TBL Australia 4×19: Weigh-in night, can Bob make it three in a row?

Previously on The Biggest Loser, Jack and Jill went up a sandy hill… with their own bags of sand for some reason. And their names were actually Nathan and Tiffany.
Tiffany also has the Double bracelet, Holly having lucked out with The Walk being to reassign its owner!

And tonight, Mel and Sharif return from their Commando boot camp.
Bob’s won the last two weigh-ins, can he make it three in a row? Or will someone else finally step up and beat him?

I could tell you now but that would spoil all the fun!

The winner of the Challenge gets a 1kg advantage for themselves and their partner at the next weigh-in. Which is to say Nathan’s going to get a 1kg advantage for him and his brother because Tiffany’s certainly not going to beat him!
Tiffany’s bravely picking up her sandbags though and is giving it a bash!
Nathan’s in front from very early on. And the distance only grows. But Tiffany struggles on with Bob saying he wasn’t expecting her to win, but he was sure she’d do her best!

Reaching about the halfway point Nathan takes the ballsy option of lifting both sandbags onto his shoulders and walked the rest of the way up the hill. Everyone’s very impressed by his show of strength. “That’s a man’s man,” says Cameron.
“Every time I climbed that hill I loved myself a little more.” Nathan. Apparently he can, in fact, love himself more than he already does!

Tiffany’s still struggling but Nathan graciously heads down the hill again to give her a helping hand. She’s hurting, Nathan says, and she reckons she can’t keep going and Nathan tells her he can!
Teresa says Nathan’s starting to realise that sometimes it’s not about playing the game, it’s about doing the right thing!
Tiffany makes it to the top eventually with Nathan’s help. She gives him a big hug after standing around for a bit to catch her breath!

Nathan thinks the challenge could be the turning point of his life. If it’s the turning point of his attitude in the game, it’d be a good start!

Meanwhile Mel and Sharif are still being tortured by Commando Steve.
Mel sees sandbags and tires and logs and knows they’re going to get flogged today!

Mel’s doing fairly well with the log training. Sharif’s struggling. A lot. Steve thinks Sharif is holding back a bit. He wants to show him just how much he can do now.
Mel pleads with Sharif to get it together. Mel keeps carrying more of the weight than Sharif and almost wears the log at one point.
But post-workout Sharif says he started to realise he can do a lot more than he thinks.
Steve has them with a log on their chests doing situps. Mel can’t quite manage it but Sharif can and he helps her up!

Mel says that there’s not many who survive a workout with the Commando but they not only did it, he was proud of them!

Michelle and Shannan rock up for training. Michelle’s hoping her team has kicked butt.
Holly looks quite upset. She’s in a lot of pain. She says she got bowled over in training and it hurts a lot. They’re waiting on MRI results, she may have torn cartilage in her hip which would mean a bunch of rehab and she’d probably have to leave the game. Nooooo!
Tiffany’s sitting right next to her so there’s obviously no animosity there, which is great!

Last chance training! So Michelle’s having none of their excuses about being too sore from the challenge! It’s her last chance to break them!

Shannan’s got his people out in a park area. To do some sprinting! Shannan says it was about showing them how far their bodies have come.
Julie’s not doing so great but pretty much everyone manages to get going at a fair clip – other than Amanda of course who still has a bung shoulder.

Amanda’s a bit down so Shannan has a chat with her while the rest of the team is on a circuit.
Amanda got emotional over the Dream Outfit stuff the other day. So she’d gone back to what she usually does to cope – comfort eat. Which is of course why she’s so huge now.
Shannan can’t believe it and is very upset for her, not at her.
He asks her what she ate and then changes his mind and says he doesn’t want to know, it’ll make him cry.

She answers anyway, “A tablespoon of cottage cheese.” “Are you messing with my head?!” Shannan starts laughing.
Amanda said it symbolised something to her and Shannan insists that it doesn’t! Amanda thinks it meant she was out of control and Shannan laughs again because it’s just a tablespoon of cottage cheese! Doesn’t count as comfort eating.
Shannan says he’s proud of her for being in control. There’s a strange look on Amanda’s face after Shannan starts moving away. Perhaps the cottage cheese is a lie? And there was no spoon?

Michelle has her people doing circuits on the parade ground. Fence jumping, up and down stairs, skipping, situps… Dragging each other across the parade ground on a moving trolley.
Erm, okay.

