Recap #23 – Thursday 1st March – The Walk? With Munnalita? Is in this episode?
Due to the rather large, rather scary, rather noisy storm that passed over my house during tonight’s show, the full recap of Episode 23 will be running a little late.
I’ll post what I got before the storm and will update it later with the full recap. Full recap is now up!
Is it still a “surprise elimination” if there’s an ad for it every 5 minutes and they’ve teased it all week long? Methinks not!
If you’d just like to know who was eliminated, if anyone, it’ll be right after the break. For more details, check back in around an hour. :-)
For the spoilerwhores: To find out who, if anyone, was eliminated tonight, hover your mouse over this line!
“Any time that I’m away from this place for more than a couple of hours coming into the house is always my greatest fear!” – Shannan
Blue relates what happened during the Temptation. Shannan is actually kind of disappointed that no one went any harder for immunity, as even with 5 or 6 plates they would have been well within their calorie limit.
Shannan reams them out, saying they need the immunity, they need to be thinking as a team, but since they don’t have it they’re going to have to win the weigh-in instead.
Red decided the best place to talk to Michelle about the Temptation challenge would be the gym! Or as Munnalita said, “the gym?”
“So who ate?” “Every single one of us. Blue and Red.” “Why? Why did you eat?” Michelle is not happy!
But she hasn’t heard what the food was yet!
Greg tells her that the entire set of food, everything, was only about 2,000 calories all up. Michelle is still not thrilled because she knows some of them would’ve been in tempura coatings and so on.
Mel said the reason she went for it was the dvd to send home. Michelle says in her aside that the prize is to lose weight, the prize is to get healthy, the prize isn’t a dvd player or any of the rest of it.
“But hang on, the beauty of it is, we got the immunity!” – Greg
“Well, we better do what we know best – train!” – Michelle
They’re out on the basketball court again and Marty is clutching his back all the way through.
Greg says everyone is looking for a reason to vote you off, so Marty doesn’t want to look weak.
Munnalita says Marty is always talking about doing it for the team.
“Don’t stamp your authority on everyone else and put out the notion it’s for the team when it’s obvious to me that it’s for yourself. *exasperated n’awww noises* It just infuriates me!” – Munnalita
Afterwards Michelle takes some time to chat to Marty.
Marty’s feeling at risk due to the alliance of Munnalita, Courtney and Pati.
Marty thinks all three of them are more concerned with saving their own bacon (ha!) than they are about the red team.
Next complaint is that apparently some of the Red team is staying up late on weekends watching a dvd or two. So Marty is saying that they normally get up at 7 but he says that perhaps we’ll get up at 8 instead. But then by the time they’re done in the gym they’re almost having breakfast at 10am, so they’re pushing the whole day back, and then everyone complains!
Pati and Courtney pop up here to tell us that Marty has just decided to proclaim himself leader of the Red team. Neither seems particularly happy with that proclamation.
Michelle tells Marty that they’re all getting stronger so the workouts are going to have to increase in intensity and that’s not going to win her any friends, especially if she has to work those three harder, but that’s okay because she’s not there to win friends!
Shannan’s taking the time to chat one on one with Jules, after a bit of a workout.
After a while, he gets her to start opening up and revealing her life story.
She tells him about her first child, first grandchild for both sides of the family. After the birth, the doctor came in to see the baby and Jules asked what’s wrong. The doctor said that her Mum thought, and the doctor is there to confirm, that Jules’ baby has Down’s Syndrome.
She says that now she doesn’t care about that, but back then she was blown away. Her husband said he didn’t care, he’s his little boy.
Shannan tells us that the baby wasn’t supposed to last an hour due to all the abnormalities, then it wasn’t supposed to last a day, then a week. And he’s still alive!
Second bub almost killed her to deliver it naturally. The Friday after that, her first baby was diagnosed with Leukemia and would have to start treatment straight away.
Shannan then says, “And the story goes on!”
