TBL 5×25: First proper Singles weigh-in this year for realsies.

Previously on The Biggest Loser the Couples became Singles became pigs in mud became one fewer as Chris took the money and ran!

Tonight, breakdowns, breakthroughs and a record is broken in the weigh-in room. Presumably not because someone sits on a record…

Michelle and Shannan rock up to the House. Shannan’s team seem a little flat. Shannon didn’t do his training this morning because he had a bit of a cramp. Sook. Shannan’s disappointed, too.
Shannon tells us he wasn’t going to lie to Shannan and say he’d done it. Now he’s just got to get down and do it.

Shannan’s brought in a copy of the leaderboard as a motivational tool today. He puts a bit of yellow tape across the board and says that’s what the elimination would look like at the moment.
Shannan asks Shannon if he’s ready to go home. No? So why didn’t you get your arse out of bed this morning and train? Shannon suggests it’s because he’s an idiot but Shannan says that’s a copout, he’s not an idiot. Shannon thinks maybe it’s because he’s still soft.

Jarna’s not ready to go home either and she knows her life at home wouldn’t be a good one if she left now.
Jarna says she’s done the work to be above the Yellow Line, she’s not ready to go so Shannan says then don’t give up!

Phoebe’s really upset and tired. She’s been very unmotivated and hasn’t done the work this week and this one bad week might send her home. She knows she’ll be below the Line this week.
Phoebe kinda wants to go home, but she doesn’t know if she’d be okay if she went home so Shannan says that she’s definitely not ready or she’d know she’d be okay.
Shannan gets her to close her eyes and think about the past 5 weeks and everything she’s gone through. Now it’s time to show a bit of guts and get through this!
“What have you got to do now?” “Train.” “Train like who?” “Like a superfreak.”

Errr, okay!

Shannan says to them all that it’s times like these when they’re feeling down that they need a trainer to pick them back up. Shannan tells us he knows he can turn this negative energy right back around.
What can we control now? The controllables! The contestants are obviously well rehearsed on that line. So they have to train and control that.
Phoebe has determined look on her face and Shannan says that’s the look he wants!

Phoebe tells us the best training sessions are the ones when you’re feeling anything. Angry? Train. Upset? Train. Unmotivated? Train. Because when you’re done you always feel good!

Shannan asks everyone to get back on the cross trainers after the session and Shannon gets up from doing weights and can’t put any weight on his right leg, his knee is hurting a whole bunch. The medic says they probably need to go put some ice on his knee and assess the situation.
But Shannon says he can just sit there and keep training if he has to. So the medic is strapping ice packs to Shannon’s leg while he does upper body weights still.
Shannan says that’s the Shannon he wants to see – finding ways TO train, not ways NOT to train!

Michelle’s Last Chance Training is out in The Yard again. She loves the old style training and it’s the kind of training her team really love.
Phil’s doing some boxing with Michelle. With his glasses still on, so they flip and flop around while he’s trying to punch. Careful you don’t smash Michelle!

Michelle’s asking them all what weights they want to lose this week. Daina says 5kg, Phil says 10kg which he knows is a big number but he knows he’s put the work in.
David wants 8, Caitlin wants 8-10, Joe wants 10, Rick wants 8.

End of the training session is some basketball, one on one.

Michelle takes Joe to the side at the end for a chat. She asks him if the comparisons with his brother do his head in, has it been like that his whole life? Joe says yeah, they’ve always been competitive.
Rick played football and always got picked for the team while Joe didn’t, which always got him down. He’s sick of being written off and Michelle needs him to stop thinking like that and everything else will fall into place.
Joe used to play a fair bit of football but then got too fat to play more than 5 minutes each half. His Dad used to come to all his games but then there wasn’t much point when he wasn’t playing much.
Joe’s Dad told him to grab this chance by the throat and run with it – Michelle says he’s a smart man!

Weigh-in time! Shannon says he’s the biggest competitor there and he’s severely injured (it’s a sore knee, harden the fuck up!) and he knows if he hasn’t lost the weight the others will probably send him home!

Hayley reiterates that it’s still Yellow Line territory. Two people will fall below the Yellow Line, not two couples as before. Nothing unexpected there.

Phil has immunity this week so he’s first to weigh-in.

