TBL Australia 4×18: Big fat kids playing in a big fat sand pit!
Most recently on The Biggest Loser Tiffany gets handed the Double bracelet with Holly no longer being the holder of it.
And tonight? Tiffany’s going to go apeshit in training! So I guess it’s working to motivate her quite a lot!
It’s also Challenge night… and it’s those pesky sand dunes again. Standing around being all sandy and steep. How rude of them. Climbing it ought to show it who’s boss!
Shannan and Michelle trot up to Fat Camp again, wondering what the latest twist would be.
Holly’s hiding her wrist as Michelle turns up. She tells Michelle that her bracelet came up. She says to us that it was a burden, even though it was potentially $400,000 for her at the end.
Holly says that Sean and Ben care so much for everyone that that is why they didn’t give it to themselves. Michelle thinks it’s an interesting choice…
Ben and Sean tell Shannan they thought their team was motivated enough so no need to give one of them the gold bracelet. Plus they didn’t want to give someone on their team a target…
Training is outdoors today for Michelle’s team. If it starts to rain, they’re going to keep going!
Holly starts out tackling Tiffany with the tacklepad on. Then it’s Tiffany’s turn to attack Holly and she goes ballistic, smashing into Holly so hard she goes flying backwards and lands on the ground giggling. Tiffany immediately checks she’s okay and helps her up but Holly’s so busy giggling she has a little trouble.
Second tackle, Michelle is backup for Holly to hold her up and they still get shoved backwards by Tiffany!
Shannan has his peeps punching upwards into the gloves of someone standing behind them, for a long time. Very mind over matter, this training technique!
The Challenge, as stated earlier, is a sand dune type affair once more. The sand dune looks even more imposing than previous ones. I guess the location scouts didn’t just find some new digs for the Losers!
The sand dune is 60m high. Ouch.
The winner of the challenge gets a 1kg advantage for them and their partner at the next weigh-in.
Holly and Amanda will not be taking part due to injury. Holly has something wrong with her hip/belly area but the exact nature of the injury isn’t specified – perhaps they don’t want Tiffany feeling bad when she rewatches it!
One member from each of the competing couples will be taking part, not both.
So Meaghan’s taking it because Julie’s not as strong. She doesn’t seem to mind.
Sean’s always had an uphill battle with his weight so it’s very symbolic so he’s taking it.
Nathan and Andrew rock off, again! Nathan gets lucky again… Sort of. Not really. He has to tackle the dunes for the brothers.
Tiffany tries to tell Bob it’s his turn to do a challenge! But ultimately she caves, telling him when he’s a bit fitter it’ll be his turn!
Cameron says he’ll do it. Sammy is shocked. She asks him how often he’ll get up there. He says once an hour and Sammy says she can go faster than that. Cam says it’s not a race and Sammy says, “… it sort of issss…”
Sammy’s proud of him stepping up.
The contestants competing number 7 in all and they’ll be split into two groups. One of four, one of three.
Stewart picks Nathan first up.
Sean picks Meaghan.
Stewart picks Teresa.
Sean picks Tiffany.
Stewart’s left with the booby prize of Cameron!
Each team gets tied together, side by side, a mere metre apart.
Each team races to the top carrying 7.5kg sandbags. The four member team has 16 sandbags. The three member team has 12.
Whoever gets all their bags up there first will win… the first round!
Everyone’s looking pretty grimly up the hill. Nathan declares it the hardest challenge they’ve faced so far.
Ajay has a starter’s pistol, yay!
Cameron’s struggling, even right down the bottom of the hill. But both teams are making slow progress…
Until Cameron’s hurting too much to keep going… and he starts begging them to pull him up the hill. Does he think he weighs less than the sandbags they’re struggling with?!
Sean, Meaghan and Tiffany eventually hit on the idea of throwing the sandbags up the hill to make things a bit easier and it works a treat. They end up thrashing the other team.
Cameron, meanwhile, keeps saying he can’t and Nathan keeps telling him he can!
Cameron says he can’t think about all the other things going on in his outside life. Keeps talking about getting those sandbags up the hill but the reality is everyone is carrying way more of them than him!
Sammy’s surprised he hadn’t given up yet. And eventually he makes it all the way up!
Nathan says his effort was inspirational.
Sean, Meaghan and Tiffany are through to the second round automatically. But the other team gets a second chance.
They each race individually this time, carrying a single sandbag. First to the top gets into the second round!
Teresa figures it’s a two horse race between Stewart and Nathan. Seems a safe bet. With herself bringing up third, I’d say.
I’ll be surprised if Cameron even makes it!
Stewart gets off to a blinder of a start, blitzing past Nathan for about the first half of the hill. But then Nathan just. Keeps. Going. And powers past Stewart.
And as we go to an ad break Nathan is just lobbing his sandbag into the box at the top… but Stewart is right behind him and is winding up his own throw.
Will his sandbag overcome the odds and get there before Nathan’s?
I’m going to go ahead and guess no… but hey, it’s an ad break, I’m sure a physics nerd could work out how hard the bag would have had to be tossed to get there ahead of Nathan’s? Okay go!
Oh, nevermind, the ads are almost over now…
No, of course Nathan’s bag lands first. He was a lot closer and Stewart didn’t throw his bag hard enough.
So Nathan’s into the second round!
But Nathan congratulates Stewart a lot, saying he kept Nathan honest!
Stewart’s proud of himself, too. He may have lost the race but he did well.
Nathan gets partnered with Tiffany, Sean with Meaghan. Each team has to deliver 6 sandbags to the top of the dun.
But this time each sandbag will weigh 15kg. Ouch!
Tiffany and Nathan start out slow and steady, just tromping up the hill slowly and steadily at first, then they revert to the proven tactic of grabbing the bags and giving them a toss when they got too heavy to carry or the incline gets too hard.
“You’re a strong woman! You’re a strong woman!” – Nathan, encouraging Tiffany.
They end up winning quite comfortably. Big hugs and more “STRONG WOMAN!”
Nathan says the Alpha male is standing up the top, dominant again! And the beta male was bringing up the rear, again!
So it’s looking like Tiffany versus Nathan for the final round.
Tiffany’s a lovely girl but come on, the outcome is pretty obvious…
Tiffany’s pleased though since she got right through to the end!
Anyway, find out how much Nathan wins by on Sunday night!
Also, weigh-in night rolls around again… and Mel and Sharif come back in time for it, yay!
… and can Bob make it three Biggest Loser’s in a row?
*shakes magic 8 ball* “Yes. Amputating a leg is the only way for someone to beat him!”
