Season 3, Episode 13: Week 2 Weigh In. Will Red fight back?
Previously on The Biggest Loser, Blue whooped Red at the weigh in, forcing them to the elimination room, where they chose to get rid of JJ.
Tonight, the fallout from the challenge plus Last Chance training causes a lot of upset faces in the Blue Team.
Will they overcome cracking the sads and win another weigh in?
Find out after the break…
Blue are still stoked about winning the challenge against all the odds.
Blue now have the power to choose who will sit out of tonight’s weigh in, as well as getting letters from home.
Sean points out that even in prison they get to have weekly visits from relatives, but in the White House they don’t get anything!
Alison gets the first letter. As soon as she opens it she cracks up and starts crying.
She says there’s always a part of your heart missing when you’re aware from your family.
Alison’s letter is from her husband. One of her kids has finished his exams, the other is excited to start big school next year and is already itching to try on her uniform.
John’s up next, one of the first things he finds is a picture of his grandson, Caleb.
He gets a short letter saying his grandson can’t write yet, so he sent him his footprints. N’awww!
John says he got really sad, it’s sad not seeing his grandson, but more so not getting to see his daughter.
His daughter was a bit sick in hospital apparently, but she’s doing much better. And they’re all really proud of him for doing The Biggest Loser.
Kirsten is next and she said the letters brought them together as a team, sharing their feelings like that.
Debbie says when you’re used to having everyone around and then not having that and not being able to pick up the phone, it kills you. Her kids wrote her a letter and they were even good enough to get her to say hi to her friends.
Sam says he was doing fine when everyone else was reading their letter, but once he got his own he broke down. Michael tells him to take his time, nothing wrong with missing his family.
Sean’s a single Dad as well. A single Dad of a total hottie! She says that it’s an awesome thing that he’s doing. A turning point in their life.
Michael’s is from his little brother, who says he’s his favourite older brother. Michael says the letter helped him put everything in the House into perspective. He’s there to make himself and his family proud.
After reading all their letters together, Michael says they felt more united and more in touch with each other.
Interestingly, there wasn’t any sign of Blue being given the option to let Red have their letters too. I guess they’ll keep that option for the next time?
Off in Americaland the Black Team is having their second weigh in. Jillian says that Week 2 is notoriously a bad week for Biggest Loser.
Bryce weighs in first. He’s hoping this week will be as awesome as last.
Bryce lost: 2.8kg
He’s pissed off. The effort and quality of his workouts in the last week were 3 times what they were in his first week.
Michelle is really nervous and can’t even look Jillian in the eyes.
Michelle lost: 1.5kg
Jillian tells her they have the time to improve it, but she’s got to want it.
Steven is up next. Jillian says he should be losing 5kg.
Steven lost: 3.2kg
Steven says it’s more than Bryce but he was expecting more.
Carrianne isn’t feeling very confident.
Carrianne lost: 1.2kg
She says it was very discouraging to see all the low numbers.
Jillian asks Carrianne if she’d done all her food diaries, all her homework assignments. And Carrianne says yes. And Jillian says that all it is is that it’s what happens in Week 2.
Bryce says he’s over the weigh in number. It’s all about next week now.
Michelle says Bryce is the strongest in the house, he’s the one who keeps them all motivated.
Jillian tells Michelle that one of the boxing mitts is Michelle and Shannan, who had told her, “I guess your journey’s over? Good luck, but it won’t be here?”
Michelle says it was fun imagining their faces and punching away.
Jillian says the best thing she could say about Steven this week was that he didn’t quit. He thought about it and almost did, but he never did.
Steven’s missing his little girl. Jillian says some days he does great, other days he’s a train wreck. She can’t have him having bad days much longer. She wants him to get it together, but not at the expense of the rest of the team.
Jillian says they don’t know when they’re going back to Australia, but her and Bob will make sure they’re ready.
Michelle rocks up to the White House. “Alone, again!” Awww, she misses Shannan too!
Michelle tells Red that Last Chance is about getting as many calories as they can out of their body. In an aside she says that Red Team has been kicked in the teeth this week.
