TBL Australia 4×42: Challenge AND the Fatlympics? Awesome!
Previously on The Biggest Loser Sharif took The Walk and reassigned Tiffany’s Double bracelet to the wrist of Teresa!
Tonight it’s a training session “with a twist” apparently. Blue versus Red in a an old fashioned exercise-off.
Challenge night, too.
Shannan turns up to find his team sitting conveniently on some steps.
They explain what The Walk was about. Each of the Blues show their wrists one by one. Tiffany is second last, showing her now empty wrist.
Then Teresa takes her hand off her wrist and reveals the bracelet.
Shannan asks why she got it and Teresa tries to pass it off as it being because she doesn’t want the money.
Tiffany reveals that the real reason is that Sharif planned on Teresa giving the bracelet to him, should she be eliminated!
Training today is Red versus Blue in a mini Fatlympics!
First event! 1km time trial. With Bob and Cam representing their teams.
They get on the treadmill and they keep going till one or the other hits 1km. They can go as fast or as slow as they like!
Bob heads off at a steady trot while Cameron tries running early on.
Rowing is the second event, Sharif versus Andrew.
Andrew starts out fast but Sharif is instead going for long strokes.
Bob’s in the lead by 50m towards the end of the race. And eventually he wins!
Sharif and Andrew are still pulling away. Sharif is gradually pulling ahead.
Sharif’s very happy about managing to beat Andrew.
Fastest man and fastest female is the next race. Sean and Tiffany representing Blue, Nathan and Meaghan representing Red.
30 second intervals, speed on the treadmill gets bumped each time there’s an interval. Whichever of the girls is still on the treadmill last, wins. Ditto for the men.
Tiffany’s not paying attention to Meaghan at all because she knew Meaghan would be fine. But she doesn’t want to look stupid so she tries her best, despite not being great on the treadmill.
Tiffany freaks out after one of the intervals and squeals as she hops off. Meaghan looks over concerned but then smiles when she sees Tiffany is fine.
Tiffany is adamant she won’t be able to keep going but Shannan talks her around and into one more interval. Tiffany manages to muster up the courage to have one more go.
But doesn’t quite make it. Apparently she was running at 17km/h when she’d never even gone past 12km/h before! She apologises to Shannan but Shannan says she’s got nothing to be sorry for!
Meanwhile the lads are still going. Sean and Nathan are both fairly comfortable so far.
But then Sean’s hamstring starts to tighten up. The more steps he takes the more it tightens up. Poor lad eventually has to jump off in order to save his leg.
Then it’s a benchpressing comp.
Nathan versus Andrew.
Start off with 60kg, just a warmup Andrew says.
100kg is the second weight. 3 clean reps, whoever does the most weight, wins!
Andrew and Nathan both manage to do 100kg.
Then it gets bumped to 110kg. 10kg sure don’t seem like much until it’s on top of a bunch more weight!
Andrew struggles mightily and manages one rep. And a half! But then Shannan has to help him.
Nathan struggles too, but manages to grind out 3 complete reps.
Shannan says Blue got their butts spanked today, but he’s glad they did – Blue are the underdogs again!
Time to head off to Challenge Land!
It’s out on the oval today.
Two utes, full of bags of wheat await them. And two big disks on the ground made out of steel pipes and corrugated iron.
Ajay is there, in a pretty blue dress.
Biggest Loser isn’t just about losing weight, Ajay says, it’s also about learning healthy eating and whatnot.
Today’s challenge will be a pop quiz – Biggest Loser style!
Today’s prize? Well, since Blue have 6 members and Red have 5, whoever wins the Challenge today will get to choose who sits out of the weigh-in on Sunday.
Nathan tells us picking Bob is the obvious strategy if they manage to win because Bob is sure to do good numbers!
It’s a Brain versus Brawn challenge again.
The Brain will be posed a series of questions. The Brain gets selected by each team.
The remaining teammates will be the brawn, who’ll have to hold the disk up off the ground.
If the Brain gets a question wrong, their team gets a 10kg bag of grain dropped on their disk – burgen grain. How convenient!
Blue have to decide who’ll sit out of the challenge for their team, as they have a numerical advantage. They pick Julie.
Meaghan’s happy to see Julie sit out because Julie always freaks out about challenges. But on the other hand, Meaghan doesn’t want Julie getting out of the challenge too easily!
Red figure on having Cameron as their brains (oh dear…) with Sharif and Nathan standing across from each other Meaghan and Sammy might be able to get a bit of a rest while the men hold the weight up.
Teresa is, of course, the brains for Blue.
“We are what colour?” “We are Red!”
Meaghan says the weight of the disk was already hurting her shoulders.
First question:
Which is a fictitious diet?
Beverly Hills Diet
South Sydney Diet
Israeli Army Diet
Cam guesses the Israeli Army Diet which is wrong, of course. The South Sydney Diet was the correct answer.
How much fibre should men consume daily?
A: 20g
B: 30g
C: 40g
Teresa says the basic recommended intake for a male can be between 30 and 40 grams so both answers are correct.
“Teresa, you’ve done your homework. Both B&C are in fact correct.” But nobody likes a know-it-all!
How much wholegrain should be included in an average daily diet for weight loss?
36g
48g
62g
Which Aussie treat contains the least amount of calories?
40g Anzac cookie
30g Lamington
200g slice of pavlova
Cameron guesses the pavlova. Hello? It’s sugar!
Correct answer is actually the lamington.
Which of these breakfasts contains the least amount of calories?
100g muesli
2 slices soy & linseed bread
1 cinnamon apple muffin
Cam guesses the muesli, which is also wrong. It’s the bread.
Cam’s just trying his best, wants to try and get as many right as he can to keep his team in the game.
One cup of sugar contains how many calories?
820 cals
920 cals
1020 cals
Neither answer. So both get a bag!
Correct answer was 920 calories
Organic food is food produced only on a farm?
True or False?
Cameron knew that it can actually be produced anywhere, so it’s false!
How many Australian adults have high cholesterol?
25%
33%
50%
Cameron buzzes in again to guess 50%. Which is correct!
Sammy’s stoked at him actually getting one right!
Which of these is the healthier (snack) option?
Fruit and nut chocolate bar
punnet of strawberries
cheese on toast
Cam guesses the punnet. Which is also correct!
Two more questions and Red will be level pegging again. Sharif figures they can outlast them if it comes down to it.
Sunday night we find out if Red are dead, both at the challenge and at the weigh-in!
