Recap #68 – Thursday 26th April – The Grand Finale of The Biggest Loser Australia, Season Two.

Replays, replays, replays.
The overall Biggest Loser will also receive an $18,000 set of fitness equipment, on top of the $200,000 prize. Sweet!
Replays, replays, replays…

Want to know who wins? Or want to see more replays? Yay replays wins!

Nah, kidding, read on to find out who wins the major and minor prizes…

But just before we do, the predicted winners as voted by you, the readers of this blog?

Minor: Munnalita (Greg and Damien 2nd and 3rd)

Major: Marty (Pati and Chris roughly equal)

Did you guys get it right? We’ll see…

Alex is the first to come out on stage… And he’s looking pretty damn stylish! He’s still a pudgy little bugger but it’s nothing like what he used to be.
They have a neat special effect as he walks out where his old fat self is walking alongside him. Fat self is half nekkid and the clothed Alex is still skinnier.
He doesn’t look to have lost enough to win, but he’s looking much better than he did.

Sam comes out next, she actually left due to medical reasons, not eliminated like Alex.
Sam looks great! Obviously her medical condition has slowed her down a little, but she looks so much better than she did when she was forced to leave. She’s around Ajay’s size now, but she’s quite a bit taller. She’s still looking for love, but hasn’t found it yet.

Replays, replays, replays…

Kelly gets to stroll out next. Ajay has many kind words to say about her before she comes out.
Kelly’s clearly lost a lot of weight around her bum and hips, but her belly is seriously pudging out, even with the flattering dress. Is she pregnant again? Has crazy white stripes in her hair. Like Munnalita’s hair was originally, only classier.
Overall, she looks better but clearly has a long way to go. She actually looked better in the “2 months later” footage they had after her elimination, which is strange…

Michael is out next.
He’s looking great. He barely even looks like his old self, particularly since he got rid of the horrible “beard”. He’s much thinner. Looks so much better. He’s got to be a real chance at winning this thing, with him looking like that!

Gerard’s up next. The difference in his body is pretty pronounced. He’s still carrying a bit of the old gut, but he looks so much better. Ajay says he’s looking at least 10 years younger and he really does.

P’eta’s turn after that. She’s still very round around the waist, hips and thighs, but she looks like a whole other person in the face. She looks much better but still clearly has a long way to go.

Replays, replays, replays. Marsbarlita is born and Jules leaves the game in this set of replays. If anyone actually cares! Seen it, get to the weight bit!

Mel’s gorgeous, Ajay said so! She comes out next.
And Ajay’s right, Mel looks amazing. If you hadn’t been watching the show you wouldn’t know she was ever that fat lump who was on the show at the beginning. Ajay asks her to show Ajay her guns… Mel flexes and holy crap, her muscles are huge!

Greg, Mel’s ex-duo-partner is next.
Greg looks good. It’s hard to tell in his street clothes if it’s chub under the shirt or if it’s muscles, but he looks good either way. If it’s muscle, he’s a good chance at winning.
Ajay asks Greg if his wife still has to help him put his socks on and he says no, not anymore… then he covers his kids’ ears and says she’s ripping everything off now!

Jules, the second person to leave due to medical problems, has her turn next. Even looking at her shadow cast against the screen before she comes out, she looks so much better. She’s still very obviously overweight, especially around the tops of her thighs and bum, but she looks so much better than she did before she started on the show. And so much happier!
Of course, a brand new car is probably helping her disposition a bit!
Ajay says that Jules was only allowed to work out an hour a day after going home and Jules says she’d been making every session with her trainer count. She says it’s a huge relief to have the stress off her heart from losing all the weight and that she’s glad she’ll now be around for her kids.

Replays, replays, replays. The introduction of the Outsiders was the start of this section of replays.

Laura, one of the other replacement ladies, has her turn next.
She’s still pretty chubby, but she’s showing off her cleavage with pride now, which is a pretty big change from the shy retiring Laura of the past. She tells Ajay that Project Dad is going really well, he’s lost about 8kg so far.

Replays!

Courtney comes out next. “The boy turned man!” As Ajay calls him.
Courtney’s looking pretty damn good. He seems to have lost a little weight since leaving but not a lot. Be interesting to compare his final number. Courtney tells Ajay that she’s looking pretty good! Courtney’s goal was to not jiggle while dancing and he says there’s still a little bit of jiggling, but there’s not great waves anymore!

