Recap #13 – Sunday 18th Feb. – Weigh-in, Week 2.
Which team will pick which new contestant? Who will do well at the weigh-in? Will the show’s editors realise we don’t need 20 seconds of repeated footage after each ad break? I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say no to that last one…
Read on if you want to know the answers to the rest!
“After we came back from the challenge? We, um, gathered on the lawn?” – Show-me-the-money-lita? As they gather on the lawn? Thanks!?
Greg? Still crushed. Michelle tries to comfort him too.
Bob tells his Shannan that the Blues won the challenge and thus the right to choose which of the two newbies they get. The Blues have sort of decided they want Laura, but ask for Shannan’s input as he’s just got done giving them both their first training session, along with Michelle.
Shannan says that P’eta has a real fire in her belly and a drive to do well, so she’s probably the better choice.
Gerard pipes up with, “P’eta really scares the girls…”
Bob point out that if she’s really angry and wild, you can tame her and still keep that, and then she’d be a real asset to the team.
Kelly concedes and says fine, but if she starts getting in people’s faces Kelly won’t be stepping back!
P’eta’s not even in a team yet and she’s already causing drama, yay!
The two newbies walk down the lawn and Kelly sees that Laura is all smiles while P’eta has a real hard look on her face. Apparently. Laura was certainly smiling, I think P’eta’s just not someone who tends to grin all the time, it’s not that she’s a particularly sour person.
Jules steps forward for once and tells both newbies that they’d been back and forth over who they should pick, etc.
And in the end, they chose P’eta! As expected!
Laura seems distinctly unimpressed at being on Red. Sort of, “Oh, well, let’s go red team…” But that was in the side interviews, where she’s a bit… well… dopey.
We next see her with her team on the lawn, putting on her red team shirt, and she looks a bit less glum then. Jillian is nearby talking to her, so I think maybe she had some kind words of encouragement for the poor dear.
Bob & Jillian turn up to the mansion without Michelle & Shannan… because today’s the day they leave and head off back to the US. WHAT A SURPRISE.
Jillian is being all soft and mushy, saying that her team is going to succeed in all of their endeavours and rah rah rah red team!
Munnalita is in tears.
Jillian tells them to make the most of Michelle, she’s wonderful, she’s great, Jillian just loves her!
Marty says Jillian is part of the red team all the way.
And then Jillian starts tearing up! Cry! Cry! Cry! Cry!
Munnalita sticks a barb in, telling Jillian she’d found something in Munnalita she knew was in there, but didn’t know how to bring out.
Jillian has a big squishy hug with her, burying her face in her shoulder… but still no tears! Jillian’s a total badass!
The side interview has her voice starting to crack and she’s trying to hold back the tears and then… CUT! Blue team!
Damien has some really nice words to say about how much Bob has helped them and such and Bob thanks him a lot.
Bob is really proud of Damien, being the biggest guy and Bob really thought it was just going to be too much for him. Goes into more of a spiel about how strong he is… Meanwhile, Damien’s wiping away tears, ha!
Mel is strong too! Equally strong as Damien, yay! And now she’s crying too! Go Bob! Make more of your team cry than Jillian did! You can do it!
Bob reminded them not to get caught up too much in the game, according to Kelly, as they need to focus on losing weight and why they’re there – for family and friends and so on.
Last chance training, last time with Bob & Jillian!
Bob says that last chance training could be a difference of a couple of hundred grams which could be the difference between someone going home or staying.
Damien is taken aside for some special work, doing squats with a weight to lift up and over his head. At the end, Bob had him hold the weight over his head, while Bob added his own weight to it, and Damien thought he was going to collapse, but he held on long enough for Bob to declare, “That was your last chance workout, Damien!”
“When you get up there at that weigh-in I want you to be able to go: I’ve done everything I can do, this is my number and I’m proud of it.” – Bob
Jillian wants her team feeling strong going into the weigh-in.
Laura watched everyone else getting worked out one on one and she was worried it was going to hurt. She was right!
Marty falls over during his one on one session and he said that Jillian got him to breathe through it and get back up and continue.
“One more, one more! *sweet voice* Thank you!” – Jillian
Bob now has some alone time with Shannan to tell him that he’s smart and knows his stuff, Shannan (in an aside) says that he thinks of Bob as his mentor.
Bob’s advice – “Really listen to them (his team) when they need someone to listen to.” And: “You’ve got to take care of my Blue team!”
Jillian to Michelle – “Trust yourself, trust the universe, we wouldn’t’ve put you in this position if you weren’t the right person.”
Michelle says that Jillian has taught her a lot about how the game works, Michelle knows how to train people but there’s more to it than that and Jillian’s help has been great.
Now Bob & Jillian are heading out of the mansion, hugs all round!
“Red team, good luck! Blue team, better luck!” – Bob!
Jillian wants them all to have as much belief in themselves as the trainers have in them.
Shannan’s looking forward to the weigh-in, to check how the numbers are going to see if they need to change their training regime or not.
Michelle is just planning on ramping it up from here regardless!
And now for some reason there’s an envelope on a speedball, with a letter inside saying that it was now time for the two teams to compete to decide which Blue team member was going to be counted out of the official weigh-in figures.
Why they’re not doing this for the challenges is anyone’s guess, but it’s clear they haven’t forgotten about the idea, soooo…
The challenge is first to ride 10km on one of the bikes. P’eta is chosen for the Blue team because she rides a bike to work… She’s also the newbie and thus likely the least fit there, but there you go.
