TBL Australia 4×07: First competitive weigh-in plus results of the challenge!
Before I begin the recap tonight I just want to extend my condolences to all those affected by the bushfires in Victoria, New South Wales and the flooding in Queensland.
I hope everyone stays safe and conditions improve as we begin the new week. Stay safe, everyone!
Now, down to business…
Previously on The Biggest Loser ten couples headed off to the lovely new resort on Fitzroy Island, teams were chosen, the eggs came before the chicken and the Brothers Gitt have Immunity.
Holly’s got the Double bracelet and Meaghan’s got Nothing.
The “Water Torture” challenge started on Friday night and will continue tonight.
Also tonight, the first competitive weigh-in of the series.
First Ajay recaps the rules of the Challenge for us and we get a quick montage of the various Losers who have already lost… then it’s back to people trudging up and down the beach, filling up buckets.
Jeda’s getting fiery because some of the people on the sidelines are heckling, saying that Jeda must be Andrew’s girlfriend!
Jeda finally gives up the ghost after Andrew dumps another bucket of water in her bucket.
Jeda gets stuck into Cameron after the challenge because he the boys were in love with her. She tells him she’s married and that’s how rumours start. Then there’s a bit of a redub as Jeda obviously has a potty mouth! Pretty sure there was an F-bomb dropped in there.
Meanwhile Nathan and Andrew are laughing it up.
Jodi explains to Jeda that she only stood up for her because she’s her best mate, but she felt stupid defending her. Now they’re a target because people think the boys have their backs. And they’re loudmouthed bitches!
Jodi says she’s had her snap and that that’s the end of it. No more! Because Jeda isn’t just hurting herself, they came as a partnership and it brings Jodi down, too.
Jodi tells Jeda to take Jodi’s tears as a lesson and not do it anymore. And Jeda promises.
Sammy tells Cameron that maybe he shouldn’t say some of the things he says, because some people won’t take it the right way.
Cameron also points out to Sammy that he looked up to see if she needed any balancing out and who was going up there to fill up one of Sammy’s buckets? Jodi! He insists there’s something going on there.
Andrew and Nathan are very well pleased with themselves and their win, they’re there to lose weight and that’s all that matters!
With all the different coloured shirts it’s hard to seperate who’s being trained by whom. That’s a little annoying.
Michelle has her licorice allsorts team out on the lawn to talk about the Challenge before Last Chance Training.
They explain the 3KG advantage. And also explain the blowup between Cameron and Jedi.
Michelle says to us that the last thing Sammy needs is her Dad painting a big target on their backs.
Shannan wants to impress on his team how important Last Chance Training is.
Teresa looks very glum.
Ben and Sean are both going very hard in training. Throwing up a whole bunch of times. Even Shannan was surprised at how often they threw up, but each time they get right back up and get stuck back into it.
Michelle sees that Sammy is upset about the things that went down after the Challenge. Sammy’s in tears during the run up and down the hill.
Michelle wants to try and get to the bottom of why Cameron makes flippant comments that people get upset by. She impresses on Cameron the importance of him keeping his trap shut. He says he’ll never stop because that’s the way he is. Michelle asks if he’ll stop for his little girl.
Cameron tries the defence of it being a competition and you see cricketers sledging and footballers doing it. Michelle says they’re not playing cricket, not playing football. Sammy needs him to play the “game” in a way that gets them through as far as possible. Being a smartass and ruffling feathers isn’t helping.
I don’t think Michelle is convinced she’s got through to him but they need to keep going for Last Chance Training!
Michelle tells them all that the running up and down the hill was just the warmup. Now she wants some sandbags and logs moved up that same hill.
Holly’s still struggling. Michelle says she can go well but she gives up too easy.
Ramses is still bitching and moaning about his sore back.
Michelle is sure they all gave their best but she’s just hoping they’ll all be there when she gets back!
And now it’s weigh-in time again!
And this time the assorted fatties have assorted coloured tops – including the girls crop tops being the appropriate colour!
And guess what, everyone’s nervous.
They’re competing as couples so they’ll weigh-in as couples. The two couples who lose the least weight by percentage will be up for the elimination and all the other couples will be voting to decide who will be sent home.
Holly’s sure that if her and Mel are up for elimination they’ll be going home since everyone wants the gold Double bracelet.
Nathan and Andrew have chosen to pass their 3kg advantage on to… Jodi and Jeda.
Yep, nothing going on there at all! Nice move, Brothers Gitt!
Mel’s shocked that Nathan and Andrew gave the advantage to Jedi since they’re on the opposite team! So there’s talk of alliances already.
First up will be Sean and Ben the bogan team mate men!
Sean: 125kg (-7.5kg)
Ben: 146kg (-7.1kg)
Combined: -14.6kg
Percentage: 5.11%
Sean says it’s been great having his mate there to push him along and push his mate along. They’re living up to their “go hard or go home” slogan, Sean says!
Next up is Amanda and Stewart. Fingers crossed for Amanda.
Amanda: 161.7kg (-8.7kg)
Stewart: 128.7kg (-7.7kg)
Combined: -16.4kg
Percentage: 5.35%
They’re in the lead! Amanda says she’s never lost that much weight before. Then Ajay gets the waterworks started by asking Amanda to say something to her daughter. Awww!
Stewart’s very happy with Amanda’s first week loss and thinks she’ll be in contention well into the comp.
Julie and Meaghan are up now.
