Biggest Loser Australia 3×48: Bus Pulling Challenge
Tonight on The Biggest Loser the Fatties and the “ex”-Fatties participate in a huge challenge – pulling buses!
Looks like there’ll be two buses, one pairing will pull each bus.

Time for another challenge, Cosi tells us. He and Munnalita head off to the gym for some light training to prepare themselves.
Cosi asks Munnalita what she thinks the challenge is likely to be and Munnalita says since they were talking strength and weight would be an advantage, probably pulling something or lifting something, etc.
Cosi thinks any reward for the challenge would be a big help, Munnalita says she’s been through a lot of challenges on the show so she’s extremely confident.
Cosi knows Munnalita will put in 100% after having trained with her.
Cosi thinks Alison and Damien will be a formidable force.
Alison thinks the Legends have all managed to change their lives, which gives her confidence that what they learn in there will stay with them forever.
Kristie tells Bryce there’s something about challenges that just… “White Line Fever?” Kristie asks and Bryce says yes.
Kristie says she’s won challenges against strong guys so she’s confident they can win.
Bryce says Kristie is a “wicked axe”. Also a good chick, strong as an ox and he wouldn’t’ve picked anyone else.
“So gorgeous boy, how do you think you’re going to go?” – Tracy. Trying to cradlesnatch it seems. She tells him to imagine all the chicks he’ll get!
Cosi says Sam is a young inexperienced male and Tracy knows how to woo a man. Could this be a new couple in the house, he asks with a funny look on his face.
Sam says to have one of the “most experienced” people on his side was great.
Kirsten says she’s really fit and strong and Courtney looks much the same. She’s hoping there’ll be a far bit of running in it because it looks like that’s one of Courtney’s strength.
Garry tells Pati not to worry, whatever the challenge is, they’ll win. Pati says the challenges near the end are crucial, there’s usually a lot riding on them.
Big Wal has Nicola wandering around with weights in their hands on the grounds. He tells Nicola he’ll give it everything he’s got and Nicola says she will too. “Just engrave the trophy right now, I reckon!” – Wal
Adro tells Michelle to make sure she never gives up. If she feels like giving up, give a bit more!
Michelle asks Adro if he won any challenges in the House and he says he won a sprinting challenge where they had to put their weight back on. And in a cheeky aside he says he’s beaten most of these guys once and he’d love to beat them again!
Wal says he’d forgotten how much he enjoys challenges and Pati says she’s always loved them. Damien says he’s a little nervous, but he wants to win!
They stroll up a road and see a long line of witches hats. Adro says the butterflies came back instantly.
They line up in their pairs to chat to Ajay who has beige-y top over a green shirt? Meh.
Kristie says she remembers the day they had to pull a truck down a race track. They were really, really big and it was really, really hard. So she’s a bit worried!
Another pulling challenge it is. And this time it’s tougher than ever before.
Before they had to pull in teams of 5 or so, but this year it will be in teams of 2.
And they will be pulling 9 ton buses! “No way!” – Pati
“Two people move 9 tons? That’s shit!” – Courtney
“Welcome back to The Biggest Loser!” – Munnalita
They have to pull the buses 100m down the straight and across the finish line.
“I’m 107 kilos!” – Bryce while gesturing at the buses. He seems to be under the illusion that Kristie is about 68kg. I suspect there’s an 8 in it, but it’s not the second digit!
There’ll be 4 heats with the winners competing in semi finals, then the winners of that progressing to the grand final.
Tracy says that it was a bit of a spin out to realise they didn’t just have to pull it once, it would be three times in order to win!
And they’re playing for?
The Legends are there to help their partner gain an advantage in the next weigh in. The winner will receive a 2kg weightloss advantage at the next weigh in.
Courtney says it’s a huge advantage, since most people only lose around 2-4kg at this stage.
Wal says Nicola turned to him and said she needs it!
Adro says that Michelle has immunity but Michelle wanted to send Nicola home this week and Adro is more than happy to oblige!
They pull bus tickets from Ajay’s hands to decide what order they’d compete in.
Sam gets the #1 card, meaning he competes against Kristie and Bryce!
Before the challenge starts Tracy gives Sam a hug. Ooh!
The weather is crappy, Sam says, but they weren’t going to let a bit of rain get in the way!
Tracy wants Sam to do well so she says she’s feeling a bit of pressure.
The gun goes off and Bryce says they finally realised how heavy the bus really is. Kristie says she felt the weight of the bus and realised how hard it would be.
Tracy says because she’d done a truck challenge before, she knows the hardest part is getting the darn thing moving.
Kristie says she was pushing as hard as she could, but it didn’t seem to want to move at all!
