TBL 5×19: One versus Five. Two versus Ten? Girls versus Mixed Gender? You work it out.

Previously on The Biggest Loser, Caitlin and Daina won Temptation by completely resisting Temptation. Awesome strategy!
They also won a 2kg weight advantage at the next weigh-in during the weekly Challenge so they’re well poised to win this week.

But tonight, “beware the team with their backs to the wall!” It’s Caitlin and Daina versus the average of the other 5 couple’s weightloss. Can they emerge victorious?

Stay tuned! Like, after this break thing…

Michelle and Shannan jog up to Camp… with no voiceover today? Okay.
Shannan’s group are waiting for him in the lounge room and he can tell they’re all a little flat. Phoebe lays out the Challenge for them.

Cue recap of the events. Yawn. Read the recap if you can’t remember or missed it. I’m not writing it all again!
They all recognise it’s a big advantage, but Shannan asks them who has been having doubts they could still win and they all raise their hands. Then Shannan asks who has no doubt and he raises his own hand. He has no doubts, not for a second, they can overcome the 2kg penalty. Absolutely!
Shannan tells them they have nothing to worry about. They’ve got to believe in themselves or they may as well stay there on the couch instead of doing Last Chance Training.
Am thinking Chris and Shannon are seriously contemplating that.

Michelle is shocked that the girls have a 2kg advantage but she wants to make sure they’re not resting on that saving them. Daina says she’s been proud of Caitlin’s efforts this week.
What changed for Caitlin this week? Everyone’s been doing everything for her, pretty much her whole life, and this week she’s realised she’s got to start doing it for herself.
There’s a bit of footage of Caitlin being fat and trying to mash the TV remote to change channel and Daina takes the remote from her and does it instead while Caitlin stares vacantly. It’s a real mystery how she got that fat, sometimes…
Caitlin says that while Michelle’s been pushing her in training she wasn’t pushing herself and now she finally is. We’ll see at the weigh-in!

“Awesome! I’m happy! I don’t have to kick anyone’s arse! … oh, wait, yes I do, it’s Last Chance Training!!!” Michelle is evil!

Michelle’s giving a project to Caitlin today, design her own circuit for herself and Daina for Last Chance training. She chose some shoulder press weight lifting stuff, “over the fence” jumping back and forth over a bench, throwing a medicine ball up and catching it off the wall, pushups, throwing the medicine ball around, situps, probably other things we didn’t get to see. And she’s not bitching and moaning like she usually does. Vast improvement!

Shannan wants all his contestants pushing harder and harder today. David says they knew it’d be a tough session today because of the 2kg advantage to the Yellows.
So they’re all going on pretty much all the machines at once. And the last part of the circuit is the new climbing wall that Lincoln Hall was climbing the other day.
Lisa thought it looked a little scary and hard, but she’ll give it a go. Shannan says that biomechanically Lisa was always going to struggle to get up the wall but Lisa’s not giving up, she keeps getting back up each time she comes off.

Jarna actually does surprisingly well on the wall. But the spidermonkey of the group is Chris, according to Shannan. He actually gets right up the top and has to wait for more knobbly bits to hang on to. No bitching at all, Shannan says.

Michelle has saved the “best” till last for the training session – interval training on the treadmills.
Caitlin starts feeling anxious right away. Last time she did this she sobbed all the way through. Caitlin says that when she was sobbing on the floor that was her lowest point.
But today she’s running at 12km/h with good posture and no tears! Michelle’s stoked to see her manage it. She’s 150kg and she’s running at 12km/h after the really hard circuit they’d already done.
Michelle says that Caitlin taking responsibility for herself has helped her relationship with Daina, too.

Shannan says it’s been a tough couple of days for his team. He tells them that he knows they’re feeling a bit dirty over the girls having the advantage. But it’s time to let that anger and aggression out.
So the contestants get three choices. Kick Shannan, knee Shannan or bash into him while he holds a crash mat. Pretty much all of them choose the bash option. Jarna says it’s so much fun bashing Shannan!
Shannan picks Lisa out first. She’s not pushing hard enough so Shannan asks if she’s turned into a pussy since last week?

Rick and Joe are looking forward to it quite a lot. Joe absolutely smashes Shannan, to the point where he has to turn around and run backwards to set himself for the next charge.
At the end of the session Shannan says he knew it’d been a hard session but they’d all come out of it with a much better attitude.

Time for weigh-in. Nerves abound, Phoebe’s tipping a close result. We’ll see!

Hayley spells out the whole “One Couple versus Five Couples” thing again. Caitlin and Daina need a higher percentage of weightloss than the average weightloss of the other five couples.
If they win they get the one and only vote to send someone home from the other couples. And it will only be one so one couple will be torn apart.
However if the group wins they get to break up the “Sister Act” and send one of the girls home.

