TBL 5×07: Weigh-in Night. Spoiler: They’ve lost weight!
Previously on The Biggest Loser Daina totally pigged out on desserts to save her sister from elimination!
Commando Steve returned for the first time this year to have the contestants drag a bulldozer through the mud then dig up a bunch of dirt. Awesome!
Tonight, Geoff has to face reality? Wayne sees red during training with Shannan.
And some decision offers someone a second chance which has something to do with the weigh-in but it’s all a bit vague. Good thing the episode starts right after the credits, then.
Shannan arrives at Camp with some news for Wayne and Geoff, who just happen to be sitting on a bed waiting for him.
Geoff’s only just back from a week in hospital where he found he had low kidney function.
Wayne really only came so Geoff could lose the weight but Wayne’s concerned about his health.
Wayne’s been watching him at night time, apparently. Hmm. Geoff’s been getting up a couple of times a night, not sure why, probably just feeling unwell.
So Geoff has to make a decision!
Everyone files into the big gym, Michelle’s there for her team, Shannan turns up with Wayne and Geoff. Hayley was already there waiting to talk at them.
Once Geoff and Wayne come in with Shannan everyone starts to twig that it’s obviously something about Geoff, who they all know has been less than well.
A couple of nights ago he had to see the Biggest Loser medico and got some results back that were not very good. He’s now facing a battle against a serious illness. If he stays on he might be jeopardising his spot, and Wayne’s spot, and he doesn’t want to do that to his best mate.
So Geoff’s taking himself out of the competition. Few of the girls tear up at that. Awww!
Geoff’s had a good time getting to know them all and learning all the things he’s learned.
Geoff gives a special thankyou to Hayley for all her help and support. Guess she’s taking a much more hands on role than Ajay.
Shannan thinks he’s learned enough already that he’ll be okay on the outside and he’s walking out a hero because he’s made the ultimate sacrifice for a mate.
Geoff says he’s going to miss them all. Awww!
The Biggest Loser will be continuing to support him on the outside and he’ll be back to see them all at the finale. Excellent!
Geoff’s going around saying byebye to everyone, Lisa has apparently been calling him Poppy? Heh.
He’s about to say bye and give Lisa a hug when you can hear Hayley pointedly clearing her throat and then we see her gesturing to a spot in front of herself.
Wayne’s now officially in the competition alone. However if he survives the next weigh-in, he won’t be flying solo for long.
Very soon one of the other contestants will be taking Geoff’s place as Wayne’s partner.
The “Gift of a Second Chance” will be offered to the next couple who’re eliminated. One of them, and only one, will have a chance to stay on at Fat Camp and be Wayne’s new partner.
Rick and Joe aren’t bothered as they’re both happy to stay on as Wayne’s partner. Lisa thinks it would be a hard decision. David is mostly just thinking about how it’s a twist to this week’s elimination.
So Geoff’s just left and everyone heads out to the couches to have a bit of a chat.
Teneale says she’s got no problems being Wayne’s partner, but she’d have trouble going home without Elise or staying on without Elise.
Chris is pondering whether Shannon would be better off partnered with Wayne since Wayne’s been losing plenty of weight and Shannon really needs to stay.
Michelle says one of the things that has always helped her through tough times has been training.
Last Chance Training time!
Lots more pressure on them this time because it’s not just two going home it could be one going home and one staying this time.
“Yes you’re sore, yes you’re tired, yes I’m a cow for making you work harder!” – Michelle being… inspiring? Honest?
David’s got some restrictions on what he can do in training. He’s in a fair amount of pain… and on top of that it’s his daughter’s birthday. Awww!
Daughter’s turning five and he tears up during a break training. Michelle tells him every day he’s there is important. “I’m happy to be your daughter for now!” David gives her a kiss and wishes her Happy Birthday.
Shannan’s group is doing some weights for their Last Chance to begin with. Shannan’s getting them psyched up… except for Wayne, whose head isn’t really in the game because Geoff has only just left.
Geoff’s been a part of his life for the last 35 years and he’s just spent a couple of weeks with him, seeing him go through the illness and so on. Geoff leaving was very hard on Wayne, clearly.
Wayne’s looking like he might give up on the training. But Shannan’s having none of it. No giving up, no letting his family down, he’s been brave!
He’s not doing so well with the weights and Shannan tells him to put it down, he’s doing badly, it’s embarassing.
So Shannan decides he needs to get the frustration out of Wayne, get his negativity turned around. And to do that he’s got to exhaust him totally.
So Shannan grabs a tackle mat and starts egging him on to charge harder. Shannan’s really putting his shoulder into the crashes too, no mean feat considering how huge Wayne is. Wayne tells us he was giving it everything he had, he was trying to knock Shannan over.
They’re inside, mind you. Not outside on the cushy grass or anything.
One last smash and they’re through. Shannan’s sure he’s swung the negativity around now.
Wayne’s super impressed by Shannan’s abilities as a trainer, saying he knows exactly when to push him harder and when to lay off for a bit.
Weigh-in time!
Big surprise, everyone’s nervous. Lots of pressure. Someone might go home, someone might get to stay. That’s going to happen a lot more, guys!
Daina and Caitlin are safe from elimination. Caitlin says she’s still hoping for a good result as she’s there to lose weight.
