TBL 5×13: Weigh-In and Firm Favourites…

Previously on The Biggest Loser Jenni got sent home and Phoebe joined Wayne as the new-ish Red Team.
The Yellow girls, Caitlin and Daina, have immunity for the elimination. And Wayne won the 10km run.

Tonight, Phoebe is let in on some big secret she had no idea about?
Chris gets to let out some frustration in a boxing session with Shannan.

… and it’s weigh-in night again. I wonder if anyone will be nervous?

Read on to find out!

Michelle and Shannan rock up to Camp to get their teams stuck into Last Chance Training. Last week’s weigh-in was super close so every pushup is important, says Shannan.

Meanwhile, Chris is still in bed, sleeping!

Yellow, Pink, Phoebe and Rick are in the kitchen… preparing meals?
They think Chris and Shannon will be under the Yellow Line and they think maybe Jarna and Lisa will fall below with them.
Daina says she feels lucky to have immunity and Phoebe says it’d be a nice security blanket.

Caitlin then asks, “Do you reckon we should maybe… tell her?”
Phoebe is baffled and asks what they mean.
One of the Pink girls says that now Phoebe is Wayne’s partner, they’d better let her in on the secret.

They’ve got an alliance! Phoebe says to us that she had no idea. No idea at all.
She says to them that it’s insane and they’re so sneaky!
But now she’s with Wayne she’s in the alliance too.
And there’s 10 people in the Alliance. Crikey! Phoebe’s the 10th.
Phoebe boggles some more.
Pink, Yellow, Green, Grey and Red form the alliance.

And they have a name. “The Firm.”
Apparently they formed on Day One. Day One!

And they have rules. Apparently if two couples below the Line are members of The Firm, whoever has the lower percentage is the one to go home.
Apparently they’ve been having meetings. And Wayne’s the chairman!
… and the others all have positions, too.
Caitlin’s the Underground Intelligence person. Rick’s security. Daina’s Espionage. The Pink Ladies are Opposition Spies.

The Firm will only last to the halfway mark, Rick says. They get the five couples to the halfway mark and after that it’s over.
Phoebe says it’s great for her longevity in the game but she’s sad for Chris, Shannon, Jarna and Lisa, since they have no idea at all.
Lisa and Jarna will apparently be the ones to be leaving if those four are under the line… but we’ll see, I suppose.

Chris is getting ready in Last Chance Training but he knows he’s probably going to cop it. His mission all week had been to keep up with Wayne in everything Wayne did.
And this morning Chris flaked out and slept in, missing his morning training.
Shannan gives him a chance to confess on his own. And to his credit, Chris says he slept in a bit this morning, but says he tried to get up and do more in the morning than he’s done other mornings. He tried to get 7km in and Shannan suggests he didn’t get it.
Chris says he did make it… but oh, his watch wasn’t on. Shannan’s not having a bar of it. He’s wanted to give Chris the benefit of the doubt but he’s done it every day this week and every time Chris has let him down!

Shannan tells Chris he was his project this week, Chris retorts that he’s been working his arse off this week and this is the first time he’s slept in.
Chris tries to make more excuses but Shannan calls him on it because everyone else was there when he turned up for training and they know he didn’t do what he was supposed to.
Phoebe’s getting annoyed because he won’t just confess and move on and get into it.

Chris tries again to claim he was on the track at 6.30am and if you want to call him a liar, go ahead, cause… “YOU’RE A LIAR!” Bwahaha, gotta love Shannan!
Chris gets up and storms out, Shannan follows after him as he’s determined not to let the guy down, even if Chris is determined to let himself down.

Phoebe says that when Shannan and Chris left the rest of the training group got up and got to training because they can’t afford to slack off.
Shannon says he can’t even defend Chris this time because they don’t train together. Chris goes out and does some running while Shannon goes upstairs to train as he can’t run.
Wayne says he was out walking in the morning till about 6.15am and he didn’t see Chris at all.

Phoebe can tell that the results with Chris and Shannan’s outside chat won’t be good!

Shannan asks Chris why he thinks Shannan had Project Chris this week? Does he think Shannan wants to send him back where he came from.
Chris says Shannan’s got the wrong impression of him, Shannan says he’s got the wrong impression of himself. Because he’s not doing what it takes, he’s doing what Chris thinks is enough. He’s not really angry at Shannan, he’s angry at himself.
Shannan won’t give him charity, he’ll get a pat on the back when he deserves it!

Chris says Shannan made him realise that he’d been trying to silence the demons all week and then he’s up and left a training session and got annoyed at the bloke who’s just trying to help him.

