Recap #47 – Thursday 29th March – Up the stairs, down the stairs, up the stairs…

“Temptation I hear? Was it good or bad?” – Bob
Bob asks if anyone indulged in the Temptation and they all admitted that they had. And how many? Just one! And Marty got it on his first one!
Bob’s thinking that since Marty has immunity, Chris needs to be in the gym RIGHT NOW! Doing jumping jacks or something because if he’s not, he’s going to be gone this week!

But there’s also another challenge tonight. How will the contestants deal with their latest ordeal? Read on to find out!

Jillian says that now it’s time to find out how much the contestants have learnt about healthy eating, since they’d just done a very unhealthy Temptation challenge.
The contestants are all going to make one meal each to show Bob and Jillian the sort of thing they’d be having for lunch at the moment. They have one hour!

Damien’s cooking a veggietastic soup.
Courtney says two months ago he wouldn’t’ve cooked his own lunch he would have gone out and bought it, meat pie or takeaway food or something like that. He’s learnt that healthy eating doesn’t have to mean just a lettuce leaf. They’ve used that clip before! Or he’s just fond of lettuce leaves.
Pati seems to be under the (mistaken) impression that you don’t need to use salt, butter or oil to make food taste good.
Chris says he can’t cook at all, he can only deep fry things and such. So he keeps it fairly simple and makes a big salad with a bit of everything. Actually doesn’t look too bad, has some cooked chicken in it and so on.

Bob and Jillian are really impressed by the spread the Fatties put out. Bob barely believes that they really cooked it all themselves!
Munnalita’s is up first, it’s chicken with garlic and chili on it. Bob says it’s fantastic, Jillian says superb!
Marty’s got a steamed barramundi with assorted steamed veggies, which Bob says looks exactly like the sort of thing he has every day.
Kimberlie’s cooked some chili and garlic prawns which look fantastic. Jillian digs in and seems to really love them as she has more than one! Bob sticks to the stir fried vegetables, which he asks what she used for oil for and Kim says just the spray-on oil. Jillian asks if they’ve been using salt for any of them and they all shake their heads no.
Jillian then tries Courtney’s steak which she says, in her aside, was the worst *by far*. Not the worst for you, just the worst tasting, but she didn’t have the heart to tell him!
Thai hot and sour soup is what Damien made. Bob asks again if they really did make it all themselves and is this how they’ve been eating because it’s all really, really good!
Chris says Bob and Jillian were impressed by everyone’s but they could tell with his that it was very definitely homemade. Bob says that Chris got it spot on with his chicken salad-y thing.
Pati is last with some salmon. Some vegetables on the side, of course.

Jillian says they all obviously know how to eat right now, but when on the outside it might be a bit more challenging.

Heading off to the challenge everyone is in their black shirt with the weight printed on the front, which doesn’t tell them much about what they’re doing.
They arrive in the city at the World Tower or something? And head up to the 74th floor to a suite with a nice view of the city, can see right across to Centerpoint where they had their first challenge.

Bob says if they had to do their first challenge again today, it’d be nothing. So it needs to be ramped up!
Pati says, “I kind of got a bit anxious then. Being 74 flights up you kind of realise that that’s a lot of… stairs.”
They’re about 220 metres from the bottom, over 1,300 steps!

All the contestants have to climb from the bottom to the top, individually, one after another.
Bob thinks he sees smoke come out of Damien’s ears when that’s revealed! Damien says he used to live in a townhouse with stairs in the middle and he used to get a bit out of breath at the top and that was only around 15 steps… and he was about to try and do 1,300?
There’s a bit of a crowd outside to watch him start.

They’re also being timed. Chris first starts trying to run all the way but that didn’t work out too well and he slows down after a short while.
Munnalita knows it’ll probably be the hardest challenge. Courtney doesn’t mind running too much but as soon as you throw steps in? Nup, he doesn’t like that!

