Recap #4 – Wednesday 7th Feb. – The First Temptation of the Fatties
Tonight’s episode brought to you by Visine – gets the red out of teary eyes!
Or, you know, not.
Wednesday night, as the schedule suggests, is Temptation night, and the first temptation is a very intriguing one… To find out what it was, you’ll have to read on!
Previously, on The Biggest Loser… Sarah cried! Lots! And then left the Mansion.
Oh and also, Gerard almost died. But enough about that. Sarah! Crying! Can Bob and Cat save her or will she just have to lose her weight via tears?
Red Team wake up to face the morning after spending the night on the lawn of the mansion. Much grumbling and groaning about the lack of sleep.
The two red team trainers sat the rest of their team down to have a chat about Sarah leaving. They’re putting a good spin on it, saying that it means they’ve got more time for each of them individually now.
So off they went to the gym. Alex draws the short straw and gets Jillian for the morning, who pushes him hard again.
Part of Jillian’s routine was to get him kicking a bag she was holding, as hard as he could, which was going pretty well, Alex was working up quite a sweat… until he tried a little too hard one too many times and fell over. Took out a cameraman on the way down and everything!
Twisted his ankle so they had to strap some ice to it. Suspect he’ll be fine, it’ll just be a bit sore is all. These things happen!
After the first ad break, we swap to the blue team having breakfast… when Gerard walks back in! Back in his blue team gear and everything. Quadruple thumbs up for getting back in there, mate. It takes courage to go in there in the first place but going back after having to take a trip to hospital? Very ballsy.
Apparently the doctors have told him that he’s fine, his heart pumps plenty of blood, so the trainers can go hard on him if they like, so that’s good news.
Annnnnd we’re back to Sarah. Bob was very sad when he heard that Sarah wanted to leave, so he decided he was going to do whatever he could to help her. And he figured if anyone was going to get Sarah to come back it was going to be him, and it was going to be Cat!
So Bob called her up and Cat agreed very readily to come along and have a chat.
Sarah has another sook to both Bob and Cat. Cat replies with her own sobbing pleas. But Sarah was still unconvinced, thanked them kindly and sent them on their way.
She’s screwed. Flashed up on the screen after that section was one of those “Since appearing on our show…” things.
She’s lost 8kg since appearing on the show. People on the show regularly put up that kind of number in the first week. Nevermind the month or two it has been since they started filming.
8kg is a good start, for sure, but it does leave one wondering how much she would have lost had she just sucked it up and persevered, even just for a week!
Oh well. There’s no helping those who won’t be helped, or however the saying goes.
And since it’s Wednesday, we’re having a Temptation challenge.
But first a long shot with Ajay in the foreground… in a skirt. Look at them calves, woo!
The temptation challenge has them standing on podiums, sort of like a voting booth. So long as they stay standing, they stay in the game.
Every now and then while they stay at the booth they will be presented with a tempting treat. If they choose to eat the treat, they can stay at the podium. If they choose not to, they have to step down and are out of the challenge.
Should they be the last challenger standing they will earn themselves immunity.
Lots of talk of strategies and such. Blue team has made a pact not to eat any of the items, which means they’re essentially ceding the immunity pass over to someone from the red team.
Some of the people on the red team also made a pact – they wanted to ensure Alex wouldn’t get immunity as they don’t feel he’s putting in enough effort.
The first temptation was a simple slice of watermelon, 17 calories.
Jules, Munnalita and Sam all pass, followed by Greg who decides to go for it and gorges himself like a pig… okay, it’s only watermelon, it’s not really gorging, is it?
Damien and Pati both then pass, putting the ball in Gerard’s court.
Gerard, thinking of himself as a potential “weakest link” decides he really needs that immunity pass… but then he did the right thing and passed on eating the watermelon as well.
Marty then decides to have his piece of watermelon.
Mel passes as well.
Alex thinks long and hard, after confessing that he has in the past eaten entire watermelons. At one sitting. Nevertheless, he passes on eating, surprisingly. He obviously doesn’t realise that the rest of his team is not particularly enamoured of him, so he really needed that immunity.
Courtney eats the watermelon as well.
Kelly sticks with the blue teams agreement not to participate and passes on the watermelon.
At this point there is still more than one contestant in the game… and round 2, the temptation is 284 calories per serving.
Greg, Marty and Courtney have to decide whether or not to eat a bowl of potato wedges with sour cream and chilli.
Rather stupidly, the temptation challenge was won by Courtney, by virtue of being the last person to be offered the wedges, after Greg & Marty declined. Which was a poor way to decide the challenge – he should have had to eat them to win immunity, else it should have been a three way tie.
And now the twist!
The winner of immunity must face… “The walk”! And they must face the walk alone.
But no further details were revealed at that time. Evil!
Tomorrow night Courtney will be the first contestant to take “The Walk”.
And Gerard gets upset during training and threatens to go home as well… or it’s all an act to mock Sarah. We’ll see!
The next challenge has something to do with scaling Centerpoint/Sydney Tower in Sydney. Looks like yet another race up a really tall thing. Would’ve been nice to see them do the bridge climb again this season, but perhaps they’ll do that later this time around.
