TBL Australia 4×53: Meaghan takes a walk in the woods. With snakes and spiders and Ajays and such.
Previously on The Biggest Loser, Sammy got the double bracelet, it’s down to singles, Bob and Nathan’s visit to Gilligan has been revealed and… IT WAS MAKEOVER DAY!
Tonight is a dark day for our contestants. Nights are usually dark, Mr Voiceover Man. Maybe you should stop boozing it up till all hours and sleep at a more normal time of day?
Michelle’s got the dudes for training today. She tells them they’re the top four males. Forgot about Bob and Nathan already? Tsk tsk!
She wants them thinking about all the boys who’ve gone home and use that as inspiration to work harder.
“It was all about blokey, hard, gutsy training!” Testosterone is reigning supreme, Michelle says. Yet she’s still acting all girly instead of manly, bah!
Sean’s doing legpresses with some big blue weights on the bar… and a Michelle on there too!
Michelle says the guys train so differently to how they trained on Day One. They’re really getting into it now.
Cam’s jogging up and down the gym with a bandage on his hand but its not been explained so far. Maybe later?
Sean’s happy at the end of the session because he survived a session with Michelle!
Michelle tells the boys they’re getting stronger and tougher every session and when they walk out they can tell themselves, “I rock!”
Shannan’s got the girls off to address the mental side of their transformation. Because they’re girrrrrrrrls and have emotions and crap, I guess?
Shannan wants them all to write down some of the things that have haunted them in the past. The demons of their past and so on.
Meaghan’s putting one up on the wall that says, “Being just a ‘pretty face'” As an example.
Sammy’s the first who has to destroy her past demons.
“Not letting myself live life because it was too hard and I didn’t deserve it.” She says any time something felt good she’d have to adjust her clothes and she’d think she’s just fat.
Shannan says Sammy’s pains are heartbreaking.
The piece of paper with her phrase on it is taped to a kickbag that Shannan’s holding and Sammy’s got to kick it 10 times then afterwards she gets to rip it up. Symbolic, I guess?
Julie’s turn. Her one is, “Why the hell did I take so long to do something about my weight.” Julie tells Shannan she’d not done anything about it for 20 years. She was taking Phil and her family for granted.
Julie’s kicks start out fairly wussy but as Shannan eggs her on she starts kicking harder and crying more. Awwww!
Julie tells Shannan afterwards that there’s no looking back now.
Meaghan’s is, “Never allowing myself to feel the highs or the lows.” Meaghan describes it as a living plateau. And it sucked.
Meaghan’s not much for kicking either. Seems to be pulling her kicks a little. It’s okay, I’m sure Shannan can take it!
Tiffany’s turn last. “Not good enough!!!” She used to wake up not wanting to get out of bed and participate in life. Feeling fat, ugly and unloved. Shannan asks how she felt when she lay in the arms of her man, or when her daughter looked up to her? And she can’t answer for tears.
Then it’s kicking time. Holy crap, Tiffany is awesome at kicking! Kicks Shannan all the way back to the wall before her 10 are even up.
She’s in tears afterwards. But she seems happier not long after, jumping up and down on one of her other bits of paper.
“You girls rock! Give me a cuddle!” He gets kisses too, awww!
Meanwhile, off on Gilligan’s Isle, Nathan is… breaking a stick for some reason. Bob’s inside somewhere. Then they can hear the Commando on a megaphone calling for them. From a boat on the beach. “There’s no motor on the boat, Bob…” Nathan sounds like he knows where this is going.
Commando Steve gets them to don stinger suits and then to hop in the water and pull the boat along the shore from within the water.
Apparently Bob and Nathan have lost a combined total that amounts to the Commando’s body weight. Wow!
Steve’s pushing them pretty hard today and they eventually slow down for a break, but the Commando’s having none of that! Start swimming instead of wading! Crazy!
The Commando is standing up on the bow of the boat and shouting through the megaphone at them throughout. Annoying!
Bob and Nathan are stuffed after pulling the Commando’s boat up onto the shore eventually. Fortunately the session is over. But there’s more to come later, Steve tells us!
