Biggest Loser Australia 3×42: Not by the hair on my chinny-chin-chin!

Tonight on The Biggest Loser Cosi’s in tears as he feels like he’s letting down his partner.

And the challenge is chintastic! Chinups by the ton. Or by people who weigh a ton. One of the two.

Would you like to know more?

Red Team is training out on the lawn with big heavy weight ball things, lifting them up one handed.
Michelle says it’s an emotional time at the moment, just having chatted to their loved ones, and they’re under a lot of stress at this point in the game.

Cosi’s the biggest loser in the house so far. He’s got no sporting background and today Michelle sees a man who is trying really hard. But she knows he really misses his family. It’s a mixed bag of emotions for him at the moment.
Cosi’s punching the bag like a man possessed. Michelle says he’s not even fat anymore! And Cosi says he’s getting there and pats his belly.
Cosi says it’s very sad being there, he’s normally a happy person. Being there for two weeks and then finding out his missus is pregnant. It’s made him realise how much he loves her and their kid.
Cosi tells Michelle it’s hard and says he already feels like.. something inaudible to my deaf ears. Someone want to help?
Cosi says it makes him wonder sometimes, it sucks, he feels like a dog, leaving her at home alone. He feels like a sook as the tears start to flow. Michelle asks him if he thinks he’d have this much emotion if he hadn’t gone through this experience and Cosi says no, it makes you love them more, because they’ve backed him in going.

Michelle says her team is learning about their inner strength and they’re going to need it to get to the end.

Blue’s training is about endurance today. A steady grind through the whole session.
Alison says she hasn’t been able to get into her training all week, her body aches! And after having her phone chat, it’s really got her down.
Shannan says Blue has been staunch throughout the game, but now there’s cracks appearing.

Alison says she feels guilty for not being there for her kids. Shannan says she’s not neglecting them, she has a great husband and parents to look after them.
In an aside Alison says it’s hit her hard, she could go two ways at this point in time.

Shannan says he’s not going to shout and scream and yell to get more from them because they don’t have more to give him right now.

Shannan asks Sam how he’s going, is he missing the family. Sam says no, it didn’t bother him. It’s just the other guys, he’s got to keep up with Cosi and Bryce, and he doesn’t think he does.
Shannan and the girls all say that he does.
In an aside Sam says this was the time for him to come in and try to excel at something in his life and he doesn’t think he has yet.
Sam is worried about stepping up for the challenges, he’s not sure he can. Shannan says not to fear the challenges, don’t fear that another bloke will beat you or you’ll let people down. Just get into it and do your best. If they get the better of you, good on em!

Challenge day again!
Michelle says Black Team are happy JJ is gone, but on the other hand he was strong, so challenges may be a little harder.

As they come out of the house they can see some scaffolding set up, with a chin up bar hanging down.

Ajay is there in a pretty hot pink top!
She says a few weeks ago the thought of lifting their own body weight off the ground was impossible. But now they’re a lot stronger, fitter and they’re much lighter!

Today they will be competing in a chin up challenge!

“I’ve never done a chin up! Never! Why would you? Seriously?” – Alison

The chinups will be assisted. Two teammates will be able to help you lift yourself above the bar.
When pulling yourself up, your chin must go above the bar. When going back down your arms must bend beyond 90 degrees. Each team members individual tally will count towards the team’s total.

The winning team will get to choose who has immunity at the next weigh in.
Kirsten says Blue figure on giving the immunity to someone else, possibly Garry to break up the Cosi/Nicola alliance.
Nicola says they’d probably give it to Carrianne, so either Bryce would go, or Michelle, because that would be hilarious because she gave up the $50,000 to stay in the House!

But there’s more to the challenge than meets the eye, Ajay informs us. All will be revealed in due course.

Red is first up.
Cosi goes first, trying to churn out as many as he could because they figured Garry wouldn’t manage many. Because he’s a weak whiny git, but also because he’s really heavy I guess. Cosi doesn’t actually say why.

Cosi says as soon as he got on the bar the pain started right away, hard to support yourself, your hands get sweaty which makes the bar more slippery.
Cosi’s not going high enough on a lot of the pulls, a fact Alison has noticed as well as she comments on it to her teammates. Michelle has an aside to say much the same thing, saying it was frustrating.
At one point Cosi tells them all to shut up and they won’t say anything when they’re doing their’s!

Cosi finds it quite rude, he says. But they have to push on.

Garry’s really struggling to hold Cosi up, while Nicola’s bearing up quite well. Garry eventually lets him fall down.

Nicola’s up next and she powers through a whole bunch as well. Michelle is very impressed by Nicola’s effort.
Cosi and Garry are struggling to hold Nicola up. She gets through quite a few though.

