Biggest Loser Australia 3×24: A very Tiresome challenge…

Previously on The Biggest Loser Bob and Jillian’s secret Black Team was finally revealed to the Red and Blue teams, trained by Aussie trainers Michelle and Shannan.
And Cosi, of all people, was revealed as this season’s Biggest Loser so far!

Tonight is challenge night… but first, the White House tries to wrap their head around the existence of the Black Team.
And the challenge itself involves a heck of a lot of tires being carted up a hill. And Ajay tells them that today is elimination day, which means someone will probably be going home…

On Sunday. Because tonight is only a half hour show and they’ll delay it to spite us!

Would you like to find out how right I am?

Red and Blue emerge from the weigh in room. Michelle says there’s a fair bit of people absorbing what took place. They’ve now got another team to be competing against.
Sheridan says Blue looked sick, and frightened.
Sean asks Michelle and Shannan if they knew about it and Michelle says no and Shannan says no way mate.

“If it takes three trainers to do the job of one, they’ve done pretty well, eh?” – Shannan
Shannan says that bringing Bob and Jillian back has made it personal. For them to throw down the challenge that they’re going to wipe the floor with them just fires Shannan up more.

Shannan lays down the law. No more sleeping in, no more missed training sessions, no more mucking around. “We can’t be made to look stupid.” Unless it’s to sell bread! Or Channel 10!

Michelle says they’ve had it easy. All they’ve done is gone to LA on a plane and trained. The White House folks have done the hard yards.
Michelle thinks this is the shot in the arm both teams needed.

The teams split up to discuss it amongst themselves.

Shannan asks John what he thinks and John says competition is good and he reckons he’s at a point where he can step it up.
Michael says the whole thing fired him up. He thought they were very cocky. Replay of Bob saying his wiping the floor bit. Michael’s wondering if he could be fitter. In an aside he says he doesn’t want Black to come in and flog them and make it look like they’ve not been working as hard.
Alison says she’s already the oldest female in the house, by more than 12 years for most and that makes a big difference. And with four more young people coming in, it’s a lot to deal with.
John says it’s more than her age that’s worrying her, since she’s not lost a lot of weight.
Alison says she’s nervous, but bring it on! Shannan tells her that most girls don’t hit their peak till 37 anyway!

Shannan tells his team that Black Team had better look out and Bob and Jillian had better do a bloody good job with them because Blue has been sensational.

Michelle says Black is going to come back and come back hard. They’ve got a lot to prove.
Garry says it’s supposed to be two teams, not three. It’s rubbish. He says it’s their turf, their house, and these people aren’t welcome.
Nicole’s feeling weird. Because she’s happy that Carrianne will be coming, but then it’ll be Red Team. Game on!
Cosi says her twin sister looks fit as a fiddle and imagine being booted out of the show by your sister!
Nicole says her sister is lighter, fitter and strong. She’s scared!
Michelle says Carrianne is strong and will want blood. But Nicole needs to know that she can take Carrianne down.

Michelle wants to use Bryce’s fitness as a spur for Cosi, who is currently the fittest in the House, she says. So Bryce will be gunning for him.
Cosi says it’s a bit weird having everyone telling him he’s dead now and will be booted out for losing so much weight!

Michelle says they need to be ready and never be complacent. They don’t know what Black has been doing and don’t know when they’ll be arriving, but they’ve got to be ready.

Before the challenge both teams are asked to pack their stuff up. Last time they had to pack their bags like this they got pounced on by The Commando. So they’re a bit concerned!
They’re all sure it’s going to be something big and Alison has a feeling maybe someone is going home.

They get to a nearby field with a bunch of flags set up and a whole mess of tires. Two structures at the top of a hill, one red, one blue.

Ajay’s waiting to give them the usual spiel. Wearing a very nice PURPLE shirt today. Suits her!

Their challenge today is to carry tires from the bottom of the hill, 150m up the top of the hill, when they get there they have to throw the tires into a cage.

Sean is worried he’d be in a lot of pain, regardless of what part he took in the challenge.

The first team to put all 100 tires in their cage will win the challenge.
Nicola confesses she’s never even picked up a tire, not even to change it on her car, she calls RACQ or her Dad!

The winning side will receive no prize, instead the team that loses will incur “a dramatic penalty.”
“Today is elimination day.”

Lots of very nervous folks now!

One more thing they need to know. Today’s challenge will be played by just one male and one female from each team.
Sheridan thinks the challenges sounds almost impossible to her. She doesn’t understand how two people could move 100 tires up the hill.

Two familiar faces are there to urge them on. Michelle and Shannan!
Cosi says that Michelle being there is very important to him. She’s like his boss and you always want to impress the boss and thus you work a bit harder.

Ajay tells the trainers about the elimination thingy, neither looks terribly impressed.

Blue and Red each discuss who’ll take part.
Michelle says it’s a challenge that requires brute strength.

Red has picked Cosi and Nicola.
Blue has picked Michael and Kirsten. Their only real options.

A final warning, Ajay says it will be gruelling. Michelle says it looks terrible, even she’d be balking at taking this on.

