Recap #58 – Wednesday 11th April – The Pastel Temptation
Shannan and Michelle arrive at the house and find out Mel has gone home. Shannan is very impressed with the way Mel left. Her medical condition meant she knew she’d do better at home anyway, so she stepped aside to let someone else go through.
The pastels and blackshirts then recap the events of the challenge for the trainers. They get to the end but don’t see a whiteshirt. Gerard’s hiding it under his pastel yellow shirt.
Shannan wonders where old-Gerard’s gone, new-Gerard says Shannan beat the old quitter out of him.
Does anyone else win the whiteshirt tonight? Read on to find out!
Today for training the trainers switch off, Michelle takes the pastels and Shannan takes the blackshirts.
Michelle’s motivation is to push them hard, their motivation to train hard is to get themself a whiteshirt like Gerard. Basically telling them that if the other pastels want to get a whiteshirt like him then they’d better train as hard as him!
Greg’s looking strong, Michelle says. She thinks it’s a good sign that he could be the biggest loser.
Lots and boxing training. Regular standing and punching the mitts and also doing some vertical punching, with one person standing behind the puncher while the puncher throws fists upwards into the mitts.
Shannan says that it’s not his job to flog the contestants anymore, they know what to do now so it’s up to them. Instead of a long training session, it would just be super intense today. “This is the business end of the game, they can’t afford to be tired now.” Shannan says that in relation to how tired they’re all feeling from training so hard all the time.
Munnalita “pushed it to the max” apparently. Lots of focus and determination.
Pati says, “I’ve never wanted anything more in my life than I want this. It’s not about the title, it’s about being there till the end.”
Shannan declares the three girls the strongest in the room today.
Temptation of the pastels!
All they know going out to the drive is that someone would be eliminated and someone would be getting a whiteshirt. Pastels only, today, as well.
6 platters are behind Ajay. Underneath one of them is a white singlet which guarantees them a spot in the qualifying weigh-in.
Underneath another platter is a card, with the words “Game Over” on them. If you get that one you leave the game immediately.
Underneath yet another platter is a Bolwell (?) motorscooter worth over $5,000! (Courtney says he’d really like that.)
Also, a hiking holiday in Vietnam worth over $4,000.
Gourmet chocolates are under another plate, plus a burger and chips under another.
Greg says he’d promised his wife he’d never take part in a Temptation challenge but this time it’s a bit different.
They all have a choice whether or not they want to take part.
6 platters, 8 contestants. First in best dressed.
Marty stands firm, Michael takes a few steps but gives up very quickly, leaving 6 for the 6 who ran.
Damien’s not too surprised that Michael and Marty hadn’t gone, but he was surprised by Greg trying for it. Marty says he’d rather try and win in a competition than taking a gamble.
Damien lifts his platter lid first… And gets a tiny little burger with huge lettuce and tomato slices and 3 french fries. Well within his calorie count, he says!
Courtney lifts his lid and gets a bunch of chocolates. 990 calories worth of chocolate!
Alex is up next. He gets the scooter! From scoota.com.au if anyone wants one for themselves. “I’m gonna break it!” “Oh you will not!” Alex and Kelly.
Kelly’s turn next. She gets exactly what she wanted, the Vietnam holiday! She would have preferred the whiteshirt but she preferred it to the scooter.
It’s down to Laura and Greg for the whiteshirt and the game over.
Greg has a bad feeling because ever since Laura got on the show he’s felt like she’s got luck on her side. Laura says the one person she didn’t want to be up against was Greg because she’s happy to go home but he really wants to stay.
Ajay gets stuck into Greg and says he excels at the challenges, why gamble on this? He says he’s worried the “Super Challenge” will involve some luck anyway.
Laura says she will do her best to be the biggest loser if she gets the whiteshirt. Greg says to mark his words, if there’s a whiteshirt under his platter, he will be the biggest loser. Them’s fightin’ words!
Laura goes first. She lifts the lid and sees… a whiteshirt! Laura is through.
“Fuckmedead, man! Are you serious?” – Greg
He’s regretting his choice now methinks!
Marty says he knew it’d crush Greg because he knew Greg would rather win a challenge so again, surprised Greg did it.
Greg says seeyas, he’s going home and heads off into the house. Alex trots off after him and pulls him up short, offering to take the game over card off him because Greg has a better chance than Alex anyway. Greg refuses, saying there’s a reason it happened. Alex is insistent, keeps holding him back. Greg says he’d feel guilty and Alex says not to worry about it, it’s fine. Marty says it’s admirable of Alex to offer, but the officials wouldn’t allow it to happen anyway.
“I feel like crap!” – Greg, responding to Ajay asking how he feels. He says he’d rather go out fighting 150%, not like this.
Lots of tears, lots of people saying he doesn’t deserve to go out like that, he’s fought and worked hard. Greg says being the biggest loser wasn’t his goal at first, losing weight was. But as he went on he found his pride, got his competitiveness back and while he regrets taking part in the temptation, he’s lost a bunch of weight, he’s learnt how to eat healthily, he looks much younger, his family is all really happy with his progress and he’s happy in general.
Tomorrow night… Commando Steve! Comes in to kick everyone’s arse one more time for a final training session with everyone in the house.
Then later in the week there’s a super challenge to decide who gets the final three whiteshirts. Looks to be another endurance challenge involving some beach running and some swimming. There’s a shot of a card saying “No – Go Back” which I assume means they’re going to have to do laps until they find a “Yes” card? Who knows! Find out later this week.
