TBL Australia 4×69: SIXTY NINER DUUUUUUUUUDE!
Previously on The Biggest Loser… oh, yeah, Stewart and Sharif came back. Damn.
Also, Julie got eliminated.
Tonight… TRAIN THE TRAINERS, BITCHES!
Also a look back at their past, their audition interview tapes. Probably a little less shocking to Sharif and Stewart who’ve probably only just rewatched theirs at home!
They’re also going to try and fit into their “dream outfits”. Thank god some of the owners of the hideous outfits didn’t make it this far!
Everyone files out of the elimination room. Tiffany’s still pretty upset about having to send Julie home.
Sammy thanks Cam and Tiff for not voting for her. She may be Cam’s daughter but she knows it still wasn’t easy for him to vote out Julie.
Next morning (?) Sharif and Cam are measuring out some breakfast foods while Sharif ruminates on there being 5 people still left in the house that have to get down to 3 within the week!
Then the girls notice they’ve got a letter again!
Cam suggests just leaving it on the table. Funny mannnn!
Last letter they received was sending the old final four off to visit Emazon. Not a fun day, Tiffany recalls.
Tiff says the letter reads, “Go to the gym. The day you have been waiting for has arrived.”
Everyone looks a little confused. Hey, here’s an idea, GO TO THE GYM!
They finally do so and see the TVs displaying the message: TRAIN THE TRAINERS.
“You have one hour. Make it count. It’s payback time!”
Sharif does a mean Mr Burns impression, complete with “Eeeexcellent.”
Sammy says she HAS been waiting for this day.
Tiffany looks… evil! She’s looking forward to it a bit too much!
Stewart and Sharif decide to take Shannan for the session since they’ve been in Shannan’s team since Day One. Meanwhile Tiffany, Sam and Cam were in Michelle’s team from Day One so they take her!
“Oh it’s on!” – Sammy
Cam says to the girls that Michelle is always organised with them so they’ve got to be prepared for her!
Meanwhile, on the Isle of Lost Souls, Commando Steve is trekking through the woods with two very heavy backpacks slung over his shoulders.
In the backpacks are Bob and Nathan’s old selves. The weight they’ve each lost is in the backpack.
Meaning Bob has more than 60kg in his pack. Nathan has more than 40kg. Nathan and Bob both sit down to put their packs on and Nathan actually falls backwards when preparing to stand up. The Commando ends up having to help them both up.
Bob and Nathan can barely believe how heavy they used to be.
But they have to do their exercises with the packs on. Nathan says he can feel the strain in his knees and other joints.
Bob’s looking back at how he was with anger. He’s angry he let himself get to that in the first place.
The Commando gets them both to try and do some pushups. Nathan manages to hold himself up in the ready position but once he starts lowering himself he just collapses under the weight. And he can’t get back up!
Commando says that every bit of pain they feel will remind them not to go back to that!
Bob finally gets to take his pack off and he’s stunned at how good it feels.
Nathan says the weight is gone forever and it’s never coming back.
Andrew, Day One… Wow, I’d forgotten how immense he was.
Today… He’s still a big, solid man. But it’s muscle now. He’s a well built man!
He’s looking forward to giving everyone the wow factor at finale!
Everyone’s waiting for Michelle and Shannan to arrive so they can get trained.
But first, they have to reveal Julie’s been eliminated. Shannan’s very disappointed. He says to everyone that each week it’s usually like one of their kids has gone but this week it’s one of our Mum’s has gone! And Michelle laughs and agrees.
Cam says she’s not just an inspiration to those outside the house but to everyone within it, too.
“She’s tops!” – Shannan
Shannan’s pleased to see Sharif and Stewart back in the game though.
Then they finally get around to recapping the weigh-in. Usually all the recaps are done with by now!
Stewart’s very proud of his weightloss. Shannan seems to be a bit, “Yeah, whatever. Moving right along to people who aren’t being douchebags right now.”
Shannan and Michelle are stunned by Sharif’s loss. Shannan’s covering his mouth with his hand. Think maybe to remind himself not to swear his head off!
