TBL Australia 4×47: Sharif goes Walkabout… again.
And then this one time, at Fat Camp, the Commando burst into our rooms and dragged us outside for some training in the great outdoors.
Then, this other time, we had to eat fortune cookies to win immunity only there’s just one cookie with immunity in it per bowl and Sharif ate 7 cookies and didn’t find it but then nobody else ate cookies so he got immunity anyway…
Tonight, The Walk!
And Nathan and Cameron and The Commando climb up on top of some rocks. And Nathan roars again.
Michelle and Shannan rock up to the house.
Shannan has a “blue for life” top on and calls the Red Team the “Red Dwarves”. Heh.
Recap of the Temptation.
Nobody is much surprised by Sharif having gone for immunity.
Shannan’s very proud of his team. They’re eating together, training together and not taking Temptation together!
Michelle has no idea what to expect from her team each week after Temptation.
“175 calories? Have you burnt them off?” Sharif says he has.
Sharif is asked why he took immunity and he says because he was feeling vulnerable. Michelle tries to get them to openly admit the alliance and that he’d’ve been voted off last week, but for immunity.
Red’s in disarray, Sharif says. They’ve eliminated their strongest contestant, lost two weigh-ins in a row.
Meaghan says if they have their way, they won’t be facing elimination again and Michelle says that Michelle will make sure of it!
Then Cam recaps his visit from yesterday.
“Margo the.. uh.. my other daughter.” He was so going to say “my attractive daughter”.
Michelle tries to get Cam to open up about how he felt when seeing his wife and daughter. Cam says she said he looked good. Everyone else can say it as much as they like, when his daughter and wife say it, it sinks in then!
Meanwhile Blue head out to the parade ground for a special workout.
“It doesn’t have to be fun to be fun!” Erm. Shannan bringing the sense again.
Yesterday they trained with elite sportsman, today they’ll train with elite…
FIREMEN! Oooooh. They’ve got the flashers going and the siren blaring as they roll up onto the parade ground.
Teresa loves the firemen. And Julie gives Shannan a big hug now her nerves have settled.
Today’s training will be the sort of training the firemen do.
And they’ll have to get kitted out in the proper firefighting gear. Julie says they’re really heavy.
They’re lugging things like generators and standpipes and the jaws of life from one end of the parade ground to the other. The boys are lifting up a ladder rung by rung. Not sure when that would be useful.
Next bit of training, boys versus girls. Running out 60 metres of charged hose – Shannan helpfully tells us that means the hose will be full of water. The idea being to get the hose out in a straight line away from the truck.
Sean and Andrew do quite well at the start but the weight gradually catches up with them.
The girls meanwhile are, of course, struggling too. But they get smart about it and go back down the hose moving it straight along the way.
Ultimately, with a little brain power, the girls manage to beat the boys!
Then they get to turn on a firehose. Awesome! I’m sure there’ll be some complaints about the wasted water.
Andrew seems to really enjoy spraying the hose. So much so that Shannan asks Andrew, who wanted to be a policeman, if he was now considering being a firie. You’re in uniform still, after all. “Oh hell yeah!” Is Andrew’s response. Heh.
Michelle has her team walking blindfolded onto the oval. Sammy’s freaking out. She said it would be fun and the Swans were fun, but will this be fun or just fun for Michelle?
“Fun for her is usually pain for us.” Sharif. Apparently Michelle’s into a bit of S&M.
Today’s training session for Red is a horizontal bungee!
It’s like an inflatable jumping castle that you try and run from one end of but you’re attached by a bit of bungee cable. The challenging bit of the training is that they have to try and put a lump of velcro-clad stuff on the sidewall. Whoever puts one closer to the end, wins!
Sam and Cam go first. Cam gets his further than Sam but then falls over and gets yanked backwards, tumbling back down to the start. Sam is cracking up laughing.
Michelle says it’s a great workout, both for cardio vascular stuff and good for your legs.
Sharif and Meaghan go next and Sharif is determined to get his markers right to the end of the velcro.
Then Sharif and Cam go head to head. Michelle wants to try and get some fight out of Cameron. And she gets her wish as Cam starts to dig in. Michelle says it doesn’t happen very often but when it does, he’s very successful!
“No such word as can’t!” “I can not!” Meaghan and Sammy. They’re both giggling at each other.
Meaghan says they’ve been competing in everything lately and it’s turning into a lot of fun. Sam actually manages to beat Meaghan. She “got her angry face on”, says Michelle.
And now. Sharif won the challenge. And now he’s got to go against Michelle.
Michelle, who can’t possibly weight more than 60kg. And probably closer to 50kg. Versus Sharif’s weight and newfound strength. It’s a huge advantage!
Michelle bit off more than she can chew, she admits to us.
At one point Sharif reaches over the barrier to try and pull Michelle along. “Come on, pull me Rif’y!” She slips out out of his grasp and goes tumbling back down arse over tits, again.
Michelle tells us that when Sharif arrived at Fat Camp he kept his eyes down and was very self concious. Now he stands proud and tall and stands up for himself.
And then as a prize for winning? Michelle jumps on him while he’s flopped on the horizontal bungee.
But then she calls for stacks on! Sammy and Meaghan jump on as well and then Cameron also adds his weight. Glad they’re doing it on an inflatable and not the bare ground!
And now it’s time for The Walk. Sharif’s going for The Walk again. Everyone is concerned over what might happen today.
