Biggest Loser Australia 3×41: In which Michelle eats a sammich.

Tonight on The Biggest Loser, JJ is gone!

Hey, wait a minute, wasn’t he gone last night?

Also, Black are training hard with The Commando. But at the beach for a change!

It’s also Challenge night apparently, even though it’s only Thursday. Damn you, Jebus… No, wait, it’s on tomorrow night too. So why is it Challenge night?

Oh, who cares. Read on if you’d like to know what happens this episode!

Shannan is shocked that Michelle turned down the $50,000. Alison says she understand where Michelle is coming from. If she was her age and had the rest of her life ahead of her, she’d’ve done the same.
Shannan says the lessons Michelle learns can literally save her life, prolong it, make it happier and healthier.

Shannan asks about JJ and they tell him he packed his bags and left. Shannan is pretty shocked and says all he can think about is the broken promises JJ made on the first day.
Shannan says that Michelle passed up fifty grand and grown men have cried in disappointment at having to leave, so he’s disappointed that JJ just up and left.

Commando Steve says he’s ecstatic that Michelle decided to stay.
JJ’s out, not in the Black Team any longer.
Steve says it’s great having the three originals that he picked on the first day in front of him and ready to train.

Michelle says she was really motivated in this training session. She’d turned down the money which she thinks shows she’s a strong person. Because turning down $50,000 because you’re too much of a coward to do it on your own is ever so strong, apparently.
Michelle is taken off into the water to do squats into the water with a sandbag held on her chest, which she then has to heave above her head when she gets out of the water.
She says she wants to prove that she’ll do what is asked of her and won’t give up.
She eventually gets to lug Steve out of the water in a fireman’s carry.

Today Michelle and Shannan want to find out what the contestants have learnt about nutrition and calorie counting.
“So we came up with the idea of having the Burgen Bread mini-challenge.” Really? You came up with it? And called it that?
Riiiiiiiight, suuuuure Shannan!

Each team has to make the healthiest, lowest calorie sandwiches from the ingredients provided.
Each team must make one sandwich using two slices of wholemeal and seeds Burgen bread.
They must have 5 ingredients, one of which must be meat or meat substitute.
There’s 12 different ingredients, 50 grams of each.

Each team can only use their own team’s colour from the Warehouse thing. So Red can only use the green foods, Black can only use white food and Blue can only use red food.
The team with the lowest calorie sandwich wins!

And the prize? Shannan and Michelle don’t know what it is, but it’s inside the envelope.
So they made a challenge, called it after the company they’re spokesmen for, and didn’t get to choose the reward? Yep, sure!

Red puts some prawns on their bread, as they’re their main meat.
Black puts chicken on their’s, because as Carrianne says, “who puts tofu on a sandwich?” People trying to win a challenge, that’s who?
Blue put beeeeef on their sandwich first, because Sam says the beef looks a bit leaner than the lamb.

Red put lettuce on their sandwich next, Blue put some red onion on while Black put some cottage cheese on at the suggestion of Carrianne.

Red have tabouli or gherkins left. Cosi is baffled, wonders what tabouli contains. He’s worried it’ll have oil in it, even a teaspoon of oil would shoot the calories very high. He thinks the gherkins usually soak in oil?
Alison’s a little concerned with their choice of tabouli, she thinks it has oil in it.
Black put mushrooms on their’s.
Alison is confident they’ve won over both teams.

Red Team’s first choice of the green prawns was the best choice at 50 calories.
Next choice was lettuce, 7.5 calories. Cucumber, 6 calories. Shallots, 36 calories. Tabouli… 75 calories. Ouch!
Gherkins? 40 calories. If they’d picked that, they’d’ve had the best possible sandwich. Michelle is pleased with them! Sam’s very worried now.

Black chose chicken, with the other options being tofu and canned tuna in spring water. Chicken was the highest calories! Best option was the tofu, which only had 50 calories.
Michelle thought the tofu would be high in calories.
Onions, 21 calories, cottage cheese 45 calories, shallots 36 calories, mushrooms with just 11 calories!
The second best option after the mushrooms would have been the artichoke hearts, which they didn’t choose.

83.5 calories for the roast beef, which Michelle says was perfect.
Sam’s very happy with that.
Tomatoes, 9 calories. Red onion, 21 calories. Red cabbage, 15.5 calories. Red capsicum, 13 calories.

The team with the lowest calorie sandwich wins.
Red: 356.5 calories
Black: 377.5 calories
Blue: 324 calories

Romped home, go Blue!
Alison says she was pretty excited. Even though they were just making sandwiches, it’s good to win!

First prize: A ten minute phone call home.
Blue is stunned. Alison says she was emotional right away.

Shannan says a phone call home now can mean a lot to the contestants.

But they don’t all go home empty handed!
Red in second place, get a 5 minute phone call home.
Black, in third, also get a 5 minute phone call home.

Nicola phones home first. “Hi Mummy!” “Hullo Niccy-noodle!”
A shot flashes up on screen of Nicola and her Mum. Her Mum’s a stick!
Her Mum says she’s brave and courageous, which Nicola appreciates and says she needed to hear it, to give her a boost for the weeks ahead.

Bryce phones his girlfriend next. His girlfriend cries down the phone to him. He tells her he thinks of her every day and she says she thinks of him every minute of every day!

Cosi calls his missus. Says they’ve been together five and a half, six years. His girl is fifteen weeks pregnant today, apparently. Which means they’ve probably not been in the House four months yet.
Probably.

Alison’s next. As she comes into the phone room the plinky piano music starts right away.
Alison gets to chat to her little girls. She wanted to cry right away because she misses them so much but she made sure she didn’t because she didn’t want her girls to hear her so upset.
“When you hear your children’s voices it just tears at your heart!”
Alison says she’s questioning what she’s doing and why she’s there and whether it’s worth being away from them.
But then later she says she refuses to let it get her down, she won’t be away from her babies for no reason. “This is lifechanging!”

And now we get to catch up with some others of the eleven who went home on the first day.
Shannan recalls the other Alison, Alison Hallion.
Started at 124.4kg, and she’s 36 years old. She was the one eating that awesome slab of fried beef with cheese melted all over it.
She’s lost 15.2kg since being punted from the show. She does look quite a bit better for it, too.

Damien’s the one who stepped forward with John, Shannan felt the most sorry for him.
He was 141.9kg at the start, 36 years old as well. He’s an ambulance officer.
He’s managed to lose 8.6kg, despite his work commitments, Shannan said.
He does look a bit lighter but it’s not the huge difference we’ve seen in some of the other eleven homebodies.

Tomorrow night, Cosi’s in crisis. He’s upset about leaving his woman at home, pregnant, he feels like a dog. Poor bugger.

And the Challenge is chinups related! Looks like they have to do as many as they can? And they don’t have crashmats underneath them, which is surely an accident just begging waiting to happen!