Bob tries skipping. But skipping is obviously not Bob’s secret skill.

Michelle says they’ve been winning all the challenges and weigh-ins and whatnot. So let’s challenge the other team to a tug-o-war! Hooray!

Want to win a day of training with Michelle and Shannan? Buy some of their icky Burgen bread and enter the comp!

Michelle’s team rocks up to the oval where Shannan’s team are standing around. And Shannan’s team just happens to have a rope laid out and ready.
Nathan steps up and Ben comes out of Shannan’s group and there’s a bit of silly posturing.

Shannan says he and Michelle are best mates, but they’re ultra competitive.
Michelle’s very cocky and Shannan tells his team to remember what he said about getting cocky!

Shannan’s team get organised much better than Michelle’s team with a big HEAVE HEAVE HEAVE chant breaking out. Cameron in the anchor position falls over and gets dragged a bit, followed by Nathan, Andrew and Bob falling over each other.
Shannan has one point but Michelle insists on best two of three!

Michelle’s team have Nathan as the anchor this time, a much better plan.
But they still don’t have anyone calling out heave. So Tiffany steps up to the plate and “goes absolutely ballistic” according to Michelle, screaming at the top of her lungs. Nathan picks tiny Michelle up in the air in celebration.

GAME ON MANNNN! Comes down to a decider.
Shannan’s team gets themselves together again and wins, after a great amount of effort.
Shannan points at Michelle and says, “Don’t ever get cocky dude!”
“It was game over. Damn!” – Michelle

Lots of hugs and handshakes afterwards though which is great to see. Sportsmanship is a wonderful thing!

Everyone heads into the weigh-in room. Holly’s hobbling along in obvious pain. She’s also sad because Mel’s still not back.
Amanda’s struggled really hard all week trying to be The Biggest Loser this week. She’s not stopped at all. So if she falls below the Yellow Line she’ll be devastated!

Bob doesn’t feel much different so he’s not sure how well he’ll go. He may not manage a record 3 turns as Biggest Loser in a row!

Then Ajay pokes and prods at Holly and Teresa, suggesting Sharif and Mel might not even be in the game anymore!
But they can stop worrying, because Mel and Sharif are back!
Holly turns around and sees Mel coming in and starts crying again. Mel’s laughing at her crying again. But Holly’s happy to have her little sister back. And in an aside Mel says she actually missed Holly, which has never happened before!

Sharif says training with the Commando has been one of the toughest in his life. Mel thinks her week has been the toughest at the house. But it’s been very quiet without Holly which gets a giggle out of everyone, Holly included!
But Mel feels so good after all the training, she says.
Tiffany’s sure Mel and Sharif will have done very well.

Holly and Mel get to go first, presumably so Holly can get back to sitting down again.

Holly: 97.5kg (-1.2kg)
Mel: 93.4kg (-2.4kg)
Combined: -3.6kg
Percentage: 1.85%

Not a very good loss. Holly feels she’s let Mel down. But with an injury affecting her in the last couple of days it’s not too surprising.
Sharif is sad for Mel because she put in so much work. Mel is disappointed in her number as well.
Realistically though, neither girl is going to put in big numbers from here on in. They just don’t have the weight to lose that the others do.

But Mel feels like she has a sister again! And actually missing Holly? It’s huge.
Mel’s starting to forgive Holly, Amanda says.

Sharif and Teresa are next up. Sharif’s hopeful they’ll both pull good numbers.
Sharif: 161.2kg (-3.1kg)
Teresa: 101.1kg (-2kg)
Combined: -5.1kg
Percentage: 1.91%

Sharif’s not too happy with his 3.1kg. Mel says they’d both worked extremely hard and it hurts to see such mediocre results.
Meaghan’s very worried because both Mel and Sharif have had so much extra training.

Next up, Nathan and Andrew. They have a 1kg advantage in the weigh-in. Nathan’s hoping they won’t need it at all, but a buffer is good!

Nathan: 127.1 (-3.4kg)
Andrew: 129.5 (-2.5kg)
Combined: -6.9kg (after advantage)
Percentage: 2.63%

They’re both quite happy with that, especially as they’re now in first place and can’t be eliminated as there’s two couples below them!
Andrew’s not been to the beach in years. His kids have only been to the beach once because he doesn’t feel like he’d fit in.
Nathan tells him he’ll be able to go soon. With his budgie smugglers on!