Damien, the biggest ever competitor on the show in any version, is up next.
He’s still a very big boy, but the difference is extraordinary. And the beard is back! He looks so much better with the beard.
Ajay asks Damien what his skinny girlfriend thinks of the new him and Damien says he thinks she likes the much increased energy he has now!

Kimberlie’s turn next.
She’s looking much better than when she left the show! Her thighs and much smaller and her tummy is fairly flat. Is the loose skin being compressed or has she had surgery? No mention either way.

REPLAYS! Including the bestest elimination ever as Munnalita gets voted out at last!

Munnalita’s turn to come out next and Ajay reminds us all that Munnalita vowed to match the overall winner kilo for kilo and Ajay says Munnalita may have done it as she caught a glimpse earlier.
And yeah, looking at her as she walks out, it’s certainly a possibility! She’s lost a huge amount of weight from her upper body and stomach. Still has huge hips but nothing like they used to be. Still don’t think she can beat the guys but she’s in with a shot I’d say.
Munnalita’s advice to overweight women on the IVF program – it’s a struggle, but you’ve just got to stick with it.

Shannan and Michelle get to come out next. They’ve yet to see any of the contestants so they’re in for a shock!

But first… replays! Lots of fun replays this time of Shannan and Michelle being total badasses, then softies, then happy idiots, etc.

Unsurprisingly when Shannan and Michelle walk out they look fantastic. Hugs and kisses all round as they get to greet the eliminated contestants. Michelle says she’s gobsmacked, Shannan says what he’d pictured in his mind was as nothing compared to what he’s seen today. He’s really happy to see them all standing there looking so proud.
Michelle is asked what one piece of advice she’d give them all and she says they need to reflect back on where they came from, remember how they felt when they came to the house, why they applied in the first place. When they feel like they might be slipping off-track, remember all the pain and effort they’ve gone through and know that they can do it!

Jules gets to weigh-in first:
Day 1: 126.5kg
Current: 91.6kg
Loss: 34.9kg
Percentage: 27.59%

Phenomenal effort, considering her huge medical problems.

Sam goes next:
Day 1: 128kg
Current: 87.4kg
Loss: 40.6kg
Percentage: 31.72%

Another great effort considering she did most of it at home after leaving before Jules!

Neither of those weights are part of the “official” weigh-in. The first one to weigh in officially is Alex.

Alex:
Day 1: 155.2kg
Current: 113.4kg
Loss: 41.8kg
Percentage: 26.93%

Worse than the two medical-girls! Woeful. He’s the leader of the official competition but only by virtue of the two girls not counting. Great result for his health, poor in terms of the competition.

Mel:
Day 1: 108.4kg
Current: 78kg
Loss: 30.4kg
Percentage: 28.04%

Mel is now in the lead! Alex doesn’t look so impressed. Ajay thanks Fernwood at this point for helping to make all their female contestants look so good.

Greg:
Day 1: 148.8kg
Current: 99.9kg
Loss: 48.9kg
Percentage: 32.86%

Under 100kg! Well done Greg! He’s now in first place, knocking Mel out of contention.

P’eta:
Day 1: 131.6kg
Current: 106.7kg
Loss: 24.9kg
Percentage: 18.92%

Even less than Alex, which is not so great… Greg remains in first place.
Courtney wanders up and gives Greg a friendly punch on the arm. As Courtney steps up to talk to Ajay, Greg grabs Courtney’s bum!

Courtney:
Day 1: 139.2kg
Current: 98.3kg
Loss: 40.9kg
Percentage: 29.38%

Greg remains in first place, still!
Kimberlie’s up next and she’s got a lot of loose skin hanging off her arms.

Kimberlie:
Day 1: 141.8kg
Current: 95kg
Loss: 46.8kg
Percentage: 33%

Good lord, Kimberlie knocked Greg out! That is phenomenal! Afterwards she thanks Steve who is sitting up in the crowd. She says sorry to Greg who is too busy grinning at her and says not to worry about it.

Gerard:
Day 1: 133.5kg
Current: 90.2kg
Loss: 43.3kg
Percentage: 32.43%

So close to knocking Kim off, but not quite! He says he’s happy anyway.

Kelly‘s turn next.
Day 1: 117.1kg
Current: 89.1kg
Loss: 28kg
Percentage: 23.91%

Too much booze for you!