Shannan asks Sharif what his total weightloss is now, in the 50s? No, the 60s actually, Sharif says. Cam pipes up to say that not only is Sharif in the 60s but he skipped the 50s entirely because he went from 49-ish KG lost right up to the 60s!
“Let’s do it!” – Michelle
Ahh yes, but before we train, we have something to show you, Little Miss Bossy Britches!
Michelle then has an aside to say she was looking around going uh-oh and wondering what was up this time.
They head off to the big gym and as Shannan comes in the doors he sees the Train the Trainers signs. Sammy says to Michelle, “Can you both read? Ohh, ohh, what’s that?”
Michelle looks a little scared of being trained by Tiffany, Cam and Sam, sucking in the big breaths already. Sam helpfully asks if they want her to go get a spew bucket!
Michelle then does a bit of fake crying and throws herself on Shannan for squeezy hugs. Awww!
Shannan’s laughing. But he looks a little nervous too. Michelle’s bouncing and grinning and then says, “Bring. It. On.” Which Shannan echoes.
“And we were going to put Michelle through… hell!” – Sammy
“Suck it up, girlfriend!” 129 pushups and then 129 crunches then 129 double punches above her shoulders. Why 129? That’s how many kilograms the three have lost since starting.
And apparently that’s the warmup. Michelle has an aside to reveal how horrified she was on learning that was just the start!
“PUNCH LIKE YOU MEAN IT!” – Tiffany shouts in Michelle’s face. Heh.
Meanwhile Shannan’s lifting a kettle weight, over and over. Then doing some burpees. Then lifting the weight. Then more burpees. Hoo boy!
Shannan’s already dripping with sweat after his “warm up”.
“We call that one Sharif’s Revenge!” “Ohh, that’s evil boys.”
Shannan says the world is spinning and he’s feeling like he might throw up. But he says being a trainer is about leading by example, so whatever the boys throw at him, he’ll be getting through. He’s going to prove to them that he is the man he says he is.
After an ad break we come back to… Holy crap, Michelle’s giving CAMERON a piggyback ride. That’s very impressive! He’s probably twice her weight! Sure, she’s struggling a bit under the load but the fact she’s actually doing it proves she can walk the walk.
Michelle says it’s not just about getting revenge it’s also about the contestants proving they can put together a good training session now.
Then they pull out a backpack. Tiffany wanders to Michelle with it, while whistling. Quite nonchalantly!
Michelle’s going to have a bunch of weights in her backpack. While running on the treadmill. Ouch!
Sammy says the scariest part was how much Tiffany was enjoying it!
“I am strong! I hope!” “Do you deserve this?” “No! But I’ll take it anyway!” Heh.
Sharif’s worked out Shannan’s next exercise. Shannan says he’s a sadist.
Tobata Intervals? Something like that. Timed, high intensity intervals. 20 seconds of flat out exercise with 10 seconds rest in between.
The idea of it is to punish Shannan’s entire body. Sharif says they’re using everything they’ve learnt from Shannan in the training today.
Shannan says that the first circuit he gave it everything, 100%.
Then of course Sharif announces he has to do it twice more. And each of the two following times he has to beat his repetition count from the first interval.
Ouch. Sharif is definitely a sadist!
Shannan’s wondering where he’s going to find the extra power to complete the other two intervals.
Michelle says one of her favourite things to do is to climb on top of the leg press machine and have the contestants push her body weight – about 60kg.
So Tiffany’s clambering up on top of the leg press machine. Tiffany weighs around 70kg now so Michelle thinks it’ll be an easy exercise.
But then evil-Tiffany re-emerges. Evil-Tiffany suggests a better workout would be to have Cameron be the dead weight on the leg press machine.
Michelle looks a little worried now!
But Michelle guts it out and actually manages to lift Cameron many times. Many!
Shannan says his philosophy is about learning to suck it up and make the right decisions when you’re under pressure. So there’s no way he’s going to stop.
Sharif says one of Shannan’s favourite techniques is to get you to try and beat your personal best. So they’re pushing Shannan to get more out of himself each time.
Shannan says he’s starting to really hurt. Definitely a house of pain!
Shannan hops back on the treadmill for the end of the second rotation.