Shannan’s got the contestants in the dining room for a chat about carbs and the misconceptions surrounding good carbs and bad carbs.
They know that carbs are fuel, they give energy to the body. There’s high GI and low GI carbs.
High GI carbs give you that energy spike really quick, but then you have a trough.
Low GI carbs give you a nice steady flow of energy for quite a while, tapering off slowly.
Potato doesn’t have many carbs in it but because it’s high in starch, it’s high GI.
Shannan has three bowls of rice – long grain, brown and “bordeau” (?) that you make rissotto out of.
Long grain rice is the best for you, followed by brown, followed by the bordeau due to the starch in it.
Sammy is really pleased that she’s learnt all that because she’ll need it on the outside!
Sammy and Meaghan come strolling downstairs together and hear a knock at the door. They instinctively grab at each other’s hands. GIRLS.
They open the door and there’s a letter on the door mat. They both crack up laughing and Meaghan insists Sammy pick it up because she saw it first!
The letter tells them that someone has to go for The Walk today. And that one contestant will be chosen by the group. And they only have 30 minutes to make the decision.
And they’ll need to choose carefully because whoever has the power will have fundamental power over the game.
Andrew opts out, Sharif says he’s okay with doing it if no one else wants to, because he’s done it before.
Cam says he’d be okay with doing it too, but we’ve never had a girl do it, why not let a girl do it? So Meaghan’s name gets tossed in.
Sharif tells us that he, Andrew and Sean are smart enough to know not to go against the majority.
And the Burgen Wellbeing Quiz for this ad break? “Will eating carbs make me fat?” Oh for fuck’s sake…
For those who don’t instantly know, NO, THEY WILL NOT. Duh.
Unless you eat too many of them. Mmmmm, potatoes.
Michelle tells us it’s about choosing the right carbs at the right time. But doesn’t explain in any greater detail.
The people in the alliance are concerned Meaghan may not come back from The Walk!
Meaghan’s excited to be doing it because she hasn’t before, but nervous because who knows what it could be!
Meaghan, spider, Meaghan, Meaghan, Meaghan, snake, Meaghan, Meaghan, Ajay!
And one of the flowers has escaped an urn!
Ajay congratulates Meaghan on being selected.
Two urns today.
There’s eight contestants at Fat Camp, Ajay says. But by the end of the day there’ll only be seven. Someone is going to be eliminated today. Who stays and who goes will be up to Meaghan. Ouch!
One disk says she has to choose one male contestant to eliminate or eliminate herself.
The other disk says she has to choose one female contestant to eliminate, or eliminate herself.
Meaghan desperately doesn’t want the female disk since that will weaken her alliance.
Meaghan’s got a strong pull towards the urn with white and yellow flowers in it… but she can’t go past the urn filled with pink flowers!
Back at the house, Julie figures there’s too many people left for the number of weeks to go.
Julie tells us that Meaghan will play fair for as long as she can.
Cam’s theory is 8 urns, one name in each. Tiffany seems unimpressed by that idea!
Meaghan finally arrives back in the house. And she’s not looking too happy, Sammy says.
Everyone is shocked when she says that it’s an instant elimination indeed.
Sharif’s hoping it’ll be the disk to send a girl home and thus it’ll blow up in Meaghan’s face.
But, of course, it’s not. She’s got the “eliminate a male” disk.
Andrew says all four men were nervous at that point. Not sure Cam’s really too worried. Or at least he shouldn’t be!
Sharif looks pissed enough for all of them though and says that he guesses the men better get packing!
The girls stay in the lounge while they do that and have a chat. Meaghan admits seeing her Dad and Dez yesterday made her want to go home so bad. “Don’t do that.” – Julie. Meaghan says she couldn’t do that to the girls.
Meaghan admits then that she actually doesn’t mind having the choice because it means she can make the decision in the best interests of the alliance.
The blokes are chatting while they pack.
Sean’s at #1 on the leaderboard, Andrew’s at #3 and Sharif #4. And Cam says he himself was the biggest loser last week.
Sharif’s pretty annoyed at that, privately. He says it’s a bit of an insult to them.
