Season 3, Episode 9: First Competitive Warehouse Visit – Have the producers found another way to screw the fatties?
Previously, on The Biggest Loser… Blue totally whipped Red and Red made a silly/good decision!
With JJ sent packing, Michelle is pretty darn annoyed.
And with Blue in a winning position… Debbie freaks out and is mean to Shannan? Rude!
Would you like to know more? Of course you would, unfortunately with my site down you’re probably not going to see this for days. DAYS. I hate you internets!
No, wait! Just as I made the final save to the text file and gave up on putting it up… It got fixed! Weeeeeee! Enjoy!
Blue’s in the lounge room waiting for Red. “Oooooh.” – Various Blues.
They tell Blue JJ was upset. Michael wasn’t surprised because he knew that JJ fired the girls up.
Cosi’s still pissed about the girls going back on their word and being backstabbing and conniving. Dude, they’re girls. It’s what they do!
Sheridan says she felt terrible and treachorous and rotten and she never wants to feel like that again!
Cosi’s recruiting for a new best mate! He’s quite sad JJ went home. He says you don’t have much because you can’t contact your family, you don’t have much to cling onto.
John says it’ll be hardest on Cosi, it’ll be like losing his right arm. But he’s not an idiot, he’ll pick himself up and keep going.
Cosi thinks maybe he’ll have to dull himself down a bit, with so many girls on the team. I think he means to be a bit less abrasive. Nicole is nodding quite vigorously in the background and Cosi says she doesn’t need to nod quite so hard!
Debbie pops up at this point in a side bit saying that the wisest decision was to punt JJ. I’m not sure it’s wise for the survival of Blue. Wise if all you want to do is win the game, perhaps, since he probably had enough mongrel in him to go very close to winning, if not actually get there.
Sean says there’s a lack of solidarity in the Red Team, which the Blue Team definitely have.
Michelle says coming to the White House after an elimination is really hard because you never know if it was your team to lose someone.
Shannan said he literally didn’t sleep the night before, trying to put together who would have won the weigh in.
Red Team is sitting in the lounge when Michelle arrives. First thing she says?
“Hi!”
Oh, okay, the important thing was the next thing she said, “Where’s JJ?” Some of the girls look a little remorseful.
Nicole says Michelle was obviously annoyed. Cosi says her face went red and her eyes welled up a bit, just with rage.
She asks how many votes people got. Someone tells her it was the four girls.
Michelle is devastated. He was the strongest in the team and he’s a guy with the potential to lose a lot of weight.
Then she asks the team what the thought process was behind the vote. Oh don’t go there girllll!
Everyone just sort of sits there.
Sheridan pipes up first, saying that they saw an alliance between Cosi and JJ. Cosi butts in and says she can’t say that because they’ve got the “girlpower” and they could have voted any of the blokes out.
And a note for the haters: Cosi said that with the utmost respect. I’m not sure JJ would’ve, but Cosi did. ;-)
Sheridan says in a side bit that Michelle gets a couple hours a day of the smartass JJ, whereas the rest of them get him 24/7.
Apparently Sheridan also said that in the lounge, since Michelle asks why that wasn’t brought up the last time she was there. Perhaps because dobbers wear nappies?
Cosi’s pretty happy inside because she was directing it at the girls.
Sheridan finally speaks up to say she was feeling threatened by the guys and was certain she’d be going home. She currently feels like she’d trade places with JJ, because she feels shit.
Michelle asks her what she’s afraid of and Sheridan says she’s worried that she’ll go back to her old life the same as she was before. She’s not ready.
Michelle tells her to let that go, she’s stronger than that.
Then it’s time to go through the numbers. Michelle’s not real impressed by Rachel’s 3kg.
Michelle says in an aside that she’s a young, twenty year old girl with a lot of weight to lose and 3kg is the best she can do?
She gets a little happier with some of the later girls but is still pretty livid with the girls.
She’s very happy with the two remaining boys. Says both of them got great numbers, even for the first week.
But she’s still pissed they’ve lost JJ. “You keep kicking out your strongest players and you will be back in that elimination room again, and again, and again.”
And at that point she walks out of the room.
First ad break! Tease before it, all the food is gone from the fridge. Oh noes! What will they do!
Oh, right, it’s The Warehouse day. More food from a fly filled dingy old shed where who knows what used to happen. Hurrah!
Shannan rocks up to the House. Soon as he gets in he’s counting heads. Soon as he sees all 7 people he cracks up laughing and cheering.
He’s stoked. He says that against all odds, his team has won the weigh in. He’s really genuinely excited for them all. Please stop hating on him!