Nicola, what does Last Chance mean? “A near death experience!” Michelle says in an aside that her strategy is that if you don’t die, you didn’t try hard enough!
I’m sure that’s going to go down well on the forums!
Michelle wants them all to use their anger to fuel their workout and win the weigh in.
Blue is out on the lawn for their Last Chance training. Debbie’s leading them in their training again.
“Debbie’s a lovely woman… but as a trainer? No.” – John
Debbie says she doesn’t feel any pressure from the team to fill Shannan’s shoes, she just feels pressure from herself.
John thinks Debbie was a little bit disorganised, didn’t really seem to know what she was doing.
They start out with a circuit. Michael thinks the 30 seconds at each station was way too little.
John heads off for his walking, but the team is not really doing much hard work.
Alison thinks there were a few people who would have worked harder if Shannan was there.
Debbie tries to harden up on people, but most of the team seems to resent it.
John says that Debbie’s not a good trainer. To be a good trainer you need to be able to do anything you ask your people to do. John’s doing his laps of walking, Debbie trailing along behind. Then Debbie gives up and John says, “Oh, you’re soft.”
In the end they did about an hour of training, which John felt wasn’t enough. So he went off to do more on his own.
Michelle does the right thing and goes out to check on Blue during their Last Chance training because, as she says, Shannan’s her friend, and she respects him, and she’s sure he’d do the same for her.
She heads outside and sees none of the Blues. “Shannan is gunna flip.”
Michael and John are outside chatting. John is complaining about the training, it’s upset and frustrated him.
Debbie pokes her head outdoors and sees the two of them chatting and put two and two together and figured they were talking about her.
She comes over to ask them if there was a problem with her and John says yes, actually.
Debbie in a side bit says she felt stabbed in the back because they didn’t come to her to discuss it.
John tells her she’s supposed to be out there training them. Debbie says she didn’t choose to have that position. John says she didn’t choose it but she’s got to use it.
Debbie says she’s untrained, so what was she supposed to do? John suggests she could have asked for advice and Debbie claims she did and no one said anything.
John tells her what he thinks and he says in an aside that if she wants to go away and have a cry again, so be it. And that’s what she’s done.
Michelle finds Blue in the small gym. She finds Debbie and asks what’s going on. Debbie says she was copping shit from John because he didn’t feel like it was a full training session. She says she did what she could, she ran a little bit, she did intervals all weekend, she’s not supposed to run.
Then Michelle gives her a hug and tries to calm her down.
Michelle says it really doesn’t look good, it looks like they’re falling apart.
Sam says that Debbie’s performance as a trainer could really affect the numbers in the weigh in and send them to the elimination room.
Debbie’s a bit scared in the morning of the weigh in day, she thinks it’s going to be really close because the Red Team have trained really hard.
Nicole is confident that since they have a trainer and they’ve worked hard, it will pay off.
Sean enters the weigh in room and says there’s something different – there’s massive posters of their massive bodies hanging from all the walls.
Ajay is wearing an okay black dress with a beige-y belt that really does nothing for her.
And then we get a shot of Rachel, who has shaved her hair into a very manly mohawk. It’s not a good look.
Ajay reminds them all that Blue won the last weigh in and won the challenge, so they get to choose who will sit out of the weigh in.
Alison will sit out, she got a large number last week and the group decided she might not get so great a result this week.
Alison’s previous weight: 114.9kg
Alison’s current weight: 112.3kg
Alison’s loss: 2.6kg
Not bad for a second week loss. She’s horrified, she reveals. Ajay asks her if she thinks the team made the right choice in sitting her out and she says that yes, 2.6kg is a small loss and they’ve made the right choice.
She says she’d worked hard all week so she’s now worried what Blue will have done.
Sam’s the first Blue to count toward the tally. He doesn’t want to be the one to let down the team!
Sam’s previous weight: 143.7kg
Sam’s current weight: 136.7kg
Sam’s loss: 7kg
Very impressive Sam!
Sam says that since he left school he’s not weighed that little. He’s happy that he knows that he can do it, he thought it would be something that would happen in five years time or he’ll do it next year. He needs to stay motivated and then anything is possible.
John’s next. This is going to be very interesting.