Third rotation starts. Shannan says if he doesn’t get this, he doesn’t deserve to be a trainer!
Shannan tells us he’d put everything into the first two rotations but there was no way he was going to let Stewart and Sharif down.
And now you can see the pain on his face. But also the determination.
“I needed to prove to these boys that I could dig deeper, that I could find something more when I was spent. Just the way those two have done it for me every day for the last three months.”
Well, okay, Sharif was there for much of that time. Stewart sure as hell wasn’t though!
Back to the treadmill for the end. Shannan has to actually dry heave at one point, he’d been working so hard.
Shannan says it’s a testament to the boys of how effective their session was.
“I hate your guts, both of ya, right now! But not for long.” – Shannan
Shannan is struggling for breath after his workout but is complimenting them both on how well put together the session was, it was hard, but doable and fair.
Michelle’s not going to let them break her.
She’s now doing a squat against the wall, as she’s so fond of making the contestants do.
You might also recall she’s fond of standing on people’s thighs while they do it.
So who’s standing on her thighs while she does it?
Samantha.
AND Tiffany.
And she also has two big dumbells, one in each hand, and she has to do curls with them at the same time.
And she’s getting through it, too! Craziness!
Then to finish off they’ve got her sprinting on the treadmill. Crikey!
Michelle says she’s cooked, they’d smashed her. They were ruthless but they put together a smart, tough, kick butt training session.
Perhaps the best indication of how completely buggered Michelle is – when she gets off the treadmill she starts to kneel on the floor between machines but puts her fingers down on the edge of the treadmill as it’s still slowing down. Not a mistake she’d be likely to make ordinarily!
As she’s kneeling down Sam asks if she wants the spew bucket? “Don’t be embarassed to use it!”
Michelle doesn’t need it though. She does flop backwards onto the ground and pant heavily though, poor thing!
Michelle says the beauty of it, even though she was in a world of hurt, was that every training session after that will be about her training them. So just remember, “Payback’s a bitch!”
Tiffany’s already looking horrified before Michelle utters that. As Michelle heads off to clean up they’re all calling apologies after her.
Shannan and Michelle then have something “special” to show the contestants.
Their audition DVDs! That’s not so special…
First we see Tiffany’s tape. She looks like she’s full of marshmallows!
You can tell it’s the same girl but she looks so much better now. She says now she feels like she can go home and match her husband, instead of being a bit of a mismatch.
Apparently it started when her husband was deployed to East Timor for six months. Her weight ballooned out of control while he was gone.
She knew coming on the show would be her last chance to change her life around. And change the life of her husband and more importantly, her daughter Isabelle.
Stewart’s next. He looks really different too. Back at his audition his neck looks more like a fat lady’s thigh or something. Terrible!
He says he needed to get on the show to save Amanda’s life, or that’s what he thought. But looking back at it now he’s realised he needed to get on the show to save his own life, too.
He first realised he had a problem when his Dad said to him that he’s overstepped the boundary a bit.
Michelle’s sitting beside him and she’s got a look of complete shock on her face.
Cam’s turn now. In his audition he doesn’t really seem fussed about his weight.
He’s still a big lad now but even so, it’s very different to how he looked at the audition. He already looks a lot healthier for the weight he’s lost.
Sam knows she’s going to be upset by seeing herself, but didn’t think she’d cry. Seeing her back at that weight almost makes me cry!
Sam wonders how she used to live like that. In her audition tape she’s telling the interviewer she was tricking herself into thinking things weren’t so bad but then she’d step on the scales and realise she’s one of those obese people!
Sharif says watching Sam’s tape really got to him because you could not only see the pain, you could feel it.
Cam says he couldn’t believe the difference between the girl on the TV and the girl sitting next to him.
Sam tells us she won’t be going back there. The girl on the TV was in hell and she’s not going there again.
Sharif’s head used to be soccer ball in size and shape. He says he remembers how he felt then – he knew he was at the point of “Now or Never”. He’d been overweight his whole life and he’d figured that was just the way it was going to be.
His gut is actually bulging so much he’s in danger of losing a button. Now? He’s in one of the Biggest Loser shirts and it’s quite noticeably loose on him. And even though he’s upset at seeing himself on the TV as he used to be, he still looks miles better than he used to.