Yeah, I’m just going to go ahead and not bother recapping a lot of this. Complaints? Talk to Fremantle because I don’t want to hear it! :)
While Sharif is Walking, Michelle has a test for some of the other contestants. A fairly pointed test.
Michelle wants them to create a meal out of the foods on the kitchen bench. Sam says she’s nervous and that’s why she’s looking funny. I think she just realised why Michelle is getting them to do it.
Julie makes an egg white omelette. She says you could add some dijon mustard to it for a bit of flavour. Also a bit of spinach for some salad-y stuff. Plus a bit of wholemeal bread. About 200 calories in the whole meal, she says.
Michelle says her breakfast is perfect. Good protein, good low-GI carbs in the bread and she added some interest with the spinach.
Sammy has to do lunch. She’s had some hiccups in her diet lately and Michelle wants to make sure she’s got it now.
Sam has 103g of chicken which is 110 calories.
A tablespoon of cottage cheese? Sammy has no idea and giggles. Oh dear.
Cam comes to the rescue, saying that it’d be about 25 calories for a quarter cup. Michelle says he’s right.
Cam’s made dinner. Chicken, too. Cooked mushrooms, some onion, tomato, some cottage cheese. Sort of the same meal as Sammy, but Michelle thinks they’re still struggling with calories. It’ll be their saving grace when they leave the house.
Michelle tells them the bottom line for anyone trying to lose weight is that you have to understand food. If you can’t get your head around this, you’ll struggle to lose weight.
Back with Gilligan and the castaways now.
Commando Steve thinks the boys have done an alright job in their first training session, but now it’s time to instill some Commando discipline into the rest of their lives.
Nathan says Commando Steve has no idea about knocking on doors he just came right in and gave them a bollocking for the state of their room. Tis a bit of a mess but not so bad, really.
Steve says he doesn’t want to treat them like children but he will if he has to.
Bob says that being tidy and organised is a part of changing old habits because when they go back home it’ll stop them from backsliding.
And now they have to take Commando Steve’s pet rope for a walk. And it mustn’t touch the ground!
Commando says it’s hard, arduous work. And they finally get to the start of another track which seems to disappear into the clouds, Bob says.
Commando Steve wants them to carry the rope from where they are to the top of the rather large hill behind him.
Steve takes the opportunity to learn a bit about Bob and Nathan on the way up.
Bob says he’s sort of let himself go via looking after everyone else. But he’s got a new lease on life, now.
Bob wants his son to be proud of him.
Up the top of the hill they can put the rope down while they climb up the last couple of rocks.
Nathan manages to get right up the top for his big dramatic roar moment. Bob settles for just near the top where he can put his back against the top rock and relax. Smart man!
Annnnd after another ad break we’re back to following Sharif down the garden path.
On the way, he almost steps on a bearded lizard, who hisses at him!
As Sharif gets to the urns, Ajay is casually walking into position. As if she just happened to wander up at the same time, even though there’s only one path to the lookout…
Lots of chatter about how awesome The Walk is. Of course. Hype it up!
Then some chatter about how the teams are just starting to get comfortable so it’s time for the rug to be pulled from underneath them.
Two vessels. Each one has a disk. Each disk says something different.
One disk says the Red Team has to pick one of their own to swap with Blue.
It doesn’t take a genius to guess the other disk is to have Blue pick one of their own to swap with Red.
Sharif’s hoping whichever disk he chooses results in him being safer in Red.
Sharif’s gut instinct is to go with the right vessel. And talks to us about it some more. As if we really care or it really matters! Just pick one already and go back to Fat Camp.
Sharif gets back and tells everyone what went down. Everyone is suitably horrified!
The disk he picked is… Red Team get to pick one of their own to swap with Blue.
Sharif took the Walk, so Sharif can’t be swapped. I don’t recall Ajay saying that!
But it means Meaghan, Sam or Cam will be swapped for someone on Blue.
Andrew figures Blue may end up getting Cam because he’d be seen as the weakest, though Andrew, for some reason, thinks Cam might get taken due to his weightloss. Erm, ‘kay.
Blue figure they’ll be losing Andrew or Sean, due to their strength and good loss numbers.
Red are mulling over their choices.
Sharif can’t go. Meaghan figures it to be between her and Cameron because while Cam may be the weakest link, Meaghan’s lost the least weight, apparently.
Sammy was thinking of swapping Andrew and Cam at first.
Then they consider taking Tiffany because she’s strong and does good numbers, too.
Finally, it’s time to hear the decision. Julie’s fairly sure she knows the result and is feeling sick at just the thought of it.
Sharif says the person they’ve chosen is strong, they lose weight consistently and they’d be an asset to the team.
Sharif made a unanimous decision, for the first time ever.
Sharif gives Meaghan the new Blue shirt. Blue is boggling. But no, “It’s not my size.” Sammy repeats the line.
And then Cam gets the shirt and it is his size!
“Red is dead!” – Cam
Julie has mixed feelings. She doesn’t need negativity around her. It’s hard enough getting through the day without someone like that around.
Not Julie going Red. Tiffany’s freaking out, thinking they picked her.
But while the shirt would fit her, it’s not her.
“In your dreams, Teresa!” Sharif starts to hand the shirt to Sean but then swaps to Andrew at the last second. So Andrew is now Red and Cam is Blue. And Andrew will be trained by Michelle again!
Tomorrow night, Cam’s got a new colour and it looks like he might have a bit of a spine now too!
Plus it’s the latest Pigs in Mud challenge night tomorrow, yay!
