Recap #8 – Monday 12th Feb. – First elimination, backstab redux.

Is Alex doomed? Will Sam return? Will Jillian punch Courtney in his smug obnoxious face?

Read on to find out! (Warning: A bit more foul language than usual!)

We’re now 8 minutes in and we still haven’t seen anything new – it’s all recap, preview and intro theme!

Finally we get to some new stuff, Gerard saying he’s glad the weigh-in is over and he’s safe for another week.
Damien points out that had they not won the challenge, they’d’ve not had the 5kg advantage and they wouldn’t’ve won the weigh-in.

Pati expressed her pleasure at how much weight Alex lost… and then in the next breath says that if he wasn’t on the team, they would’ve won the weigh-in because they wouldn’t have had the 5kg penalty.
Marty’s next, saying that as the week went on he grew to like “the little fella”, eventually breaking down in tears on the couch while Pati is basically waving the “We hate Alex” flag right in everyone’s face.

Greg then takes Alex aside to another room to have a chat with him, asking Alex why he thinks they lost the weigh-in. Alex says that it was a combination of bad luck, and losing the challenge. Greg then asks why he thinks they lost the challenge, and Alex said it was because he doesn’t have enough endurance. But then goes on to point out that while he might not have the endurance, he has the most weight to lose and will continue to lose the most weight week by week, with the best chance of keeping it up for longer.

Alex then asks how Greg knows the next major challenge won’t be based on strength (it is!) and that if it is, Alex will be in it till his brain pops!
Greg admits that Alex makes some good points, but he doesn’t seem convinced that his vote should go elsewhere.

We then move on to this season’s Axis of Evil, Courtney, Munnalita and Pati. Courtney and Munnalita are discussing Alex’s efforts, saying that Alex nearly killed himself on the Tower challenge. And that was the first challenge, how hard will the later ones be, etc. They completely discount the advantage having a big guy who puts in big numbers every week, and completely discount Alex’s determination to keep trying no matter what.

Pati and Marty are then chatting on the couch, Pati saying it’s really hard to eliminate him because he does try so hard and does want to be there so much and did put in such great numbers… But again, refers to him as the weakest link because he might lose them any future challenges.
It’s not all about winning challenges you fool! You could have won anyway if Courtney had pulled his finger out!

At this point it’s clear that the alliance will be voting for Alex at least, which is 3 votes, virtually guaranteeing Alex will be the one to leave. Greg seems likely to vote Alex as well, which would seal the deal. At least Greg has sat down with Alex and had a genuine discussion with him.

“It’s not over till the fat lady sings, and there’s plenty of them here!” – Alex

The elimination room looks the same as always. People’s names on the walls behind them with various unhealthy foods in display cases, etc.
Ajay is sitting on the opposite side of the table, as always, looking very stern and serious.

Ajay recaps the week for the red team (oi!) and reminds them that they lost both challenges and the major challenge loss is what sealed their fate as the losing team for the week.

“Courtney, you have immunity, do you feel secure tonight?” DUH. I’m sure that came from a writer because Ajay is not that dense.
“Munnalita, are alliances forming in the red team?” DUH. Munnalita hedges, the lying bitch, and refuses to answer when pressed.

“Alex, as the biggest loser on the red team at the weigh-in, do you feel safe tonight?” Alex replies in the negative. Seems his team have finally shown their true colours to him instead of the backstabbing that was going on before.

As we go to ad break, I can’t help but feel sorry for Greg and Marty, being lumped with those three vipers. Mark my words – the next elimination the red team faces, Greg or Marty will be gone, unless both somehow win immunity.
The elimination system needs to change!

Courtney’s up first to reveal his vote: Lies, all lies. Says he admires the person’s strength and loyalty, but in the long run they’re going to hurt the team more than help.
Alex looks at Courtney in disgust as Courtney reveals his vote. Courtney’s too gutless and ashamed to meet Alex’s gaze.
Pati pretty much reiterates what Courtney said, in her own words. She at least has the courage to look him in the eye and say she’s sorry afterwards.
Munnalita is up next, saying that Alex has a lot of strength and my decision is for the wellbeing of the team and no Courtney does not have his hand up my butt like a ventriloquist, why do you ask?
Alex now has 3 votes, as expected.

Alex says that the person who he voted for has a strong mind with a lot of willpower, so he wondered why this person was there at all. Ultimately he decided to vote for someone who was playing the game a bit too hard, a bit too early. Munnalita receives her first vote.

