TBL Australia 4×35: The Walk changes the game… forever. Again.
Previously on The Biggest Loser… Bob got to go home!
But only for a day trip, not permanently.
Nathan has immunity, again, after outbidding his own brother!
Tonight, Nathan goes for The Walk and it’ll deliver the biggest shock yet.
They’ve electrified the urns? Awesome!
Michelle and Shannan rock up the Fat Camp yet again. Jogging, of course!
Shannan’s team tells him about Temptation. Lots of, “Right.” From Shannan. And also boggling at the 10,000 calories available for them to bet with.
Shannan’s happy that his team didn’t want any part of it!
And he isn’t at all surprised that Andrew and Nathan took part and he now knows that Nathan is a massive control freak.
Apparently Shannan doesn’t watch the show.
“Bob!” Michelle finally realises Bob’s back. Bob tells her about his trip. “I’ve got a grand new grandson!” “Nooo!?” “And I got to go home and see him.” “NO WAY!”
She’s obviously very happy for him. That happiness will not last!
Michelle’s team had a plan – don’t let Meaghan and Julie get immunity, making them a good chance of being eliminated under the Yellow Line rules.
Michelle looks pleased about them getting immunity for Nathan. Though she tells us that she’s not a fan of Temptations but sometimes to stay in the game, you have to take them.
Shannan’s crew is going to do a bunch more interval training. 20 seconds of as much of a given exercise as you can do, then 10 seconds to catch your breath.
Sharif’s looking very determined today. Shannan tells us the fastest he’s been on the treadmill before was 14km/h, but today he makes it to 17km/h!
Then Shannan’s trying to get Amanda to do the exercises properly. Her first reply is, “I can’t!” But eventually she changes to I can.
Sean gets the treadmill up to 23km/h and Shannan says he hadn’t tried 23km/h himself in a while so he hops up there himself and after a bit of a run he says, “Oooh yeah, you are MOVIN’!”
Michelle’s team has set themselves targets for the weigh in and she’s set them targets for their heart rates.
Cam couldn’t get his heart rate above 130 and now he’s managing to get around 160, consistently!
Michelle tells us their resting heart rates are so much lower. They’re turning into athletes. They may not look it yet, but they’re turning into athletes!
Tiffany’s got Teresa lined up as a target. And she’s way more determined, way stronger and more focused!
Sammy’s targeting Meaghan. Nathan’s after Sean, Andrew’s after Amanda. Amanda’s been sledging the boys, apparently.
Shannan’s then checking up with his peeps to make sure they’re getting in the required nutrition. They’ve been cycling for their food this week, don’t forget.
They had $13.30 to feed everyone one night. All 12 of them. Shannan’s amused but Meaghan tells him it’s not funny!
They had kangaroo again because it’s cheap, high in protein and high in iron. And they got an onion, a garlic, bag of carrots and a cabbage! Not so bad.
How much have they earnt today? Let’s go check!
They’ve done 627km today. Which is $62.
Shannan asks if it makes them more accountable for what they eat and they all say yes. They’re also burning the calories while they’re earning them. It also helps them to shop on a tight budget.
And now it’s time for Nathan to take The Walk. Yawn.
Michelle’s having a chat with the girlies about nutrition today. She has a surprise for them, first. “Is it a nice one?” “Wellll, maybe!”
She takes her hands from behind her back and slaps a kilogram blob of “fat” onto the table. Looks more like ballistics gel to me, but maybe I’ve watched too much Mythbusters.
Michelle says that the foods they’re eating on the inside are very different to what they’d’ve been eating outside and Teresa says if you could drive to a drive through window, she ate it!
Coronary heart disease is the #1 killer of women in Australia and it’s something that can be reversed through healthy diet and exercise.
Julie says so much has been said about breast cancer that she never expected heart disease would be the number one killer.
Osteoporosis affects you more as you get older, but you can combat that too. Calcium will help them immensely. Soy linseed bread has carbs and iron and folate and calcium in it. Your body works better with burgen! But she doesn’t say that…
Sammy had never thought about health issues before coming on the show, she didn’t really understand how badly she’d treated herself. Meaghan’s shocked she ever did it to herself, too.
Tiffany says learning is good but the best bit is that they can change before it’s too late!
Nathan tells us he’s never gone for Temptation to get immunity, he’s done it for The Walk every time. He wants to hold his fate in his hands.
Hi Ajay! Nice dress, Ajay!
Two urns today.
Ajay talks up The Walk some more. Pfft.
Lots of chatter about having support from a partner… but you won’t have that support for much longer!
As of today, they’ll no longer be competing as couples – they’ll be in teams. Two teams. Red and Blue.
BLUE FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!
Nathan says it’s exciting. Indeed!
Nathan’s at the helm of this change, Ajay says.
Well, kinda, yes…
One disk says he has to choose another couple to split and pick the teams.
The other disk says he and his partner (Andrew) will split and choose teams.
He seems stoked by whichever one he picked!
Nathan gets back to the house and tells them the game is going to change. It’s no longer going to be Couples, it’ll be Red versus Blue once more!
Explanation of what the disks were, yada yada yada.
Lots of chatter from the other people hoping for Nathan and Andrew to be split, both to split them and so they wouldn’t have to make the decision!
The disk he’s picked is to choose another couple to split and they’ll pick the teams.
Meaghan looks a little worried. Amanda looks really happy. Not a clue what her problem is.
Julie doesn’t want the responsibility to pick a team!
Nathan and Andrew go for a chat first to bounce some ideas around.
Nathan’s thinking Meaghan and Julie first. Julie will stay true to her colours and pick Sharif or Sean. Then it’ll be Meaghan’s turn, she’ll pick one of the strongest players for Red – ie; him or Andrew. It was implied, not said.
