TBL Australia 4×24: What do you call 13 fat people in a pool?
Previously on The Biggest Loser… oh my god did Harold die?! Finally?! Hooray!
Sorry, I keep catching the end of Neighbours so all I ever see is the cliffhangery bits at the end of each episode…
On The Biggest Loser Emazon arrived with much fanfare but her reception by the public seems… mediocre at best.
Meaghan and Julie got a massage. A nice one, not a sports one!
And Sharif and Teresa started to show a bit of a nasty streak. Will it come back to haunt them?
Michelle and Shannan arrive. Jogging, as usual.
They’re wondering what happened with The Walk. Shannan says it can give you power but it also gets your mind off of training.
Then the fatties recap the last episode for Shannan and Michelle. Which I’m sure Shannan and Michelle appreciate, but we don’t really need to see.
Teresa says they gave the “pain” to Holly and Mel because she thinks Holly hasn’t been working as hard as the rest of them.
Shannan sees that it’s made a bit of a fracture in his team. Methinks not everyone thought so highly of Sharif and Teresa’s decision.
Michelle has a novelty sized deck of cards… or is she just that tiny? She’s using the cards to determine the order of their workout today. Each suit represents a different kind of exercise, with Andrew having non-leg type exercises due to his gimpy leg.
Michelle tells us that the boys leaving would make a massive hole in the game, they’re head and shoulders above everyone else in the House.
Bob’s running on the treadmill for the first time ever! Shannan’s also impressed by Cameron’s Can Do attitude today. Cameron manages to run at 10km/h on the treadmill.
And then Holly and Mel finally arrive. Holly asks us if we know that feeling when you walk into a room and it feels like everyone has just stopped talking about you? Awkward!
Mel tells Shannan they just had a snack. “Oh yeah, a dirt sandwich?” They’re pretty grubby.
Holly and Teresa then have to work out with each other and Mel and Sharif. Evil!
The fastest before today that Holly had run was 10km/h. Today she got to 15… and then 16 and then 17 for the last little bit. Holly wants to prove to Sharif and Teresa that she is putting in the effort, even if they’re not seeing her.
Teresa then comes up and tells Holly that’s all she wanted and gives her a hug.
Holly tells us she turned it on for the cameras, but she’s not forgiving or forgetting – she’s still really angry that they did that to her. Ooooh!
Everyone rocks up to a nearby pool that has two conveniently placed beams across it. It’s almost like they knew it was Challenge day!
Sammy thinks they’ll have it in the bag this week because it’s 12 versus 2!
Ajay reminds us all that there’s no Yellow Line this week.
And the losing team in today’s challenge? No gym access, no equipment and no trainer until weigh-in. Ouch!
On their side of the pool is a set of shelves. On the other side is a box full of balloons. Balloons with water in them. Ajay tries to tell us the water balloons weigh 10kg each but they don’t look like they’re 10L balloons…
Each team will have 90mins to get as many balloons across the pool and into the rack will win the challenge.
Andrew has a knee injury and thus won’t be competing in today’s challenge. Meaning it’s just Nathan against all 12 of the other contestants!
If you fall into the pool you’ve got to swim back to the same side you just left and start over.
Sean starts out for the 12. He gets about 6 or 7 paces across. Then sploosh!
Nathan follows not long after!
Holly has a turn and is the first to make it to the halfway point where there’s a slightly wider bit and a support column underneath. Between the edge and the center bits the beam tends to wobble. A lot!
This challenge continues to look more and more dangerous!
Sam has a go but keeps wobbling every time someone calls out encouragement!
Nathan tries running across. “Didn’t work!” Tries going across nice and slow. “Didn’t work!” Tries going across on his hands and feet, no joy there, either!
Julie says Nathan has no fear and goes at it hard all the time.
Cameron has a go but only gets about 4 paces across before taking a header.
Bob doesn’t do much better. Neither of them complains much about the nice cool pool though!
Nathan says to Meaghan, who is having a go now, that “this is how you do it!”
He makes it to the center okay. Then makes it about half the rest of the way before wobbling a little too much and falling off to the side, holding his arm out towards the edge of the pool and landing very awkwardly, giving quite a loud yell of pain afterwards and holding his arm very awkwardly. I was expecting the first injury to be someone falling onto the beam or falling with legs either side of it. I didn’t think the falling into the hard concrete edging of the pool would happen till much later!
Yes, that’s right, they haven’t even put padding at the edge of the pool. None at all. Seems that would have been the very least they could have done for the contestants…
Nathan tells us he ducked under the water on the way back to swear up a storm. Heh.
Meaghan eventually gets a bit past the halfway mark but then takes a header as well.
Nathan’s stripped his shirt and shorts off and is now just in his lycra training pants. He wobbles about 3/4 of the way across but regains his composure and makes it across.
On the way back he falls off the first time but gets to the centre the second time. Andrew’s calling out encouragement from the end, telling him it’s going to wobble and you know it’s going to wobble.
Nathan makes it back to a round of applause from everyone.
Tiffany’s getting a little frustrated though, she says it should be so easy!
Sean manages to make it across for the other team and gets his first balloon. But keeps falling in on the way back. And getting more and more frustrated. But he keeps throwing the balloon off to the side which means he has to chase it each time!
Meaghan thinks he has a lot riding on this week but he’s taking it a little bit too seriously. It’s just a game!
Meanwhile Nathan’s managed to get 3 balloons back on the rack!
Sean’s started yelling very loudly each time he falls off. Holly buries her face in her hands laughing.
Finally he makes it across with the balloon! Everyone’s very happy with him since they at least got one balloon done!
Meaghan’s goal is to just make it to the other side. She takes it slow and steady and finally gets all the way across and gets a big cheer from her teammates.
She clutches the balloon to her chest and tries to edge her way back again. But no joy!
Sharif says it wasn’t about winning anymore it was just about trying to get across and make it.
Meanwhile? Nathan’s up to 10. He’s strolling across with the greatest of ease now.
Time finally runs out and the final score is 10-1!
Everyone congratulates the boys on their win, even though they’re now going to be without Shannan from now until the weigh-in! Nor gym nor equipment.
Ben’s thinking the advantage has well and truly shifted to Nathan and Andrew now.
Holly says Nathan dominates the game so completely that he and his brother and her and Mel could go through the rest of the game together!
Sunday night it’s six versus one in the weigh-in room. And Andrew looks quite concerned when he sees his result! Uh-oh!
