TBL Australia 4×11: The Walk Part Two and what is Amanda’s secret?
Previously on the Biggest Loser Julie and Meaghan came in last in the big race from Fitzroy Island, earning themselves a 2kg penalty at the next elimination.
Andrew and Nathan have immunity again this week and thus get to go on The Walk for the second week running!
Which they do tonight.
Also, Amanda has some big secret that may spell the end of her journey.
I’m going to go ahead and spoil it for you – it’s not that she’s fat!
Michelle runs up to the new house in a bright yellow top with crossover bits on the… front? Okay, that’s unusual.
Shannan’s his usual black clad self, of course!
The Losers fill in the Trainers on the new house. Shannan thinks that it’s an honour for them to be redefining what Loser is in Australia.
Michelle’s a little upset at Tania and Ramses having been sent home.
But now it’s time for numbers, though they can tell they’ve already lost good numbers.
Lots and lots of gasping at the big numbers for the first week, especially considering their lack of equipment on Fitzroy.
Shannan says Amanda looks lighter and has a look in her eyes, like she’s experiencing life for the first time!
The biggest surprise was Bob. 12.8kg causing Michelle to TOTALLY FREAK OUT! She jumps up and gives him a big squishy hug. Awww!
Michelle says to them that for everyone who thinks they’re too old, the proof is right there.
Michelle asked how the trip home was. Apparently they didn’t know it would be a race! So they were surprised at the craziness that it entailed.
“Ooh, this is cruel, I’m loving it!” – Michelle
Michelle says Andrew and Nathan rock, she’s behind them 100% of the way.
Shannan’s surprised Julie and Meaghan came last. They explain that it was because Julie couldn’t run as fast as the others and she even threw up at the end!
Shannan thinks the 2kg penalty is a little harsh but it just means they’re going to have to work out extra hard.
But now there’s one extra surprise! Michelle and Shannan know of a place they’ve not been yet, but they know it… “intimately”.
Then they rock up into the “real gym”. Which is huge. It’s a “bigger, better, more professional setup” than they’ve ever had in Loser history. And I have to say, I’m very impressed. Heaps of machinery, lots of weights available, very nice.
There also seems to be two weigh in pads up one end so I suspect they’ll be doing the weigh ins there, too.
They’ve got more equipment and more space than they’ve ever had. Sure to be a hit for the tug of war comps in the gym.
Hanging on the walls are big black and white prints of various previous contestants going through their paces.
“Let me tell you, that girl was an ANIMAL!” – Michelle about Munnalita’s crazy-eyed picture.
Michelle points out Fiona. Jeda says Cosi did so well and he deserved it.
Michelle says when they think they’ve got nothing else to give they just need to look at the walls – all those people have been there and they managed to get through it!
Very first training session in the new gym and it’s all in at once. No more excuses, no more complaints about not enough equipment!
They’re all training in pairs. If one person doesn’t finish an exercise then their partner is punished instead.
Mel’s struggling, keeps sitting down while lifting herself up.
Michelle’s surprised because she’s getting a mirror image of what she got from Holly on the first day. Holly, meanwhile, is powering through the exercise.
Michelle sees that the more confidence Holly gets, the less Mel seems to. She’s crumbling!
If Mel doesn’t finish her exercises then Holly has to do 20 pushups! Mel can’t make it, so Holly’s down doing pushups. Girly pushups, but doing them.
Michelle’s yelling at Mel to do the exercise and then Holly screams, “DO IT!!!”
Eventually she pushes through and gets it done!
Shannan has Julie as a project first up. He knows that Julie not being able to run up the hill as fast as everyone else.
Julie’s worried about not being able to keep up with the younger people and Shannan says he’s not going to ask her to, he just wants her to give 100%. You can’t do anymore than that.
Shannan tells her that her family deserves a grandma, he wants to see determination on her face and she can do something about her life!
Julie’s very happy because Shannan gave her the push and the motivation to get through it.