He goes round the room checking out the numbers.
He finds out that his three girls were the top three among all the girls. “I love the yummy mummies!”
When John announces his 10.6kg he cracks up laughing. “I felt sorry for poor old John!”
He says that anyone with a heart problem, what do you tell them? John says that it’s the way to do it, walk, there’s so many ways to lose weight.
Shannan says that John is proof that anyone in Australia with a little bit of guts, determination and consistency can lose weight.
He moves on to Sam’s 10.9kg. “Don’t tell me you were biggest?” He says that to Sean.
Shannan can’t imagine how much Sean lost.
12.6kg Sean says. And Shannan bursts out laughing again and had a handshake and a huge hug.
Sam relays how much Red lost, how much they had to lose and how much they actually lost.
“The massive result this week is a credit to what the Blues have done so far. They deserve a pat on the back.”
He tells them all not to get cocky. They’ve been rewarded for their hard work.
They’ve got another reward for their training today – they’re going to the beach!
Everyone looks pretty stoked. Have they not seen previous seasons and what happens on the beaches in Biggest Loser?
Shannan asks them all if they’re alright to train today. Sam says he was ill overnight.
Apparently he tried the seafood. See, I told you it was evil!
So he’s going to miss out. The doctor’s will be looking after him for the day.
Red’s first post-elimination training session and Michelle is still fuming. “For every single one that lifted their platter and had JJ’s name on it, I wanted them to feel their decision.” Uh, okay.
“This is going to be your place for pain!”
Everyone’s pretty nervous. Michelle wants to dedicate the session to JJ. Sheridan says it’s like kicking her while she’s down!
First up they’re going to do 100 punches, then run to the other side and do 10 pushups, then back for 90 punches, then 9 pushups, etc.
They’re going to get smashed in training to help them come together as a team. Somehow.
Sheridan does lame pushups! As does Rachel. Barely bending their elbows. You’re not going to lose weight like that, ladies!
Michelle taunts them about voting off JJ. Cosi is just sitting back and throwing to the ladies, since they kicked him out!
Michelle tells them that they’re not on holiday!
She’s determined to win. I shudder to think how skinny she’d have to be to win it!
She’s really shouting at them and Cosi says she was really fired up.
“You pissed off Cosi? And I don’t blame you because I’m f***ing pissed off with you!”
Cosi says Rachel copped a lot of attention. We then get some footage of Michelle telling here to do her pushups properly!
Rachel says she wasn’t making any excuses, Michelle just likes to pick on her.
Nicola thinks Rachel needs to get motivated to prove her worth to the team, she needs to do things on her own accord, not be told to do it. Not sure what she means.
Nicole thinks Rachel has the wrong attitude, since Rachel’s always saying she’s happy to go home. Garry thinks Rachel has stepped up a bit, but there’s still a lot more to do.
Michelle says that Rachel had a competitive background but she’s not seeing it, and she’s not laughing.
Nicola says Michelle is there to keep them motivated and remind them why they’re there.
Michelle says it was a good training session and they did well.
Cosi and Michelle head outside for a chat because Michelle wants to make sure he’s okay since his best mate got voted out.
Cosi says that what disappointed him was that they’re in a team and you don’t always like everyone on your team, you don’t always get along. But they saw it as an opportunity to shaft the person they don’t like. And now it’s going to be really hard to win the challenges and win the weigh ins.
Michelle is impressed that Cosi was so quick to grasp that they need strong guys to win challenges and pull big numbers.
They also have a chat about him wanting to have a baby. She says he needs to stay focused on that.
He says it only upsets him being away from them, he didn’t think it would be so hard. While you’re there you’ve just got to go hard. And when you get out, his girl will see him at a better weight and have more muscles.
Cosi says it’s important that you make sure you’re in A1 health.
They were trying before he went into the house, so she might already be “up the duff!”
Michelle says if he gets fit and healthy and strong and clean himself out it’ll give him the best chance to have a fantastic, healthy baby.
Cosi says he’s definitely getting stronger and well on track to reaching the goals he’s aiming for.
Michelle says she has confidence in Cosi and she really needs him to step up because he’s probably the fittest on the team now.
Second ad break! Shannan and Debbie are going to have their blowup on the beach and Steven is going to call Jillian a bitch, which seems to amuse her. Poor, foolish Steven!
Oooh, pretty beach Shannan has brought his team to.
He says that the Blue team looked excited but they knew there’s an almighty session waiting for them.