Another alternative is Bob and Tiffany. Bob’s Biggest Loser every week. Tiffany’s up there for the women.
Andrew suggests maybe picking The Odd Couple, hoping to persuade Sean to pick both Andrew and Nathan for his team because Andrew thinks it’s very unlikely Amanda would pick either of them.
Nathan goes for a chat to the “Oddies”.
Nathan puts to them that they’d be a perfect couple to split. And Amanda agrees with him and tells us it’d make sense because they don’t have family or friendship ties.
Sean says he’d like to stay with Shannan for training, as would Amanda.
Amanda says to Nathan that they’ve talked about what he might do. He might pick Bob and Tiff because Bob’s brainy and would pick a balanced team.
Now he goes to chat with Bob and Tiff!
They’re not too sure what to think. Tiffany doesn’t want to think about it. Bob says he doesn’t want to be split because they came into it together and they back each other up.
Nathan asks if they see any advantages to being split. Bob says there’s some but it’s mostly just disadvantages for them.
Julie’s worried she’ll be split from Meaghan or be split from her trainer, Michelle.
Julie tells Nathan that she’d prefer it not be them. “Because?” Julie has to think about it for a moment. Probably to phrase it in a way other than, “Because she’s my daughter you fucking git.”
Meaghan doesn’t want to change colours because she loves her trainer, she loves Shannan. SHE LOOOOOOOOOOVES SHANNAN. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH.
Julie gets a lot of motivation from Meaghan and she’s not sure how she’ll cope.
Nathan says they’re a chance for being split. Julie and Meaghan aren’t too happy to hear that, but kind of expected it.
Cam and Sam are next. Nathan asks them how they are and they say good. Sammy asks him if he likes the power and Nathan says no! Cam says that’s his worry!
Sam’s not too worried because Cam’s only there for her at the moment. If they split he’d have to be there for himself. Might be a good thing.
Sharif and Teresa are prepared to be split. Though Teresa’s never been so nervous about anything in her life! She’s hoping that whoever picks the teams picks good ones. A good combination of strength and weightloss.
Sharif says that Nathan knows he can trust them to be smart about their selections. Teresa then also says she’ll be honest and say she would split Nathan and Andrew.
There’s a red and blue flag flying out on the parade ground and two tables, one pile of red shirts, one pile of blue shirts.
Sam’s hoping Nathan doesn’t pick her and Cam. Most of the couples are thinking much the same thing.
Julie says Meaghan’s the only one she’d ever do the journey with. The thought of splitting makes her heart ache!
Nathan has to choose a couple and choose which colour each of them will be. That couple will then choose who is on the Red Team and who is on the Blue Team.
Nathan says the couple he’s chosen he trusts to make the right decision and make a good decision for themselves.
He’s chosen… Meaghan and Julie.
Meaghan looks pretty accepting. Julie looks stunned, but recovers in short order.
Julie says her and Meaghan are now rivals. They’ll still let you train together, geez!
Nathan also has to pick which colour each will be.
And also who gets to pick a team member first.
Julie’s going to be the first member of the Blue Team. Meaning Meaghan will be a Red now.
Julie says she was angry with Nathan for choosing to split them but she could have kissed him for letting her stay with Shannan. Julie also gets first selection. Meaghan tells her to remember to be smart about it.
Nathan now has to hope it plays out as he’s expecting…
Meaghan’s a little sad about no longer training with Shannan and training with Michelle, probably for the rest of the game? Awww!
Julie’s first choice is… Sean!
Nathan’s happy with that!
Meaghan’s first pick is… Nathan, naturally!
He’s also quite pleased by that.
Julie’s second choice is Andrew! So the brothers are split at last.
Andrew is pretty sure Julie picked him for strategy.
Nathan says it’s unfortunate he couldn’t get Andrew with him but he didn’t really think he could manage it.
Meaghan then picks Sharif. Sharif’s disappointed that Shannan won’t be training him anymore but also honoured to be Meaghan’s second choice.
Julie’s choice is Bob!
Julie, Andrew, sean and Bob are the Blue Team so far. That’s a pretty good team for weightloss right there!
Meaghan picks Amanda. Amanda wanted to be picked by Julie and the surprise must have showed on her face as Meaghan says sorry after picking her.
Yeah, you will be sorry if you ever have to eliminate the whiny cow…
Julie then picks Teresa.
Meaghan picks… Sammy, who looks quite relieved. She was giving dirty looks to Meaghan, saying Meaghan would never hear the end of it if she wasn’t picked by Meaghan!
Julie’s trying to think responsibly. She doesn’t want all three oldies to be on the same team, so she can’t really pick Cam. Instead she picks Tiffany, making Bob and Tiffany be one couple not split, Cam and Sam the other!
Nathan says Cam’s worked his ass off this week so he ought to lose good numbers this week!
Cam and Sam are also both ex-Red and now they’re… still Red!
Meaghan and Julie are both quite happy with their selected teams. And both do inside to be good selections for a variety of reasons…
Amanda’s back to moaning. She’s not entirely happy about her new team. She wanted to be with Shannan and didn’t want to be with the people who eliminated her.
Suck it up, sheesh.
And it’s also now back to Team vs Team at weigh-in and elimination. Whichever team pulls the lower percentage, one of them will have to be eliminated via a team vote.
Also, the Nothing and Double bracelets are seperated between the teams – Meaghan has the Nothing in Red, Tiffany has the Double in Blue.
Tomorrow night the Challenge is not for the faint hearted. It looks like some kind of marathon on a horse track, cool!
“SO CLOSE!” Exclaims Teresa at the weigh-in. I guess that means the weigh-in’s going to be close, then?