John says the competitor in him is coming out. He’s got so much of his life to live and he’s going to live it.
John’s starting weight: 139.7kg
John’s current weight: 133.2kg
John’s loss: 6.5kg
Wow, very impressive. Michael’s surprised, it’s a great result, especially for someone who’s only walking.
Ajay asks him how morale is. He says he’d had a bit of a tiff with Debbie yesterday, but he stood up at the end of the day and apologised, gave her a big kiss, wrote a little note in her card. He would never intentionally hurt her, or anybody. But there’s going to be days when the frustrations would come through.
Debbie says they’re a team who believe that if there’s a problem it needs to be talked about, gotten off the chest and then move on.
Next is Kirsten.
Kirsten’s starting weight: 120.8kg
Kirsten’s current weight: 116kg
Kirsten’s loss: 4.8kg
Pretty darn good. Sheridan doesn’t know how Blue is continuously pulling big numbers, she doesn’t know how or why but she knows it sucks!
Kirsten says she’s been enjoying the training. Ajay asks her if she’s finding the confidence to get back in the water and play some water polo again.
Kirsten says that she’s feeling her old self coming back. Being able to train again and learning that it’s all still there, it hasn’t gone away, it’s just been dormant a while.
Michael’s next.
Michael’s starting weight: 167.1kg
Michael’s current weight: 160.5kg
Michael’s loss: 6.6kg
Not bad, not bad. Blue is happy. He says he’s a little bit stoked. Ajay asks him if he’s proud. Michael says it’s still hard to be proud of himself when he’s weighing “one hundred and sixty kegs”. He says there’s people in Australia that have got nothing, but he’s got a good family, roof over his head, good friends. For him to have all these privileges and not live the way he should it’s wrong, it’s disgusting, it’s an insult to them. He’s selling himself short and he’s selling them short and he doesn’t want to do that anymore.
Only Debbie and Sean remain. Oh dear.
Michael whispers to Sam that he doesn’t think they’ve lost enough so far.
Sean’s next. Sean has a personal reason for wanting to lose a certain number this week. He was dedicating his efforts to his brother. He wants to lose 8kg, it’s the anniversary of his brother’s death.
Sean’s starting weight: 162kg
Sean’s current weight: 155.7kg
Sean’s loss: 6.3kg
Not quite, Sean-y! Ajay brings up his brother and asks how close he thinks he was to going down the same path. He doesn’t think he’s too far behind him. Ajay asks if that’s who it does it for and Sean says that this week, yep. Ajay tells him his brother would be proud of him, he’s saving his life.
Michael says he really felt for Sean getting up there and talking about his brother.
Debbie’s last. Ajay recaps Debbie’s crazy week, leading her team in training, leading them to win the challenge. And today it’s her birthday! She’s 40. She said her goal was to still be there for her birthday.
Debbie’s starting weight: 129.5kg
Debbie’s current weight: 125.4kg
Debbie’s loss: 4.1kg
Debbie says she’s happy with that. Sam calls out that that’s awesome. “Just because I cry, doesn’t mean I’m weak!”
Her team woke her up that morning with flowers and a birthday card (I guess that’s the card John wrote in).
Blue team’s total: 35.3kg
Percentage: 4.09%
Not too shabby. Will it be enough? Should be a lot closer than last week!
Sam’s not confident, thinks Red might pull some massive numbers.
Ajay reminds Red that they’ve had a trainer all week, while Blue haven’t. How much of an impact will that have?
They’ll need to have lost a total of 33.4kg to win the weigh in.
Garry’s first cab off the rank.
Cosi chose him because he’s got a lot of weight to lose!
Garry’s starting weight: 197.5kg
Garry’s current weight: 191.7kg
Garry’s loss: 5.8kg
It’s a decent number, but he could have lost a lot more given his size. Ajay asks him what the secret of his success has been, but Garry says he wouldn’t call it a success. He’s a bit disappointed.
Garry says it’s been a hard week, especially not getting to talk to his Dad.
Rachel’s up next.