Shannan follows everyone along the beach pushing them in the back again. Someone’s so going to fall over.
Poor Sean is back to the medic again getting his foot looked at. The medic tells him if he keeps pushing himself like he’s done today it’ll just get worse and worse. He’ll have to settle down a bit before he can do weight bearing stuff again.
Sean thought it would be okay. Guess not.
Shannan says he thought the sand might be okay, but Sean caught his foot in a divot and whacked his heel.
Shannan thinks it’s a bit like a field hospital. Sean’s got his foot, Sam’s at home in bed with a tummy bug and John’s got his heart condition. But John will prove he can do amazing things yet again.
The next bit of their training is what is called a “channel drill”. And Shannan says he knew it would hurt.
What they do is run down to the water, wade across a ways, then come back up the beach and run across a bit, then back to the water. Repeat until collapse and/or death, I suppose.
Kirsten says they were all really hurting. Alison, Michael and herself were hurting but they were trying to encourage each other.
Shannan says that this session would be Project Deb. She’d broken down a bunch in the previous training session. Shannan follows her along with a gentle hand on her back.
Debbie says she struggled. Her mind and heart want to do it but from her knees down, her body doesn’t want to. She thinks she got to the limit where she can’t go on.
She stops and Shannan yells across the beach to her to not stop, don’t go down. He characterises her falling over as throwing herself onto the ground.
“I can’t breathe!” “Yes you can!” “No I can’t!” “So how the hell are you talking you boofhead?” Oh wait, that last bit was me.
Shannan tells her she has to deal with it. Everyone struggles. Debbie says she doesn’t have to deal with it. Shannan says she can’t live in her own little bubble. Debbie says she’s not in a bubble. Shannan tells her to get up! And asks her what her girls are going to see.
Debbie says in a side bit that her kids mean everything to her, she’s concentrated her whole life on them and she wants them to be proud of her.
Shannan has to literally pick Deb up off the sand. He tells her again to get up and she says no and he says he’ll do it his way then and moves into position to start picking her up and she says he can’t lift her!
I’m not sure it’s smart to try, but I think he probably could. Look at those muscles!
He gets her up and on her feet with a little help from her, then starts pushing her in the back to get her running again.
Then we hear some off camera yelling about how she was complaining about her breathing before and now it’s her leg?
The rest of Blue seem to be looking on sympathetically.
Shannan reminds Debbie of the other day where she had her pretend knee injury, which causes Debbie to scream back, “Don’t make me out to be some kind of idiot!”
Serious knee injuries don’t heal overnight darling. You were bunging it on like a champ. NOW GET UP. (Me again!)
“You’re making a fool of me now!” “How am I? I’m judging you on your actions!”
He reminds her that she said she can’t run, but then the other day she was sitting down and punching. Is that running? No, but she managed to quit on that, didn’t she?
Debbie finally admits she’s a quitter. Shannan tells her that she doesn’t have to be a quitter, she got back up. Get back with her teammates, it’s not Deb’s time.
Shannan tells her to go and walk by herself, he can’t deal with her at the moment.
In a side bit he says they’d locked horns and he needed to go train the other guys, get his thoughts together, and he needed her to go and calm down.
He heads back to where Michael, Alison and Kirsten were training. Yes, that’s right, they’re training by themselves!
Shannan says Kirsten was always a leader, Alison has found something within herself, she’s very staunch and will never give up on him.
Michael is the revelation, though. Every time he turned his back before, Michael would have given up. Not today though!
Michael says it was one of the hardest sessions he’d ever done, but he felt fantastic. He thinks his little brother would be proud if he’d seen him do that session.
John continues to stoically trudge up and down the beach. He’d seen Debbie getting pushed pretty hard so he finally walks up and tries to calm her down.
Debbie says she’s sick of being humiliated, put down and made to feel like she’s 10 years old at Fat Camp.
When they get back down the beach, Shannan takes her aside and she’s still visibly upset, she’s in tears.
Shannan says it breaks his heart, he doesn’t want people on his team to be crying.
He tells her that they’re going to take the finger off the throttle a bit. He’s going to give control over her training back to her. If she gets to a point where she thinks she’s going to explode, she needs to stop and catch her breath, then get back into it.
But if she gets onto the scales and she’s not losing the weight she needs to lose, then the rules go back to what they were.
“No more tears?” Shannan asks. Debbie agrees. “Until at least tomorrow.”
Michael says he can still feel tension in the air.
Shannan says nothing ever goes to plan, his training today went from here to there and back, nothing like what he had planned. But at the end of the day? Job’s done. He’s happy.
