

Daina seems quite pleased to be hugging Rick. I’m just saying!
Caitlin also gets up to hug people and apologise. And we see the Gold Double Bracelet on her wrist while she hugs Daina goodbye. Nary a mention of it from anyone, however.

And then there were nine!

Michelle and Shannan jog up to Camp again. Michelle has a red hoody on. Must be a bit cool today!

Caitlin’s really looking forward to seeing Michelle to have a chat about Daina being gone and so on.
Michelle is surprised Daina was below the Line because she had 10kg still to lose and she’s a hard worker.
Caitlin says don’t be sorry, it was their own fault.
Shannan is gobsmacked by the two sisters going under the line, especially with Caitlin going under with 6.4kg.

Caitlin’s shattered by her “small” loss though Shannan and Michelle are both very pleased with her loss.
However when Michelle looks around at the losses everyone else is capable of, it becomes obvious Caitlin’s not putting in the hard work required.

Caitlin then says she’s scared to do it on her own but she doesn’t want to be the person she used to be and that person has been slowly coming back.
Shannan’s hoping that Caitlin just needed Daina to be eliminated to wake up to herself.
Michelle says she’s gutted that Daina isn’t there but she sees some positive out of it, too. It’s time for Caitlin to do it on her own. Daina’s not there to do everything for her anymore, or to hold her back. It’s a chance for Caitlin to do it on her own.

Michelle and Shannan are amazed at Jarna coming in third with a good result for once.

Then Phil says he’s glad Michelle and Shannan are sitting down for this and he’s glad he’s sitting down to. 14.7kg! Michelle is STUNNED. She’s seen the change in him this last week, he’s come in to training like an animal.

So they’ve had a massive day yesterday and today they’ve got a special training session lined up – they’ll need their togs and a towel and they’ll find out the rest later!

Joe thinks they’ll be swimming so he’s looking forward to that. Jarna’s just looking forward to being anywhere but at Camp Biggest Loser!

As it turns out they’re going to Bondi on what is… well, a pretty miserable looking day. Overcast, bit blustery. Pretty crappy looking day, all told.
They stroll along the beach and get to a lifesaving hut thing. Shannan calls out to Hoppo and the boys from Bondi Rescue to come help him out.

They’re going to train with the Bondi Lifesavers, who rely on their strength, agility and stamina to rescue up to 230 people a day. Two hundred and thirty people!
Michelle’s training with the girls today. And they’re going for a bit of a dip. They’ve got to run out around one lifesaver who’s holding one end of a rope and then through the surf at a run and around the other end of the rope with another lifesaver.

Caitlin stacks it when she gets hit by a wave at one point but she gets right back up and continues running which Phoebe says is a real testament to the level of their training now.

David and Shannon still have their injuries – Shannon has fractures in both legs, apparently – so they’re just doing some boxing on the beach for training.

The rest of the boys are dragging Shannan and one of the other lifeguards along the sand. Tough work, Phil and Rick say. At one point Phil tries to drag his lifesaver along by his legs. And he’s starting to collect a healthy amount of sand in his britches!
Eventually Rick and Joe come back to help poor Phil.

Shannan then has them pushing one of the rhinos along the sand, the 4WD vehicle the Lifeguards get around the beach quickly on.
Shannan said he told the lifeguards he wanted his people to do it and they reckoned it wouldn’t happen. They’re very impressed to see the contestants actually pushing the rhino along the beach and with Shannan’s help push it up the hill.
One of the lifeguards says pushing the rhino up the hill, especially with an old fella like Phil, was very impressive. Not much harder than that.

Then Joe has the bright idea of pushing it back to the start, too! So even though Phil is pretty buggered, that’s what they do. Madness. Pure madness!

Lisa’s never been to Bondi before, she says, so being on the beach with the Bondi Rescue boys was amazing.
They get the girls to paddle a board out to “rescue” a buoy. Even Caitlin heads out into the surf.

Caitlin says she holds the beach close to her heart because her Mum’s ashes are there and being out on the board it was like a new beginning.
And she now knows she holds her own fate in her own hands.

Ahhh but the day isn’t over just yet. Michelle throws down the challenge to the Bondi Rescue team in a tug of war.
The Bondi Rescue boys get a bit of a shock to be facing such a tough battle and eventually the Losers are winners!

And now we finally see Daina arrive home to… four people? Hmm.
2 months on… she looks a bit more toned but really she didn’t have a lot of weight to lose when she left.
She’s been focusing on toning up her body and building her strength for the marathon.

Then we see her audition interview and wow, the difference is astounding. I’d forgotten just how puffed out she used to be!
Daina had forgotten too, she never thought she was that big.
But now she’s loving life and is super motivated and happy. Old Daina is gone, this is her new life now. She’s fit and healthy and energetic and loving it!

Tomorrow night a chocolate Temptation. With more than Immunity up for grabs – $50,000 in prizes are also up for grabs.
And later in the week there’ll be a head to head challenge of some kind.
And on Sunday… FOUR will be below the Yellow Line, rather than two. Leaving just 5 above the Line to vote.
Should end well…
