Recap #55 – Sunday 8th April – Week 9 Weigh-in and Insta-Elimination Result

Munnalita has her choice awaiting her still, with Damien rapidly approaching from behind. Whoever has the highest calorie item of food will be going home.
Will Munnalita choose wisely? We’ll see…

Eventually Munnalita settles on the peanut butter. Then stands around for a little while and finally remembers she still has to finish the race.
Damien has the eggs and the sausage to choose from. A pork sausage, to be precise. He knows the 3 eggs are around 240 calories. He figures the pork sausage would be high in fat, but maybe not so high in calories?
Courtney’s not sure either.
Damien feels like he’s made the wrong choice as soon as he picks up the plate, but there’s nothing for it but to wait for Ajay’s decision.

About 20-30 minutes later Kimberlie finally rocks up, picks up her sausage and heads for the finish.

Ajay arrives, with the heccylopper in the background, standing behind a wall of bags – the contestants bags.

The food that had the lowest calories was the cheese and crackers snack. So Pati’s safe!
Second lowest was the peanut butter. So Munnalita is, unfortunately, safe!
Third lowest was the sashimi, meaning Courtney is safe.
Chris is freaking out about his “diet” mousse now.
Fourth lowest is the diet chocolate mousse, meaning Chris is safe, sadly. He characterises himself as having “won” the challenge and was worried he’d “trip up” over the “stupid calorie counting stuff.” Um, yeah, the “stupid calorie counting stuff” was part of the challenge – Pati beat you.
It’s down to Kim and Damien with the sausage and the eggs.

The sausage is 190 calories. Uhoh!
Eggs – 225 calories. :-(

Bye bye Damien. Shot of the girls all looking very sad.
Damien says it was a big blow, he would have liked to have completed the journey. “I don’t want to die yet, I’m too young, I’m only 34, I’m not ready to die yet.”

Ajay asks him if there’s anything he’d like to say to people at home and he says that you can’t let being overweight hold you back, you’re capable of doing anything if you put your mind to it. Get off your arse and go to the gym or go for a walk. Watch your calories, learn what calories are what, even though he’s not a good example of that today.
“Kick arse, guys, go hard, I know you always do.” – Damien to his fellow contestants before leaving.
Courtney whispers in Damien’s ear as they hug that it’s been an honor and a privilege and tells him to battle on and take out the eliminated contestants prize!
Pati says he’s a great guy, she feels like witnessing his progress has helped her though as well.
Munnalita says they’ve been through everything together and he’s been there since day one. She doesn’t want him to let anything hold him back, not his weight, not anything. “Hopefully you’ll be pregnant next time I see you!” – Damien to Munnalita, who replies, “Yeah, hopefully!”

Damien has a pretty small bag. That looks more like one set of clothes for him, not all the bits and bobs he would’ve taken and certainly not his guitar and such. Mmmmm, stage-bag!

Courtney says that Damien was the king of the blue team and now the whole blue team is gone. Poor Shannan, even Bob doesn’t lose this bad normally!

Now a special catch up with Laura.
She’s looking a lot better as well. Not as much better as Mel looked, but looks very nice. Is still fairly quietly spoken, but she’s obviously a much happier person.

Michelle and Shannan arrive at the NZ house… for last chance training.
But first they have to tell them that Damien’s gone home. Shannan doesn’t understand and when he realises what they mean, he’s shattered. Really visibly upset.
Shannan says it’s hard to put into words how much Damien has changed since coming to the house. Not just losing the weight but also the attitude change. He’s much more proud, determined and responsible. He’s sure Damien will continue to make him proud.

But before they do last chance training, Shannan and Michelle have presents, ooh! Pretty bone carvings.
Kim’s signifies new beginnings and new life. Each time she looks at it Shannan wants her to remember how far she’s come.
Michelle gives Munnalita a tiki, which symbolises many things, but she had to get it specifically for Munnalita because one of the main things it symbolises is… fertility!
Pati gets a fish hook, because it represents determination, strength and a safe passage over water! “Where was that the other day?!” – Pati
Courtney’s is an “Eternity Twist” which means bonding and friendship forever. “Friends forever, buddy!” BFF?!
Chris’ is from Shannan and his symbolises harmony in nature, to remind him that everything needs to be kept in balance. “Head of a bird, body of a man and a tail of a fish.” Manaya? Probably spelt wrong.

Chris says he thinks all the gifts are spot on and he thinks it shows that the trainers really do know them all.

I’m wondering what they would’ve got for Damien?

They have all sorts of weird ghetto training equipment. Sandbags, sawhorses, pulling firewood on pulleys slung from trees… and a box pallet on the ground with a rope attached that let’s Shannan have a lie down on it and one of the Fatties gets to pull it along. Michelle demonstrates the pulling bit, not very successfully, though she does manage to shift him a couple of metres.

Now that Damien has gone, Kim is actually the biggest left in the house and so she knows she needs to do the biggest number in kilos in order to stay above the yellow line.

Shannan says Munnalita was a powerhouse today, she’s really determined.
Michelle says Courtney was the most impressive in her opinion, he was working as hard as he could, harder than he ever had, and he’s looking really strong.