Rachel’s starting weight: 131.7kg
Rachel’s current weight: 128kg
Rachel’s loss: 3.7kg
Sheridan says that Rachel’s effort was okay, but since she had such a low number last week she was hoping for a larger one. Rachel says she’s happy because she knows she worked really hard, pushing herself really hard and getting through things without quitting. Sheridan’s noticed she’s more focused, but maybe not as focused as she needs to be.
They need another 23.9kg to avoid elimination.
Nicola’s next.
Nicola’s starting weight: 108.6kg
Nicola’s current weight: 105.4kg
Nicola’s loss: 3.2kg
Pretty good, not far behind Rachel. Ajay congratulates her and says it’s a good result. Nicola says not really, but thank you. Ajay asks her why she’s so hard on herself and Nicola says she worked three times harder this week and to get less is disappointing. On the outside this is the point where she would have given up.
Nicole hopes she won’t give up because she’s quite strong. Nicola says to Ajay that she won’t give up, but if she was on the outside she might.
Red still need another 20.7kg to win the weigh in.
Alison says she’d seen how hard the three remaining had been working all week and she really thought they were going to pull it off.
Ajay reminds Sheridan that in Temptation she made a gluttonous pig of herself, but as a result, she has immunity, so even if Red lose the weigh in, she’s quite safe and can’t be sent home. No mention of immunity going away if she gained weight. Damn.
Sheridan’s starting weight: 115.4kg
Sheridan’s current weight: 112.7kg
Sheridan’s loss: 2.7kg
She’s visibly ticked off. She says she’s watched what she’s been eating, worked really hard, but she still has a pathetic outcome. She doesn’t know how she can be proud of that. Ajay asks her if she would have lost more without Temptation? And she says if you’re talking about calories then no. She did an hour of nasty workout with Michelle, then another five and a half hours on the treadmill. The calories should have been gone, so she’s pretty pissed.
“We all worked so hard, what’s the point?”
“We’re not doing so good up here and it’s not for lack of trying, that’s for damn sure.”
Ajay reminds Sheridan that it’s not over yet. Everyone tells her well done and she just shakes her head and says, “Save it!”
They still need 18kg. That’s going to be a stretch with just Nicole and Cosi.
Nicole’s starting weight: 131.1kg
Nicole’s current weight: 130.2kg
Nicole’s loss: 0.9kg
Pathetic. Garry wonders what’s going on, maybe she’s getting up in the middle of the night and eating pies out of the microwave.
She says she feels like she let the team down. Rachel calls out that she hasn’t let them down. Nicole says that not even losing a kilo is everyone’s worst nightmare. Everyone worked really hard but their weights haven’t shown it.
Rachel says Nicole’s attitude changed this week. She’s not been as tough on herself. She’s still been tough on Rachel, just not tough on herself.
Ajay asks her if she feels vulnerable and Nicole does feel vulnerable, after all she couldn’t even lose a kilo!
Cosi will have to lose a massive 17.1kg. That seems. Unlikely.
“I’m quietly confident!” – Cosi
Cosi’s starting weight: 131.3kg
Cosi’s current weight: 129.4kg
Cosi’s loss: 1.9kg
Cosi figures they’re not doing something right. I think it’s probably their tinned food diet. Hopefully this will convince them not to screw with the contestants so badly next week?
Cosi says they’re going to have to have a red hot go at it this week after they’ve lost another member. He’s starting to think Blue might keep going till there’s only one Red left.
In order to win Red needed 33.4kg and they only managed 18.2kg. Not quite as bad a drubbing as last week at least!
Red’s total loss: 18.2kg
Percentage: 2.23%
Sheridan looks crushed.
Sam’s weight loss makes him this week’s Biggest Loser, probably putting him in charge of The Warehouse this week. So it might be canned goods for Red again!
And now Red are once again heading to elimination.
John says they’ve had the upper hand since coming in. Sheridan says they’re doing the worst of any team in the history of Biggest Loser. No team has ever lost the first two weigh ins in a row. (The American season hadn’t aired there when they went in.)
And tomorrow night Nicola is saying that they can’t kick out a boy and Sheridan has a seperate bit saying that that is complete rubbish!
“When it comes to elimination, we’re all fair game!” – Cosi
Who do you think will be eliminated?