Shannan tells Chris he needs to go train the rest of the group and he’d love to see Chris in there. But that’s up to him.
Shannan turns around and walks back to the gym… and is pleasantly surprised to see Chris jog past him.

So now those who can run have a special treadmill session set up for them. The longer they run, the faster the treadmill gets. No breaks, just harder and faster!
Jarna says this was the closest she’s come to puking in training yet, it was that hard.

Shannan’s very impressed by the people with injuries who’re still training rather than missing the session.
Lisa says she didn’t want to miss it because if one of their training group falls under the Line they’ll probably go home because their training group is in the minority!

Wayne’s getting really fit and strong now. He’s even pushing the treadmill to 17km/h now. Crazy!
Wayne says he was exhausted afterwards and he was hoping it’d be over.
No such luck, of course!

Circuit training this time. Weights and rowing and cycling.
Phoebe says it’s been different without Jenni there but this is her chance to step up.
Wayne says Phoebe’s impressed him with her training all week. Wayne works hard in Last Chance Training and Phoebe’s not far behind his efforts.

After everyone else heads to the showers to clean up Shannan holds Chris back for a special training session.
Shannan tells us that Chris has a lot of anger eating him up and it’ll ruin his chance at losing the weight if he keeps the anger.
Shannan’s not wearing headgear, Chris is though. Shannan says it’s not about Chris bashing him up, it’s about him taking all that rage and letting it out. And he’s swinging for the fences!
Shannan eggs him on a lot while ducking and weaving some of the bigger punches and blocking some, then throwing a couple of body punches of his own when Chris stops throwing enough punches.
Chris tells us afterward that he hadn’t realised how much anger he was storing up, how much hatred to the world he had bottled up.

Chris is going to fight for himself and his life he tells Shannan while they’re still sparring.
Shannan finally asks if he’s had enough and they stop with some fist bumping.
Shannan tells Chris that it’s not something he does with everyone. The anger stays there. What happened between them before stays there, too. Clean slate. Don’t let him down!

No footage of Michelle’s team doing Last Chance this week. I guess all the Drama with Chris took up too much time!

Everyone files into the weigh-in room. Everyone’s nervous and not sure whether this will be the week that they fall below the Line.
Phil says that everyone in The Firm is hoping it’ll be Chris and Shannon, Lisa and Jarna below the Yellow Line. We knew that already but thanks mate!

Daina and Caitlin will be first to weigh-in. They have immunity. Hayley says no matter what the results they record, they can’t be eliminated.
I hope that excludes a weightgain result…

Caitlin: 150.6kg
Loss: 2.9kg

Daina: 88.7kg
Loss: 0.4kg

Total: 3.3kg – 1.36%

Caitlin’s a little disappointed she didn’t quite get below the 150kg mark. Daina’s happy they have immunity since her result may have sunk Caitlin otherwise.
Daina’s been trying different things with her diet apparently and not being so hardcore about her exercise. She was hoping for one or two or three kilos, not four hundred grams. So the experimenting is over and she’ll be going back to what she was doing before.
Caitlin says 600 grams more would have been nice but she’s happy with her 2.9kg.

Rick and Joe step up to the scales next. Chris is cheering Joe on to beat Rick this week.

Rick: 137.4kg
Loss: 5.5kg

Joe: 148.7kg
Loss: 5.8kg

Total: 11.3kg – 3.8%

Joe’s finally toppled Rick! Rick says that while Joe’s got him on raw weight, Rick’s percentage is still better.

Wayne and Phoebe’s turn now.

Wayne: 124kg
Loss: 6.3kg

Phoebe: 97.4kg
Loss: 3.8kg

Total: 10.1kg – 4.36%

They’re now in first place. Wayne’s almost up to 40kg total weightloss. And Phoebe’s under 100kg now.
Wayne says he’s been starting to get back to feeling 20-25 again. Sure don’t look it though.
Phoebe’s grinning from ear to ear. She’s delighted with her loss this week. She says Wayne’s been a good partner this week and everyone’s been pulling for her too so to get a good result feels really good.
Though it feels a little surreal to be under 100kg again. She says her weight affected her self esteem every day of her life. She’d wake up and be unhappy and felt self concious all the time.
Now she can wake up and think it’s a pretty good day. She’s in an amazing place and she got to train with the Waratahs or Matt Shirvington, whatever it is. “It’s bright! It’s happy!”

