The Biggest Loser – Engaged Couples 1: Airing out of order is cool!
“I want to be a thin hot gorgeous sexy everybody look at me bride.” – Rasha
“My goal in life is to be a Mum, I don’t want my health problems to interfere with that.” – Sarah
The two couples are Edwin and Rasha, Steve and Sarah. The trainers are Bob & Jillian, hurrah!
Of course before they begin their journey they have to say goodbye to mounds and mounds of food. GIVE!
Edwin says he considers a lot of the foods there to be “good food”. Sarah says it makes her feel terrible to look at it all.
Read on? Please?
They head off to be weighed in and Rasha admits that she was terrified and it kind of made her want to puke as well. THAT’S CHEATING!
The engaged fatties again get 2 weeks at the ranch, then several months at home.
If they’re the couple that loses the greatest percentage of weight at the end they will win the wedding of their dreams, to the value of $50,000.
Rasha says that every girl dreams about her wedding day, dreams about being a princess, having everyone they’ve ever known at their wedding and basking in your glory.
Rasha gets the joy of being the first to weigh-in. She says it was a little intimidating to have to go up there in her tiny sports bra and her tiny shorts.
Starting weight: 237lbs (107.73kg)
“That’s like a linebacker, you know!” She has a bit of a giggle at it though…
Edwin, her other half, weighs in next.
Starting weight: 240lbs (109.09kg)
Rasha’s embarassed to see that he’s only 3 pounds heavier than her.
Total: 477lbs (216.82kg)
Sarah weighs in first for the Red team.
Starting weight: 297lbs (unknown, ch10 didn’t flash the conversion!)
Steve says it really hurt her to see that number up there, but he still loves her no matter what. N’awwwwwwww!
Steve weighs in next.
Starting weight: 274lbs (see above)
Strange, he looks like he’d weigh way more than her. Has a huge beer belly!
Total: 571lbs (259.55kg)
Winner of the first weigh-in at the end of the first two weeks at the ranch – Honeymoon in Jamaica!
Rasha says that her and Edwin are not only going to win the honeymoon and the dream wedding but they’re going to win the best prize – their health and their happiness!
Interesting that they don’t have the engaged couples gorge themselves…
Sarah and Steve head back to their bungalow to see their wedding clothes and pictures of themselves. Ditto Rasha and Edwin. “Tonight is the first night of the rest of our lives – a skinny us!” – Rasha
Bob arrives! By himself, awww. He says they’re going to need to forget everything they’ve ever been taught when it comes to working with him. He wanders in to their room and gets them up and out of bed.
He wants to get to know them first before kicking their asses. Bob asks if they’ve gained weight since they’ve been together and Rasha says that yes, but Edwin’s mostly gained weight because he’s with her. She thinks he’d be a skinny guy if he wasn’t with her. Bob says that it seems like Rasha is taking the lead and Rasha says she’d love it if Edwin would take the lead.
Jillian’s approach is a bit… different. She runs up to their bungalow and bounds into their bedroom and bounces up on the bed and yells hiiii and get up and so on!
She takes them off to the gym and starts kicking their asses. The usual “get up” “don’t hold onto the bars” “what’re you doing, there’s no stopping!” And so on.
Sarah feels like everyone around her is skinnier and they’re all looking at her like she doesn’t belong in the gym, she should be out eating chips!
Jillian asks Sarah how she’s going at one point and she says not good and her legs feel like Jell-O… which Jillian says is a shame because it’s only been three minutes!
Jillian says that Sarah is in pretty bad shape, her muscles and tendons and so on just aren’t up to the challenge yet. Jillian has her on the treadmill and Sarah actually falls down on it, hurting her knee a little, but she’s fine.
8 days till weigh-in!
Sarah grunts and groans rather a lot getting out of bed and then a whole bunch more in the gym with Jillian. Edwin’s not got a lot of sympathy for Red because Jillian’s exerting a lot of authority and he doesn’t deal well with that.
Sarah’s trying the usual lazy route of trying to hang onto the treadmill while she’s walking and Jillian’s having none of that, even though Sarah insists she’s going to fall off if she can’t hang on. Jillian says no some more and then says if she tries to hold on again then Jillian will make Steve do sprints while Jillian watches Sarah. Evil!
She keeps crying about how she’s going to fall off. Jillian says in an aside that often no matter what you threaten to do to them it’s not enough but when you threaten to beat the hell out of a teammate you finally get a really good effort!