Shannan runs down the hill with Michael and Kirsten to urge them on. Their strategy is to take their time, conserve strength and hopefully outlast Red.
Shannan tells us that they have a wheelbarrow, a copper log and a length of rope. But they can’t use any of them in conjunction with each other. Blue starts out by putting 4 tires, 2 on each side of the log and has Michael haul it up. Kirsten puts two in the wheelbarrow.

Red tries to use the rope instead, putting about 10 on it and then trying to drag them up the hill… Which doesn’t work at all well. They’ve picked tires of various sizes and they’re all clustering together.
Meanwhile Blue is up the top of the hill and loading tires into the cage already!

Part of the challenge is that the hole in the cage is probably about 9 foot off the ground, so they have to be heaved up there.

Cosi changes strategy and loads up the wheelbarrow, 3 inside the barrow and one on each handle. Michelle is very impressed with how fit Cosi is.
Nicola says she knew Michael and Kirsten were ahead, so they knew it was important to stay calm and focused and keep going slow but steady.
Garry says Blue looked good at the start but Cosi and Nicola kept going and started to catch up.

Kirsten says they’re about halfway through and she’s very tired, it’s a lot tougher than she was expecting.

Red have an interesting strategy, they’re just dumping the tires at the base of the cage, rather than heaving them right away. They’re using their “freshness” to get the tires up the top of the hill ASAP.
Kirsten thinks having the tires already in the cage is an advantage.
Shannan thinks that even though they’re matching tires with Red, Blue has all their tires already in the cage, while Red’s continue to pile up.

About the halfway mark and both teams have adopted similar tactics – girls carrying a tire in each hand and one around their neck. The boys are both using the wheelbarrows.

Red finally start throwing some tires into the hole, Cosi and Nicola working together, Nicola picking a tire up, passing it to Cosi who heaves them through the hole. They’re not talking a lot, Nicole says, but they were working really well together.

The second half gets even tougher. Michael is under immense pressure, Shannan says. In order for Blue to win he has to match Cosi tire for tire, for the second half of the challenge. And Michael’s still about 30kg heavier than Cosi.
Michael’s struggling. He’s finding it harder and harder to toss the tires through the hole.
Shannan looks across and sees Cosi collapse on top of his wheelbarrow. Michelle’s telling him it’s mind over matter, he can freaking beat this team, he can do it!

Cosi says he hit the wall where he just couldn’t go on. Michelle tells him he’s fitter and stronger all day and all night. Oh, really?
Michelle tells him to get up and keep going, right to the top of the hill, no stopping, picture his boy, picture his girl at the top of the hill, keep going!
Cosi says his stakes there have been raised since he found out his partner is pregnant. He doesn’t intend on wasting this opportunity.

Both teams continue bringing tires up the hill. Shannan says Cosi is starting to outpace them and he knows if Michael doesn’t lift his intensity, they’re doomed.

“COME ONNNNNNNNNNN!” Sheridan screams down the hill to Cosi.
Nicole says Cosi and Nicola seem to pick up speed, they got a second wind. Nicole’s confident they have this.

Thinks are looking grim towards the end, Sean says.

Cosi’s jogging down the hill with the barrow, boggles the mind.
Alison is walking alongside Kirsten giving her encouragement. Shannan calls down from the top of the hill that someone will be going home if they don’t win this challenge. And that spurs Kirsten on.

Michelle looks down the hill while following along with Cosi and says there’s way more Blue tires left than Red.
Garry follows Nicola along for a nap and I swear he checks out her arse.
Michelle says something special happened for the Red Team, they came together and she couldn’t ask for more from them.

Kirsten and Michael keep going. Alison is still thinking they’re in with a chance.

Nicola sees that if she takes 3 more to the top there’s only 4 left for Cosi, which gives her a big boost of energy and she powered up the hill.
Michelle says they must only have about 5 minutes to go, Cosi’s coming up the hill with the last tires and Nicole is working on throwing in the rest of their tires. They’re close, so close!
Last lap and Cosi is totally spent, nothing left in the tank. Michelle has to keep reminding him that this is his challenge, he can win. And he rose to the challenge once again!
Cosi picks up the barrow again and starts sprinting to the finish line.
“The man is an animal!” – Michelle
Nicola says the tires went bam bam bam and it was a great feeling. They’re working well as a team.

Red get their last tire in and Cosi gives Nicola a big sweaty squishy hug. Red is now safe from elimination once again.
Michelle gives Nicola a big sloppy kiss and then gives Cosi a whole bunch of big sloppy kisses.

Blue didn’t win, but Shannan says they’re not quitters. Kirsten and Michael keep going. They don’t want to stop till the job is done.
Sean feels terrible for them having to push on and finish.
Kirsten is devastated. She feels that she let the team down. Michael felt guilty too.

Sunday, which Blue will be sent home? Michael says he can’t handle it anymore, enough’s enough. He might be talking about someone whining though, you never know!

And Sunday there’ll also be a weigh in and presumably another elimination on Monday?

And in Americaland… Black say goodbye to Bob and Jillian? Aww man they’re not coming down?
Oh and they get to speed off in a Porsche. JEALOUS.