Third ad break! Blue team is going to come to blows over something in The Warehouse? Or is it all a beat up.
Nothing in the fridge!
Except for a bunch of water. And milk. And bread. And margarine. And condiments. And Yoplait.
They all realise that this happened last time. So it must be Warehouse time again.
Last time there was a fair bit of conflict, Kirsten reminds us.
Cue replay of JJ being a prat.
John says he’s looking forward to the Warehouse. Because, while he likes fish, he’d had enough and needed a change. He’s hoping for some nice red meat!
Cosi wonders if they’re all going to argue again over something as petty as food.
Sean’s confident the Blues will stick together, no matter what.
Sam says he didn’t stand up for himself last week with the red meat/seafood decision and he ended up with gastro because of it. This week he’s definitely going to stand up for what he wants!
Michael hates The Warehouse. Nothing good ever happens in places like that!
Ajay reminds us that they chose seafood over red meat. But this week, two different teams, two different diets.
This time the decision will be made by just one person. Everyone’s looking pretty nervous.
The assigned foods cannot be swapped, shared or changed amongst teams. Oh man, I see bad things coming…
Nicole was hoping no one on Blue would get to choose.
Ajay reveals that the choice will be put in the hands of the week’s Biggest Loser. ie; Sean!
Alison’s very happy, of course. Sheridan’s a bit less happy! Cosi’s fairly cheerful about it.
Ajay asks Sean how he feels about it. Pressure or power? Sean says a bit of both. The pressure to make the right decision but also the power over the Red Team.
I really, really hope it’s not going to be something idiotic like gee, Sean, what would Blue Team like this week? Red meat or… chocolate?
Please let them not be that cruel.
Alison says the biggest part of being there is diet and exercise.
John has faith in Sean’s decisionmaking. John has an aside saying Sean is no fool, he won’t make a hasty decision, he’ll at least talk to Blue beforehand.
And on the menu is. White light? Tasty!
Fourth ad break. And Jillian will be let loose on the Black Team.
On the menu: Canned foods and Cabbages.
Huh?
Alison is horrified. She hates canned food.
And then Ajay clarifies something. You see, the cans don’t have labels on them. I thought that maybe that was just because they didn’t want to pay food companies.
No, not at all. The cans the contestants will have will not be labeled in any way.
This is simply idiotic. Some of them are borderline or fully blown diabetics. What if they get something really sweet? Are they supposed to just keep opening more cans?
And what about the sodium content? Fat content? How are they supposed to count calories if they don’t know anything about what’s in the cans.
Ajay says there’s all kinds of cans. Some have veggies. Some have baked beans. Some are even calorie laden chocolate pudding.
God damn it.
Alison says food just doesn’t belong in a can. Michael says the only thing he’d have out of a can on a regular basis and enjoy would be… beer!
Cosi says cabbage seems okay, you can do some stuff with. Boil it up, coleslaw, etc. For a whole week though? Not good.
Garry really hates cabbage.
Ajay reminds them that the assigned foods can not be swapped, shared or exchanged between teams. You must eat what you are given.
Michael thinks it’s crap. It’s a lose-lose situation. There’s no good stuff in there.
Nicola is pretty sure Sean will pick cabbage because he can see that and know how many calories are in that.
Ajay asks Sheridan which she’d pick. Sheridan naturally says cabbage.
Sean says it’s a huge decision.
Sean tells Ajay there’s no way in the world he’d risk the fate of the Blue Team on taking unlabeled cans. He’s not a gambler. They’ve worked too hard and stuck by each other through thick and thin. They’re going to choose the cabbage.
John thinks maybe Sean was a bit hasty, since he didn’t even ask Sam and Michael, who were standing next to him. Cosi picks up on it, as does Ajay. Ajay asks him if he’d like to confer with his team.
Sean asks and nobody has a problem. Sam in an aside says he didn’t have a problem with him choosing cabbage, he just shouldn’t’ve just assumed it’s what they wanted.
Alison reassures Michael that she can cook cabbage many different ways.
Michael says that he’d sort of spoken for everyone and while everyone probably would’ve said cabbage and because of all the issues after the last selection, he probably should’ve asked.
And after all that, the decision is made. Blue has cabbage. Red has cans.
“That was a nice extra kick in the guts, so thanks for that, Ajay!” – Sheridan
Rachel says it’s one bad thing after another for them.
Debbie says she feels for them. They lost weigh in, now the food thing.
Ajay hopes they’ve made the right decision and she wishes them the best of luck and she’ll see them soon!
