Recap #40 – Wednesday 21st March – Major Challenge Night? But it’s only Wednesday!
Please note: Due to the stupidity of Kimberlie’s name, she is henceforth being referred to as Kim in every instance after the first in an episode. I’m not brutalising my mind with that horrible misspelling multiple times a night, I’m just not!
Oh and there’s a challenge tonight. Logs. Lots of logs. Who wins?
Read on to find out!
The fatties head outside the house all kitted out in fat people overalls and hats.
“Prepare yourselves for a grueling, energy sapping ordeal. Here come the trucks!”
“How big are the trucks?” “Awww, it’s timber, it’s wood!” Courtney and Munnalita.
Dump trucks roll up and dump 4 loads of timber. 16 tonnes in total, 4 tonne per couple. Each couple will be shackled together and tasked with carrying their pile from one end of the lawn to the other.
First duo to finish will get a massage and two all expense holidays to Vanuata, staying in a luxury resort, etc.
Last to finish will be locked in a room by themselves for 24 hours, no gym training, no trainers!
Marty’s worried Chris may be faster and stronger than himself, since he’s younger and not been a fatty for so long.
Kim has no idea which team is strong, which ones do well and so on.
Chris and Kim decide not to run during the challenge, they figured it would come down to endurance so they just keep going at a steady walk all the way through. Damien and Laura are pacing themselves as well, mostly due to Damien’s bad back.
Everyone has their eye on Chris and Kim to see how good they are.
It’s mostly between Pati/Marty and Chris/Kim during the early stages.
Courtney says him and Munnalita didn’t want to win because it’ll make them a target. Chris and Kim don’t want to either because they’ll just piss people off.
Damien’s not sure he’s going to be able to finish, Laura says that yes he is! But his back gets more and more sore as he goes on. Laura tries to lie him down for some stretching which helps a little. But the big fella is doing it very tough.
1 hour 40 minutes in and they’ve made pretty good progress but there’s a lot to go!
Damien and Laura are managing to keep up despite Damien having to have a bit of a lie down for a while.
It’s a little hard to judge who’s winning because pretty much everyone is stacking theirs in different ways… Except Courtney and Munnalita who aren’t even bothering with stacking!
Munnalita says they’ve been doing it for 2.5 hours and not even halfway through! She also says that the key is to just pick them up and not think about the weight.
Courtney was getting a bit pissed at Munnalita because she kept picking stupid shapes that didn’t stack together well for carrying.
“I feel like going over there and kicking their pile over!” – Courtney
Pati and Marty are keeping a slow lope going. Marty wants to stop jogging, but Pati won’t let him, keeps pushing him along, which he says is “inspirational”.
Chris and Kim are used to working together, having done so a lot in their earlier training. They think they’re actually a bit ahead, but they’re aiming for around third so they’re trying to keep an eye on everyone else’s pile.
Three hours in and Courtney says they’re only halfway through.
Pati’s starting to get crabby with Marty and is getting a real potty mouth. But she’s getting worried about Marty’s endurance because it’s so damn hot.
Chris is getting worried about Marty because he doesn’t want to win, but he doesn’t want to lose either!
Pati tries getting him up and going again, telling him there’s only about 20 more loads to go. Gee, is that all?
Damien and Laura have slowed down a lot and everyone could really see the pain on Damien most of all. Courtney even asks him if he’s alright, and Damien says no!
“It’s going to be good to spend 24 hours with you, Munnalita!” – Courtney
The terrible twosome look back over their path between the two piles and they’ve got a trail of dropped logs. Courtney says when he came to the house his goal was to move 4 tonnes of logs! In his aside he says it was by far the hardest challenge they’ve done inside the house. Marty says much the same.
Pati and Marty are almost done which cheers them up quite a bit because they’re actually going to finish!
“Nearly there! Nearly there!” 4 hours 51 minutes Pati and Marty are first to finish!
“Be nice sitting in the pool, won’t it?” “Not with Marty sitting next to you!” – Munnalita and Courtney again.
Courtney doesn’t want to be in lockdown, he doesn’t want to be stuck in a room with Munnalita for 24 hours, he admits in an aside.
Chris and Kim finish in 5 hours 23 minutes.
“Bugger, I’ve still got to go train!” – Marty
Chris sees Marty as the main threat.
Courtney’s seen through Chris and Kim’s act, realising they weren’t going as hard as they could’ve.
Courtney and Munnalita finish in 5 hours 37 minutes.
Damien and Laura don’t have much to go, but they’re still last.
Shannan and Michelle arrive to find their people looking like chimney sweeps, asks them what they had to do and how long it took.
Damien and Laura tell Shannan they’ve been punished by having 24 hours without him. He tells them they know how to construct a gym in a room and he wants a full report on what they do once they get out of solitary.
Shannan says he’s there to train anyone who wants to train. Michelle says if anyone wants to train after they’ve had a shower, they’d be there.
Michelle thinks they might not come down after a 5 hour workout, but Shannan says if it comes down to a hundred grams or so again then it’s got to be worth it.
Then, “Lo and behold, who’s the first person in? Marty!” – Michelle, Shannan knew he’d be first too though.
Courtney and Pati turn up next.
shannan and Michelle want to give them some rehabilitation to get them fit and well for the next session.
Munnalita turns up eventually… Not because she wants to lose as much weight as possible, just because she knew other people would be turning up to train and so she needs to as well to stay above the yellow line. Will she ever learn?
Damien and Laura have arrived in their solitary confinement room. Laura thinks the first thing they should do is have a bit of a nap to sort of recover a bit. So they settle down for a half hour, which is a big relief for their backs.
Shannan says two weeks ago after a 5 hour challenge they wouldn’t’ve had anyone in to train afterwards if it was voluntary, now he’s got plenty of volunteers!
He’s really impressed with their self-motivation and discipline.
Michelle correctly guesses that Damien and Laura are both upstairs having a sleep!
Marty and Pati go off for their massage which they really like because it’ll help them recover much faster than the others. Pati says she felt they both really deserved it as they’d worked their arses off today!
And then Shannan tells us there’s a hidden camera in the bedroom Laura and Damien are stuck in, so he’s going to have a look! We already know that because they’d shown us the footage already but it’s still amusing. He’s going to kick their arses if they’ve not trained, unless it was for medical reasons!
And tomorrow the two Outsiders go for The Walk… even though they have in no way earned the right to do so.
Lots of talk about alliances being made and broken and rah rah rah. No details on what the stones might say. Tune in tomorrow!