Marty’s up next. His vote he wanted to give to Courtney, to give him a wake-up call to make him get his act together, and it was only immunity that saved him tonight, so he’d better lift his game. He’s annoyed at Courtney’s immunity, as it has forced him to choose someone who has a lot of strength that would have been useful to the team… (uh-oh) and it hurts him to vote for this person, because he’s become quite good friends with him.
And he’s had to vote for Alex…
That’s 4 votes for Alex, so we don’t need to see Greg’s vote.

Disgraceful. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. None of the Axis of Evil will win, they’re all there for the money but are too stupid to realise they have no chance if they stab each other in the back.

Alex respects their decision and still feels a part of the red team and he’ll always be thinking of those guys. If I were him, I’d be thinking I’d want to come back weighing less than them and looking great, to stick it right up them!
Ajay seems to be quietly seething as well. She’s managing to maintain her professionalism, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen her ask so many questions of an eliminated contestant that are leading questions, trying to get him to dump on his teammates!
She also asks him if he’s looking forward to seeing his kids, and of course he is!

At last, Alex has to say goodbye. Marty breaks down, saying it was an honour to have met him. Greg mumbles something indistinct, I think perhaps telling him he voted for someone else. (? Someone with better hearing want to step in here?)
Alex doesn’t even bother heading towards Munnalita, Pati or Courtney. He knows who was being genuine and it wasn’t those three! He walks out shortly after saying his goodbyes to Marty and Greg.

Ajay gets stuck into them, saying it’s surprising they eliminated their biggest loser, pointing out they started the week with 7 and are now down to 5, and they’re going to have to work much harder now, since they eliminated Alex, their best chance at survival!

Damien sticks a knife into the Red team, saying it must’ve been really hard to eliminate their biggest loser. GO DAMIEN!

After that we have Munnalita doing the post-elimination to camera bit, where she breaks down into tears after saying that Alex already has two children and Munnalita needs to lose weight in order to be successful in having her own child.
I have one word for you, Munnalita: ADOPTION.
Sheesh.

Mel said she could tell some of the Red team members were genuinely upset at having to eliminate Alex from the game, but some of them seemed quite pleased, namely Courtney and Munnalita.
We then have Courtney doing a to camera bit, saying that he really didn’t care about having to eliminate Alex, because it’s a game and so long as he’s not the one being eliminated, it’s not a problem.
No, it’s a weightloss show you fucking tool. You’ve got no chance of winning the prize anyway because you’re a lazy son of a bitch! So start taking it seriously!

As you can probably tell, I’m getting a bit of a hate on for Courtney and his faghags, Munnalita and Pati. I don’t like alliances in general on this show, but when someone is being so nasty in the way they’re going about it as these three, it’s really a recipe for a mental meltdown!

Michelle and Jillian were dreading walking back in to the mansion.
Soon as Jillian steps in the room, she gets majorly pissed as she realises that Alex was indeed the one eliminated. She manages to hold it together long enough to ask the numbers of everyone first.
And Marty steps up and tells them Alex lost 10.6kg. Jillian is dumbfounded.
She starts to tear Courtney a new one, telling him he’s 21 years old. Jillian has a 33 year old (Greg) who lost double what Courtney lost. She has a 38 year old with a back problem (Marty) who lost double what Courtney lost. She asks him if it’s cute, now, him walking out on training. Courtney gets a smart mouth back and says he walked out because Jillian was trying to make him throw up or collapse and Jillian quickly returns by saying no, she was trying to make him work hard enough so that she could get that one kilo out of him that would have won them the weigh-in and kept Alex in the game!

At this point I think Jillian was fighting the urge to jump across the table and literally smack some sense into him, so she asks to see “Mish” (Michelle – cute!) outside for a second.
As they walk out, Courtney looks at Munnalita who is taking a sip of water to cover the enormous smirk she has on her face.

Ugh.

Jillian dispenses a lot of wisdom she’s learnt since starting this whole thing and points out that Michelle can’t keep wasting her time on people who don’t want to do the work, it’s better to spend the time on those who do. Michelle agrees and says that one loss of a good person was one too many and that enough is enough.
Jillian goes on to say that she’s now got to go on and basically crack Courtney’s skull to get through to him, but going by the earlier preview clips, it’s going to be Jillian making the attempt.

Moving away from the Reds, we see Bob and Shannan coming up the drive having a good old chinwag. They were both confident because they’ve had a good week.
Bob, as always, immediately starts counting people as soon as he walks in. He gets to six and pauses, asking “Where’s Sam?!” Obviously thinking they’d lost the weigh-in and thus she’d been eliminated!
But Sam’s in hospital, with a blood clot in her leg, her team explains. All her stuff has been shifted out of the rooms and everything and they don’t know if she’s coming back.