Phil: 98kg
Loss: 14.7kg – 13.04%

Yeah, I don’t think anyone’s topping that anyway!
Phil’s been spurred on by his wife this week. He owes her a lot. “It’s all for you Turbo Chucky Doll.”
Still a very weird name for your wife, mate.
Phil’s stoked to be under 100kg, too.

Hayley says the news gets even better: he’s just recorded the highest single week percentage weightloss in Biggest Loser history. Breaking the record David set back at the end of Week One of this season!
While still on the scales Phil mimes kicking a football goal while commentating like he just won a game for the Bulldogs.
Yeah, you were going well up till then!

Shannon’s turn now.

Shannon: 165kg
Loss: 9.7kg – 5.55%

Shannon says his fiance would probably break down and cry to see him now, 34-ish kilos later. He wants to be dependable and do all the things with his kids Phil and David have been saying they’ll start doing. He doesn’t want Sarah waking up in the middle of the night thinking he’s stopped breathing, etc.

Lisa’s turn.

Lisa: 89.8kg
Loss: 6.2kg – 6.46%

Lisa’s quite happy with 6.2kg. She just really wanted to get below 90kg. Her kids have never seen her under 90kg, apparently, so she’s in tears at the thought of them seeing her at that weight. She never thought she’d get to below 90 by the midway mark.

David’s turn after the ad break.

David: 115.8kg
Loss: 7.1kg – 5.78%

Puts him in third behind Phil and Lisa. Not safe yet!
David says it was his hardest day at Camp when he said to Michelle that he was ashamed of the person who he was before. He feels like now he’s stood up and feels more like a human being.

Jarna!

Jarna: 90.5kg
Loss: 6.5kg – 6.7%

She seems quite happy at the number while also disappointed she didn’t get under 90kg.
She can hardly believe her percentage. It makes her safe immediately as she’s now in second place. Which means her and Lisa are both safe. Which means Daina is not particularly happy!

Rick’s turn on the scales.

Rick: 122.3kg
Loss: 10.7kg – 8.05%

Second place, safe again!
Rick had a tough decision to leave his pregnant girlfriend but seeing the good numbers roll in makes him think it’s worth it. He says he’s still 120kg but he thinks he’s looking alright. Joe mutters under his breath, “Turn it up!”

Joe is next, naturally.

Joe: 132.6kg
Loss: 9.3kg – 6.55%

4th place and safe, too. He’s a little disappointed to not beat Rick but he’s really happy with 9.3kg. Apparently his Dad would be “proud as gold”. Erm, okay.

Daina’s turn. She needs to lose at least 4.9kg.

Daina: 81.5kg
Loss: 2.2kg – 2.63%

Given her current weight, that’s a pretty decent result. But in terms of the competition it’s pretty much going to be her dooooom!
Daina’s worried about her sister more than her own ability to stay. She just wants to be there to help Caitlin. Awww!

Phoebe’s turn. She needs at least 5.2kg. Ouch. I don’t think she has that in her.

Phoebe: 87.8kg
Loss: 5.7kg – 6.1%

She’s shocked and really, really relieved. And proud!
Phoebe had stopped going out with her friends at home. But everything has changed now, she trains and she can look at herself in a full length mirror. And she’ll have to buy one when she gets home!

Daina’s now officially below the line with just Caitlin to weigh in. Caitlin needs at least 8kg. Or she’ll be facing elimination with Daina.

Caitlin: 136.9kg
Loss: 6.4kg – 4.47%

Caitlin stands there stoically for a short while but then starts sobbing and crying and carrying on.
Caitlin thinks Daina will try and sacrifice herself for Caitlin.
But Joe and Rick are like brothers and Phil’s like a Dad and Phoebe’s like a sister. But if Daina goes Michelle won’t know what’s hit her. She’ll do tenfold the work.

Just think, if you were already doing that you wouldn’t both be below the Line this week. Duhhhhhhh…

Phil’s the Biggest Loser for the week and the new record holder. And he’s now first place overall in the entire competition!

The contestants now have a tough decision – save the sister who needs to be there or the sister who poses the least threat to the rest of them.
Or the sister with the shitty gold bracelet that never gets talked about for some reason. Maybe they just decided to get rid of them?!

Tomorrow night the sisters have a plan… but will the others play along? Oooh!
And training with the Bondi lifeguards, cool!