But no, even with the threat Sarah is still hyperventilating on the treadmill, even with Jillian hanging onto her hands. Steve looks across at them and is finding it so hard he eventually has to stop running on the treadmill (where Jillian put him to try and push Sarah into doing it right) and walk out of the gym because it was so upsetting to him.
4 days till weigh-in! Challenge day!
They’re at a little chapel with a bunch of limos on either side of an aisle leading up to where Caroline is standing.
Caroline asks them what a perfect wedding gift would be for them and they all answer “money!”
So the prize today is $5,000. Plus one week’s worth of cooking from a professional chef when they get back home.
Each limo has $500 in each, 10 in total. Whichever one finds all 10 packages first and gets back to Caroline is the only team that gets to keep it.
Ahhh, but there’s a twist – since they’re about to tie the knot, they’re going to be tied in a knot! They’re attached at the hip with a bit of bungee cord, ha!
Red take an early lead, moving onto their 6th limo while Blue is still only on their 4th.
But Blue manage to catch up in time for the final limo… But Red find their’s just ahead of Blue and manage to make it back to Caroline first and thus win the $5,000 and the chef for a week.
Steve’s nervous heading to the weigh-in. Wondering if they’d put in enough work. Edwin says he was going in there to win, with a big smile on his face!
Rasha’s making a scared face when Caroline asks if they’re all ready to weigh-in so she gets plucked to go first! She’s mostly worried that she won’t have lost any weight at all.
Start: 237lbs (107.73kg)
Current: 222lbs (100.91kg)
Loss: 15lbs (6.82kg)
A pound a day! She was worried she was going to have only lost 5lbs.
Edwin’s already getting some muscle definition so I’m guessing he’s done a decent number.
Start: 240lbs (109.09kg)
Current: 216lbs (97.27kg)
Loss: 26lbs (11.82kg)
Edwin says the Red team worked hard but he thinks they’ve not worked anywhere near as hard as Blue. Steve says he’s a little worried…
Total: 41lbs (no conversion)
Percentage: 8.6%
49lbs is what Steve and Sarah will need to have done in total.
Steven’s up first.
Start: 274lbs (124.55kg)
Current: 244lbs (110.91kg)
Loss: 30lbs (13.64kg)
Sarah starts crying at how well her man’s done. She says she’s very proud of him.
Sarah will still need to have lost more than 19lbs.
Start: 297lbs (135kg)
Current: 272lbs (123.64kg)
Loss: 25lbs (11.36kg)
Red for the win! “I fell off the treadmill for 25lbs!”
Total: 55lbs
Percentage: 9.63%
So the fatties head home again. Steve says he’s feeling confident because the ranch didn’t break him. Rasha says her entire life has changed since coming, she’s shocked at what she’s accomplished. Sarah is confident her and Steve can get there now, even though they’ve a long way to go. Rasha says it’s a turning point in their lives, she wasn’t sure they were going to make it before. She also says that losing the first weigh-in is a kick in the ass that she thinks will help them get the win for the final weigh-in.
Back at home, Rasha and Edwin are both looking pretty good at their final training session before the final weigh-in. But so are Steve and Sarah. Steve is pushing Sarah really hard and Sarah retorts “Okay, Jillian!”
Rasha watches Edwin pumping iron and sees how big his muscles are getting and she looooves it.
Sarah now feels like she can handle having kids and she’s not going to let her weight rule her life.
Rasha says it’s mindboggling that she’s going to be able to fit into her dream wedding dress. She says it’s really good to know that she might be able to inspire other people in losing weight as well.
6 months have passed and now they’re back to face the scales once more and find out which couple is The Biggest Loser!
Edwin and Rasha come out on stage first and both look fantastic. Edwin’s arms are totally ripped and Rasha is no longer a sort of shapeless blob of flesh.
Steve and Sarah come out second. Steve’s looking a lot better, Sarah’s looking better but not quite as amazing a transformation as Rasha.
Edwin says that in the last 6 months he’s seen a drive in Rasha he’s not seen before.
Sarah says that if they win, she wants to get married in a castle! She’s a princess and she deserves to get married in a castle!
Blue: 477lbs
Red: 571lbs
Edwin:
Start: 240lbs (109.09kg)

Current: 167lbs (75.91kg)
Loss: 70lbs (31.82kg)
Total: 133lbs (60.46kg)

In order to win, Steve and Sarah will need to have lost at least 159lbs. They don’t look confident…
Steve:
Start: 274lbs (124.55kg)
Current: 181lbs (82.27kg)
Loss: 93lbs (42.27kg)
Sarah:

Total: 170lbs (77.27kg)
Percentage: unknown, wasn’t revealed. Enough to win!
Red wins yet again. Go Jillian!
No word on whether there’ll be yet another Biggest Loser special next week, but there’s a Family based special that they might air, so check your local guides next week, I guess!