Julie: 117kg (-6.4kg)
Meaghan: 103.3kg (-6.3kg)
Combined: -12.7kg
Percentage: 5.45%
Julie’s shocked at how much they’ve both lost, and elated!
Their percentage loss ensures they’re safe. They’re also the first two-girl team and they’ve beaten not only a boy-girl team, they’ve beaten a team with two boys!
Meaghan says she’s proud of her Mum and if she keeps it up, there’s no stopping them!
Meaghan’s happy about losing 6.3kg and she’s already feeling much happier.
Unlike Sammy, whose face falls when her and Cameron are called next.
Cameron: 154.4kg (-9.7kg)
Sammy: 112.8kg (-5.8kg)
Combined: -15.5kg
Percentage: 5.48%
Cameron says Sammy’s “just the best!” Awww!
They’ve now taken the lead over the other parent/child couple and ensured they’re also quite, quite safe!
Jedi give Sammy a congratulatory kiss so I guess that hatchet got buried nice and quick which is good to see.
Teresa and Sharif are next.
Teresa: 107.3kg (-7.7kg)
Sharif: 168.3kg (-10kg)
Combined: -17.7kg
Percentage: 6.03%
And now THEY’RE in the lead! Teresa’s so happy they got sex… uhh, six percent.
Sharif says his wife would be proud. Teary, but proud.
Holly and Mel get their shot next. Be interesting if they do well since they have the gold bracelet!
Holly: 101.9kg (-6.3kg)
Mel: 98.5kg (-3.5kg)
Combined: -9.8kg
Percentage: 4.66%
Holly’s very worried because she doesn’t want to go under the yellow line with the bracelet on her wrist. But after the number came up she was stunned. But for such a light girl she did extremely well, despite her whining!
Holly says their relationship has gotten a bit better. There’s even been a hug or two, voluntarily on Mel’s part!
Ajay asks if the wounds have started healing from Holly being mean to Mel and she said a bit. How much longer? Mel says it’ll probably take about as long as it went on, so about 12-13 years!
Holly’s pretty shattered by that and she says it makes her feel like a bitch and Mel says she was at the time! But then goes over and gives her a big squishy hug.
Tania’s all, “YOUSE GUYS ARE HERE AS A TEAM. YOUSE GOTTA STICK TOGETHER!” They are, dumbass.
Nathan and Andrew are on now.
Nathan: 135.4kg (-9.8kg)
Andrew: 136kg (-8.2kg)
Combined: -18kg
Percentage: 6.22%
They’re in first place, even with their immunity. Good for them!
Nathan says to Andrew, “I’m thinner than you!” Andrew retorts, “No, you just weigh less!”
Holly and Mel are now in the danger zone. Two more couples weigh in better than them and they’ll be below the line.
Jeda and Jodi are grateful for having the 3kg advantage, but hoping they won’t need it.
Jeda: 101.3kg (-4.9kg)
Jodi: 114kg (-7.5kg)
Combined: -12.4kg (-3kg = 15.4kg total)
Percentage: 6.76% (after bonus)
Jodi’s stoked about her loss. Jeda says the look on Jodi’s face was priceless.
Ajay asks the girls how their kids would feel and Jodi says they’d be proud.
Jodi has a picture of her girls but she can’t look at it because it hurts!
Sean and Ben look like stunned mullets up in the peanut gallery. They’re in the danger zone, just above Holly and Mel. If just one couple weighs in better than the girls then they’re definitely under the Yellow Line.
Next couple up is Tania and Ramses whom I am increasingly hoping fail miserably!
Ramses: 129.8kg (-8.1kg)
Tania: 131.5kg (-4.2kg)
Combined: -12.3kg
Percentage: 4.5%
This means they are definitely below the Yellow Line. It only remains to be seen who’ll be there with them.
Tania wants to be there, “heaps!” She can’t believe the things she’s done there. It’s shocked her and her husband.
Last cabs off the rank are Bob and Tiffany. To be safe from elimination they need 13.2kg of combined loss. That ought to be doable as Bob is a big fella in his own right.
Bob: 155kg (-12.8kg)
Tiffany: 106.9kg (-6.7kg)
Combined: -19.5kg
Percentage: 6.93%
To Holly and Mel’s credit they give a hearty cheer and clap and grin, particularly at Bob’s loss.
With a total individual loss of 7.63% Bob is this week’s Biggest Loser, too.
“Looks like there’s some fight in the old dog yet!” Bob says if he can do it then other old folks can do it too and he’d encourage them to do it. He’s not a very inspiring speaker, it must be said.
Unless everyone else is tired of Tania and Ramses’ attitude it looks like Holly and Mel will be heading home already.
If Holly goes, she’ll have to pass the bracelet on to someone else. But will anyone want to be a target this early?
Tomorrow night Tania’s going to try and convince us that her and Ramses are a threat. Quite how we’re supposed to swallow a couple who came DEAD LAST in the first weigh in as a threat? Well, I’m sure the explanation will be a doozy!
What it will come down to is whether they want to get out the likely bigger threat in the fatter couple with a dude included, or get the gold bracelet back out to work out who the next target will be.
The smart choice is obvious – ditch Tania and Ramses now. Holly and Mel are both around the 100kg mark already and their loss will plateau very early. They’ll be back below the Yellow Line very, very regularly. That’s not a knock on them, just past experience from the show.
But what do you guys think will happen? Or are you just going to wait until tomorrow night?