Marty says part of him wants to quit but he made Alex leave in Week 1 and how would he feel to see Marty quit?

Bob says they’re ready for this challenge now, it requires endurance and they have that now!

Kim doesn’t care what time she gets, so long as she finishes.

Damien is struggling a lot. Bob tells him he’s doing something a 216kg man never would have been capable of doing. He ends up with a time under 20 minutes which is very impressive. I was expecting Damien to come in at more like an hour? Not due to a lack of determination, just because it is such a very long way up! Bob is extremely proud of him. He says he knows people his own size who couldn’t do it that quick! 19mins 29secs is his total time.

Pati finishes in just 12mins 42secs! And she didn’t stop at any way up the tower, even though she wanted to.

18mins 27secs for Kim.

11mins 11secs for Marty, who had wanted to quit back on the 5th floor.

14mins 31secs for Munnalita? Who just pushed as hard as she could?

11mins 7secs for Chris.

Courtney didn’t think he could get up all those stairs, hardest thing he’s ever done. And his time? 10mins 16secs. He beat both Chris and Marty!

After the get to the top Bob or Jillian takes each one to see their lifesized cutouts.
Marty’s first, says it makes him appreciate the journey. His cutout even looks unhappy and bulges and such. “You used to be sexy, but you’re not. Look at me, this is sexy!” Funny mannnnn.

Kim’s next. Bob says he loves the cardboard cutout stuff because it really shows the difference. Kim likes it because she looks so much different now. She’s very proud of what she’s managed to do, especially with living a normal life before getting into the house.

Chris is shaken up a bit at seeing his one, he doesn’t want to look but eventually ends up staring at it, thinking that that guy was going to have a heart attack real soon. He wants one to take home to stick to the fridge to remind him next time he wants something to eat.

Courtney bitches about being made to run up 74 flights of stairs to see this! (Good naturedly, not whiningly.) He says he’s changed a bit around the face and stands beside his cutout for Jillian to compare, which is when she says the “Shocking!” bit. He does look very different. Courtney points to his heart and his head and says that’s where the main changes have happened.

Pati didn’t know she’d gotten that big, she had no real idea. But she’s never going back to that. Jillian asks her if she thinks she can win the game, because she thinks Pati could be formidable. Pati has trouble saying she thinks she can win. But she thinks she’s smart and strong and a nice person so she thinks she’s in with a good chance.

Damien walks in to see his cutout and has a bit of an angry reaction to it, decking cardboard Damien with a swift punch! Bob wants Damien to remember old-Damien, new-Damien wants him to go away and never come back! Bob wants him to remember that Damien because he’s the one that needed new-Damien’s help.
Damien says in his aside that perhaps he ought to have punched himself in the head when he was that big but that maybe coming on the show was the punch in the head he needed. He says to Bob that he can’t express how much he and Shannan have changed his life. He couldn’t’ve done it without them. “You’re good, mate!” Bob says.

Jillian asks Munnalita if she sees herself in the old Munnalita anymore and Munnalita says she sees someone who wasn’t happy, a lot sadder, always unhappy, and really angry all the time. She thinks maybe she just hated herself?
Jillian says that old-Munnalita needs some more love and if new-Munnalita can’t give it to her, Jillian’s worried about her.
Jillian gets Munnalita to say something to her old-self and she says, “You have everything it takes to be who you want to be, you can leave everything behind, you can get their on your own. You’re more amazing than you know.”

Bob and Jillian sit them all down for a chat and then Ajay wanders into the room?
Ajay is there to tell them they’re about to prove to themself, and to a loved one, that they have more to give. It’s time to go back down to the ground floor for your second ascent, the goal is to smash their original time. Only the contestant who beats their previous time by the biggest margin will get to spend the night in luxury with their loved one!

I bet Courtney’s regretting setting such a blistering fast time now!

Tomorrow night everyone’s going to go hard but only one person is going to reap the rewards. Who will win? No idea, but Ajay does say it ends up being incredibly close!
