Recap #62 – Monday 16th April – Penultimate Elimination!

Elimination night rolls around once more with Pati and Kimberlie up for elimination.

The animosity between Chris and Kim is well known and Marty and Pati have no reason to love each other, but will the voting be so clear cut? Read on to find out!

First after the intro tonight we get yet another sickening replay of Munnalita’s declaration about being proud of everything she’s done to get where she is in the game. Joy.

From the time the show was supposed to start to the first new bits? Five minutes!

They finally emerge from the weigh-in room, apparently everyone is quite stunned, mostly because of the really big numbers.
Kim’s now completely confident that she can get to the end, if she gets to stay. She thinks there’ll be some amazing stuff going on this week.
Pati says it’s a bizarre experience because she’s never been below the yellow line. Being below it is terrible because of the threat of being sent home.

Munnalita talks crap, as usual, saying that this is the hardest decision she’s ever had to make. She says that her and Pati have been friends for so long and she was always worried about having to pick between Pati and someone else. Pati tells Munnalita that they’ve talked before about why she thinks she’s not ready to go yet and she’s worried about what will happen to her if she doesn’t finish the show.
Munnalita says she’d feel lost and devastated without Pati, she wants her to get to the end. The only doubt she has is that she doesn’t know if she’ll be able to get to the finals herself if Pati is still in the game.
So apparently Munnalita’s loyalty and ethical standards are for sale for the bargain basement price of just $200,000! Get in quick before someone else buys them!

Pati says that maybe Marty will save Kimberlie because they’ve formed a good friendship. Munnalita is surprised at Pati’s prediction, thinking that Marty would prefer to save a Red team member. Uh, hello? Red team fingerprints are all over the many knives sticking out of Marty’s back. Why the hell would he save Pati over someone who’s been nothing but pleasant to him?

Marty and Kim have a chat, Marty saying he couldn’t believe that Kim went under the line with the number she put in. Kim thinks it’s game on because everybody’s vying for the money, maybe not Marty, but Marty definitely wants the title. Marty says it’s a hard decision because Kim’s there for the right reason and she’s always been honest and open from the start. Pati on the other hand… has screwed him over twice. He says he’s always been loyal to the Reds, but he did that last time and got sent home again.
Marty says there’s an opportunity here for revenge, if that’s what he wanted.
Kim says if Chris uses his head he’ll want to keep Kim in the game because she’s the weakest in the game and thus of no threat in any further challenges and so on.

Chris now has an interview bit where he says that everyone’s a threat, everyone’s got more weight to lose than him, everyone else has better percentages still to lose. He says Pati is the stronger in challenges and thus more threat in that respect, as well as being fitter in general.
He says to Pati that he’s spoken with Kim. Kim told Chris that Marty wants to break the Red alliance, as well as keeping Kim around as she’s the weakest left in the game. Chris said to Kim that Marty made a good point.
Pati is quite surprised at Kim having said this and that Chris told her as much. In an aside Pati says she was surprised Kim approached Chris because Kim wouldn’t normally spit in his direction, let alone talk to him, so if she’s willing to go to those lengths to stay in the game then she’s capable of pretty much anything. Except she doesn’t need the money, it’s well known she’s not after the money and the chances of her winning the money are remote, as you well know, Pati. Unlike you, who do need the money, have made it clear from the start you’re after the money, you do actually have a chance at winning the money and have stabbed backs left and right throughout the series to get where you are today.

Kim has a chat with Munnalita as well and Munnalita thinks that maybe it won’t come down to a weigh-in for the final bit, but if it comes down to a challenge for the final elimination then she’s likely to come in last and be out of the game if Pati is still there. She doesn’t want to be voting for Pati, but she wants to be in the final as much as Pati does. She says it’s nothing against Pati or their friendship, but if it comes down to a challenge, she has a much better chance against Kim than Pati.
Meanwhile Kim is barely concealing the disdain on her face at everything Munnalita is saying. She’s not saying a lot in response, either.

Pati has an aside here where she says that it does upset her that Munnalita could vote for her, she’s not naive or stupid and she knows that Munnalita will do anything to stay in the game. She realised a long time ago that she’s just that kind of person.

And we’re finally in the elimination room!
Now Ajay needs to spell out for us again who is facing elimination and who gets to vote, etc. We know, we know, please get to the votes!

“It’s great to be back!” – Marty, on getting another chance at winning.

Ajay reminds Marty that he’s been doublecrossed twice before, does he feel a need to get even? Marty says he doesn’t feel a need to get even, he needs to think about his future in the game more than getting even.
Ajay asks Chris about having started out playing the game hard, and Chris says he’s realised that that isn’t really the way to go, even though they’re in the final week. In the end it made his decision easier this week as he’s gone with his heart and he doesn’t think anyone will be surprised at his decision.
Munnalita says her’s was a hard decision, they’re both great girls and there’s pro’s and con’s to consider.
Pati is asked if friendships count for anything at this point and Pati says she’d like to think that they do but because it’s the business end of things sometimes business doesn’t mix with friendship.
Kim is asked who she thinks is the bigger threat in the game and she says that Pati is definitely a big threat and Kim is no threat at all because she’s not there to win the game and never has been.