“I’ve got this!” – Julie yells at one point, once she gets past that first pain barrier and starts pushing into the happy zone!
In the middle of the training session a Medic comes in to pull Shannan aside for a chat about Amanda. Shannan grabs Amanda, knowing it won’t be good news.
Amanda bursts into tears almost right away as she knows what’s going on.
Amanda’s got pain in her leg, apparently. She thought the pain was just muscle soreness.
The medic says she has to have a scan for a deep vein thrombosis.
She tells Shannan that she doesn’t want to be weak anymore, she wants to push through it. Shannan says it’s not weakness, you want to push through it and that’s the important bit. But you’ve got to take care of yourself!
But for now, Amanda has to go have scans done.
And she’s the one who gets taken off in the ambulance with the lights flashing. Anti-climax!
Shannan explains that a DVT is a blood clot somewhere in your body. The big concern is if a bit of the clot breaks off and lodges in your lungs, heart or brain – it can be life threatening.
Stewart’s determined to keep going while Amanda’s off getting scanned. He’s going to try and lose enough for both of them!
Cameron’s got a defeatist attitude, Michelle says. It’s not been holding him back just in training, but holding him back for years.
Cameron admits that he might be a bit scared because he’s never worked out like that before. Michelle says Cameron needs to trust her, she won’t let any harm come to him.
She still sees there’s some tension between Cameron and Sammy. Michelle says Cameron needs to be a role model to her. He needs to step up!
Sammy says she learnt her Dad has to work as hard as her and she needs to work as hard as him!
Sammy is feeling awesome at the end of the session. Michelle can see they’re all completely exhausted. Couple of breakdowns but also a couple of breakthroughs!
Shannan has his peeps in a circle but as they’re not Blue Team this year, they can’t use the “BLUE FOR LIFE” thing. So it’s just “FOR LIFE!” Dang.
Michelle’s team is cooking up a storm in the enormous kitchen, She’s very impressed by them all.
“Can I just say, this kitchen ROCKS!” – Michelle
Holly thinks their bodies have gone into shock after having eaten thousands and thousands of calories and going to such a small number and all healthy – but it feels so good!
Michelle has her girls on 1,200 calories and Shannan on about 1,500. Nathan answers that they’re not feeling hungry, they’re actually struggling to hit their calorie limit today!
Michelle’s also told them that it’s 70% diet and 30% exercise, so they’re all watching what they eat very carefully.
Michelle also brought them a present! A spiffy ASUS laptop so they can access The Biggest Loser Online Club. Lets you keep track of calories and so on.
Bob thinks it’s a wonderful tool for anyone serious about losing weight.
Sammy’s the first guinea pig as Michelle runs them through how to use it.
And while this is obviously a big old plug for their online club, it does look really useful since it does all the calculations for calories for you, rather than having to wrack your brain all the time.
Sammy’s had 500 calories leaving room for 700 calories for the afternoon snack and dinner, which is plenty!
I want an ASUS laptop and a Biggest Loser Club membership!
But not enough to spend my own money on them…
Shannan has a chat to Stewart. Amanda’s had a scan and she does have two small clots in her leg. She’s not seen a specialist yet so they’re not sure what will happen yet.
Shannan says that not only is Amanda in a bad medical state, but it could mean they both have to go home.
Stewart’s allowed a phone call to talk to Amanda who is sitting outside on a bench, still in her Loser gear even though she’s staying the night in hospital. Give her something more comfortable, geez!
Amanda says to Stewart that she doesn’t want to go home. She apologises and Stewart says it’s not her fault and Amanda knows but she doesn’t want to be the reason they have to leave. Poor thing. :(
Now it’s time for the horribly contrived Walk from the new house. Come on, we all know they’re not going to walk to wherever the new place is!
Everyone’s hoping it won’t be a horrible thing, worrying about worst case scenarios, etc.
Nathan and Andrew head out the gates and off down the road.