Bob then says he doesn’t want to be insensitive, but how much did everyone lose?
He’s impressed with everyone’s weight loss, including Sam.
After they chatted for a while, Sam walks in!

Apparently she has deep vein thrombosis, so she can’t continue on the show, since it could result in her death. She even offered to sign a waiver saying she’d fight through the pain and if she died, no one would blame the show, etc. For obvious reasons, they couldn’t allow that.
Everyone was shattered by the news, as she was the real heart of the team, apparently. Always putting in a lot of effort and helping to look after everyone else as well.
Here’s hoping they pull together and keep up the good work now she’s gone!

Shannan’s background is apparently as a rugby league strength and conditioning coach… Which I think helps you to guess where the two teams might be heading off to in the cars today! Yep, it’s off to a football field!
With some help from four first grade footballers, they all set to training hard with standard footy training techniques like running passes, tackling bags, etc.
Michelle decided that since her team was down to 5 people now and the exercise really called for pairs, and her and Jillian had decided to break Courtney, it would be two pairs and Courtney would just do everything twice!

“Oh, they’re deliberately after me today, look at this..” – Courtney under his breath to Munnalita
“What was that?” – Jillian asks, walking over with an evil glint in her eye.

Now’s the time to break his skull, apparently!

After putting him through his paces for a while:

“Are you worthy of being here?” – Jillian
“Yes!” – Courtney who stops doing the exercise
“DO NOT STOP!” – Jillian

Jillian finally starts to get through to Courtney, asking him why he’s unhappy, why he’s there and so on. And Courtney finally admits that his problem with his weight is he feels ugly (Sorry, it’s your personality, not your looks!).
After that, Jillian takes him aside and sits down for a quiet chat with him.
Courtney tells Jillian that losing the weight will stop him from hating himself.
Jillian tells him he’s not ugly, he’s actually quite handsome! Courtney doesn’t believe it, he says he does to everyone else, but he doesn’t believe it himself.
Jillian feels like she’s making progress but it’s not going to happen immediately, he’s still going to have to be ridden hard. Here’s hoping Courtney has finally been broken of his bad habits.

Meanwhile Blue is off training, apparently with some Cronulla players?
Kelly is running towards Bob and half falls over. Apparently she’s pulled both sides of her groin, as well as her calf! That’s got to take some serious talent! A couple of the other Blue’s have also fallen down with various woes.
Red team is soldiering on like champs, much to the amusement of Michelle!

After they finish with the majority of the training, the two Aussie trainers decide to have a bit of a friendly competition with some scrum machine training. Basically, pushing the machine from one end of the field to the other.

Both teams are taking it very seriously, getting seriously fired up. Greg was stomping at the ground and shouting and him and Marty pretty much won it, heads down pushing hard all the way.
Even with one of the Blue footballers helping, Red still won. To be fair, the Blue’s did have a flat tire on their machine though… or so said Gerard!

Red team gained a lot of confidence from it and Michelle thinks it’s going to be Red’s week this week!
Yeah, we’ll see.

“What’s a fun way to work off those calories? 25 minutes of non-stop lovemaking will burn off 2 slices of cheese and mushroom pizza!” – Bless you little tip making man!

Now we catch up with Sam and Alex!

Sam’s looking alright. She’s still very obviously overweight, but she’s looking healthier than she did, which is great.
20.3kg since appearing on the show is a pretty decent result, given that she would have had to recover from her DVT first. Here’s hoping she can continue on from there!

Alex returns to his restaurant where a huge surprise party is waiting for him. And a huge hug from his kids.
Next bit is him running up the road with a lot of strength. His face already looks way better than it did, as he’s clearly lost a goodly amount of weight.
“Healthy doesn’t have to be boring!” – Alex, while cooking lunch.
“Anyone out there, if you need a circus tent, I have one for sale!” – on going from an XXXL to just an XL.
He’s obviously a lot happier than he was, running around with his kids and having a ball. He’s obviously stuck with it after leaving the house which is always great to see!
Since leaving the show, he’s lost 28.2kg and is no longer a borderline diabetic!

Tomorrow night’s show seems to be a beach volleyball challenge (cool!) and they also teased us with the temptation challenge and the promise of “the biggest twist in the game’s history” resulting from The Walk, apparently.
