TBL Australia 4×54: Challenge on a Spinbike, Redux

Previously on the Biggest Loser… ahhh bugger it, go read the recaps if you haven’t been following along!

Tonight’s Challenge Night!
And Cam’s going to have a teary over Sharif having been eliminated. Bit weird but there ya go.

Michelle and Shannan jog up the drive, again, hoping for no more twists, again… Too bad, so sad!
They ask where Sharif is and Andrew says he’s been eliminated, “Surprise!”
Michelle is devastated at the loss of Sharif.

But not as devastated as Cam. He’s bawling, Tiffany’s patting his arm.
Shannan and Michelle try to get him to slow his breathing down because he’s freaking out a bit.
Shannan tells him it’s best to talk about it or it’ll go round and round in your head and chew you up.

Cam says Sharif really wanted to be there. Michelle tells Cam that Sharif will be fine.
Michelle tells Cam that this will just make Sharif stronger.
They’ve still all got each other, Shannan and Michelle are still there to train them and be there for them when they’re needed.

Now Cam’s stopped sobbing, Shannan’s got the men off for a manly session of being men! Roar!
One exercise is Shannan dropping a medicine ball on their tummies while they do situps. Another is hands on heads while Shannan uses their guts as punching bags. Ouch!
Shannan wants to show the boys how tough they are now. Sean, Andrew and Cam walked into the game as broken men, but they’ve come a long way since then.

Next exercise is on one of those bouncy ball thingies. The little quarter ball on a plastic base, but the ball bit is on the ground and you stand on the base and balance with your hands on your head. Then do a squat and hold it!

Next they’re doing some step ups onto a bench. Cam can’t do the exercise perfectly but Shannan says that doesn’t matter, he doesn’t give up and he’s earnt so much respect from Shannan for it.

Andrew is holding out a kettle bell weight in front of him… for two minutes and forty seconds!
Andrew’s the strongest competitor, mentally, Shannan says.

Then the boys are passing a medicine ball up high between themselves while Shannan took turns punching them all in the guts!

Shannan tells us today’s training wasn’t about being scientific, just about making your mind strong and being able to tough things out.

After an ad break we get a catch up with some of the 10 “Second Chance” couples.
Jodie and Craig both started out quite tubby, but they’re getting married soon and want to look good for it.
2 months on, Jodie’s lost 13kg and Craig’s lost over 26kg! They’re both still obese but less so than when they started.

Michael and Chris are brothers and “best of mates”. One of them would like to get into the Army. I guess they don’t accept fatties?
One of them has lost 18.8kg and the other’s lost 25.6kg.
Both still look overweight but both are looking much fitter than they did at the start. Good stuff!

Michelle’s got the girls for training again and she gets them to pack their bags first. Sammy’s wondering what they’re doing, where they’re going…

Michelle says today’s training is about women feeling strong! Back on Fitzroy Island they struggled to carry their luggage through the bush.

First exercise, put the bag above your head. And walk on the treadmill. Evil Michelle!

Tiffany says her baggage represents excuses she’d held onto for too long.

Michelle gets everyone up to a jog on the treadmill, then gets them to throw their bags off.
The girls all manage to run a bit more easily after that!
Sammy says when she threw hers she threw away the old her and all the things that were holding her back.

Julie says she’s never felt so empowered and determined to finish something before.
Meaghan wants the old person to go away so she’s surprised by how far she manages to throw her suitcase!

After they finish with a proper run Michelle is very excited and bounces around dispensing high fives and so on. Such a doofus!

Ajay’s in the big gym now, waiting for the contestants. Along with a bunch of spin bikes. Cue everyone getting nervous!
But Ajay’s in a cleavage-tastic white dress, so it’s all good!

Today’s challenge? Keep cycling and keep your heart rate above 80% of your maximum heart rate.
If you drop below 80%, you’re out of the game.
If you stop cycling, you’re out of the game.
Last person still cycling wins the game!

They have their heart rates on display on a big TV behind Ajay. Their rates start out on green boxes but if they drop too close to 80% it’ll turn orange, then red when they’re out.

And today’s prize? Immunity. Woo!

Cam’s said that spin bikes and him go together like chalk and cheese!

Andrew says the fitter you are, the harder it is to keep your heart rate up. Your heart doesn’t have to pump as hard and it does so more efficiently, so your heart rate stays later.
Meaghan tries sitting at one point but her heart rate immediately drops so she has to stand up the whole way.
Sean says 2 months ago they’d’ve all stopped by now!

Meaghan’s hoping that Andrew and Sean won’t get immunity to keep her alliance strong.
Andrew’s giving it his all to try and get that immunity.

Cam starts needling the youngsters, asking if they’re having trouble keeping up with the oldies!

Andrew’s heart rate is starting to slow down a bit and Andrew’s knee is giving him troubles. He’s getting into more and more pain. He eventually picks up his towel and bites on it to try and take the pain away.
But eventually he’s the first to fall. Surprising most everyone who had expected him to win!

40 minutes in and only Andrew’s out. Impressive!

Julie’s buggered but everyone is calling out encouragement for her… but eventually her pains get the better of her and she’s out.
Cameron’s worried that something’ll happen to himself soon since he and Julie are around the same age and fitness levels. But he’s soldiering on!

Everyone is boggling at Tiffany who is managing to keep her heart rate high enough with minimal effort while everyone else is pedalling quite hard.

Sean’s in a lot of pain and eventually says, “I’m sorry (inaudible)” Not sure who he’s saying sorry to but everyone tells him not to be sorry, he’s done well!

Four people left. All from the alliance.
Meaghan’s trying to convince them she needs it more than the others!

Sammy’s having none of it! She needs it more than Meaghan who’s doing better than her overall!

Meaghan asks Tiffany if she’s going to stop for Meaghan and Tiffany says not to do that to her!

Tiffany’s wondering what’s going on, but Meaghan says if Tiffany’s not going out then Meaghan’s going to drop out because she’s in too much pain.
Tiffany thinks about it for too long and Meaghan gives up and hops off.

One hour and forty five minutes later… Cam, Sam and Tiffany are still going!
But not for long as Sammy drops out too. Cam’s very proud of her though.

Cam and Tiff are giggling at each other, Cam says they’re going for a ride, what’s Tiff got in the picnic basket?
They go past 2 hours and Ajay congratulates them while Tiff and Cam high five each other.

… and of course we find out who wins on Sunday. Ugh.
Bob and Nathan weigh in again and the Yellow Line is back for the other contestants. Who’ll fall under it? Find out Sunday night!