Once Sean and Cam head out, Sharif says to Andrew that Cam knows he’s safe, the gang of five will be making the decision even though it’s technically Meaghan’s alone.
Andrew has a chat with Meaghan. He asks if this is the bit where he pleads his case and Meaghan says yes. But Andrew says he’s actually not going to. He tells us he’s in the best place physically and mentally of all the boys.
Andrew tells Meaghan he’s achieved what he needed to. He no longer needs to be there. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to be there, but he doesn’t need it. Where Sharif, Cam and Sean need it.
Sharif needs to be there. They may not want him there, but he needs it.
Sean doesn’t need to be there physically, but mentally he still needs it.
Andrew doesn’t think there’s much more he can get out of the experience.
Meaghan’s very surprised by Andrew and tells us the decision is now much harder.
Walking into the weigh-in room and Sharif thinks he’ll be the one to go home. Andrew’s not sure if his chat has changed her mind or if it needed changing at all.
Ajay certainly doesn’t need changing, she’s in a lovely purple dress again!
Blah blah, recap of why they’re there. We already know why they’re there!
Ajay asks Meaghan if meeting everyone’s family made her decision harder and Meaghan says it’s actually made it easier because the person she’s sending home has someone lovely to go home to and someone who’s loving the way they look now.
Cam says three to four weeks ago he’d’ve said he was ready to go home but now he’d like to stay because he can see himself getting closer to his goals.
Sean’s feeling very vulnerable since he’s in the number one position plus he’d been eliminated once before for being a threat.
Andrew says he feels he doesn’t need to be there anymore. He still wants to be there, but doesn’t need it. He’s achieved so much and other people standing up there need it more than he does.
Sharif is asked what he thinks will motivate Meaghan’s decision tonight. “What’s in Meaghan’s best interest.” He thinks she’ll eliminate the person she thinks is her longest term threat because she wants to win, apparently.
With that “Nothing” bracelet on her wrist? Er, right…
Meaghan had thought about taking the easy way out and eliminating herself but she couldn’t do that to her Mum.
She couldn’t pick Cam because she couldn’t do it to Sammy.
The person she’s chosen is a big threat and a direct threat to her. The person she’s decided to eliminate is… revealed shortly after this ad break.
The person she’s sending home is… Sharif! Woohoo!
“Told ya!” – Sharif
Nobody looks happy about it. Meaghan says she’s sorry.
Sharif says he never thought he’d be the biggest loser, he’d hoped to make it that far and he’s achieved the goals he’d set for himself. And he gets to go home to his beautiful wife. He claims to have played the game with respect and integrity. He’s maintained his dignity and gained dignity and self respect.
Every kilo he’s lost, he’s gained so much in other areas.
He’s going home not because he didn’t lose weight or work hard. He’s actually a little bit happy about going home because he’s a threat!
Ajay tells him he should be so proud of everything he’s achieved and Sharif says for once in his life, he actually is!
“Mr Miles”, Andrew, gets a handshake and a hug. Sean gets a “brother from another mother” handshake and hug. Meaghan gets a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
Then he leaves to a round of applause. And throwing up the peace signs on his way out of the room, saying “Thankyou!!” Err, kay!
Andrew and Sean are now the only ones left not in the “tight” alliance.
Tiffany says they’re getting less and less people to eliminate that aren’t in the alliance. So it’s going to get tough very soon.
Sharif arrives home to a big gathering in his backyard. And a big jumpy cuddle from Fleur who must have only seen him a couple of days ago, sheesh!
2 months on… crikey, Sharif is looking great! So much thinner. You can tell he’s still got the horrible belly skin, but the rest of his body looks perfectly fine for his height.
And looking back at his audition tape… It’s hard to believe it’s the same guy.
His wife Fleur and he can both fit inside his old jeans now!
Since appearing on the show Sharif has lost 66.1kg. Sweet baby Jebus! He’s got to be a chance at winning the eliminated contestants prize!
Tomorrow night is another spin bike challenge. If their heart rate drops they’re out of the game, though it doesn’t reveal drops below what level.
And on Sunday it’s the first Singles weigh-in and the Yellow Line is back. Fun times, people!