Marty is asked first. He says many things went through his head about who he should vote for. He thinks they’re both amazing women and he congratulates them both. He says he considers them both threats in the game, Pati is extremely motivated and has a lot of power. Kim is extremely focused but has been a bit more honest with him and has been much more friendly towards him every day he’s been there. So he’s voted for…
Pati: 1 (Marty)

One more vote and she’ll be going home.

Chris says his vote won’t come as a shock to anyone at all, pretty direct, pretty straightforward. When he came into the house he thought he’d get a lot of support from this person, but he didn’t. But that didn’t affect the decision as much as the way they played the game, she wasn’t helpful as a team member and he doesn’t think she needs to be there anymore.
“So it is with great pleasure I can say ding-dong the witch is dead!”
Kim: 1 (Chris)
Pati: 1 (Marty)

Kim sort of smirkily grins down the table.

Whoever Munnalita has voted will be going home. She says the two women are both beautiful, determined, courageous women who’ve both lost amazing amounts of weight. It’s really hard for her to vote for either of them. One of the women is definitely a threat to her in the game, definitely very powerful and fit, very determined, she’s a fighter and wants to get to the end and… she believes it would make it difficult for her to have this women continue on in the game and it might jeopardise Munnalita’s position in the finale, so she’s had to vote for… the white fuzzy ghost person!
After the ad break she says that love, loyalty and friendship won’t let her do anything else.
So, ultimately, she has voted for… Kimberlie!

Kimberlie says she wasn’t surprised by anyone’s vote and says she thought everyone was very honest with what they had to say. She says she would have actually been disappointed with Munnalita if she hadn’t voted for Kim because loyalty and friendship should be more important. Ajay asks Kim about the harsh words Chris had to say and what went wrong? Kim says that it was because she called him on his dishonesty right from the start and that obviously didn’t go down too well. You can come in wanting to win the game but you shouldn’t be dishonest about it and have a lack of integrity, so if she heard him lying in front of her she’d called him on it. She thinks that Chris is very determined to win the money and he’ll do whatever it takes to win it. But she thinks morals and ethics need to come into it and Chris is lacking a bit in that department.
Chris then interjects to say he didn’t want to bring it into the gutter today but he feels like ever since they came into the house she’s been constantly spreading rumours about him and being negative about him or make him be seen in a negative way and if that’s her strategy, good luck to her. He’s played a physical game, he’s been working hard from Day One, anyone who wants to argue with that? The results speak for themselves.
Kim says she’s really happy with the way she’s conducted herself in the house. She hasn’t changed her personality and she’s not willing to lose her integrity over $200,000 and when push comes to shove, the show is about losing weight. She knows that some people want the title and the money but losing the weight for good is more of a reward.
Ajay asks her if there’s any chance she’ll go back above 170kg ever again and she says that no, she’ll never go back above 90kg. That’s why it was so important for her to be on the show because it embarassed her to be up on stage in not much clothes and she’s got too much pride to go back to looking like that again.

Marty is then asked what he thinks the most amazing thing is he’s noticed about Kim. He says that Kim has always had a good sense of integrity and honesty. If she’s heard something about him or questioned something about him, she confronts him and asks him straight up about it. He really admires that about her.
Pati is asked if she thinks Kim is a good ambassador for losing weight on the outside and Pati says definitely. One thing that struck her was how secure she was about her goals, she was there to lose weight, that’s what she wanted. And she also got to learn how far she can push herself to reach her goals.

Time to go bye bye Kim! Big hug from Pati, big hug from Munnalita, totally ignored by Chris, big hug from Marty, who says “He’s next.” “Yes, you do that for me.”
“Seeya Chris.” “Yeah, seeya…”

One week left to go in the house, more intense than ever before. This week will have one last elimination and just three of them will be finalists and have the opportunity to win the $200,000.
There will be another weigh-in and then the four of them will find themselves in the elimination room again to vote…

Munnalita says she’s happy that Pati didn’t go away, Pati is happy that Pati didn’t go away. Marty apologises to Pati for having to vote for her. Chris is sitting off on the end of the couch quietly. He says he’d said his piece and that was that.
The final four are all really impressed with themselves as usual… Like the old final four were last week. Hmmm. Munnalita says that the numbers will be really big this week with such a strong group of people and everyone will be fighting hard to be part of the final three and she’ll be one of the three!