Ben and Sean are next to the gallows.

Ben: 138.2kg (-2.7kg)
Sean: 115.7kg (-4.4kg)
Combined: -7.1kg
Percentage: 2.72%

Ben’s a little disappointed by his 2.7kg. But between them they’ve managed to grab first place!
Sharif and Teresa and Holly and Mel are currently in third and fourth.

Cameron and Sammy need at least 5kg of loss to be safe from elimination.

Cameron: 147.3kg (-3.4kg)
Sammy: 106.5kg (-2.8kg)
Combined: -6.2kg
Percentage: 2.38%

Sammy was worried about getting a plus weight!
It takes Cameron a while to work out if it’s enough. Sammy’s a little confused, asking is it enough? And yes, it is!
Mel’s noticing that her and Holly are slipping ever lower.
Then Ajay becomes scum-of-the-earth again (hahaha!) and asks Cameron if he’s saving his marriage by being there. His wife gave him an ultimatum, “Lose 60 or you WILL lose 60”. His wife weighs 60kg, apparently she’ll leave him if he doesn’t lose 60kg.
He breaks down into tears yet again at the thought of walking out of the house 60kg lighter and back into his wife’s arms.
Apparently it’s not the foregone conclusion he said it was to Michelle!

Next up, the hotness and Julie!

Meaghan: 98.4kg (-1.9kg)
Julie: 110.2kg (-2.4kg)
Combined: -4.3kg
Percentage: 2.02%

Meaghan’s extremely happy with her loss, she wanted to be around the 98.5kg mark and that’s just about perfect so she’s really happy!
Mel and Holly are now right on top of the Yellow Line. One more couple doing better than them will push them under!
With Bob and Tiffany still to weigh in that seems a near certainty at this point!

After the ad break Ajay rubs it in to Holly and Mel. You’re almost below the Line, suckers!

Bob and Tiffany are next. Bob’s sure he can’t possibly be the Biggest Loser for a third week in a row.

Bob: 140.9 (-6.5kg)
Tiffany: 99.5kg (-4.4kg)
Combined: -10.9kg
Percentage: 4.34%

Would you look at that, the 10.9kg on the ads was a combined loss, not a solo loss. Colour me massively surprised!
With a good loss from both of them they’re now in first position.
And Holly and Mel are now in 7th and will be facing elimination tomorrow night, regardless of what happens.

Teresa and Sharif are in 6th with just Amanda and Stewart to weigh in.
Amanda and Stewart need at least 5.4kg between them to stay above Teresa and Sharif.
Cameron thinks Amanda might be the one to knock Bob off!

Amanda: 155.2kg (-0.7kg)
Stewart: 121kg (-2.5kg)
Combined: -3.2kg
Percentage: 1.15%

Amanda is shattered, as are all the other contestants. Some of them are in tears for her. Amanda says it feels like a punishment.
Ajay tries to cheer her up by telling her everyone who’s been through the journey, Ajay herself included, has good weeks and bad weeks. All you can do is pick yourself up and keep going. Amanda says she will!
Then Ajay asks her to recall the first weigh-in when they all asked her to sing a song and she didn’t think she could. Well, Ajay’s going to ask again! Ajay says the power of her voice can lift everyone’s hearts and we’re all in need of that right now. She has that spirit inside of her and that hasn’t gone.
Teresa calls out to her that she’s stronger than this, after Amanda says she can’t, over and over. Teresa says she’s stronger than she thinks!
Amanda finally musters up the courage to start singing the same thing she did before. Her voice cracks a little on a couple of the notes but she gets through it. Everyone gives her a round of applause and Stewart gives her a kiss and a cuddle.

Ajay tells her she IS going to pick herself up and she WILL keep going.
Amanda and Stewart finally get off the podium and Teresa gives Amanda a huge hug.

… and of course that means Bob is the first contestant to ever be the Biggest Loser three weeks in a row!

And now Holly and Mel and Amanda and Stewart will be facing elimination tomorrow night.

Tomorrow night, “Who’s going to want to keep us when these two people need it so bad?” Holly about Stewart and Amanda.
Nathan also reminds Holly that he said they wanted to get her gone! And Nathan’s a man of his word, he tells us…
So it looks like Amanda and Stewart will be going home tomorrow since they’re trying to make us think it’ll be Holly and Mel?

Will the contestants vote with their heads or hearts?