Laura:
Day 1: 109.2kg
Current: 84.2kg
Loss: 25kg
Percentage: 22.89%

Kimberlie’s still in the lead, if you’re playing along at home.
“Damo’s going to hammer me!” – Kimberlie
71.4kg he’ll need to have lost to be in the lead. Crikey!

Damien:
Day 1: 216.3kg
Current: 141.7kg
Loss: 74.6kg
Percentage: 34.49%

“YOU ARE THE MANNNN!” Ajay yells. Damien gets a standing ovation from everyone in the studio. He’s now in first place. He gives Shannan and Michelle both a big hug, lifting them off the ground.
Michael needs to have lost 57kg to get into the lead.

Michael:
Day 1: 165.2kg
Current: 95.2kg
Loss: 70kg
Percentage: 42.37%

That is an absolutely staggering amount of weight. Yes, he was huge when he began, but he almost outdid Damien on raw figures alone, never mind percentages!

Munnalita’s last to weigh-in.
She’ll need to have lost at least 54.1kg to take the lead. She’s got to be a big chance at that. If she hasn’t made it it’s going to be really close!

Munnalita:
Day 1: 127.3kg
Current: 74.1kg
Loss: 53.2kg
Percentage: 41.79%

So very, very, very close!

But not enough! Michael has just won $50,000 as the biggest loser among the eliminated contestants!
Michael’s family stream onto the stage for hugs and kisses. Kelly must be itching to head over and snog him too but she stays off to the side with the other contestants.

Ajay pimps out their website and says The Biggest Loser Club is now open. Link is over to the right if you want it!

Jillian and Bob are off in New York. Jillian’s looking… Kinda freaky. They both say that everyone looks fantastic. Bob says he’s proud of Michael. Go Blue!

Chris gets to come out to see us all first… after a bunch of replays of how he came to be in the house and so on.
He walks out… And he’s so skinny it’s unbelievable. He also looks much less sickly than he did when he left the house. Obviously going home and eating better has done him a world of good, because he’s looking very strong and confident in himself.
Chris says his first impression of his initial trainer, Commando Steve, was a lot of tattoos, a lot of muscles, but when you get to know him he’s one of the nicest blokes you’ll ever meet.

Pati’s replays come next.
She walks out… As a skinnybitch! Well, not really, she’s still chubby around the waits and thighs, but compared to where she was when she started? The difference is astonishing. She struts along the catwalk and does some mock-sexy-posing at the end.

Marty’s last of all.
He walks out of the shadows… after posing like a disco-era idol or something! He’s looking pretty damn skinny! It’s going to be an awfully close race between him and Chris it looks like. He looks pretty buff around the upper body even.

Just a note here – Ajay’s actually being allowed to be herself throughout much of the show so far, a lot more bubbly and giggly and so on. So all you people who had a go at her all season, see! See! We told you she’s not really that dullard we see every week! :-)

The contestants who have weighed in so far have lost 603.5kg since Day 1. Very impressive!

Ajay tells us that second place will also receive $30,000 and third place wins $20,000.

Marty:
Day 1: 160.6kg
Current: 94.7kg
Loss: 65.9kg
Percentage: 41.03%

First place so far, of course. Munnalita beat him though!
Pati’s up next.

Pati will need to have lost 49.4kg to surpass Marty.

Pati:
Day 1: 120.2kg
Current: 72.2kg
Loss: 48kg
Percentage: 39.93%

Not quite enough but terribly, terribly close!

Chris is last, of course.
He’ll need to have lost at least 61.4kg to become The Biggest Loser. Sweet Jebus that’s a lot of weight… But he’s very skinny…

Chris:

Day 1: 149.5kg
Current: 79.4kg
Loss: 70.1kg
Percentage: 46.89%

Romped home! Annihilated Marty’s loss, obliterated Michael’s, trounced Munnalita, won it with ease!

The Biggest Loser for 2007 is… CHRIS!
Lots of cheers, air cannons full of glittery streamers and stuff. Hurrah!

And Ajay announces that Series 3 is in the planning stages and if you want to apply, go to the Official Website for more information.

But to finish out the show a special performance of the Easy Beats classic, “Good Times”… by Damien Wicks!

And here endeth the season. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

The Biggest Loser Season 3 is currently scheduled to begin in 2008.