Shannan and Michelle arrived again and get to find out, at last, who the final four would be. Michelle says they’re both really nervous about which of their guys would be back.
Shannan grins and laughs to see Marty back again. Michelle says she was really happy to see Marty back again.
They run through everyone’s numbers, starting with the absent whiteshirts. Damien’s number impressed them, Laura’s result saddened Shannan quite a bit because he knew she’d been working really hard all week, even Munnalita says she’d been going at it a lot. Gerard’s result puts a grin on both trainer’s faces, Michelle saying he must be happy with that, Marty says he’s over the moon at being under 100kg.
Michael needed 5kg and got 5.1kg and they’re both really excited and Michelle says you couldn’t write a script this good!
Then Marty says he needed 4.9kg to beat Michael… And he did 7.6kg. They’re both amazed. Michelle says it took her breath away.

“And then what happened?!” Both trainers are amazed at how well Kim did… And then they realise it must mean the others put in amazing results as well, since Kim got eliminated despite dropping 5.2kg.
Michelle’s jaw drops at Chris’ 7.9kg. Shannan says he’s a freak, phenomenal.
Munnalita had a good week at 6.3kg. Michelle is really happy, especially since Munnalita and Pati are almost neck and neck in weight now.

They then explain who voted for who. Munnalita says she’d be honoured to have Pati in the finale to compete against so she couldn’t vote her out. Shannan says to Munnalita that she’s changed a lot in the last couple of weeks. Bwahaha.

Then it’s time for training! Shannan wants the boys! In the big gym! Michelle says she’ll take the girls… out for a coffee! Laughter all round.

Shannan sees the tension between the two lads and wants to show them how competitive they can be. He sets a ball down at either end of the gym. Chris stands in the middle with a tackle pad and Marty has to charge one end to the other with a ball, trying to touch the ball at either end, while Chris tries to block him. Shannan says they’ll start out with a two minute burst. Chris says that he knows Marty’s a nice enough guy but there was no way he was going to let the old guy win!
“It felt good, bashing into Chris!” – Marty
Marty’s actually got some good moves, spinning and ducking and weaving around the young fella. Shannan says he knew to get the best from them both he needed to create a competitive environment for them.
Marty ends up scoring 14 touches.

Chris says neither of them wanted to give up or give any ground.
Shannan says he could see them starting to let the anger out of them, lots of aggression, but not any anger or hatred, so the tension was being let off each time they hit each other.
Marty says he felt like he held his own against someone 15 years younger. Chris says that even though Marty is 38 he still thinks he’s in with a good chance and Chris says Marty obviously sees Chris as the only thing between Marty and winning.

Michelle says the two guys are going at it all competitively but the advantage the two girls have is the help and support from each other. Michelle is sure that one of the two women can actually win this thing. She doesn’t want them to let it slip through their fingers this close to the end. She says every training session this week is going to be hardcore and lots of them!
Munnalita says her motivation today is getting to the final three.
The girls start out with some bike training, then move to the other gym for some kicking training. Michelle says Pati nearly put her through the wall with the strength of her kicks.
After that they do that holding a pushup thing and clap each other’s opposite hand.

Yay, Adro! He strolls back up to the house, where he says he’d changed his life forever.
We get a replay of the moment where Adro realised he’d won the competition.
He says that winning was great and the money was great but it doesn’t compare at all to the quality of life he now has. The one thing he really enjoys from it was being able to inspire other people now.

Munnalita says she was really shocked at how great Adro looked.
Chris says he followed Adro’s journey pretty closely last year because it was such a heroic effort. The underdog coming through and walking away with the win was very inspiring. He’s hoping for the same for himself.

Adro sits them all down for a chat to encourage them and so on. Munnalita and Pati are both really grateful for his advice because they know he’s been there and done that.
Adro says that if you win The Biggest Loser and then gain the weight back and you don’t change for good then you’ve really not gained anything.
Chris says it gives him a lot of hope because Adro has kept his weight off.
Adro says it’s so much easier to maintain a healthy weight than it was to lose it all. It’s much easier to hang onto 1 or 2 kg than it was to drop 60kg.
Chris has been inspired by how nice Adro is and how well he’s done, he’s hoping he’ll be the same in a few months time.

Kim arrives back home to many and varied family members… who are almost all blonde. Or grey. One brunette, that’s it!
2 months on she’s looking a lot better, much thinner. She does about 4 hours a day, 6 days a week of training. Bike riding and walking and running and general activity as well.
A size 26 before going on the show, she’s now a 16-18 pants, sometimes a 14. She’s eating a lot better, fresh foods and vegetables and fish and so on.
She says her family has been blown away by how much weight she’s lost.
She says her face has changed a lot but it hasn’t really changed all that much, just lost a bit of weight under the chin. Her face is still round because that’s just the natural shape of her head.

Tomorrow on the biggest loser it’s time to train the trainers! Marty says the boys will take Shannan and they’ll break him. Then we see a shot of Shannan doing the “bring it onnn, bitch!” gesture at them all.
Later in the week there’ll be another big beach challenge… which will involve digging big holes in the sand, yay!
Also a weigh-in will be held at some point and all four competitors will be present, it seems. Unless they’re being tricksy, which I wouldn’t put past them at this point.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
