Recap #49 – Sunday 1st April – Week 8 Weigh-in With Another Biggest Loser First!

Awww, Bob and Jillian’s last day in the house again already?!

They’re both very impressed with everyone’s times, Bob is particularly happy that Damien ended up winning.
“Got a little bit more of a workout, I’d say.” – Bob. :-D

Want to know the results of the weigh-in? Read on to find out… Or not, it’s not that interesting really, perhaps the boringest weigh-in EVAR!

Or I’m lying. It’s one of the two. You’ll have to see how things unfold for yourself!

But now, it’s time to workout!
Bob points out that it’s the first time they’ve been on their own and not had a teammate to hide behind.
Kimberlie told Bob a week ago that she couldn’t run, but today she’s running for Bob. Bob loves working her out. She manages to get up to 13km/h while still insisting she’s not running, she’s shuffling. Bob says it’s not like any shuffle he’s ever seen!

Damien is impressing him as usual. Bob gets him down on the ground to hold a pushup, then hops up on his back and counts him down. The last time he does it his counting starts out like 10, 9, 8, 7, then moves on to 6. 5. 4.. 3… 2…. 1….. Done!

Jillian says much the same to the peeps she’s training, saying that it’s the first time they’ve not had anyone else to rely on.
Courtney says they’ve done spin classes with Michelle before, but this was a Jillian workout. She’s got them doing the spin bikes and weights and pushups and so on. Pati says she had them doing pushups on the bikes while they keep pedalling, including tricep pushups, which Pati says killed her because she doesn’t have triceps!

Jillian asks them what tomorrow is? (Weigh in day!) Does it matter? And she doesn’t stop asking them until they emphatically say yes it matters!
Marty was shocked by his numbers last week so he’s glad he has immunity this week!
Pati says it was a very big week outside the gym, temptations and makeovers and so on so they’re all a bit on edge because they haven’t had the hours in the gym they wanted.

Back with Bob and Chris is complaining the treadmill is too fast, though Bob doesn’t think so. Chris says he’s feeling weak and dizzy and Bob asks about his calories. Chris says a bit more than a thousand.
Bob is fairly unimpressed with Chris’ efforts, saying he wants to see more strength from him. No upper body strength, no fuel in the tank. He’s struggling to lift 7kg weights, couldn’t get them above his head at all. Bob gets concerned when Chris can’t even manage to do one single pushup.
Then Bob does the thing where he stands above your head and gets you to raise your legs up in the air while you’re lying down, then “throws” your feet back towards the ground. The idea is to not let them touch the ground, then lift them back up to be thrown down again. Repeat ad nauseum.
Chris is struggling. His feet keep flopping onto the ground and that doesn’t count as “1” for Bob. Bob’s getting a bit frustrated, “Don’t let your feet touch the fucking ground, how’s that?” Damien felt like he might’ve been being a bit harsh, but he says to be honest, he thought it was warranted because Chris wasn’t doing what Bob knew he was capable of.
Eventually I think Bob took it a little easy on him by not throwing his feet so hard and he eventually manages to get a couple in a row finished.
Bob says he wanted to show Chris how weak you get when you don’t eat the way you should.

Now a special catchup with Mel.
Oh my god we wants it! We neeeeeds it! She looks fantastic! Has a great body shape now, looks tanned and terrific and has biceps like you wouldn’t believe!

Back at the house Bob takes Chris aside for a chat about his progress. Bob thinks Chris is taking “the game” a bit too seriously when there’s so much more to it than that. “Dude, there’s so much more to this than just the game!”
Bob says to him that Chris is still in the mindset that he needs to reduce the calories as much as possible to lose weight. Chris has told Bob that he’s on 1,000-1,200 calories a day and that’s really not enough, he needs to be on 1,600 calories or so. Chris says he’s been feeling pretty rotten and Bob tells him that if he starts eating more he’ll start feeling a heap better. He might lose a heap of weight at the weigh-in tomorrow but it’ll catch up with him in the long run.
Bob’s aside has him saying that you need to eat to lose weight!
Chris says he knew the others saw him as a threat as soon as he came in and Bob says he thought that too, but then seeing him in Last Chance today he thought no way Chris is a threat, he’s not strong enough! Chris sort of laughs half-heartedly at that.
Chris says he’s going to take what Bob’s said onboard because he can see Bob’s point.