Alison is sure Sean made the right choice, since they have no idea what’s in the cans, it’s the only choice to make.
Garry’s very worried about what’s in the cans.
Nicole wants to get home and start opening cans and matching stuff with the calorie book.
Red Team wanders in carting all their cans. Cosi says it was like Christmas Day, opening them to see what’s inside.
“Some sort of white substance.” Custard, apparently. In a can. Tasty.
Some carrots.
Nicola says the types of food revealed in the cans was nothing short of disgusting.
There’s a really nice looking meat pie in one of them.
And yes, THEY HAVE SPAM!
Nicole says everything was nothing she’d’ve eaten at home. Nicola had her “sour face on”, none of them were appealing.
Nicole says Nicola didn’t even give it a chaaance. Because apparently she wasn’t bitching about the contents not five seconds earlier.
And then Cosi hits the motherlode. Condensed milk!
He dips his finger in, just to confirm it is, he says. But all the girls swoop in “like a flock of seagulls” and make him wash his finger.
Nicola says she thinks they all wanted to have it, that’s something she would actually have out of a can. But Nicole was a good Mum and made him wash his finger instead of licking it.
Lentils. Potatoes. In a can? Peas.
Nicole says some of them smelled a bit funny, but she guesses they’re edible.
They’re going to start opening them and getting the calorie counter out and work out what everything is and they should be okay.
Fifth ad break! “You wanna quit? It’d make my life easier!” – Jillian
And I just hit the “three minute skip” button on my PVR and hey look, I’m still in ads-ville. I hate you, commercial TV!
And we’re off in America. Jillian says it’s Week Two and their progress has been incredible.
She’s pumping them all up, telling them there’d be a house full of people looking to get rid of them when they get back.
She says they need to be stronger than them. Mentally and physically and emotionally. There should be no question about who is in charge, who is in charge Bryce? He gives some lame response and Jillian tells him, “Say I am in charge, bitch!”
They go along the line and Carrianne says bring it, you got nothing, bitch!
It gets to Steven and he repeats the line and that’s where Jillian goes, “WHOAAAA!” And grins.
Jillian says this is the first time Stevens got all the way through a work out and saw a sense of accomplishment in his eyes. And she’s really happy because she was starting to think they were going to lose him.
“You wanna quit? Make my life easier, there’s less people to train. You sure? Steven? I bet I get you to quit! Go!”
“You wanna quit? It’s only going to get harder!”
Steven says he’s been thinking a lot more clearly. He needs to be there, he needs to lose the weight, he needs to believe in himself. He doesn’t want to not wake up tomorrow.
“I don’t think you can lose the weight.” “I think I can.” “I don’t think so.” “I can. I can. I’ll do more if you want me to prove it.” “… I see real change in you today, Steven.”
Jillian is most pleased!
Jillian has them all on the treadmills and during the rest periods gets to know them. She asks them to tell her something good about themself. Steven says he has a good sense of humour.
She gets to Carrianne, and Carrianne’s got nothing. She tears up a little and Jillian says she’s coming to the realisation that she doesn’t have anything nice to say about herself.
She says that she’s stubborn. And Jillian says nope! Jillian says Carrianne has beautiful eyes. Carrianne repeats it, but Jillian says she can’t have her’s! Get one of her own.
Jillian tells her that if she can’t say anything nice about herself, how will anyone else ever. “What’s going to happen if you say it?” Carrianne says she can’t think of anything to say.
Jillian is baffled, she asks how that’s possible.
She’s not asked Carrianne before why not her, to be beautiful, rich, happy, have her dreams come true. It’s something she usually asks.
So she asks. And Carrianne says, “Because!”
“Because why?”
“Because why not?”
And Jillian says that that is the answer.
Carrianne says the journey is emotional training, more than physical. Can throw as much physical training at her as you want and she’ll do it.
She’s hoping at the end of the journey, she’ll be able to find who she really is and what she can do.
Tomorrow on the Biggest Loser… Rachel rebels. She says she’s trying her hardest, but if Michelle wants to tell her she’s not, then she’d rather go. “Pull it together!” Michelle says.
Temptation is a game of bluff, with calorie-laden consequences. “Really excited to watch him throw up.” I think it’s Sheridan saying that. Still have a little trouble with who’s who when their head isn’t on screen.
Temptation looks fairly easy though. All seems to be restaurant style meals, so they’re probably not too unhealthy. And since the fatties don’t need to pay, it’s not even a ripoff like regular food!
Well, I suppose they’ll pay when Shannan or Michelle finds out…
And because I love me a good polling…