First team to weigh in will be the five couples, setting it up for an epic showdown at the end!

Chris and Shannon hop up first.

Chris: 103.2kg
Loss: 4.0kg

Shannon: 174.7kg
Loss: 6.1kg

Total: 10.1kg – 3.51%

Which is coincedentally their team’s average loss so far!
Shannon says it’s been a good week in training, they’ve had more competition.
Chris is usually only facing off against Wayne and he can never manage to beat “that old man”. But having Rick and Joe there as well has been great.

And that’s who’ll be weighing in next, oddly enough.

Joe: 141.9kg
Loss: 6.8kg

Rick: 133kg
Loss: 4.4kg

Total: 11.2kg – 3.91%

Team Average: 3.71%

Joe says if he does get sent home because someone else hasn’t quite done enough? So be it. He’s proud of his 6.8kg this week so he’s happy.

Phoebe and Wayne are up next. Phoebe’s worried she’ll let the team down…

Phoebe: 93.5kg
Loss: 3.9kg

Wayne: 119.9kg
Loss: 4.1kg

Total: 8kg – 3.61%

Team Average: 3.68%

Phoebe laughs at her loss and everyone else is pleasantly surprised by how much she’s lost!
Wayne and Phoebe are a little disappointed they brought the average down. Realistically, Wayne brought the average down. Phoebe’s the reason it wasn’t dragged down more!

Lisa and Jarna’s turn now. Jarna doesn’t want to let the team, herself or Lisa down.

Jarna: 97kg
Loss: 2.7kg

Lisa: 96kg
Loss: 4.3kg

Total: 7kg – 3.5%

Team Average: 3.63%

Lisa is stoked as she’s finally under 100kg.
Jarna says she’s sooo not talking to Lisa now!
Jarna wants her team to win. She doesn’t want to say goodbye to anyone and she also doesn’t want to lose or go home herself.
And she doesn’t feel safe in this competition because she’s really outspoken, apparently. Sometimes she says things when other people only think them and that’s probably got her and Lisa into trouble a couple of times. When The Firm was in existence they were top of the hitlist every time. And she’s concerned she’s still top of the hitlist.
You’re not. Chris is way ahead of you!

David and Phil are up next. Caitlin figures they’re due for a good week as they had a bad one last week.
David’s figuring they need about 4% to drag the percentage back up…

David: 122.9kg
Loss: 6.3kg

Phil: 112.7kg
Loss: 7kg

Total: 13.3kg – 5.34%

Team Average: 3.97%

“No more strawberry jam, strawberry jam, pump it up, only fat free ham, fat free ham PUMP IT UP!” Erm, Phil, mate, you’re a bit weird!
David’s not too concerned about possibly going home. He’s taken Shannan’s philosophy on board. Control the controllables, not the variables. Voting’s a variable so he won’t worry about it.

Now it’s time for the Yellow girls to weigh in. They need to get better than 3.97%, which is 9.6kg between them.
But they have a 2kg weight advantage.
So it’s actually 7.6kg.

That seems very doable. Realistically Caitlin should get most of that all by herself…
Caitlin says she’d be shattered if one of them had to go home this week after all the progress they’ve made.
Daina pats her on the shoulder and says it doesn’t matter if they don’t get there, Caitlin says it does matter so don’t stand there and say it doesn’t!

Caitlin: 143.3kg
Loss: 7.3kg

Daina: 83.7kg
Loss: 5kg

Total: 12.3kg (14.3kg with advantage) – 5.98%

Caitlin’s sour face instantly changes to relief and Daina looks at her own weight and sees 5kg loss and screams in delight.
Then both burst into tears and hug each other tight.
Not only did they win the weigh-in, they did it even without the advantage. And the advantage would not have saved the other team if they’d had it instead!

Daina means the world to her, as does her other sister and her Dad. The number is for them as well. And for her Mum. Apparently she prayed to Mum all week.
Caitlin also means everything to Daina, she’s her little sister… errr… anyway, she’s glad to be there doing this experience with her. And she’s so proud of her.

Daina and Caitlin return to the stands and are still giggling at how much they lost.

But now they have a difficult decision ahead of them – who do they send home?

Phil’s this week’s Biggest Loser. He’s proud and happy and so on.
But being The Biggest Loser isn’t enough to keep him safe this week. All ten of the other team are now vulnerable to elimination.
Surely the girls won’t send Phil home, sheesh!

Lots of theories flowing around over who’ll be sent home.

Tomorrow night is Elimination Night… will the girls go with their hearts or their heads?

Who do you think they’ll send home?