Elise and Teneale are hoping for the best…

Elise: 87.7kg
Loss: 2.4kg

Teneale: 78.7kg
Loss: 2.4kg

Total: 4.8kg – 2.8%

Twins lost exactly the same amount as each other! They’re currently in third place, however. Right above Caitlin and Daina who can’t fall below the Yellow Line.
Elise has struggled this week because no matter how hard she works her heart rate just isn’t getting up high enough.
Teneale says it’s hard to be happy at the moment because their loss might not be enough to stay. She’d love to see her family and friends… but she also needs to stay there, still. She says a lot of people in the Camp would dream to be at 78kg but it’s not enough for her.

Chris and Shannon’s turn. Dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
They need to lose at least 11.4kg between them to beat Rick and Joe and guarantee they’ll be above the Yellow Line.

Chris: 107.2kg
Loss: 5kg

Shannon: 180.8kg
Loss: 6.5kg

Total: 11.5kg – 3.84%

Second place. They’re stoked to be above the Yellow Line. Chris says he’s trained harder this week than any time he’s been there. He says he’d been in a massive slumber before but it feels like he’s finally woken up.

Teneale? Elise? I still can’t tell them apart. Anyway, one of the Pink Ladies says seeing Chris and Shannon getting good results was a bit worrying as they’re closer to the Yellow Line as a result.
Phoebe says that being late to The Firm and seeing Shannon safe meant she was kind of “Yayyy Shannan” (as in the training team) but also “Awwww Firm”. :(

Phil and David will need at least 9.8kg to stay above Rick and Joe. David says that he and Phil looked at each other and figured it’d be a piece of cake.

Phil: 119.7kg
Loss: 3.6kg

David: 129.2kg
Loss: 4.8kg

Total: 8.4kg – 3.26%

Everyone is stunned by the relatively weak losses of the two men.
Elise and Teneale are now below the Yellow Line as Caitlin and Daina can’t be up for elimination.
Phil says he still needs to be there but he’s hoping to have a bit more confidence in himself if he does stay, to try and help him lose more weight.
Hayley asks if he feels he’s confronted all his demons and Phil says yes and no, he tries to be happy and positive each day.

The hardest bit for him was around 7-10 years of age. He got bullied a whole lot, punched, kicked, bashed and teased for about 5 years and that’s where his confidence was shattered. When a kid’s spirit is broken it’s hard to get back.
Apparently it started when he was 7 and got pushed into a pool and nearly drowned. The kids saw the weakness there, he says, and he paid for it from then on.
Phil describes 6 boys waiting for him one afternoon, pinning him down, hitting him with a stick and then laying into him with their boots. He covered up as best as he could but his eye got busted up pretty good. He tried to walk home as best as he could but eventually a woman pulled up beside him in her car and asked if he was alright. She called an ambulance for him and he went off to hospital.
Apparently he’d gotten kicked so hard in the eye that it affected his eyesight. He’s had to wear glasses ever since.
Phil says he’d never done anything to them, all he’d done was get thrown into a pool.

Phil back on the scales says to the bullies out there that they don’t realise what they’re doing. He says once you break a kids spirit they’re never going to get it back. Befriend the kids, they’re weaker, protect them. You might make a good friend out of them. You’ll regret it for the rest of your life if you do it because they don’t deserve it. Please think about it!

Yeah, sadly, they’re going to think about it and think, “I can ruin their lives forever? That’s fucking AWESOME.” Because bullies are shitheads. That’s why they’re bullies.

Anyway, that’s a whole other rant unrelated to recapping the show!

Lisa and Jarna need to lose at least 6.8kg to stay in the competition. If they do then David and Phil will be pushed below the Yellow Line (but above Teneale and Elise) and will face elimination instead.
Lisa’s not sure if she’s done enough as she had an injury but Jarna’s busted her gut all week!

Lisa: 100.3kg
Loss: 4kg

Jarna: 99.7kg
Loss: 3.6kg

Total: 7.6kg – 3.66%

They’re safe, and quite happy about being safe!

Two of The Firm couples will now be below the Line, awww!
Wayne says that’s not great but Lisa and Jarna put in the hard yards and they deserve to get the results they have.
Lisa says she has a new best friend in the house – the spin bike!
Jarna says she’s dieted before and not managed to get under 100kg before but now she feels like she can do even better.

Wayne is, again, The Biggest Loser of the week.

This is the first time Elise and Teneale, David and Phil have been below the Yellow Line. And now their fate rests in the hands of the other contestants.
Which means Elise and Teneale will be going home, according to the rules of The Firm? They had the lowest percentage!

Tomorrow night… The Firm faces a test of loyalty! Wayne says the Pink Team had the lowest percentage and by the rules of The Firm, they should go.
But it looks like Caitlin and Daina might be wavering…

And later in the week, Anthony “The Man” Mundine is going to drop in for a training session. Oooh!