Cosi says the thought of having to lift Garry scared the bejesus out of him!
Garry’s worried he’ll embarass himself. His fears seem quite justified as he’s yet to do even one that will count and is basically just bobbing his head up and down!

“Ahhhhhhh! Nup!” I don’t think he got any done, couldn’t even support his own body weight.

Ajay says some of Cosi’s didn’t count because he needed to get his chin above the bar. 133 he managed, though, which is very impressive. Alison doesn’t think they were all legal though!
Nicola got 127, also very impressive.
And none of Garry’s counted. At all.
Garry’s thinking his position in Red is a bit awkward. He’s being pushed away, Nicola is getting closer to Cosi, and it scares him.

Red’s Total: 260 chinups.

Black is up next. Michelle is confident that Black can win because they’ve done a lot of upper body work with Bob, Jillian and The Commando.

Bryce says the chinups weren’t so hard, the problem was coordination, getting them all working together.
Kirsten says he’s been marked as a big target, a big threat in this game, and it was interesting to see how weak he was.
Carrianne pumps through a lot, impressing Nicola. Carrianne says her arms killed at the end of it!

Michelle figures she could maybe get through 80 or so.
Carrianne says she struggled during Michelle’s attempt because Bryce is so much taller than Carrianne.

Bryce got 27 chinups done, a pathetic amount! Totally schooled by little Nicola!
Carrianne got 101.
Michelle got 10.

Black’s Total: 138 chinups.

Totally whipped by Red. Bryce is annoyed, though he says there’s still the twist.

Blue go with a novel strategy, they go with Alison first, Kirsten second and Sam last. The idea being that Sam would struggle the most with the chinups and the girls would struggle with his attempt due to his weight.

Alison is going fairly well but she starts slipping around too much on the bar. When they let her down they let go a bit too early and she falls a bit too far and hurts her ankle? Knee?

Kirsten’s up next. They try a new technique with Kirsten sitting astride Sam’s shoulders. Cosi says it’s almost comical!
Then we see another angle where Alison is assisting by pushing Kirsten’s bum up. “Not a good look! Wasn’t really that effective either!”

Sam’s last of all. They figure Alison did somewhere around 60-80 chinups. Kirsten did maybe 25-40. So Sam’s a bit worried!
Alison says Sam’s been feeling down, he’s always comparing himself to Cosi and Bryce and with him being the only man left in Blue he feels like he needs to match those two.

Sam struggles mightily but he’s just too heavy for the girls to really hold him up for long.
In an aside he says he was ruined afterwards and it was just a piss weak effort from him.

Alison did 66, Kirsten did 32 and Sam 15.

Blue’s Total: 113 chinups.

Nicola says that Blue’s result showed them up as losers and Red as winners and they felt like they’d proven they’re strong and can win these challenges.

But there’s more to the challenge, Ajay says. That was just the warmup!

Carrianne’s worried they’ll have to do another 100 chinups, which she says would mean it’s over!

Earlier, some took the easier option, Ajay says.
This time they’ll have to extend their arms until they’re straight in between chinups.

“I’m going to die!” – Alison

And the official challenge starts now… On this table! Ajay gestures towards a poker table with lots of chips on it.
Each team has to place a bet on how many assisted chinups they can do to beat the other teams.
Only the side that bids the most gets to have a shot at it.
Sam says he plays a lot of poker on the outside, sometimes up to 6 times a week! You’ve got to do a lot of bluffing and betting in those games and he thinks this is a time he can actually step up.

Blue opens the bidding at a measly 3 chinups.
Sam thinks Black will be very “textbook” in their bidding, so he figures putting down 3 would lead to 4 from Black.
Bryce figures that they only need to up it by 1, because that’s all you need to up it by.
Red goes for 5, naturally.

Blue, or more specifically Sam, ups the ante.
To sixteen!
“Don’t worry, girls!” – Sam

Black take up the challenge and go one higher to 17. And Red go to 18. “That’s a scary raise!” – Sam

Sam says he thinks to himself that they could go to 19, which is still achievable. Or they could throw something crazy out there!
“For the fun of the game, we may as well go. Forty-three!”
Good lord!

“Sam, what’re you doing?” – Kirsten
Bryce says that Alison nearly had a fourth child at that.

Black is asked if they think they can beat 43. They think they can, but they’d like to see Sam try. So would Red.
“Sam, I want to kill you!”

If Blue can complete 43 chinups, they’ll be the winners!
“Good work!” – Sam, while patting the girls on their backs.

Garry says they’re confident they could have done it, but they’re sure Blue won’t achieve 43.

Go Alison!

Sam says it was time to walk the walk, but he’s worried for the sake of Blue.

Next time we find out if Blue can rise to the challenge they set for themselves.

And there’s a lot of talk of Michelle having wasted her time and how she should have taken the $50,000. Guess her loss is going to be underwhelming? Should be fun!