P’eta doesn’t mind too much as she said it’s a chance for her to prove her worth to the team…
Red picks… Courtney? And he volunteered for it, no less. Is this the first signs of change from him?
P’eta goes out hard, but by the halfway mark, Courtney is ahead?
P’eta tries as hard as she can, but can’t catch the mighty gay power of Courtney!
He’s quite chuffed with himself, saying he could now stand up and say he’d won something for Red.
Munnalita seems… disgustingly pleased with their win, as it means they can send a Blue home, and she really wants to send a Blue home. Really, really badly.
Weigh-in room! And Ajay looks like a peasant girl. Seriously, is that the best the wardrobe department has?
Ajay refreshes our memories about what has gone before, telling us Sarah “found the pressure too much, and walked out.” So stop making excuses for her, everyone!
She also reminds us that the newbies have immunity this week.
Oh and the second week is always hard, most contestants not losing many kilos, and some actually putting some back on. Cue shot of Munnalita looking terrified! You tell em, Ajay!
Laura is first up for the Red team. She’s nervous, unsurprisingly!
Laura: 105.2kg LOSS: -4kg
She thanks her Red team. Pati is impressed, since it’s a kilo a day. Here’s hoping she doesn’t get stabbed in the back.
Pati really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really hopes she gets a good number this week! (Really! She said a lot of really’s, really!)
Pati: 111.5kg -3.4kg
Pati seems happy with that number, and so she should be.
Greg walks up with a lot of confidence…
Greg: 134.8kg -3.9kg
Disappointed. Not sure why, it’s a fairly decent second week number.
Gerard is a bit shocked because he didn’t get a big number, but every kilo is a kilo, etc. Thanks, Gerard!
“Marty, it’s time to do it for your teammates!” – Ajay
Marty’s hoping for 10.3kg loss this week, since that would take him under 140kg. Yeah, I don’t like your chances mate!
Marty: 146kg -4.2kg
Ajay points out that he’s under 150kg now, which cheers him up immensely!
Munnalita’s looking a bit Michelin Man this week, with a pretty disturbing muffin top going on. Eep!
Munnalita: 116.4kg -3kg
Courtney’s lucky last and he’s feeling confident because he’s been working out harder and longer this week. You hear that, even he admits he wasn’t putting in 100%, people! Pati even calls him a slackarse!
Courtney: 130.3kg -3.2kg
After his poor performance last week, 3.2kg is woeful! Least for the guys, again, and beaten by Pati! Shame, shame, shame!
No one seems to have explained to them that second week figures are always lower… But hang on, didn’t Ajay explain that at the start of the weigh-in, you might ask? Well, yes, yes she did. Apparently exercise is bad for brain cells as they’re all still shocked!
Michael was underwhelmed by Red’s performance as well, thinking they’d get a combined total a bit closer to 30kg, not closer to 20kg.
2.83% is the total percentage lost by Red this week. 21.7kg.
And who has the Red team chosen to sit out of the weigh-in?
Mel? Mel?! Crazy.
Courtney said the decision was because Mel’s looking great – and she is. Still, crazy!
Mel: 98.7kg -2kg
Under 100kg! “Double digits, baby! […] No triple figures on this body ever again!”
Blues now need to lose a total of 24.1kg between the remainder of their team to avoid elimination.
P’eta’s up first and she’s feeling confident, since she’s sweated more than she’s ever sweated in her life, apparently.
P’eta: 127.7kg -3.9kg
Jules was impressed, since that’s in 4 days, just like Laura’s… Yet Laura is lighter and lost more. Um…? Okay, it’s pretty good, but I wonder if Blue is looking at the two figures and wondering if they picked the wrong newb…
Jules is up next, hopeful as always.
Jules: 118.2kg -2kg
Not too shabby, but not too great, either!
With four people remaining, Blue needs 18.9kg to win the weigh-in.
Gerard is hoping for 5kg…
Gerard: 122.1kg -4kg
Not too bad, either. Up there with the best of the Red team’s men.
But it leaves 14.9kg (though Ajay says 14.2kg?) for the remaining 3 people…
Michael is targeting a loss of 5.6kg to get under 150kg.
Michael: 151kg -4.6kg
Marty is now very concerned. Courtney has now basically decided that Red has lost, thinks it’s over, is considering who he’s going to vote for, etc.
Kelly, with her hair down for a change, making her look much less severe, is up next.
Kelly: 108.7kg -4kg
With an injury, that’s pretty darn good! On percentages she’s actually the biggest loser on her team at this point.
Leaving just Damien to go. Who will need more than 5.6kg to win the weigh-in for his team… Uh-oh!
He’s hoping for 7kg.
Damien: 201kg -2.2kg
You can tell the big fella is shattered by that result. “It just hurts to look at the screen, really.”
Blue team loses the weigh-in, causing much rejoicing on the Red team. Blue team are much more gracious in defeat than Red were, congratulating the Red team on their win.
Jules wouldn’t be surprised to be going home, Kelly feels like she’s done everything she can…
Next time, on The Biggest Loser, Mel swears she wants to smack Gerard’s face in! Hooray!
Apparently the elimination is going to tear the Blue team apart! And Shannan has some harsh words, something “Is going to stop, right now!” Or some such.
And the editors get sneaky with a shot of P’eta looking grouchy, a shot of Gerard looking grouchy… And then another shot of P’eta from a different angle, still looking grouchy, but also a bit like Kelly… Just to try and confuse people trying to work out who was eliminated!