Sam says he’s aching and it’s painful, but he needs to do this!
As expected, Sam and Tracy gradually creep away from the duo of Bryce and Kristie. Tracy eventually gees Sam up into starting to run and they get up into a slow jog as they pull further and further away.
Kristie apologises to Bryce, in an aside she says she felt like she’d let him down.
Tracy and Sam end up romping home and Sam earns himself a kiss on the cheek. Ooh!
Courtney and Kirsten are up next against Alison and Damien. Courtney figures Damien will cream him, because Damien is huge and strong, but he’s going to have a go anyway!
Alison says her and Kirsten are usually working together as a team, this is the first time they’ve competed against each other.
Alison says it was unbelievably tough to get the bus moving. Courtney says that all of a sudden Damien was like, “Whoooooomph!” And off he went.
Damien says you’ve just got to get a few small steps going to get momentum up, then just keep going.
Courtney and Kirsten are doing it really tough, barely making their bus move at all.
Alison says all she can hear from the end of the track is people saying they’re catching up, but when they stopped at the end to have a look, Kirsten and Courtney are barely off the line at the start.
Damien proves once again why he was so loved in Season 2 by heading down the track. He says that the most important lesson you can learn in the House is that it’s not failure unless you give up. He heads down to encourage Courtney and Kirsten and give them pointers, like lean into it and get it moving.
Kirsten says it was really difficult, you’ve got to get down low and push your legs, but they didn’t give up!
Courtney says it’s important with challenges to view them as a learning and growing tool. If you win, that’s good, if not you learn from your mistakes and move on.
The second last preliminary is Cosi and Munnalita versus Garry and Pati.
Cosi and Munnalita give it “everythink” they have, Munnalita tells us.
Garry and Pati keep their movements in time with each other, gradually building the momentum of their bus and easily pulling away from Cosi and Munnalita.
Garry says it was a great feeling beating Cosi, with him always having been number one in the Red Team.
The last prelim is Adro and Michelle versus Wal and Nicola.
Wal and Nicola have a plan – to go hard! Wal doesn’t want to lose to Adro and Nicola doesn’t want to lose to Michelle.
Cosi says that if Wal loses this, it’s a joke. He’s 3 times Adro’s size and strength.
Adro says he has to prove to them that it doesn’t matter that Wal is twice his size, anything’s possible!
Wal says the gun went bang and your brain went go, but your legs are going no-go!
Adro says the weight of the bus pulling on his harness was phenomenal.
Wal grabs Nicola’s harness and is “just like a Trojan Horse”. Apparently she doesn’t know what a trojan horse is…
Adro and Michelle are a couple of metres behind early on and Adro thinks to himself, “Nup, this is it, come on Adro, let’s do it!” He grabs Michelle and starts pulling.
After the ad break we see… Adro and Michelle continue to lag behind. For a little bit, before they start to pull level. And start pulling ahead! Adro says he imagines himself ripping straight through the harness.
Against all expectations, this was the closest result, with Adro and Michelle edging out Wal and Nicola by a mere matter of metres!
“That’s what winners do!” – Adro
Wal congratulates Adro and says in an aside that he’s not happy about it but he’s a big boy and he thinks he’ll get over it!
Sam and Tracy then face off against Alison and Damien. Ouch, Blue on Blue!
Damien and Alison start out with their small steps approach again, Sam and Tracy lean into it.
Sam and Tracy fall behind a bit but Sam says, “We can catch ’em!”
Damien looks behind but can’t see round the bus so he couldn’t see how far behind they were.
Kristie says she could see some fire in Alison’s eyes – she wanted to win it, and wanted it badly.
Damien and Alison manage to maintain their lead right across the finish line, though Sam and Tracy are not too far behind and finish it fairly easily.
Sam says he wanted the 2kg advantage for himself but to see Alison go through was amazing, too.
Second semifinal is Adro and Michelle versus Garry and Pati.
Wal says Garry is a 747, he’s a Godzilla!
Pati’s pretty confident, thinks she has a big bloke who could eat Adro for breakfast!
Garry and Pati get their bus moving first, but Michelle says one thing she learnt from Adro is that if you have your mind set on something, you can achieve it.
Adro slips over a little bit at one point, but they keep going.
Garry and Pati are in the lead. “We’re coming for you, Garry!” Adro calls out. “Come and get me, Adro!”
Garry and Pati end up winning fairly comfortably.
Leaving the two biggest dudes in the house against two small chicks – Garry and Pati versus Damien and Alison!
And once again we don’t get to find out who wins until Sunday. Though it looks like Damien and Alison are doing well in the preview clips.
Also, Garry looks quite excited at weigh in.
And Bob and Jillian come back, yay!