Jules by now has broken down and has a bit of a cry before continuing.
“It was when I was about 10 weeks pregnant that my husband passed away…” :-(
The cause was a blood clot that went into his heart and caused him to have a massive heart attack. Apparently there wasn’t anything they could’ve done, even if they’d known about it.
So she was left with two little boys and two weeks pregnant. Third baby was a girl, which her husband would have been thrilled by.
“I do dwell on losing my husband, but I also look on the bright side – I had a really beautiful man in my life and almost 6 years of marriage. Not only did my husband give me a beautiful little girl, he gave me a perfect bone marrow match for Gaving (her first child) if he needs it down the road.”
Jules has started to notice that she’s more confident in herself now since she started at the house. Shannan wants to open her up some more and let her really enjoy the world.
Time for The Walk!
“I hate the walk!” – Gerard
“If it is shocking I’m glad Munnalita is going on that walk because that’s going to benefit me!” – Courtney
“I don’t believe that The Walk is power. There’s no news that could come back that would surprise me.” – P’eta
Shannan takes Gerard aside during their training session to give him a solid workout again. “Gerard is the most frustrating person I’ve had to work with in the house.” – Shannan
“Come on you beast!” – Shannan
“I might be 43, but I’m a virgin exerciser! Never played sport, never pushed myself to those limits.” – Gerard
They’re finally starting to bond a bit. Gerard’s increasing strength is probably helping as he’d be feeling better about himself by now, even if he’s hurting like he’s never hurt before!
Munnalita dawdles off to the bridge for The Walk. I’d transcribe the things she said but to be honest, I tuned most of it out because 2 minutes of her talking would probably heva driven me insane to listen to again!
“And I can tell you that no matter what stone you choose, someone will be going home tonight.” – Ajay
Damn, damn, damn. Stupid Big Brother retarded crap! It has no place in The Biggest Loser!
Anyway.
“For a moment there I did get quite excited, because, you know, there’s a few people here that I thought should be going home.” – Munnalita
The stones say:
1. Choose 1 Red team member to eliminate.
2. Choose 1 Blue team member to eliminate.
3. Choose 1 Man to eliminate.
4. Choose 1 Woman to eliminate.
So basically there is no way for this to end well.
Munnalita returns to the house to tell everyone the bad news.
“Oh, I can hardly speak! Ajay wasn’t joking when she said this would be the worst Walk ever!” – Munnalita
Mel’s first thought was that it’d be her, second thought? Angry! We hear ya, Mel.
Munnalita reveals that she picked the one woman to eliminate rock.
Mel bursts into tears right away.
“Munnalita, I’m serious, send me home, I don’t want anything to do with this shit anymore. It’s just pathetic.” – Mel. HEAR HEAR!
Munnalita takes certain people aside for a chat.
Mel feels like she needs to put her hand up because everyone else needs to be there more than her. “It’s probably going to make me look like a bloody martyr.”
“The smartest thing to do would probably be to pick a Red team member.” – Munnalita. Because it would even the teams out 5v5, delaying the inevitable team splitting that will occur at some point.
Blue sit down for a chat and realise that it’s probably going to be one of them. P’eta theorises that it could well be Jules, because she’s losing the most weight.
Or perhaps Laura or P’eta according to Damien. And P’eta thinks it’ll probably be her, but the others aren’t so sure because of how well Laura did during the last challenge.
Courtney thinks P’eta or Jules should be the one to go home, because he thinks they could go home and do it themselves.
Munnalita asks him if he’s serious, if he really thinks Jules can do it at home?
Courtney adds that it would make the most sense strategically, because it would bust up the Damien/Mel/Jules semi-alliance.
“Everybody is like, oh I love Jules, Jules needs to be here, Jules has three kids, Jules this, Jules that. That’s great. That’s Jules. This is me. I need to be here just as much, you know, everyone needs to be here. She’s so well liked by everybody here that no one is ever going to vote her out! So if I had the perfect opportunity to get rid of someone like that, I’d use it.” – Courtney. Damned by what comes out of his own mouth again.