Jillian takes Courtney aside next. She tells him that of all the transformations, his has probably been the most significant. (“Really?!”) His turnaround has renewed the part of her that gets jaded. She says in her aside that he’s giving his best, he works hard, is optimistic. Not only helpful towards others but also open to letting other people help him.
Courtney is really happy with Jillian’s happiness. Hooray!

Bob takes Damien aside. And he’s really happy with Damien’s progress. In his aside he says that Damien gives him the drive to keep doing what he (Bob) does.
Damien’s a little concerned about the weigh-in because it’s been an up and down week for training this week. (Ha haaa! Get it! Up and down? Nevermind.)
In his diary vid he says he thinks a lot of people haven’t been putting in as much work as they should’ve.
Bob thinks if Damien puts his mind to it, he could win the show.

And now a special catchup with Mel’s duo buddy Greg!
Greg’s looking pretty good. His outfit does not suit him at all. Checked vest and business pants. Then he gets in a white T which looks silly. But he’s way thinner and looks a lot happier, which is impressive given that he was generally one of the happier bouncier competitors.

But now it’s time for Bob and Jillian to say goodbye again.
Jillian’s sitting on the lounge beside Pati… With her sneakered feet tucked up on the lounge. Tsk tsk tsk!
Bob says they’re all now going to be thinking about where they’re going next. Make sure you learn everything you can in the house, make the best out of your time remaining, because it could be gone like that! *snaps fingers*

Jillian says in a side bit that she thinks the best bit of the week for her was Courtney beating her up the stairs during the challenge. She didn’t think that would ever happen, let alone the brat that walked out of her workouts!
Bob’s highlight was the makeover day. He thought Damien’s was so sweet, he just wanted to put on a pair of jeans! Bob was really glad to be there for that.
Marty says he thought the best bit was Bob and Jillian both calling him Skinny. He’s never been called skinny!
Courtney says he wasn’t really that close to Jillian when she was first there but the second time around he was much closer to her and he now considers her to be one of the pivotal people in his life.

Bob’s going to miss Damien the most. He’s so proud that he’s had a tiny part in Damien’s transformation.
“It’s so Mary Poppins, but our job here is done. They’re ready to move forward. It’s time for us to go home.” – Jillian

Bob looks back up the driveway as they head off and has to ask himself why he’s leaving at all!

The terrible trio regroup upstairs in one of the bedrooms to chat about the weigh-in.
Courtney thinks Chris will probably lose the most weight. Pati says she thinks he’s the wildcard because he hasn’t aligned himself with anyone, they don’t know how he’ll vote.
Munnalita thinks Chris is obsessed with training. Pati says they were sitting on the lounge once and Chris just randomly got up and did 20 pushups. They decide that Chris is a younger version of Marty!
Munnalita has an aside saying that it’s fine to be training hard during training, but then when they’re supposed to be taking time off to relax he’ll get up and do some more pushups again. Apparently other people aren’t allowed to work hard to put in back numbers, only Munnalita is allowed to do that and only if it’s a week in which her and her partner are threatened and only if there’s no chocolate temptations around and no one is mean to her so she doesn’t have to eat 14 tubs of chocolate mousse and…
Munnalita also says that if Chris falls below the yellow line, it’ll definitely be him going home.

Damien doesn’t think he’s going to get a big number but he doesn’t think anyone else will either. Pati thinks only Chris will put in a good number, if anyone does.
Marty says it’s a scary time with everyone putting in such poor numbers last week, there’s a good chance it’ll happen again this week.
Chris is very excited to be an individual because then his result is down to him alone.

Ajay reminds us all that Marty was very very lucky in the temptation challenge, beating the odds to pick out an immunity chocolate out of 1,000 other chocolates (or 950 other chocolates that didn’t have immunity under them…) so he has immunity. Unless he has put on weight in which case he will automatically be up for elimination.

Courtney gets to go first this week. He’s fairly philosophical about it. He’s thinking he might’ve put on some or at least not lost much. As he’s getting up there he comments to Ajay that Marty should’ve gone first (immune contestants tend to go first) so it’s probably not a good sign.
Week 8: 108.7kg – LOSS: 1.8kg
“I don’t get how the human body works, Ajay.” He goes on to say he didn’t train as hard this week, didn’t watch the diet so well, yet he lost 1.1kg more than last week. He responds to Ajay’s enquiry by saying he didn’t think he’d make it above the yellow line going in today, but as the show has gone on he already considers himself a winner anyway. In his post-weigh-in interview he says that now when he looks in the mirror, he’s no longer disgusted. He’s looked back at what he’s done in the house since arriving and has been wondering how he ever thought he was useless because he’s not!