Sharif says he used to think he carried himself alright for a big guy but now he’s realised he was disgusting. And he never realised he was so unhappy.
Now he knows what it’s like to be free. You don’t have self-loathing, you have self-respect.
Annnnnnnnd now it’s time for the trainers to get some payback!
Shannan’s actually using the circuit the boys put together for the Train the Trainers session. He wants to use it to show them just how fit they’ve become.
Stewart’s punching the heavy bag. Like a total girl. Hell, even the girls on the show punch harder than that, come to think of it!
Michelle’s got her people out on the hot parade ground today. They’ve each got to go between the different stations, fence jumps, step ups onto a bench and weightlifting.
Michelle asks Sam at one point if she’s strong and keeps asking till Sam spazzes out a bit and yells “STRONGGGG!!!” quite loudly. At which point Michelle loses it and starts laughing.
And then Michelle has them do the 129 punches thing she’d had to do earlier, after they’d gone through the rest of the training!
Sam says she’d given a bit of stick to Michelle earlier, but Michelle made her the strong, cocky woman she is now. She’s just copping it back!
Sam can barely believe she manages to knock out 129 punches. She’s quite proud of herself and Michelle is obviously very proud of her too.
Shannan’s pushing the boys to the max, too.
Sharif says he’d been overweight for 32 years, but now he’s stronger and fitter than he’s ever been.
Shannan says both Stewart and Sharif are athletes now, they’ve come so far.
He even says their courage, determination, commitment and consistency is equal to anything he’s seen on any playing field in the world.
Tiffany says she’s noticed a massive difference in her athletic abilities. She was puffing her way up the beach at Fitzroy Island. And now unless she keels over and dies, she won’t stop! She wants to be the Biggest Loser and to do that she’s got to give it all she’s got!
Michelle says Tiff is now confident and full of self-belief and self-worth.
Tiff and Sam both complete 129 punches, so now Cam has to do it as well. Michelle says if you’d asked a couple of weeks ago, Michelle would have thought there’d be no way he’d get through it. But with his new headspace? Absolutely! Why not!
And now it’s time for dream outfits!
Sam’s outfit represents being a normal 20 year old girl. Michelle, again, says she can’t believe Sam has never worn jeans! The 20s is all about jeans!
Stewart’s dream outfit is… a golf outfit. One of those silly toff-like golf outfits, no less.
Apparently he stopped playing when he got fat. No idea why, it never stopped a lot of the fat old guys who wandered around the course I used to play!
Cam’s outfit is a tuxedo. Oooh! His is about being able to go out with his wife and not look out of place.
Sharif’s is a State of Origin jersey. A QUEENSLAND Origin jersey. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Tiffany’s outfit is a pretty black dress. She’s actually worn it before. 7 years ago. She’s held onto it, hoping she’d fit back into it one day.
Sammy comes out first. And she fits in her jeans! And she has a pair of heels on which don’t really go with the jeans but oh well.
Stewart looks like a twat in his golf gear. Fits well, but he looks a twat!
Cam looks good in his tux.
Sharif looks good in his jersey and jeans. Despite it being a QLD jersey.
Tiffany looks the best of all though. Size 12 dress and she feels sexy. And she does look sexy! Shannan and Michelle both agree.
Shannan then asks Michelle about Sharif – other than the colour of the jersey. Good boy!
Sharif went from a size 54 pants, to a size 38. Both measurements are in inches!
Stewart’s gear is a “small”. Erm, maybe in giant land that’s a small. In the land of the real that’s a medium at least. He’s too tall for anything else, for one thing!
But he’s well pleased about fitting into it.
Michelle has the first dance with Cam in his tuxedo. He’s looking pretty dapper, I must say!
Sam looks… pretty! She loves it, too.
Tomorrow night… a training session with a twist! They’re going to move all the furniture out into a truck! And then probably right back into the house again…
Also, the final challenge? On an escalator again. Have to keep pace or you’re out.
And the reward? The winner gets to take the final Walk.
Hopefully the final Walk EVER…
