TBL Australia 4×05: The Walk makes its boring-ass return!

Previously on The Biggest Loser the fatties stood strong… for a while. Then the two little pigs went wee-wee-wee all the way to the lolly jar!

Tonight… The Walk! And it’s going to be the biggest most shocking most oh-my-gawd worthy Walk EVAR!!!
It must be true. Mr Voiceover Man would never lie to me!

Ahhh! Praying Mantis! And ants! Where’re the mudcrabs?!
The brothers are off to The Walk and they’re all nervous and what-not.

Michelle and Shannan rock up to the resort to find out about the Temptation yesterday.
Michelle is very happy when Cameron says there was no way he’d have 2000 calories in a hamburger. They all had Michelle’s punishment in the back of their minds.
They finally dob the boys in and Michelle says she’s okay with it. 80 calories is only about 10 minutes work with her. And in return they’ve got immunity, though she knows they were never going under the line anyway.

Shannan visits his peeps and is very happy that none of them took Temptation… yet. He says it’s a game and there may be times where they’ll need to take Temptation but they’re not at the point where they can deal with bad foods yet, that’s what got them in the situation they’re in now.
Amanda says she’s not there to muck around or play games, so what Shannan had to say was very relevant to her.
Shannan tells them all they did “awesome!”

The brothers are still Walking to The Walk and still rambling on about having the power. One brother also says that it’s left them a bit exposed since now everyone knows they’re “playing the game”.

Michelle says her training session today will be about pushing the blood from their legs to their upper body and then back into their legs!
Michelle reminds them all that they don’t have immunity so they need to be working hard.
She wants them to take all the negative energy of the past and put it into their training session today.

Michelle’s with the two sisters and she turns up the resistance on the bike for Holly to give Mel a bit of a lift.
Michelle can tell there’s still a lot of resentment going on between them and Holly has recognised that Mel’s starting to do things as payback and getting the resistance turned up was just the first thing.

Bob’s struggling riding on the bike because he has sore knees. Michelle thinks he’ll be a slow burner, he’ll very gradually burn off all the fat but he’ll surprise everyone!

Shannan’s got his people out to look at the pretty seascape and tells them that the work is going to be hard but any time they feel it’s getting much too hard they should have a look around at where they are! They’re off the couch and in a wonderful location!
Sharif says they’re all feeling for Sean because he’s having to train on his own at the moment as his couplee, Ben, is still getting medical treatment.
So Shannan’s got Sean, concentrating on him a lot. And Shannan’s very impressed at the way Sean steps up as he obviously knows the future of himself and Ben may rely on how much Sean can lose.
Shannan realises that Sean really needed an extra push this session, both for his own good and to prove to the rest of the team that he’s willing to put in what it takes, with or without Ben.
The entire team end up hopping on a gangplank they use for boats on the jetty, one by one, and Sean manages to push the gangplank up and down the jetty a couple of times. Over a ton of people and he’s managing it!
Sean’s thinking the entire time about his family, especially how proud of him his Dad would be.

Everyone on the plank is very happy with him, as is Shannan. But Sean’s pretty buggered afterwards!
Shannan thinks Sean’s heart and determination are going to ensure he’s a contender in the game.

Shannan tells us that at the end of the day, diet is the most important factor in weight loss. If they’re going to succeed they have to get it right from the start.
With healthy eating and increasing exercise, you can drop weight, he says.
He asks how they’re going with the eggs and the fatties seem… less than enthusiastic!

So Shannan heads off to the rooms and checks out how they’re cooking the eggs to make sure they know what they’re doing. Julie’s cooked up an egg frittata, made from egg whites and vegetables, which Shannan is absolutely stoked by since it’s very healthy food and not boring at all.
Teresa starts rattling off a whole bunch of calorie math about eggs and cottage cheese and so on. Shannan’s extremely impressed, he’s never seen anyone pick it all up so fast so early.
Shannan tells them they’re all cool and he’s going to go relax!

Meanwhile Andrew and Nathan are STILL WALKING.
All the nutritional information is appreciated but this is still taking way too long!

Oh, Ajay! Hiii!
She’s wearing a very nice, simple, black dress. With sleeves!

Ajay reminds us all that they have immunity.

There’s two stone vessels. Which the boys think they’ll have to choose between. Cue apprehension!

But no, Ajay just tells Nathan to reach into the vessel… and he pulls out a shiny “gold” bracelet with two dollar signs on it.
Andrew thinks maybe they might get the chance to cash out now… but no such luck.
The bracelet is “one of the most powerful objects in this year’s Biggest Loser”. If the holder of the bracelet wins The Biggest Loser they will walk away with double the prizemoney. $400,000.
But… Nathan can’t keep it! He has to decide who will get to wear it.

Now Andrew has to reach into the other vessel. It contains a nice dogtag looking steel-ish bracelet. With “Nothing” printed on the dogtag bit. But Andrew doesn’t have to keep it, he has to pass it on to someone else, too.
The cogs are turning in both boy’s minds as to who they should give the bracelets to.