Munnalita tells him that Mel has put his hand up and he agrees that that might be an option as well, because they don’t know whose side she’d vote on if it comes to that, so getting rid of her would ensure they have the majority still, ensuring their short term survival.
Now it’s time to go to the elimination room to reveal the decision. The 5 other girls file in first before Munnalita comes in. First Ajay wants to taunt them a whole bunch about how someone’s dreams are about to be shattered, etc.
Jules isn’t feeling safe, due to not being on Munnalita’s team.
Pati is asked, again, if there’s any alliances on the Red team. Saying that she thinks her and Munnalita came together because after Sarah left, they were the only two girls left on the team.
Mel feels she’s at a point where if she goes home she’ll be okay, so if she has to sacrifice her space for one of the others, she’s okay with that, because she feels very protective of the others in the house.
P’eta says she’s ready to go home, she’s ready to stay in the house, she’s ready for whatever life throws at her next!
Laura feels it wouldn’t be fair if she went home because she’s only lost about 5kg and she really needs to lose at least 10 more before she’d feel like she was ready to go home.
“Ladies, it is now time to cut the fat.” – Ajay. Not sure how it’s appropriate this time, since it’s got bugger all to do with the weakest team member or any of the usual things.
Munnalita comes in at last, says everyone is very courageous. She feels like she’s going to be responsible for what’s going to happen to someone today.
“I obviously have no choice…” Wrong! You could have refused to pick someone!
Her vote is going to someone she thinks will manage to do it on the outside, she respects them very much. “I hate to say that I’m forced to vote for… P’eta.”
She starts to cry immediately afterwards. “There’s no need for you to cry about it!” – P’eta. Especially since they’re crocodile tears, huh?
P’eta apparently tends to hold back ordinarily, but she’s opened up a lot more since coming to the house. She really likes her new attitude.
“Are you still going to be the biggest loser of weight, as you promised?” “Yep!”
She says she wants to look like a hot supermodel… at some stage!
Jules has some nice words to say about P’eta, saying she’s been great for the team, always has a nice word for everyone.
“Girls, one of you needs to win The Biggest Loser. I don’t want to see another boy standing up there!” – P’eta
Hugs and kisses all round. Laura gets first hug… And almost a snog, it looked like. Hmmm?
Ajay leaves them with the news that there will be more and bigger surprises to come… Joy.
“It was just really devastating to see her be the one to go, purely because a rock was turned over.” – Mel
“Furious. Tears of anger.” – Also Mel!
“I was pissed off!” – Damien. He goes on to add that they already took Mel away from them last week, now they’ve taken P’eta away as well.
Blue is feeling like underdogs now, as they’ve only 4 members left, to Red’s 6.
P’eta comes home to a surprise party and a big hug from her girlfriend.
2 months on, still looking pretty chubby around the waist and arms, but her head is a lot smaller than it was, she’s looking a lot better in general.
“I can run!” – P’eta
She’s not having any trouble sticking to the diet and the clothes from her wardrobe aren’t fitting – she even had clothes that were too small before, and now they’re too big as well!
Her partner says P’eta probably doesn’t even realise how much her attitude has changed and how depressed she was before she went into the house.
“I’m a new person, with new goals and new aspirations and it’s all for my health now.”
Since leaving the house she’s lost 16.6kg… And got herself a new job! She’s also well on the way to her goal of being fit enough to compete in a triathlon.
Next time, on The Biggest Loser… Shannan is crushed to see that he’s down another member.
And Munnalita is going to crack under the weight of her decision. Oh boohoo!
And the major challenge is another one of those “moving house” affairs, and the prize? It has something to do with one Red becoming a Blue to even out the teams.
Raise your hand if you’re hoping Mel will be returned to Blue?