Chris notices “a few key people” working hard, particularly Pati who he thinks is due for a big drop.
Pati’s not sure Chris can repeat his huge numbers from previous weeks.
Shannan’s not expecting huge numbers from anyone due to all the shakeup in the routine.
Chris thinks Courtney will drop the most this week, as he’s really pushed himself.
Kim thinks Chris is crazy, hammering his training in Last Chance, which isn’t going to matter this late on.

Munnalita is still convinced she can be the first Australian female Biggest Loser.
Only if the guys both get eliminated!

Now we catch up with Marty… again!
Just like before, he’s looking great. He’s skinny now, not just not overweight anymore, his whole body shape has changed. Still looks happy as can be, but that was always how Marty behaved!

And now the Fatties trundle into the weigh-in room back at the White House.
Munnalita’s not confident and she thinks that maybe her and Pati will end up below the line.
Chris is scared, shit-scared, that he’d be going home. He’s worked hard he says but he doesn’t think it’s going to be enough.

Ajay confirms that even though we just lost Damien, there will still be an elimination this week. Ridiculous!
There will be two people below the line, three people above. There’s no immunities in play, there’s no bonuses or penalties to weights.

Munnalita gets to go first. She’s the second biggest loser so far, behind Chris, having lost 32kg so far. She’s nervous as she walks up to the scales.
Week 9: 92.9kg – LOSS: 2.4kg
“That’s a relief!” She’s extremely happy with 2.4kg because putting on that much weight while climbing the mountain made her realise just how much weight it really is.
Now that she’s lost a bunch of weight she feels she’s much closer to getting pregnant now.

Munnalita’s percentage: 2.52%

Pati’s up next. She thinks she’s put on weight so she’d already worked out what she was going to say and was thinking how to cope with the shame factor.
Week 9: 90.0kg – LOSS: 2.6kg
She’s “very very very very happy!”
Pati tells us again that her relationship with her Mum isn’t great and her sister pretty much raised her. Putting on weight was a way to protect herself but now she’s aware it’s not a healthy way of dealing with it.
“Come here my little Valentine!” – Courtney to Pati?

Pati’s percentage: 2.81% (first place currently)

Chris is up next, he’s lost 44.7kg and is the biggest loser so far. He’ll need to have lost at least 3kg to guarantee himself a place above the line. An aside has him saying he felt like telling her he’s probably put on a couple of kilos so “good luck with that!” He’s freaking out, sweating and so on. He says he knows that if he’s below the line he’s definitely going home and he’s made his peace with that.
Week 9: 101kg – LOSS: 3.8kg
“Yeah!”
Pati says you have to admit he’s worked hard. Chris is worried and his heart is beating fast and he’s trying to calm down.

Chris’ percentage: 3.63% (first now)

Munnalita thinks she’s not a good chance to keep sliding down the line.

Courtney’s up next, he’ll need to have lost at least 3.1kg, which would force Munnalita below the yellow line. Ha!
Week 9: 107.9kg – LOSS: 0.8kg
Courtney’s pretty unimpressed. It guarantees him a spot under the yellow line.
Ajay sort of shrugs, improving her cleavage even further, and says at least it’s still a loss!
Courtney says he’s been there since Day One, he’s one of the three original people still left. He says he hasn’t laughed and had so much fun in a long time. Without Pati and Munnalita in there, he’s not sure he would’ve wanted to be in there at all. He’s going to miss them!
Chris is pretty shocked because Courtney’s been putting in the effort, so he’s not sure what’s going on. Munnalita says Courtney is right, he’s like a brother and Pati’s like a sister to her as well.

Courtney’s percentage: 0.74%

Kim will need to have lost at least 2.9kg to stay above the yellow line and force Munnalita to join Courtney below the line. Chris is hoping she won’t make it! Pati thinks if Kim is below the line, people will take her out – or she knows she will at least!
Week 9: 110.4kg – LOSS: 4.2kg
Oooooh! Kim says it was the best feeling, she doesn’t even care that it means she’s staying in the game, it means so much more to her that she’s lost a lot of weight.
She says she would’ve liked to lose a tiny bit more because that would have put her under the 110kg mark.
She says her and Damien last week were the only “morbidly obese” people still in the house and now this week she’s gone from morbidly obese to just obese, which is a big step for her. She also says the money doesn’t mean that much to her, she’s going to be happier with her family being proud of her.

Kim’s percentage: 3.66% (first place by 0.03%!)

Munnalita and Courtney are both below the line. Argh! Please don’t do the sympathy vote to keep Munnalita in the house! They’re going to go with their heads and vote Courtney out, aren’t they, AREN’T THEY?

Munnalita really feels for Pati because she has to choose between herself and Courtney which would be really hard. Courtney says it’s really upsetting for him because they’ve been together since the beginning.

Damien arrives home to a bunch of people, yay!
2 months on… Wow. He’s still a really solid guy, but there’s obviously plenty of muscle under that fat now. He manages to run upstairs with his trainer and so on.
He’s even happy eating the healthier diet he’s on now.
48″ waist… down from 70″!
His face has gone down a lot, so much less rounded than he was. Still cleanshaven, too!
68kg total loss, down from 9XL to 3XL.

Next time the oldest friendship in the game is going to be torn apart. PLEASE, vote Munnalita out, damn you!
Chris says he’s struggled for hours over his decision. It looks like Pati may have been put last in the voting as well, which could make things really interesting if Chris and Kim have voted differently.
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