The new Walk has a nice path to it. And is set in an even nicer location – at a scenic lookout!
Ajay’s there too, in a nice, simple, black dress.
And four urns, not just two this time.
And they just showed a bit of recap video of the boys winning the race to Sydney. Including the bit where one of their pants is falling down. Ew!
The Walk leads both of them face to face with double trouble. Um, okay? Just get on with it!
Four vessels, four disks in them. Each disk has two couples names printed on it. When the next vote is held one of the couples will receive a double vote. Double trouble for whoever is facing elimination!
Just noticed that Ajay is standing on a large black box. Poor shortarse!
Nathan and Andrew rock off, but both pick scissors. Then they do some weird thing picking left or right and their Dad’s favourite numbers. Bit weird.
Andrew picks up the disk in the second from the left basin.
And we have to wait till after the ads to find out which disk they got, as usual!
Andrew walks back up to the house, clutching the disk to his belly. Making him look like a Tellytubby.
Everyone’s all nervous about what it is. And they delay it some more.
Holly’s afraid it will be a bad thing. But you can’t tell from her demeanour in the aside. Lighten up lady!
They explain what the disk means.
Sean doesn’t want the power. Mel doesn’t either because she doesn’t want to end anyone’s journey.
Jeda and Jodi are the first names on the disk.
The others are Holly and Mel.
Holly says she doesn’t want it as well, matching her up with sister Mel.
Which means Jodi and Jeda may end up with the power, which I’m sure won’t help the love rumours!
The Brothers Gitt head off to chat Jedi first. They ask them if they’re going to vote off someone from their team or the other team?
They’re worried that the double vote power could make them an enemy for who they vote for.
Andrew and Nathan are also worried about giving it to the Jedi because it might come back to bite the brothers, too.
Jodi thinks that Holly and Mel are gullible and will vote for whoever Andrew and Nathan tells them.
Nathan thinks the girls will be all giggly about it. Have they not met Holly?
Jodi’s hoping that Holly and Mel go below the Yellow Line because she wants them gone.
Jeda thinks Nathan and Andrew are smart and will do the right thing.
Holly tells the boys that if they got the double vote, they’d listen to what the brothers have to say on the vote. Listenings not agreeing though. And Holly’s already a target, so it’s not like people could want you gone any more!
Mel says in an aside that she thinks the brothers might think they’re immature and might be able to be swayed but at the end of the day it’s their decision and no one is going to boss them around!
Nathan and Andrew have a hard choice because they can see positives in giving it to either couple. They think they’ll have the chance to influence things to their advantage either way.
They’re trying to make a political decision to try and keep everyone happy. They tell everyone that they’re not happy with having to make the decision.
Jodi thinks playing the game with the brothers will help them. Apparently forgetting the brothers are only there for themselves.
Holly says in an aside that her and Mel looked at each other and were both hoping they’d not get it.
Sammy’s worried that Jedi will get it, because they’ll use it strategically, where Holly and Mel wouldn’t.
Meaghan’s hoping Jedi get it, not Holly and Mel.
The boys finally announce they’re giving the double vote to… Holly and Mel! Who look shocked and a little horrified.
They explain that they’re trying to strengthen their training team but on the sly Nathan admits that they’re hoping they’ll get to influence the vote.
Holly has a feeling the boys are out to get them since now they’ve given the sisters the Double bracelet of death and now the double vote of death!
Cameron congratulates them on making the decision. Like they had a choice?
Nathan thinks the girls will be a bit naive if they follow along with what the brothers want. But they might not!
Tomorrow night Amanda’s still in hospital, of course. They’re not sure what will happen yet.
And the challenge puts “brains and bodies to the test” out on the parade ground with a bunch of treadmills. Sounds like another trivia challenge where you’ve got to get the answers right or be punished, hooray!
Will we find out what happens to Amanda tomorrow night? Will we get the results of the Challenge tomorrow night?
*shakes magic 8 ball*
Hmmm, all signs point to no…
