The Biggest Loser Australia Contestant Profiles Now Live!
The official site for the show has finally seen fit to grace us with some meatier contestant profiles.
Age, date of birth, height (for some), occupations, marital status… it’s all there.
If you follow the left hand column down to the box where their profile information is listed you will notice a “more” link underneath that box. If it’s not being obscured by a Burgen bread ad. That “more” link contains a Q&A with each contestant where they reveal their favourite things and answer a bunch of stock questions about what they hope to get out of the show, why they’re fat, what being not fat means to them, etc. Some very interesting responses in there so it’s worth checking them out.
You can find links to the contestants via the Official Biggest Loser Site or you can view their profiles here on the Recap by clicking the names over in the right sidebar. Note that neither site has extended profiles for the contestants who were sent home, only those who have gone into the White House or are now the Black Team have proper profiles at this point. Should the others come back to the game, expect them to have proper profiles too!
Why reproduce all the same information here? Because if or when Season 4 starts it is likely the old contestant data will be purged, as happened to the Season 2 contestants, and all the information will be lost. If at some point I want to compare a Season 3 contestant to someone from Season 2, it’s much easier if I still have the data available. And the same will apply for Season 4.
Plus the Recap site has way fewer ads and I fixed some of the spelling mistakes. ;-)
Instant Eliminations – Do they have a place in The Biggest Loser?
So once again tonight we were treated to an “Instant Elimination” of a contestant through what amounted to a roll of the dice. Kirsten was selected to make this decision through luck of the draw, then she had to select which three would be able to be eliminated and finally had to choose among them which made the most sense to send home.
This, to me, is not what The Biggest Loser is supposed to be about. This sort of thing belongs on shows like Big Brother, where the whole thing is just a game and nobody’s future is riding on the success or failure of their time in the house.
The show is supposed to be about a bunch of regular folks trying to get their lives and their bodies back into shape and come out the other end a healthier, happier person. To unceremoniously dump someone for the sake of adding drama to the show is unnecessary. The show already has enough inbuilt drama with injuries, health scares, challenges, temptations and the regular eliminations.
And more importantly, I thought the public had spoken on the matter of “Instant Eliminations” last season – we don’t like them.
Was I wrong?

Season 3, Episode 4: The First Temptation of The New Fatties
Previously, on The Biggest Loser… pigs in mud!
No, wait. They’ve done away with that footage at last. This time it’s a replay of JJ being a horrible troll to the ladies and a replay of the awesome Black Team things.
Tonight the Black Team faces their first weigh in and the Whites face their first Temptation.
And one of them will walk away with immunity!