Courtney’s Percentage: -1.63%

Pati’s very nervous, as usual. She says they’ve upped their calorie intake but haven’t gotten into the gym as often as they would’ve liked.
Week 8: 92.6kg – LOSS: 1.5kg
She’s very disappointed by that. She’s happy she lost something though! She’s worried she still may fall below the yellow line, however.

Pati’s Percentage: -1.59%

Oh hey, guess what, Munnalita’s nervous! Particularly in view of her 0 last week.
Week 8: 95.3kg – LOSS: 2.6kg
She’s fairly happy with that. Says they were all hoping for bigger numbers this week.
You know. You know. You know. You know. You know. Sorry, not putting all the bits in between, you know!

Munnalita’s Percentage: -2.66% (Putting her in first place, meaning she’s safe from elimination as the worst she can do is third last and only two people get to be below the line.)

Kim is concerned because she knows if she goes below the line and she’s not against Chris she’s probably gone.
Week 8: 114.6kg – LOSS: 4.8kg
Whoa! Very good. Ajay reminds her that she thought she was going to take an hour to get up the stairs but she took under 20 minutes.

Kim’s Percentage: -4.02% (New first place! Also definitely above the yellow line.)
She’s happy as this ensures at least one more week in the house.

Munnalita and Marty both say that everyone is hoping Chris will go below the yellow line because he’s rubbed everyone up the wrong way in the house and they all want him out!
Chris is a bit anxious and nervous even though he’s sure he’s done a lot of work.
Week 8: 104.8kg – LOSS: 7kg
“Feels good! Feels damn good!” Ajay asks him what’s his secret and Chris says that every spare moment he’s exercising because he’s always thinking that if he goes below the line he’ll think back to that 5 minutes he was sitting down or something.
“The dream is to compete and the dream is to win!” – Chris

Chris’ Percentage: -6.26% (Yes, another new first place! Also definitely above the yellow line.)
Courtney and Pati are still in danger at this point and this makes Munnalita realise that one of the original folks is definitely going to be going home now.

Damien’s hoping for “any weightloss”.
Week 8: 173kg – GAIN: 2.4kg
Damien’s horrified. He doesn’t know how you can have a calorie controlled diet, training every day and still put on weight. It’s ridiculous. He feels terrible because the show is about weightloss, not putting it back on.
Ajay asks him if he’s ready to face the real world and Damien says he’d like to think so but after seeing that result he’s worried because he thought he was doing the right thing and still put on weight.
Marty’s devastated for him but is also thinking that if Damien put on weight, so could Marty, which would remove his immunity and would also guarantee he’d be under the yellow line.

Damien’s Percentage: 1.41%

If Marty has lost any weight at all, he will be above the yellow line due to his immunity and will push Pati below the line. If he has put on any weight at all, he will be automatically below the line.

Marty steps up.
Week 8: 121kg – GAIN: 1.1kg
“What the hell’s going on around here?!” – Courtney
Damien says the look on everyone’s face was astonished. Munnalita actually looks to be hiding her glee, but everyone else looks suitably distraught.
Marty is now facing elimination with Damien.

Marty says the others will have to vote head or heart. He doesn’t say that either way he’ll be voted out. He’s both the biggest loser so far and the less liked of the two below the line. He’s basically doomed at this point.

Marty’s Percentage: 0.92%

This is the first time in Biggest Loser history that both contestants below the yellow line have put on weight.
Marty’s aside he says that he’s been eliminated before for being the biggest threat and now he’s facing it again.

Ajay also says that he’s now no longer the biggest loser – he’s third, behind Chris and Munnalita.

Tomorrow night Marty is going to break down in tears in the loungeroom. Chris has apparently managed to lose so much weight by having a lobotomy as he can’t understand why Marty might be upset.
They’re also going to be starting a week long journey of discovery! Or something. They’re leaving on a jet plane, don’t know where the hell they’re going or if they’ll be back again!