But before they decide there’s something else they need to know. Which Ajay may or may not deign to reveal after the ad break!

Ahh! Praying mantis again!

Ajay tells them they have the power. Nathan knows power is important!

The bracelets will remain in the game right until the very end. If the holder of either bracelet is eliminated then that person gets to decide who will wear the bracelet next.
Cue the beginnings of this season’s manipulations!

Andrew says they’re going to try and use the power to their advantage.

Meanwhile everyone is back at the resort speculating on what it could be. Ramses actually had a nifty, though evil, idea – they could come back and have to pick out a “Black Team” from the existing contestants.
The others guess at the usual suspects like weight or food penalties.

Now we have Andrew and Nathan recapping The Walk for The Fatties. We just saw this!
Nathan shows off his bling-bracelet and explains the significance of it. Everyone is pretty shocked. And intrigued. And surprised.

Then Andrew reveals his Nothing bracelet. And he explains the significance of it, too.
Jodi says it’s sad to think that you could win and get nothing.
Um, you still get your weightloss? Whinging git!

Andrew and Nathan then explain that they have to give the bracelets to someone and if you’re voted out, you’ve got to give the bracelet to someone else.

The boys head off for a chat to try and decide who should get which.

To me, the choice seems obvious. Give both bracelets to one person. Put all the worry on them!
Either that or give the Double bracelet to the male in a team and the nothing to a female. Thus if they make it to the final they get double the money but if they get eliminated then both bracelets can be passed on to another likely couple.

… yes, the ads on Ch10 are far too long. I have time for a whole other bracelet theory if I want!

Andrew and Nathan work out that they need to give the Nothing bracelet to someone who is very unlikely to get voted out and the Double one to someone who is very likely to have to leave to increase the chances of them getting the money back.

Many of the contestants have worked out that getting the Double this early is a virtual death sentence. If two people go under the line and one has the gold bracelet, they’re almost guaranteed to go.
Meaghan says she’d not mind having the Nothing bracelet as she’s not there for the money.

Ramses tells the boys he has an injury, he injured his back very early on and isn’t sure how far into the game he’d make it by himself. But he’s happy to leave with nothing, just the experience, knowledge and health.
I don’t buy it for a second, he wants to avoid getting voted out!

It’s finally time to decide so they’re out on the lawn again. Nobody has much clue who’ll get the bracelets. Though Teresa is hoping it won’t be her!

Andrew says handing out the Nothing bracelet is a heavy burden and if someone stands on the podium and wins nothing, it’s because of him. So it’s going to someone who isn’t there for the money, it’s going to someone who’s there to lose weight and is focused on that.
Andrew walks slowly down the line, looking everyone in the eye. Tania’s freaking out. She doesn’t want the nothing bracelet!
Andrew gets to the end of the line… and heads back up the line and stops in front of Holly… before it blinks away to a bit about the “Second Chance” couples.

There’s ten other couples doing it with dietary and exercise support from The Biggest Loser Club. Much like last season’s fifteen who were sent home on Day One. If they should have lost the most weight at the finale they’ll win $10,000. Pretty nice!

More dawdling by Andrew. He stops at Holly and Mel then takes a step back to give the bracelet to Meaghan. She said she’s not there for the money and she says to him that it’s all good!
Meanwhile Ramses looks shattered.
In an aside Meaghan says that since she’s not there for the money it didn’t really bother her.
Sammy thinks Meaghan got the bracelet to keep her in the game because her and the boys get along well, apparently. Her Mum Julie is a bit teary over it all.

The double bracelet decision was also difficult, they changed their minds a couple of times but in the end the decision came down to it being a motivator to someone to stay in the game and do the best they can.
Nathan goes up and down the row eyeballing everyone to keep them guessing.
Holly’s getting very nervous as Nathan approaches her and then he grabs her hand and puts the bracelet on her. Holly says in an aside that she now knows the boys are out to get her.
Mel gives her a hug as she starts to tear up.

Ramses and Tania look away with their hands on their foreheads.

Andrew reveals seperately that they chose Holly because they figure she won’t be in the game for very long so the double bracelet will be back in the game sooner rather than later.

Julie is standing around on the beach with her daughter Meaghan saying she’d hoped they could get through without being picked on but Meaghan says she doesn’t see it as being picked on, she thinks they did her a favour as now she’ll probably stay around longer.

Mel tries to cheer Holly up by saying imagine if you get to the finale with that! But Holly is convinced she’ll be a target because of it.
Nathan thinks they might have pulled the wool over some eyes. I think pretty much everyone is aware of what you buys are up to.

Tomorrow night’s challenge involves buckets and buckets of water!
One half of each couple has to hold a log with a bucket on either end of it over their shoulders.
It seems anyone can dump water in their buckets though so they can target specific people if they want.

At stake? A 3kg advantage at the first competitive weigh-in. Well, at least they have to earn this one…

And the weigh-in on Sunday has double the people weighing in at once. So that’s doubly exciting… right?