Wayne will have to weigh-in by himself, but should he stay above the Yellow Line he’ll get a new partner from among those who do not!
Since Daina and Caitlin have immunity, they’re up first.
Daina’s weight: 89.1kg
Loss: 3.7kg
Caitlin’s weight: 153.5kg
Loss: 5.1kg
Total: 8.8kg – 3.5%
Daina’s very happy to be under 90kg. She says she’s not been under 90 since she was about 16.
Then they talk about Daina’s Temptation feast again. Nothing new, she did it for Caitlin, etc.
David and Phil are up next.
David’s weight: 134kg
Loss: 7.5kg
Phil’s weight: 123.3kg
Loss: 6kg
Total: 13.5kg – 4.99%
Phil talks about The Commando and Geoff going home. So in times like these, it’s time for a song.
Oh god, please no!
“You’ve lost that loving feeling…” Yeah, you can’t sing mate.
Wait, is this a callback to Amanda’s terrible singing last season? That must be it.
Rick and Joe’s turn.
Rick’s weight: 142.9kg
Loss: 6.7kg
Joe’s weight: 154.5kg
Loss: 6.7kg
Total: 13.4kg – 4.31%
Rick was desperate to beat his brother, but he couldn’t! Exact same amount.
Daina says the competitive nature of the brothers is good for them and good for the rest of their training group.
Lisa and Jarna are up. Lisa has no regrets, perfect diet and given everything in training…
Lisa’s weight: 103.3kg
Loss: 4.1kg
Jarna’s weight: 104.3kg
Loss: 3.6kg
Total: 7.7kg – 3.58%
Third place, so not safe yet and Daina and Caitlin are directly below them. However they can’t fall below the Yellow Line, so Lisa and Jarna are nowhere near as safe as they seem.
Jarna’s Mum’s letter said that there was nothing she could do that would make them any less proud of her and she’s had a good life and so on, but she still wants her parents to be proud!
Wayne’s turn. He’s hoping for the best but he knows he’s not put in as much work this week due to the troubles Geoff’s been going through.
Wayne’s weight: 130.3kg
Loss: 9.2kg
Total: 9.2kg – 6.59%
First place, by quite a margin and he’s quite, quite safe now! And he’s clearly stoked.
Before he went up to get weighed he put his shirt down on the second walkway to pay his respects to Geoff.
Lisa’s feeling a little sick, due to being so close to the bottom. Jarna says to us that it’s a no brainer if they do get eliminated – Lisa stays and Jarna will go home.
Elise and Teneale are up now. Teneale’s not been feeling the changes, apparently, nor has Elise.
Teneale’s weight: 81.1kg
Loss: 3.5kg
Elise’s weight: 90.1kg
Loss: 2.9kg
Total: 6.4kg – 3.60%
Fourth place. Just ahead of Lisa and Jarna.
Elise isn’t feeling too victorious as she’s worked hard all week but she’s not been mentally there all week. Apparently people were trying on clothes the other day and while she’s lost a good amount of weight, she’s not really seeing the results yet.
Hayley tells her she’s lost over 14kg. Teneale says she can see the changes in Elise and soon she’ll see the changes for herself, too.
Jenni and Phoebe will need to lose at least 8kg between them to stay in the competition.
Jenni’s weight: 113.3kg
Loss: 3.7kg
Phoebe’s weight: 101.2kg
Loss: 3.4kg
Total: 7.1kg – 3.2%
7th place and will be facing elimination! Phoebe’s happy with 3.4 but clearly distraught at the thought of having to go home already. She wants to stay another week to try and get above the Yellow Line.
She says it’ll be a really hard decision if they have to pick which of them stays and which goes home.
Chris and Shannon have been saved till last. They need to lose at least 11.2kg between them. Should be doable. Jarna thinks so, too.
Chris’ weight: 112.2kg
Loss: 4.4kg
Shannon’s weight: 187.3kg
Loss: 6.4kg
Total: 10.8kg – 3.48%
They’re below the Yellow Line and facing elimination alongside Phoebe and Jenni.
Duh, pretty obvious who’ll be getting voted out. If the other contestants have any brains at all they’ll send Chris and Shannon “home” so Shannon can become Wayne’s partner…
Shannon says he’s annoyed that everyone assumes he’ll be the one to stay. Yes he needs to lose weight, but so does Chris.
Chris is having none of it, however. The whole reason they came was so Shannon could lose his gut. So if it comes down to a choice of leaving so Shannon could stay? It’s not even an option, he’d take it in a heartbeat. So don’t hesitate to vote him out, guys.
Wayne not only took on everyone he’s also The Biggest Loser of the week!
Shannon and Chris, Phoebe and Jenni now face elimination. The eliminated couple will get to choose who stays on as Wayne’s partner.
And boy that’s going to be a tough choice if they’re idiots and vote the girls out!
Geoff arrives back home in a taxi. He’s missed his family and they’re all there to welcome him home. He has a cool outdoor bar area at his house!
Tomorrow night… ooh, drama over who’s going to stay. Wayne’s blowing up at the boys, it seems. And the girls are really distraught about having to stay on their own.
And Rick and Joe’s dream comes true – footy training with… Cronulla Sharks? I’m not sure. I don’t really follow the AFL these days.
