Recap #41 – Thursday 22nd March – The Outsiders Go Walking Outside For The Walk

Everyone heads outside to wait for Chris and Kim to go on the Walk.
Marty thinks that getting to go on the walk gives them an unfair advantage, Pati also thinks it stinks because the outsiders don’t even know the current contestants.
Kimberlie knows they’re not real impressed.
And hey, Courtney will be pissed if anything bad happens from it, in case anyone had any doubts about his reaction!

Want to know what else happened tonight? Read on!

Chris and Kim aren’t real impressed with getting to go. Kim thinks maybe one of them would be eliminated on the spot, or maybe one of them would lose immunity.

Courtney is sitting in bed and Munnalita wanders in to tell him she hates that they have this power now.
Courtney thinks it might be a death sentence to two people in the house and maybe even him and Munnalita. And in his aside he says he doesn’t want either of those two to win, he’d rather see any of the other 5 win than the two Outsiders. Which I think is understandable.

The others sit down for a bit of a chat, Laura usually has an inkling of what it might be but this week she has no idea.
Marty thinks maybe it’ll be swapping duos around, or picking a duo to weigh-in early or some such.
“Imagine if it said ‘haha you’re going home!'” – Laura, who giggles. “That’s cruel! … But I like it!” – Marty
They’re hoping that what it’ll be is that they’ll lose immunity in some way. Worst case was that maybe they’d have to eliminate someone.

Shannan and Michelle rock up with Laura/Damien and Pati/Marty doing some warmup training in the gym. Michelle’s wearing a cute little black outfit with a bit of exposed belly… She has a tatt!
Shannan asks Laura and Damien how the punishment room was and asks if they got any training done. As we saw last night, he’d been checking up on them via the hidden camera. Will they lie?
They slept for a half hour or so and neither wanted to get up afterwards. Once they eventually got up, they did some boxing into pillows, kicking, some pushups and back stretches and situps and so on. Shannan was quite pleased with what they made of their lack of equipment.

Michelle has everyone for training today. Courtney’s first cab off the rank for one on one training. She wants to get him hungry again for the competition and training, because he’s been down a bit since Mel left.
She’s got him doing some chinups. Courtney says he’s never been able to do chinups before in his life, but today he managed to do it! Everyone is very impressed with him.
It actually ended up being a lot more intense than Michelle thought it would be, because Courtney needed to get some stuff off his chest.
Courtney’s upset because they’ve all been living together a while now and Mel had been his best friend on the Blue team, so it sucked to have to vote her out. Michelle has started to see the softer side of Courtney. He says he gives 100% sometimes, 80% sometimes, but Mel always gave 110%. “She had a flame, and it was extinguished.” GAY MY ACHING ASS. Bwah.
He also tells Michelle that he wants to keep Damien in the show because he’s been such an inspiration and he’ll inspire thousands more people than Courtney ever could.
Michelle says he’s finally learning how to put other people before himself.
“Slowly, brick by brick, the walls have been coming down.” He goes on to say that if you do let people in, not everyone is out to get you.

Oh yay, new people to tell us about the walk to The Walk!
Chris is worried about losing immunity, they need a week to settle in and he thinks the first reaction of everyone will be to get rid of the new guys. Would make you wonder why the producers even bothered to give them immunity if they do that, wouldn’t it?

The Walk today will impact the next Major Challenge, Ajay says. The next challenge will be… The Commando’s challenge! Cue cheesy grins from the two Outsiders, who’ve been training with Steve for weeks by this point. Chris says he was cheering at that point.
They’ll need to perform well at the challenge because if they lose, they will lose immunity!

Stones, four, around them again.
1. Choose another duo to get a time penalty. A 5 minute penalty for the next major challenge. Not allowed to choose themselves.
2. Choose another duo to get a time advantage. A 5 minute bonus. Not allowed to choose themselves.
3. Choose any duo to get the Commando “for the next challenge”. Could be an advantage, or a hindrance. And they may choose him for themselves, should they wish. They really want this one!
4. Choose another duo to get the Commando “for the next challenge”. But they can’t choose themselves with that stone.
Kim doesn’t want #4 because it would be like Steve is cheating on them… But it could also be good, because existing people have been struggling, they’ve heard, with the Commando’s tough training.

Kim had her stone picked out from the start. She doesn’t care which one Chris wants, she chooses for them both.

Chris and Kim return to everyone in the lounge, very unsure how they were going to react. Courtney was expecting something nasty!
They explain the four options.
“What’dyaget? What’dyaget? What’dyaget?” – Marty
They got #4. But they don’t tell the other contestants that they’re going to lose their immunity should they lose the challenge.

Chris takes Pati and Marty aside for a chat. Chris says in his aside that his first thought was to give the Commando to that duo, due to Marty’s personal problems with The Commando, which means he might snap again which would give Chris and Kim an advantage.

Kim is chatting with Damien and Laura. Damien really wants The Commando, because he really wants any advantage they can get. Kim kind of wants to give it to them, because of Laura’s problems with Steve, so maybe she wouldn’t train or perform at her peak. We’re treated to another teary Laura replay clip during that bit.
Laura feels like she could handle him now, they’ve got more respect for each other.

Munnalita and Courtney try to convince Kim to give them the Commando. They figure if it is an advantage, they don’t want anyone else to benefit.
Kim asks how they’ve gone with him before. Courtney admits they’ve had a bit of a bicker before.
Kim is expecting that Courtney might not handle Steve so well, so she’s leaning that way a bit, especially since she sees them as the weaker pair.

Kim and Chris sit down afterwards for a chat. Kim says maybe it’s not an advantage at all, it might be a disadvantage.
Kim wants to give it to the weaker pair of Munnalita and Courtney, but Chris wants to give it to Pati and Marty.
Kim says her final decision was pretty much what she thought as soon as she turned the rock over. And she eventually gets Chris to come round to her way of thinking.

Courtney’s not really nervous, but curious, because it’ll show how they’re playing the game. If it was him, he’d be looking out for his best interests.
Chris says it was nothing personal because they don’t know them too well. They said they knew who’d won the last two challenges and so the only fair thing was to give it to… Courtney and Munnalita? Erm, okay. Courtney wonders if he heard it right as well, he didn’t expect it either.
Pati thinks it’s smart of them, trying to be noble. Marty’s not sure he believes them. Chris is hoping that a session with the Commando will wear Courtney down a bit. Munnalita is hoping it’ll be a positive, with the Commando providing motivational style help during the Challenge.

Tomorrow night there’s a split growing between Chris and Kim, with Kim saying Chris is there to win the money while she’s there solely for the weightloss. I certainly believe that – no one who takes regular trips to Bali can seriously need $200,000, can they?
Also, Major Challenge is indeed to build a raft and it looks like the Commando will be able to offer advice to Courtney and Munnalita in building their raft, which he’d presumably done before as part of his own training, if not instructing his trainees on doing it.
Sounds like the losing team will get a 1kg penalty, but it’s not entirely clear. I wish they’d dump that style of penalty!
Tune in tomorrow, it looks like a lot of folk are going to get a lot of water on them. Should be fun!
